It's 7/10 as far as single player, 8/10 if you have PS+ and access to multiplayer. The cast is the biggest sore point if you're coming from a background that played previous games in the series.

The one game I can play on an endless loop without being bored is Super Mario World. It isn't graphically revolutionary, even in it's day and it is now somewhere around 30 years old. She's not wrong that having far too many options can be a problem for a game - if you're trying to balance a game, it can be an utter nightmare if you're buried under a mountain of stats.

Consider Europa Universalis IV - it's an autistic spreadsheet of a game that looks like a crazy nightmare to balance. It has a very small target audience, and the very small target audience loves it. The sheer autism of the target audience enables them to break the game so horrifyingly that they end up conquering the world as niggers/abbos/etc. pretty often.

It's a valid criticism of a game. Yet, is it valid for this game in particular? I would argue no - this is a Gundam game, and the people who are going to like this are going to be horrible autists who watched all of the fucking Gundam. They're going to know already what all of the fucking mechas are supposed to be, and they're going to have a rough idea of their stats simply because of how fucking autistic they are. These are the people who are going to be masturbating over the power levels of the suits.

The target audience isn't casualfag games journos. The target audience is Gundam fans. Keeping that in mind is important when reviewing this sort of game.

Actually it was Full Boost that got me into Gundam. I thought the gameplay was cool and played it and then decided to read Origins and watch Zeta. From there I watched 08MS Team Char's Counterattack, and 0800. And then I read Char's Deleted Affairs which I dropped later on due to boredom.

Anyway watching the shows wouldn't tell you how exactly these play besides "X is a Various type and A is a melee type". Playing them is completely different and it takes some time to get used to them. Especially suits with multiple forms like Strike Gundam. The biggest balance problems in this game was a certain few suits were too powerful like Hot Scrambled while a suit like Z was a 400 cost with more HP unlike the rest of the 500 cost suits. That and a few assists were used by nearly everyone because they were so good like The O and SUMO.

I'm sure you'll do great things fighting mega corps that are impossible to fail.

The only thing you can do is not support them with money and hope others follow suite. Theres literally nothing else you can do unless you blow up their HQ. But it will only make them stronger, like a Hydra.

You fight mega corps the way everybody else does: join one, climb the ranks, and then embezzle the shit out of its funds. Then you start a new mega corp with all the money you have and repeat the process.

Gundam aside, there's a huge difference between streamlining for the sake of elegance in design and neutering for the sake of marketing to the casual masses - and the line between the two isn't always as clear as it might first seem.

It's a piss-poor example, but he's not necessarily wrong. When the number of choices start to make the game into an utter clusterfuck, then there's a point where trimming the fat may be beneficial, particularly to a developer trying to balance out a game. A better example would be going to a buffet with several hundred items. You can only eat so many items while there, so you can't everything you know you like, much less everything in general.

It's a fighting game though and most of the shit in GvG is unlockable additions. Not to mention this is Gundam so shit is all different, the only time there are "clones" are when it's the same machine, but a different pilot and even then it's got a different behaviour to it. See Wing Zero (TV) piloted by Quatre vs Wing Zero (TV) pilot by Heero.

Quatre in WZ is pretty much a weaker suit meant for beginners.

Gundam Versus made some changes to that system, given that you now have unlockable alternate pilots for certain suits, like Ryu Jose in the Gundam, or the entire Black Tri-Stars team for the Dom.
