Kenshi Thread

Last one is on page 13

An indie squad-based game with RPG bits, buildable settlements, robot skeletons, and a ridiculously large non-procedural map where nobody cares about you and you'll probably starve to death in the desert or get your legs eaten by frogmen.

Aesthetically, it's somewhere between Morrowind and feudal Japan. Visually, it looks like it's from the mid 2000s, which is roughly when it started development. Gameplay-wise, it's hard to find a comparison but it's pretty fun, and very open-ended.

The dev is a cool guy, but if you want to pirate it, magnet link here:

New race soon

Threadly reminder that unarmed combat is the weapon of the gods.

For the user who wanted mods for the pirate copy.

Thank you so much user. ALSO GUNS WHEN my strength and dodge have been raising with no problem but m martial arts skills have barely gone up 3 levels the entire day I was playing and I'm sick of it

That's weird, I've played for maybe 6 hours today and my martial arts have gone up from 46 to 56. I'm at the point where I start jump kicking people straight right after they miss me.

I've been playing for 3 days both with and without heavy armor and items weighing me down during unarmed and I haven't left level 13 of my martial arts yet

What are you doing to raise it though? Between level 0 to 20 all I did was unlawfully kidnap people, brought them out the swamp and continuously fight them non-stop.

Fight hand to hand against bandits

Kidnap one of them and turn him into your pet. Martial art does raise quite slow though. I dug up some older screen shots and as you can see my strength was already 60 when I had 16 martial arts. However once I broke 30, I leveled martial arts pretty quickly.

How do you build steel cages?

You don't need one. I just carried the guy to some isolate bog and make sure he's fed. I beat him up when he's awake, bandage him up and carry him when he's out for strength training.

However for cages, you'll need to research it first, then it take 5 iron plates to build. I plan to make a isolated prison complex just to put high stat prisoners like holy nation inquisitors eventually to get a proper training camp going.

Okay I'll try that. Also I found a guy named Cat in the dust king's tower? anyway to return him home or is he stuck with me forever?

No idea, my dust king tower is empty since my fist are now strong enough to outright kill people.

Cat was in a cage upstairs

When can we expect this in the public version?

Probably within a week or two, there have been a couple of patches for experimental already.

I also checked the discord kill me to see if there was any news. Apparently they've decided that player slavery is a hard no. Kinda disappointing, I wanted to enslave my prisoners and run a city off the backs of bandits.

Why no slavery? Too hard to implement or is it too easy to gather high level people up?

Balance issues and PR. Apparently Chris doesn't want it to be known as "that game where you get to run a slave market", as rad as that would be.

I feel like balance issues could be solved with slave rebellions and factions trying to raid you to free them (the flotsam ninjas come to mind) or steal them. In fact, it'd be cool as fuck if ninjas raided your base and the AI actually used the stealth to become invisible to the player, so you'd have to set up good lighting for your guards.

Oh shit, we got a new dev blog a few days ago and nobody noticed.

Next big content release is the end of this month.

The fucking noses won't work right aaaaaaaaa

The shirtless one is my testing guy and he works fine, but for some reason the NPCs just refuse to have proper proportions.

Lame.

Shit, how do people level their buildings? The game supposedly has a slope key while building but the damn thing isn't working on my end.

That Yellow Bastard, is that you?

He is a gourd man. His racial abilities are toughness and only needing to eat half as often as other races, but lacks strength and agility. Also if you kill one you can harvest a barrel of water from their corpse.

shift+f12 brings up a really neat debug menu that I never knew about before, you can move items around at-will, including orientation. Apparently it breaks pathfinding, so be sure to regenerate navmesh. It might break it anyway, though.

FUCK

I swear to god this website better not bug out on me again. Anyway I posted the gourdman alpha on the workshop if anyone cares.

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1161970256&searchtext=

Nvm. I am super dumb. Apparently, the control scheme is fucked up on install and I have to manually set it up.

I thought this was defunct.

Huh, I could have sworn it got updated. The guy says he's working on it at least.

Really though it shouldn't be too hard to figure out how he did it and reverse engineer the code. The mod has a bad case of feature creep anyways. I might do it myself if I ever get the time for it.

Here is my current group. We have the Main Character, Sif "Chad" Sigurd, the only Aryan left alive in this world.

His Side Hoes, Rane the Giant and Ruka. Rane being tsundere as fuck and Ruka being the reserved one.

Burn, we all need a skelebro

Beep, using the bug race for what they're meant to be, pack mules.

This game is fun as Hell when you meme. Going blonde Guts with Sif is one of my favorite things, I might level up unarmed to get the dodge skill higher so I can finally ditch the heavy armor and just wear all black for the full cosplay.

Forgot to add- imported the game to newest version, so the days are off. This is from a damn long game of mine.

You really can't ditch heavy armor on the current system due to hit stun. Full heavy armor like samurai set basically negates stunlocks at higher quality and allows you to immediately counter after getting hit.

t. - unarmed faggit.

Life is eternal torment and suffering, thanks for the advice at least.

But do train unarmed, it's hilarious watching six guys surrounding my guy and one guy gets a lucky shot in that does something like
and my guy immediately responds by a flying kick into his head that does 120 damage.

That sounds fucking amazing. My goal is to be able to dodge most attacks while delivering fatal blows with the plank, but I might just have my guy go to find his 'inner peace' and flying kick Dust Bandits in the face.

Dunno if they still intend to add this feature but basically one of the plans I saw a couple years ago is a faction can hire ninjas to track you down and kill your guys.
Being able to spot sneaking enemies and resisting stealth kills will depend on perception, darkness, ambient noise level and/or weather conditions.
As of right now, resisting stealth KO depends on toughness and maybe armor, not sure if that will change.

Is it still viable to stack equipment that increases combat speed to make up for lack of armor? Like ninja rags, sandals and a few others.
Also does dexterity effect combat speed of unarmed?

Remember some versions ago being fast was more important than being armored with martial arts.

Yes but you'll be squishy that group combat will destroy you. But micromanaging combat is still the way to train up early on so combat speed definitely helps.

I'm not sure

I feel like Dexterity does, I was slow swinging the plank when I only leveled it. When I went Katana to level Dex, I was swinging 2.5x faster with the plank than before.

He's been offline in Steam for over two months

So I tried to settle on a high plateau with a beautiful view but a bunch of UC rats wants to tax me. I paid but they said they'd come back in a week. Problem is we're planning an expedition towards World's End. Do we need to leave a retard behind to pay these fucks or will they wait there until we come back? Will they fuck the outpost up if we don't pay on time?

What is a good way to earn money? I'm having growing pains with how expensive everything is

I bet you goys pay the bribes too.
Get a scorchlander to sneak, KO and steal everything you need. They also have a good bonus to weapon/armor smithing.
Mine is good enough to knock out the weaker nobles and steal their edge/legendary tier weapons.

I tried to play the game at 2x the damage dealt. Needless to say, after 4 hours of play I need to restart this shit. A fucking Blood Spider just one-shotted me. Fucker came out of nowhere.

Just import an earlier autosave, no need to lose the whole thing.

I just wiped the whole thing out of frustration.

Oh, I didn't think to check that. I'll take a look at his stuff and try to rip out the pertinent bits.

Update on Sif's adventure through the wasteland, FUCKING HELL THIS IS HARD. I had better luck leveling just my heavy weapons ability, this unarmed shit is not for the faint of heart. Although it's hilarious to see a Dust Bandit get his neck kicked in, I feel like my Strength and Dex is so high up that I'll be permanently getting a debuff for XP. Or does it only work based off your Martial Arts? Help me some unarmed fag

There's a reason I always go all out on blood spiders man, I'll exterminate the cunts some day

There's a big difference when you can't block and are forced to dodge, right? If I recall correctly, Strength and Toughness are the ones affecting punch damage, but the best way to level up your Unarmed, is to just carry a shitton of heavy things, since weight actually lowers Martial Arts level, but since that lowers Dodge far more, it means you WILL get hit, but when shit becomes tough, you can always drop everything to reveal your true powerlevel.

There really is. I suppose it kinda makes sense since I made the Last Aryan a super huge dude who's buff as fuck since he swings a giant ass slab of metal around all day. This journey is interesting though, having 4 people taunt and block while he wails on the one poor bastard bouncing around like a ping pong ball is hilarious to watch.

One masterwork grade samurai armor sells for 9k. My problem is no traders in the city have enough funds to buy up all my daily production of top quality wares. Barring that, high and specialist grade bandanas should get your funds started.

Has anyone tried breaking into Tengu's vault yet? Apparently there are powerful characters to recruit but the place is a maximum security prison.

How do I climb up from having no fucking skills/stats?
Sneaking up on and KOing starving bandits helps, but those faggots have a pretty limited range, and everyone else has too high stats to KO.

Too bad for him, I'm doing exactly that for my game.

I've updated my gourd mod. New features include being able to trade in camps and two new subspecies.

is it normal for me to pay taxes, then have a tax evasion army show up and beat the shit out of me?

they are huge cunts anyway so I can see them doing that, but I just want to make sure it's not a bug.

Taxmen don't take shit from nobody.
If you're poor, they give you 3 days to abandon the outpost, but if you just tell them to fuck off they'll probably lose their shit.

I paid taxes to some other dude though, and I still had to grovel to this army of dickheads. They accused me of tax evasion for some reason.

Maybe there is a chance the tax collector just pockets the money

This thread inspired me to make a new character and give the game another go (I'd played previously before they brought in the new map). In the space of three hours I had knocked out a few random people and stolen their belongings, led a few uppity peasants back to the town guards to get their asses handed to them (and then sold said peasants into slavery), been jumped by some horrible skimmer critters, and made over 20k cats by selling more innocent people into slavery.

Being an evil little prick has rarely been so fun.

mfw the NPC tells me "Come to master."

I don't think this game is that simmy.

Anyone know where to find a really high place I can settle in? I want to be the king of the world.

FUCK YOU TENGU.

I only hire greenlanders, because they objectively are the master race, they have no stat penalties unlike the other races.

Buy trade goods at 70-80% markup, go to another city and sell wherever markup is 100% plus.

This game is a wild fucking ride.

Another update, you can now start as a clan belonging to one of the three gourdman tribes. In addition, tribesmen and bloodgourds (the warrior caste) can be recruited as followers. Tribesmen can be recruited by anyone if they have good enough relations with the tribe they are in, but bloodgourds have a set of conditions that must be met. First, they will only follow other gourdmen, so you'll need at least one other one in your party. Secondly, you need very good relations with the tribe they are in, twice as much as the tribesmen. Finally, in order for your gourdman to be accepted by them as chieftan, you need to be a better warrior (have higher stats) than them. Due to the high stats of gourdman fighters, I felt that making it a challenge to recruit them would balance it out and make for a rewarding mini-adventure.

I believe the only thing that remains on the list of things to add to the mod before I can call it feature complete will be the addition of a technocratic confederacy of gourdmen that have abandoned their tribal roots and embraced industrialization.

Top Wew.

I'll be honest, I never expected things to go this far. I was messing around with sliders in character creation and I ended up at that body type, and I was just struck with inspiration. I couldn't just let the idea go to waste, so in a frenzy of creativity I created the Gourdmen mod, finishing at approximately one in the morning.

Why did you make a Gourdmen mod, instead of a Goldstein mod?

Well they need the large noses to sniff out water in the desert. But if I wanted to make a jew mod I'd probably make them a human subrace rather than their own thing.

The raptors aren't hostile in my game. They just eat other animals like the blood spiders and whatnot.

Creatures have their own factions and you can make neutral ones automatically hostile by attacking them unprovoked enough.
In my current game creatures in the herbivore faction, goats and garru, are always hostile now.

I TOLD YOU ABOUT BLOOD SPIDERS BRO, I TOLD YOU.
How the hell did you make it through the swamp without facing them before?

In my experience, they attack places with crops to eat them, which is the main problem of settling in the swamp, although is also correct, also, raptors are a nice way to get rid of corpses.

First two times I visited the swamp, I didn't run into them.

Then I got raped by a pack of ninjas, followed by spiders. TPK ensued.

How bad are blood spiders?
Are they just the swamp version of the fucking beak things, or do they manage to be worse?

Yes. For their size and skill, they hit like motherfucking trucks. We're talking 50 damage or something coming out of a critter with 25 hp in each location. The regular spiders do 50 damage too.
They also come in large groups. If a beak thing is a nigger bringing a few of his best homies to come break your legs, blood spiders are an entire gypsy clan descending upon you.
They're also hard to see in the darkness of a swamp night. Beak Things are pretty easy to spot, if you're actually looking for them.

I almost feel like they are worse because while you expect beak things to hit like a truck the spiders just come out of left field.

And I thought beak things were bad

My first encounter with them was like that too, got mugged by ninjas and then the red cunt appeared and decided that ko'd guy was free food.

You hear a hiss and see a small red headcrab-looking fucker, ready to attack you. You're confident that you can take on a ninja or a sabre and win most of the time. After checking its stats you see it has like 25 HP per limb, and their combat stats are in the 20s, so you think it's gonna be an easy kill, after all, spiders are always trash mobs in videogames. Then it bites your leg, that was NOT what you expected from a small shitty spider, your leg is pretty fucked up, so running away is not an option anymore it's fight or die, so after a few seconds of battle, you kill the spider, you're heavily bleeding, thave a leg broken and right arm almost hanging, and aso you decide to patch yourself up before advancing, when you hear several hisses and see 5 more of them closing in on you…
So they're like Beak Things in that they DO eat you, but unlike Beak Things, you can actually outrun them, or guide them into a town, since The Swamp has several towns scattered around, and if you're lucky, they might down a guard so you can loot it. I just hate them more than Beak Things because I encountered them first, when trying to get out of the swamp to explore the north, they can kill dudes in combat with sheer damage, and drop TWO FUCKING TEETH WORTH 25 CATS EACH OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, SO THEY AREN'T WORTH HUNTING AT ALL.
Luckily, once you are good enough and/or well equipped, you can kill them in a single blow, so they only become a problem when you pass by a nest or are severely outnumbered.

I do like this game but it crashes all the fucking time.
I want to play the new map but it doesn't look like its uploaded yet. IF I like it with the new shit then I might throw down the 20 and be done with it.

This shit isn't even half done. What other horrors lie in wait for us in the east?

This isn't a rhetorical question btw. I heard the map got extended in the experimental build. Give us the bogpill on the enemies there.

They weren't hostile in mine either, until my hunting of a Swamp Turtle resulted in barely knicking the body of one of them. They have not forgiven me since.

IT KEEPS HAPPENING
Pure dumb luck. Same way I found three downed skeletons in the North near Burn's Tower and now have two Mark III planks for my characters

Imagine seeing a tiny mob that you could punt and kill. Now imagine it murdering you like a gang of Fogmen Princes. That's just "'ONE"' Blood Spider. He gets to bring friends

When I get home from work today I'll mad dash my group out of the swamps to find out for you user.

I put the mods in the mod folder but when I boot up the launcher only 2 mods show up. what am I doing wrong?

Giant crabs and bugs

This might not be your problem but the mod folders need to have the same name as the mod file they contain if you want them to work outside Workshop.

How bad are blood spiders?

Rule number 1 of Bloodspiders:
Wear pants. If you can get cinderblocks, strap'em to your legs, if you can't, learn to yoga and levitate. If your legs are busted, ask the Shek to carry you.
Joking aside: they tend to hit your legs a bunch of times which initially you think it only means you can't escape, but then realize how hard that tanks your dodge/defense.

Rule number 2 of Bloodspiders:
Don't sleep in Bloodspider territory. No, it's not safe. It's never safe. No, you can't put down your campbed for 5 minutes. Never do that. They will find you. They will eat you. They are everywhere and they know were all your blood veins are with GPS precision.

Rule number 3 of Bloodspiders:
Don't fight anyone if you're more than 10 meters away from the closest city.
Unless you can one-shot everything thrown at you, a normal "fight" will leave you with some wounds. You will not survive those wounds when the bloodspider appears from behind a tree rubbing it's greedy jewish hands proboscis. If you're knocked out cold, you're fucked, turn to religion, it's your best bet.

Rule number 4 of Bloodspiders:
There's always another pack of'em.
Yeah, you fought Beakthings. You know how those train-hitting birds summon their whole flock when they spot you. What you don't know about bloodspiders is that the 6-7 pack you're fighting is only one of the 6-7 packs surrounding you. Take too long fighting a pack of'em (I estimate you have 3 seconds top) and another red fucker will round a corner and go "owo what's this" on your suculent ass.

Now, the best part:
FUN with Bloodspiders
You know all those villages spread out on the swamp? Little hint: those guys can't fight for shit. Get a spider to chase you. Make sure you're fast for this or you turn into spider chow. The whole pack should follow if you keep within distance. Find another pack if you're filling crazy. Now run into a village and try to time it so you'll outrun them and leave their "agro radius". Wait a few minutes and go back.
WOW, would you look at this, an empty abandoned village with tons of shit for you to steal legally inherit from the late and long-gone inhabitants that perished of old age in a happy home.

That was my problem, Thanks user

No prob

Checked those trips

Now I want that hypothetical brothel mod to include a way to train bloodspiders to leech off a different fluid instead. Stocking your club with one or two could result in rare customers who will pay out the ass for an "exotic" experience, at the cost of Inquisitors or Samurai busting down your door for crimes against humanity and having to fight them off.

Do people living in a shitty post-apoc actually have time for this shit?

In not like they are advancing society

They are. It's just taking really slow. I mean shit, Earth is a multi billion year research project by nature and we don't even have jetpacks and chainsaw arms yet.

Also, Machinists are doing their thing.

I was going to try and make it out of the swamps to get his info, but then I had to leave for a moment to get something to drink.

I came back to this. All of my guys are asleep.

I gave up on the experimental branch.
They're not kidding, it is really buggy shit for enthusiasts only.
Despite all the cool new locations (that you can't tell haven't been finished yet) I'm gonna wait for it to come on stable.

I started as a Shek with the Holy Sword start. As long as I don't get captured, I figure it's gonna go well.
I discovered something neat. One of the mods I'm running is the Hives Evolved or some shit. Changes a bit the Hive villages.
At night, it's very common to enter one of their huts and find 30 suckers sleeping.
After training my attack to 30 by abusing the training dumies in Adamag (boy, that pissed of some of the older Shek) I kidnapped one of the Hive workers and I'm draggin them around just beating the fucker up everytime he can take a punch.
Once, I let him sleep on my nomad tent so he'd get better soon and I could beat him up some more. Fucker slept… then woke and started running. Motherfucker runs fast as shit, had to drop my armor and chase him.
He's catching up on Toughness though. I'm 35, he's at 27. Sucks that he has no weapons though, but I'd wager he'll level up unarmed so fast he'll end up knocking me out one day.

One other neat thing:
>the ACID river
For a second there, I was close enough to actually dying. A few toughness points ago, that'd have been the end.
I'm gonna keep bullying them until the whole village goes extinct. Then I'm gonna start raiding Holy Nation farms like some kind of morally bankrupt Robin Hood.
If anyone got far enough with a Kenshiro bot, can you answer me something:
Is it possible for a single guy to assault an Holy Nation city with enough stats?

Well wake'em up and put the other guys to sleep.
Someone's about to have a nightmare.

Sif 'Chad Thundercock' Sigurd did it all on his own with just his plank. It was actually kind of funny watching 6 dudes get blown the fuck away by a baseball swing.

I'm going to continue my journey to rope around the edges to sneak my way to Fogmen territory. Yes, I want to go INTO the territory. When your cock is as huge and decimating as blonde Guts, nothing can stop you. I'm also hoping to find a Fogmen Prince and drag him with me so I can level my stats off his unconscious body.

Dream Goal: Get three Fogmen Princes, make a shack, lock the door, send one man in to beat the fuck out of them while the Princes are unarmed to get some sick skill boosts off their 90+ stats. My new Kenshirobo, Kaishaku, will hopefully become God through this.

Fucken culturally enrich those Red Saber shits.

...

I think you can squeeze 15 in there.
Call it the Danger Shack, home of the Danger Shag.
Men go in, Gods come out.

Holy shit I finally made a functioning city

With stats in the 50s, you WILL enter and leave without a single scratch, if you want to, try entering the ruins to the east of the Foglands, it's a fun place, also,Fogmen Prince heads are worth like 6k each, so there's that. Fogmen Heavies might be better for training.

I know where you're talking about I think, the place where Burn's Tower is, right? Been through there plenty of times but a return trip sounds highly amusing. I will be going through that area anyway to make my way to the part of the map I've yet to see, the next 3/4ths at the top right.

They will learn the power of the White Man

The hard part is finding 15 Fog Princes. If I can manage that I will make Death Club a reality. Probably, for sport, toss in Holy Empire members or Hungry Bandits. Winners get to join my gang.

Freaking nice user, How defended is it?

Is that your waste disposal lake that you intend on flooding and therefore kill all your citizens in their own shit and piss?

Did you settle in Obedience, you madman?
Don't the spiders cause you trouble?

Also, making a city isn't that hard, provided you know a proper build order.
Bam, there's a solid start, you can only grow from there. You're small scale so little to no raids, farms might atract raptors and other nasties, put a crossbow on the roof, and that's it. You got food, and building materials.
From there, it's just expanding. First by iron mining and refining, then start clothing. After that you invest into power (generators are better, small wind generators take too long to research) and you're set to build a smithery. Stick one guy on armor making and another on weaponsmithing and let them reach 100 skill making cheap stuff that you offload somewhere for cats. Trade those cats for recruits (they're your number one priority) and materials.

I'll add that that city looks might fine.
I lost mine when I changed back to the Stable version (funny: I tried loading the save, the settlement is still there, I can see it on the map but "beta limitation you can't go there" and the camera was above a large track of ocean where the island I settled shoudl have been)
All I posted was Sadneil's clinic. Pretty much the biggest accomplishment I had.
I plan on proceeding with this Shek warrior, and then recruit more fellow Shek. Once I got 10 warriors we'll settle, kidnap women and force them to work for us.

Its pretty well defended since its a faction hub.

I'm fluffing the lake as being used to harvest algae for the biofuel distilleries to convert into energy for the town.

Oh I should clarify, this isn't a town that I built in-game. I mean that I built an NPC-run town using the game editor, for the mod I've been working on.

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=894703352

Is that Floodplains? I love that place. But the spider mechs… the squeeze our organs so hard. We barely got out alive.

Where are the doll joints tho

Yup that's the place. Maybe you'll stand a better chance with some friendly guys around.

I can't model or texture to save my life and outsource that stuff to volunteers. When I can find someone who's willing to make a proper texture for them is when they'll look like how they should.

Are longsword blueprints still missing from the non-experimental version of the game? I want to smith my own, but lookin around the UC cities and vendors didn't reveal any.

Okay, The Grid is an interesting place.I'm trying to think of what these blue colored jagged rocks are.

I've thought about settling there. Big Outpost on the middle of one of those "valleys" with hydroponics.
But it's too tight.

My theory about the place is that grid extended much, MUCH farther. In fact, it might have covered the entire area that The Crater now occupies.
Something fucked up happened there, and it was simply nuked. Most of The Grid is gone, but the nuke missed the mark a few kilometers to the southwest and you get that lovely place left.

Out east/northeast:
-United Cities fags
-Slavers
-Holy Nation patrols
-Skimmers (they hurt but can't take many hits, my crew of 3 retards with 15 melee can pulp 2-3 of them and take a few injuries along the way).
-Retarded bounty hunters who attack me regardless of criminal status or looking like a slave. MFW I sold a few of them into slavery by baiting them away from their friends.

Haven't explored too much of the desert yet. Wandered too far west along the coast and almost got jumped by cannibals.
Grabbed a cannibal-fu and sold her into slavery.

Well now that I am done with this city, I can work on my glorious gourdman metropolis, capital of the rapacious Tark Corporation and its army of reprogrammed Skeleton slaves.

How do you sell people into slavery?

Take them off to a slave shop. The United Cities out east seem to have one in every town.
The guy at the counter is prone to saying "Come to master" whenever I sell someone.
People in certain factions can't be sold, bandits and uppity rebel peasants are fair game though. That said, I've only ever been offered 400 cats for someone. Part of the profit is the strength training from hauling someone back to town.

Thanks user. Also does anyone know who this scorch lander named Cats is? I Found him in the dust king's tower and there was some talk of taking him home but after I free him he says he wants to come with me. Is there anyway to take him home?

Oh man I have a brilliant idea. You know how there is a thieves guild in some towns? Well what if this town had two of them that hated each other? Can you say "gang warfare"?

I'll try to cook up some extra spicy dialogue options too but for now the shinobi dialogue will be an ok placeholder.

Anyone know the answer to this? The Kenshi wiki is remarkably sparse in information, and most that it does have are outdated, like smithing grades. Searching on google only led to false positives where people were talking about swords that are long like the plank or paladin cross, as opposed to the longsword, and threads all the way back from 2016 asking the same thing with no responses.

I meant to use this image

All your recruits are essentially slaves though, you pay upfront and then only give them food afterwards

All right, my gourd race has been updated! For the sake of convenience, I'll be putting the new information here. The main addition is a new and dangerous faction, along with a few other fun surprises.

The Tark:

The nation of Tark is the result of a clan bearing the same name going through a rapid industrial revolution thanks to a generation of radical thinkers and influences from the UC and the traders guild. The result was the creation of a technocratic oligarchy that has become reknowned for its brutal determination to unite all gourdmen under its yoke. Those who are taken away to live in its capital city, Gremd, will have no right to self-defence or weaponry, and live as thralls to the Directors and their lobotomized Skeleton enforcers and the cadre of loyalist soldiers who command them.

Gremd:

The seat of power for Tark, this city is feared by all free Gourdmen as a place of oppression and slavery. Located on a narrow strip of land between the Iron Valley and the Skimsands, Gremd is protected on both sides by harsh, nearly impassible terrain, leaving only the thin northern and southern passages as viable entrances. In addition, this gives them easy access to the Skeletons of the Deadlands, who they kidnap and dismantle to use their circutry to manufacture the now-infamous Tark Battle Droids which make up the bulk of their military. But this formidable organization is not without weaknesses however.

The Gangs:

Gremd has its seedy underbelly as any city does, but due to the greed of the Directors allowing crime to flourish. Two powerful criminal syndicates now battle for control of the black market. While weapons are near impossible to get in the city, the gangs have compensated by developing lethal skill in martial arts.

The Tark Ragheads: Known for their distinctive green bandanas, the Ragheads originated from the underclass of the nation. Despite their propensity for crime, they display a perverse sort of patriotism, and despise the tribes as much as the Directors do.

The Rund Clan: Originally a lesser clan under Mulm, these enterprising vagabonds saw which way the winds were blowing and immigrated to Tark before its hatred of the tribes could fully manifest. But the Ragheads had already established themselves, and only a brutal gang war gave them they leverage they needed to equal their rivals.

ok looking at my description now I can see it could use some polishing. I'll work on that too. Still, big update for the mod, I'm excited, and I'm sure the five people subscribed to my mod will also enjoy it.

You can pump them full of items, treat them like a bipedal backpack. Bonus points if you do have a backpack and give them that too. Now you're really strength training like a real man.

A WEAPON TO RIVAL METAL GEAR

The wiki is a goddamn disaster. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer, either.

I think the rocks could be made out of some sort of material that made electronics the best things ever. The color is vaguely similar to an AI Core after all.

For now, I'm trying to hold off against 10 Beak Things with half my squad down. Life is a struggle.

So I need to know if I can add mods in on an older file or do they need a new game?

Skimmers are actually a great source of food. When there's only one, it gets in maybe one hit tops before my Seven Samurai decimates it. They drop a fair amount of meat, and 6 claws. Most of my stolen food sits in a townhouse while my two peasants lounge around and do nothing because you can't automate industry when you have to buy materials and I'm too poor to recruit more peasants so I can actually get a town started. So I do a fair bit of hunting during adventures, and my samurai just live off of the meat they kill.

Most mods are backwards compatible, especially if they don't mess with scripts. The collection I posted earlier seems to be working fine on the experimental branch.

What bugs did you run into? I haven't found any, except that I'm not sure that Easy Prospecting works.

Thank you once again user

Damn, I'm trying to find a weapon that can be used 1h and trains dex unlike a club, but resembles a western design and isn't a katana or chinese saber. The longsword is practically the only weapon for that, unless the combat cleaver can be used one-handed despite its size. Anyone know if any hackers can be used with only one arm, like how some sabers can?

Bounty hunters are all right but manhunters are fucking shitters.

they have good loot tho

The weapons are biased differently between str/dex. Katanas use and raise exclusively dex. All are of eastern design and vary between 1hand and 2hand use.

Sabres are the next up with about 2/3 dex, 1/3 STR.

You want to raise strength anyway since it lets you wear heavy armor and carry your wounded compatriots without as much speed penalty.
Only gaylords use clubs and hackers.

I don't want to be a weeb, chink or sand-nigger though, and that's pretty much all the designs for katanas and sabers are based off excluding the longsword, and there's no blueprint for that based off this thread's lack of answers. Meanwhile, hackers have the Paladin Cross and heavy weapons have the Plank, so I'm going for those on my dedicated soldiers. I still want my shopkeepers to have a light weapon that can be used indoors without penalties though with only a single arm.

Why are you retarded, user?

There's a European Swords mod I've seen. It ranges from arming swords to zweihanders. I'm not sure about how well balanced it is, but I also can't link it as I'm on my phone.

The mod looks nice, but apparently it has some sort of issue where the weapon blueprints will push all other blueprints out of the stores they appear in. I might install it anyways since I have most base game weapon blueprints at this point. There's another one I'm using at the moment that adds some other western-themed weaponry like falxs and falchions but the weapons have these massive indoor penalties (bigger than any base weapons) and not that much compensating for the downside, so I'll switch it out in favor of the other one.

Some buildings have the floors fucked. You can't interact with anything there and the NPC's kinda "float" between the floors.
Didn't seem like a deal breaker until I noticed that a shoopkeeper that I needed (to buy backpacks for my garrus) got stuck in it. In fact, over 30 guys were stuck in that phantom building. I think it's the "outpost type 2" building. Most towns have one and the Unitec cities capital had 3. I tried reseting population but that only unstuck some NPC's, most of them were already spawned in such buildings and I'd never be able to recruit//trade with them.

There were some issues with hauling too (my farmers kept stealing the metal plates from my smith despite no orders to do so) and the hauling also broke the corpse-furnace so I had 12 dead crabs laying around.
I'm patient enough to wait for stable. I had a shit military squad too, so now my plan is to play Kenshi like an old-school RPG, build up a part of 10 Shek Warriors with skills near the 90's and when the new land becomes available on Stable I'll make myself a new home with the Shek Warriors and captured slaves.

I think that's wrong. I'm using a Nodachi. Katana class but two handed and it's raising my strength.
I'm pretty sure what counts between raising Dex or Strength is the weight of the weapon.
Prety much means you'll eventually outfit a squad with shit tanto's to raise dex since dex increases cutting damage.

Derp, meant man hunters. They're like feral niggers roaming the land, looking to jack anyone.

I have sold several into slavery.

Your strength raises from blocking if you're encumbered. Could be that mechanic. Or maybe i'm wrong the wiki and ingame stats stuff is out of date on a lot of things. Feel free to test it and report back.

Should have said that my dex hasn't increased past 1.
Kinda dumb, the only way to increase it is to fight with light weapons aparently.

Martial arts also works, which is why I'm making my HW gal fight barehanded for a while. It also serves as her backup weapon if one of her arms gets disabled in the future so she can't use her fuckhuge sword.

I've had an issue (possible bug) where wandering pack beasts from caravans will just saunter into my townhouse.

Naturally, I lock the door, beat them down, steal their packs, gut them, and cook the meat. It's a crime, but nobody can see it so the timer wears off without incident. Between that and the meat I get from actively hunting, I'll probably have enough buffer food to start my colony soon. Spent 4k to hire a Hiver that said he was a farmer, and sure enough, he's got 60 points in farming.

I also can't decide where I want to settle down. I've done a couple of desert colonies before, and I sorta want to try the swamp so I can grow rice and fight ninjas.

Rebuild navmesh and reload the game, see if that fixes it.

If it doesn't, might as well submit a bug report so that the devs can take a look at it.

This game is dumb and stupid and I don't wanna play anymore. I got into another fist fight and got my butt handed to me and my Martial arts skill didn't go up by even a single percentage, I've tried fighting armored and weighed down, unarmored and weighed down, With armor and no extra weight without armor and no extra weight against multiple or even a single one and the end result is the same each time. NOT A SINGLE CHANGE

How do I hack this game to let me get my skill up. I've been at this for days and I'm sick of it

Go into the game editor and make a custom start where you have 30-40 martial arts

As in, both you and your opponent were unarmed? And your opponent was an organic humanoid? How skilled are your opponents?
You're probably doing something wrong. Post pics of character's skills, loadout, etc.
Even Oxide the kenshirobot can gain a point or two of martial arts (at ~70 skill) every 2-3 days just going to town on screaming bandits.

Thanks user, I hate having to do this but it seems that every game I play I always run into some glitch that ruins everything.

They were organic, with and without weapons and sometimes above my skills and sometimes below. I fought starving bandits and dust bandits

I have been stuck on that percentage and skill level for days now. But right now my guy is a human and is not wearing any clothes to show you his true stats but I was wearing armor with a ton ore in for training my skills but I usually only wear pants and a pair of sandles

My dreams have been dashed but at least he is fit right?

Anyone know why my guys are refusing to mine iron ore anymore? If i click on it now their goal just switches to "aimless"

Did you make sure to collect the ore?

That's really weird, I got +6 in Martial Arts just by throat fisting a bunch of Swamp Turtles my time in the desert. Your strength and toughness are about the perfect level however, you might have to do what many of us going down this journey have done. Kidnap someone, put them into a locked room, and beat the ever living shit out of them anytime their eye slightly opens. Following that advice, I was able to rise pretty quickly in martial arts.

Did you open the iron deposit to take the ore out? They'll stop mining it if it's already been filled from one piece.

If the ore deposit is full, and this is a settlement, build an ore storage container nearby and shift+rclick it with one of your miners. Then move the task in their queue above the mining task. Now they'll move the iron from the ore node to storage every time there's a piece or two waiting.

You can fully automate industries this way, because anyone who needs iron for a task should automatically run over to the storage container and grab it. Since miners generally work faster than smiths, I tend to put my storage unit in the same building as my smithy.

I did that as well when I captured a starving bandit leader that I wanted to make my waifu but she kept trying to run away but nope nada. I just wanted to be a Kung-fu fighter

youtube.com/watch?v=PwvhLAws5Hg

I've never stolen something quite this oddly useless before.

I mean, it was Edge 2, I HAD to take it. But the sale value is that of a mid-grade salvage Katana.

All right, so in order to keep players careful I'd decided to add in a faction of slavers that will wander the streets after dark and capture anyone who was KO'd. Good way to dispose of rival gang members if you end up picking a side in the turf wars.

Chad Thundercock and crew came upon 10 Beak Things. The world is a deadly place, a greatly dangerous one. When Sif had came back up, filled with fury, he took down four more before he fell down into his recovery coma. For now, I am attempting to make my skeleton distract the creatures to a ruin where the security spiders can kill them.

May God bless this brave soul, may he give the crew a much longer life to live. Their story can't end, not like this!

Hopefully I embedded this video right, first time trying to do something like that

So good so far.
Not bad.
Something is fucky, and I think I know what.

Wear the heaviest armor you can without being encumbered. If you're encumbered, you're going to get knocked out easily (0 dodge) and thus fail to gain martial arts at any speed.
You have two options when it comes to encumbrance: You can train strength, dodge, and toughness, or you can train martial arts and dodge.
Seriously, the only way I can imagine you having this much trouble is if you've been tanking your dodge down to 0 in almost every fight.
Try wearing martial artist wraps/bindings. If you're punching metal (and if the enemy blocks with a weapon or is wearing armor you ARE punching metal) your arms will be taking damage, which might be why you're getting fucked up. Skeleton martial artists, being made of metal, don't have to worry about punching metal.

It also wouldn't be bad for him to do pure dex training with a katana. Dex means faster attacks, and more attacks means more XP.

Pic unrelated.

Is there a way (besides that one mod) that lets you kill downed enemies? I always was annoyed with them popping back up.

How do I do a custom start?

Just open the editor, go here, and reverse engineer your own start from looking at the other starts that already exist. The FCS is one of if not the most user-friendly modding tools to exist, even the most technically illiterate can figure the basics out in under half an hour.

Well, this looks fucking rad. Apparently the sand effect that you get on buildings now is blue for this area, too. Prospected the area and all the important stats look decent.

There are also roaming pairs of Beak Things everywhere. I'm torn between settling here and in the swamps. I feel like I won't ever get properly raided here.

This may not look like much, and that's because it isn't. But it will be when I construct a glorious fortress to tower over the peasant-folk.

Took a few minutes but I got it. Made a guy with. Plank and good combat stats to fuck around with. Then made a chick with a pet beak thing, that was fun watching it go to town on bandits.
Maybe tomorrow Ill go balls to the walls and make a leviathan.
Then Ill make a normal start.

Not gonna lie, the more you learn how to use the FCS the more you want to do with it. I started out just making custom starts and now I've made two race mods and have just learned how to make functional cities.

user, I already tried doing that user and all it did was cause the battles to last longer but still no improvements to skill

I look forward to the /bane/ settlement and Boys♂Next♂Door

If you ever get drunk enough or grow big enough balls to fight Beak Things, make sure you have at least one skeleton with you. My entire party was saved from being eaten alive by the valiant efforts of four skeletons and luring them into mechanical spiders. I have decided they no longer have to carry the packs and now have begun a search for more HiveMen to make into my pack mule slaves.

I fear you may lack the heart of a KUNG FU WARRIOR with this attitude of giving up! Don't just stop because it is tough, look at me, I am fighting off two packs of Beak Things with half dead men and haven't lost a person yet. You can grind it out user, you can make it without cheating to be the greatest giga nigger Kenshirobo this side of the Outlands. You simply must never give up!

user it's one thing to be leveling slowly, but it's entirely another to be training for days without a single improvement.

But that's just it, user. I do know how that is. I used the plank since I started the game and nothing was note aggravating than seeing my char stand still and only block, barely attacking. Yet I kept at it, by the third week of playing I had some gud stats and later on to now, my char is a slayer of the world.

Here's what you gotta do fam. Fuck this heavy armor shit. That's good if you have about 50-65 toughness. What you need to do is dress for success. What helped me the most was going to the Swamps and finding Swamp Turtles. They have no attack animation as far as I can see and they won't one shot you. They do, however, have a metric fuck ton of stats and HP. Meaning that you can wail on them with little happening to you. As well, sometimes you have to pick up a katana and do similar. Dex matters and doesn't make you a huge faggot like in DS. It controls how fast you can attack and how fast you can evade.

Follow the American Dream Plan of exterminating the wild life until you are a God. I believe in you user.

I guess I'll give it one more shot then

If it doesn't work feel free to call me a Rocky wannabe faggot

Update on my own adventure as I've practically made thus thread my play by play.

Kenshirobo will live on forever as my hero. He might be the only one I'll ever save scum to keep alive.

If you want a head start without messing with the construction set for a martial arts character, could try recruiting CrumbleJon in Mongrel.

All of his starts start at 25 except strength, that is at 50-60 I believe.
He also starts with 25 in martial arts and heavy weapons, but everything else has 1 like dodge and other melee weapon types.
I've been training his dodge with captured Blood Bandits, its been going pretty well.

I just had to kill 7 Beak Things, coming one or two at a time. I think they just spawned nearby, I didn't even see them moving around before and they didn't come in the direction of the nearby nest (which I hope the tax collector walks through).

The sole redeeming factor is with everyone taking such hard hits, even my peasants have their toughness increasing at a nice rate. The Seven Samurai are all in their 30s or 40s now. Biggest issue is that I'm going to run out of medkits soon, so I'll need to start selling off stolen goods that I'm not using.

Also, protip: if you're settling in an area with a lot of animals and don't want to let meat and leather go to waste, you can shift-rclick on an animal to set a recurring "harvest from animal" job. Your workers will just keep the meat in inventory, so make sure the job in the queue below that is "haul to meat barrel", by shift+rclick on your meat storage.

I haven't played since May. I already had 28 (4 squads) of 50/50/40 stat characters with high 90s in skills and max research. Everyone using some ancient weapons and masterwork armors. City built, over 1 million banked. Meh.

There really is no point to this game without faction warfare like Mount & Blade. I also don't know if diplomacy in even in the table.

Faction warfare has been planned but who knows how long that will take to be fully implemented.
Believe there are a few mods that try to add it, not sure how well they work.

I tried user I really did. I went back to the swamp and spent 30 minutes or so looking for swamp turtles and then got lucky and ran into 2 of them but 1 of them was stuck so I fought the other and he was doing 20 damage a pop and then fought the other which almost busted me up, I was then going to wait on it waking up but decided against it when they were taking to long to wake up so I got out of there and when I noticed Blood spiders speeding to where I just left and things went down hill from there and I ran from Village to Village to escape Ninjas, and different swamp hillbillies attacking each other's town and when I tried to take some items from the downed invaders and sell them the merchant called me a thief and chased me with his giant sword. Every single thing in the swamp was doing more damage to me than I was to them.

Thank you user

Like another user has said, once you cross 30 with martial arts, it actually gets a lot easier.
Dodge can be a bit slow to increase at any level, usually have 2 or 3 captives training at once to also gain a bit of toughness.
Probably should also do some dexterity training with a junk katana to get his general combat animation speed up.

Have noticed a small increase in speed of dodge and striking animations going from 25 to 45 dex.

user this is my character.

I never said it would be a peaceful experience, user. Tell me before you give in, did the stats go up at all?

Are you on 0.96.27?

Welcome to the swamp, scum!

I'm on the latest one posted in the thread

I had to travel through the swamp before when my character spawned deep south where the slavers main base was located

Those swamp turtles allowed me to get to level 14. I couldn't find another one of them no matter where I looked

The best way to find Swamp Turtles is for them to find you. I've had packs walk by me whipe my guys slept and I fast forwarded time. They're like IRL animules, you just wait for them to appear.

I'm glad I at least got you up one level, you overcame the 2 - 3 day lock that you were on.

Explains the fog.
What did those niggers do all those years ago?

I can't do that, Everything else comes after me like I had a tracer on or something, from ninjas to blood spiders and I never stayed in one place to long before it was attacked and I doubt the town I was at will be around for much considering the two groups attacking it and all of the blood spiders on the way for the downed fighters.

Yeah, and my sword skills went from 1 to 10 in like 5 minutes I guess this game was telling me to become a swordsman from the beginning when I found a katanna. I also found a mkIII holed sword.

Dunno, but there's spooky shit in the new map, too. The one really big structure there creates a permanant dust cloud around it, and only around it.

Maybe HAARP went wrong?

user if its the one in the OP, that is 0.96.17

Latest right now is 0.97.2, check what version you're on.
Magnet for anyone who doesn't have it.

I'm thinking that place might feature some strong character later like the bugmaster.

What place? I've been there but besides Mongrel I didn't see anything. Or anyone. It was very peacefull and had lots of food and water for everyone.
The only strange thing about the Foglands is that pile of Cats right in the middle. 29.000 cats right there for the taking with a mysterious Edgemaster III Topper on it.
I make sure to grab about 10 very weak characters with no combat skills and go there everytime I start a newgame to get me started on this wonderfull secret.

Really? Where in the foglands is that?

t. fogmen

does it have cute girls?

There are waifus yes

can you post pics? and what can you do with them?

...

I made this one awhile back, will probably use as a character in one of my mods later.

You can alter the appearance of any NPC you control so as long as you recruit a female character you can make them a waifu.

Protect their smile. No lewd mods yet.

Ssshhhhhh, no tell no-hive.

You can make dresses for them.

On a scale 1 to ghetto where is farming algae in a can and then pressing it into an edible cube?

You're about towards 'Atlantis Niggers' on that scale.

god damn does this game not have anti aliasing

I figured

Oh it does I just disable it for performance

It looks like shit either way.

Ayyy what a guy, this is the unstable version right? But its the one with the new map segments?

Yep, opens up more UC cities in The Great Desert, Holy Nation UC warzone around Bast, the skeleton city in The Black Desert and more.

For the theif/ninja characters, a few nobles have Meitou weapons but have a ton of guards with nearly top tier stats and gear who almost always escort them. Attacking the nobles will make you an enemy of the faction, be careful.
There is also the prison Tengu's Vault, my ninja tried breaking in and nearly died. Several characters in the 20-40 state range to rescue and possibly recruit.

Oh shit, is that the place where the skeletons manufacture their high end blades?

It's the Black City.
Technically, no. You're thinking of the Scrapyard. That's suposed to be further south. South east is also where the Scorchlanders come from. No idea what's there.

Black City is pretty cool mind you and great refuge if you're a skelly. You can also hire Sadneil for free since he's depressed and wants to go away from there.

Its a pretty rough place, constant acid rain, pissed off broken skeletons and iron spiders surrounding the town.
Kind of annoying for characters who aren't skeletons and hivers, all others will need to wear gear to protect from the rain or slowly be melted.

They also won't sell you shit, although you could always try stealing from their armory.

I thought the lore says that Mk tier weapons come from Black Desert City. Are you thinking of Catun tier?

I'm not sure now.
Probably. Catun from Scrapyard, Mk from Black city? Could be.
But then where do the Meitou come from?

Metiou and Cross come from legendary smiths i think.
Think there are at least 4 Metiou in game with latest version and no Cross yet.

In the unknown tower I found plans for Naginatas. I just thought I should mention it because I just remembered an user wanting them

Kenshi isn't over until you have sat upon the throne

well fuck must be pretty easy when you're some telekinetic demigod floating armor all over the place

So, I've got a weird problem where the game won't open in the correct resolution and it's fucking up all the windows in game.

I'm setting it to run at 2560 x 1440 but it's running at something slightly different in the horizontal dimension and making the right half of windows in game unusable and all the button text get cut off.

Any ideas what to do?

Run in windowed borderless mode instead. I had the same issue for my native resolution when trying to run fullscreen, and switching to that solved it.

So what's with the lackluster player controls? Is this really it? You just click on an enemy and hope for the best?

just fucking alt+enter once, after game launch
gotta do it always you launch game, though

Holy shit, I don't remember cannibal country being this active.

Defended my fledgling outpost from a horde of cannibals, shrieking bandits, squad of berserkers and pack of beak things all at the same time.
Right after the fight, a wandering skeleton with stats around 70s and nice gear for some reason decided to attack one of my characters and nearly killed her.

Jesus Christ how horrifying

Interior decorations + assigning sitting around as a job = maximum comfy.

Meanwhile the dust bandits heard I can't fight and are now extorting me for 2,000 cats every 2 days or they will raid my house with the look I literally just found scavenging. Why does this game hate me

Where are you settled in?

I had set in the borderlands as a temp training base for when I wanted to become a Kung-fu master but since the game told me to sod off I was going to start training as a ninja or become the Afro samurai

Aw hell, for

Dust bandits found me too.

Given that my main party is named after a movie where samurai defend a village of peasants from bandits, the choice was clear.

I took 4 of them as prisoners, including their boss. Two of them got away alive. They haven't come back.

Lucky, I can't even dream of doing that because I'm all by my self and would instantly lose, at least my melee weapons skill is farther than my martial arts skill was, If I had spent all that time training weapons instead I wouldn't even need to worry

Hey would anyone like to take a look at my gourdman mod? Specifically the city. I want to see how it could be improved.

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1161970256

You can immediately spawn in the city by choosing the Rund Clan or Raghead starts.

im downloading this game right now. Is there a loonix version?

going lich king?

Quick, fellow Kenshians, post more screenshots of crews. I love seeing other anons' parties

My skills with melee skill is higher in a few hours than what took me days on my martial arts skill and I won a 1v1 against a dust bandit and gutted him like a fish, I guess it's the Samurai life for me. Now all I need is best bud and a waifu to travel with me after I set up my complete my future base.

Get numbers. Instead of one guy with absurdly high skills, I have 7 guys with acceptably high skills. For the past month and a half in-game, they've mostly just sat around defending the village from Beak Things. Everyone's toughness is in the 50s, melee attack is 30s to 40s. After some time, I'll have 7 guys with absurdly high skills. At that point, I'll probably attack the Holy Empire in force.

The reason I never do that in games is because I hate having to manage too many people because it throws me off

Management is nil. Select two guys to be your medics, make sure they've got lots of first aid kits, and shift+click on the medic button with them selected. They'll now heal everyone else in the squad when out of combat. Take another guy, give him a good-sized backpack, load it up with food. Everyone will eat out of his supply. Find the slowest person in the squad, they're now the leader. Use tilde to select everyone in squad, shift+click the leader to unselect, right click him, and follow. You now have a properly automated army. You only need to micromanage when you've got people unconscious, and that's just a matter of carrying them around.

The return you get for having lots of people is significant. Enemies can't block simultaneous flanking attacks, so you'll deal much more damage than you would solo. On top of that, nobody should ever die unless the party gets wiped by blood spiders or the like, because you'll always have someone around to heal and set up camp beds (beds aren't necessary, but healing in the field is very helpful, and campsites are comfy). On top of that, you can diversify your weapon types to take advantage of damage bonuses, or inherent qualities - katanas and the like get some massively powerful combos that nobody talks about, while heavy weapons get the baseball swing that hits lots of enemies.

tl;dr you can automate armies and they're vastly greater than the sum of their parts

I'll take a good one once the samurai are out of the foglands. A new version just got pushed to experimental with some major balance tweaks, but I fucked up and forgot to not reset squad positions, so everyone ended up near the borderlands. The peasants are running home, but I figured I'd try to grab a fog prince and look for ruins while the Samurai are in the area together.

I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks.

Was reading some discussions and found some related info.
They're not broken. Apparently there is a small chance to encounter wandering skeletons in a few parts of the map. Seems to be aligned with the regular skeleton faction. Can occasionally be recruited but half the time might turn hostile, like what happened to me, saying something like "can't let you get away human" They will usually be really strong, sometimes squads of them can spawn so watch out.

Saw the notes for 0.97.4, apparently the dev tweaked "chance of death", wants characters to die way more often.

Oh fuck
More bleeding out, untreated wounds degrade even when above 0 health, as untreated wounds get larger they degrade faster, and wounds also degrade 50% faster overall.

Now I just have to wait for someone to upload it.

This game does not want me to be happy.

Yeah. Soloing is going to be a lot harder.

Full patch notes for the lazy:

Might be due to unarmed never causing bleeding, but massive damages. At the moment my kenshirobot outright kills people by doing the following

Thank god. I'm this close to declaring war against the entire UC because they let the slavers steal the dustking from my property.

Soloing is going to be a lot harder.

Full patch notes for the lazy:

If you want it to be even HARDER, install that mod that raises the attacker cap.
It means you can be simultaneously attacked by even more people.
I thought it was gonna suck, but besides the reverse advantage when YOU have the bigger numbers, it's also fuckawesome to see my Shek parry 12 diferent strikes and then lop someone's head off.
This game does need dismemberment.

Gourdmen can now be harvested for their nutritious fluids. Each has one barrel's worth, containing about 65 nu.

Claw my main, uses polearms. Next is kat who fell into the medic/thief/scout role, saved us from staving and kepts our wallets full. Ruka is the tank, plankmaster, she does alright.
Then we go the skeleton, hes an alright fellow. Not sure what I'm doing with him yet.

Far left: The Seven Samurai. Lowest toughness is 48. Weapons skills and melee atk/def are all high 30s to 40s. Naturally, they're all named after the Seven Samurai, and Kikuchiyo has his trademark squat and Nodachi. He also doubles as a thief when we need one. Gorobei is the squad medic, with Kambei and Haihachi filling in if he's downed. Kambei is the tank of the party.

Then the peasants. There are two groups, simply because it's easy to select all in a squad, and the farmers all follow the same set of orders - although with 3 large cotton farms and 5 XL wheat farms, they sometimes backlog. Of the other peasants: Blend does all fabric and armor work, Izumi (unique) does research and construction, Hand does fuel distillation and tends the generator, Jewel is the cook. Ray is a unique slave that you can buy for 1k that joins the party immediately, he mostly hauls things around. Aki is a dedicated miner. All non-fighters are set to work the stone mine and processor when they don't have anything else to do, because that wall won't build itself.

Burn is a unique skeleton you can get in the Floodlands. Interesting lore bit - according to him, skeletons aren't immortal and do seize up over time. He's quite old and had retired, but joined us for one last adventure. I'm training him to be a Kenshirobot. I'm hoping to get several others, hence the Monk squad.

Everyone that's been around a bit has ridiculously high athletics and toughness, because the village is spaced out and beak things attack frequently. The oldest peasants have 30-something toughness, because they'd join in the defense against beak things.

The other 4 pics are of the settlement. The bughouse is both bar and barracks. The longhouse is prison and temporary (maybe permanant) laboratory. The L-house is for the peasants - food processing, cloth processing, leather, tailoring, all of it happens there. The small shack contains two batteries and the fuel still.

My settlement is a small mining camp next to the capital of the United Cities (pic 1). The site was founded by Jaolo, daughter of a disgraced noble who keeps her face concealed so her family's history won't impede her quest for power. Alongside her is her ever-present Doll servent, Mirem (pic 2). As it currently stands, life in the mining camp is rather rough, with the main source of food being compressed algae cubes and barrels of Gourdman fluids harvested from downed bandits of the same species. (pic 3) Good food is reserved for lady Jaolo and her compatriots, but occasionally the resident pack mule will steal something for himself. My current construction project is a dormitory for my guards (pic 4) who are currently working the mines until I can aquire more peasants, and dormitories for the workers. As it stands now, I have rooms for three of my guards but they lack beds, and cots separated by partitions for all of my workers (pic 5). All characters besides Jaolo, Mirem, and their three guardsmen are more or less considered entirely expendable and replaceable, as befitting the attitude of a UC aristocrat. Endgame is getting into the court of the United Cities and becoming its ally, but they face many trials including bandits, taxes, local fauna, and starvation.

Whoops pic 4 did not show, here are my guards.

Jesus. This shit right here is the stuff of nightmares.

buhuh

Nice, I'm not the only one. My guys will be settling down soon themselves.

Not if you add ~ at the end of all of them, then it becomes interesting.

Why even play the game if not to go full autism. Also I've completed my rooms. Here's the peasant's, warrior's, and noble's rooms, respectively. In the last pic, the entire building is intended to be the noble's quarters.

Spoilers here, because this has to be the "something awesome" that was added to the Deadlands in experimental.

It's terrifying. They all latched on to Kikuchiyo. They follow him everywhere he goes, and attack anything nearby, even if it's neutral (just got rich off of some smugglers because of it). The victims of the robot swarm never turn hostile to the party, just the robots. Tried to raid Tengu's vault with them, but even with almost 30 of them, they got wrecked by the Samurai - their weapons are shit.

Their stats are all very high though, so I'm going to try to keep a few around for the dojo.

I'm becoming a little sympathetic towards the Holy Nation's viewpoint. It also gives me even more questions about the lore.

...

It does. Specifically, it disables the queue. They won't drop whatever job they're doing at that moment, you have to give them a move order or something to get them to stop whatever they're working on. Or they'll stop when the current job cycles and finishes.

I did the freedom seekers start as a bunch of hivers and for some reason one of them spawned with the stats and equipment of the retired captain start. Not that I'm complaining, he's really helped against the swarms of hungry bandits and dust bandits in the canyon I setteled in.

I wish you can easily add in flags and other emblems without modding so that you can start an American colony.

I debated it, I've had this character for a long while now and in one of his 'stories' of mine, he has become full on Lich King.

Sif's party had increased as time went on. From the days of old to now. He still chases after the goal of becoming the most renowned, most feared, man on the world. As well for the perfect woman to help keep his bloodline and his race alive.

Rane the Giant seeks out admiration from Sif and to impress the others of the group. She especially wishes to make it known to the skeletons that have recently joined, who commonly state the flesh bags are weak, just how powerful a Shek warrior truly is.

Ruka simply wishes to perhaps gain enough money to start her own farm and perhaps a family with Burn sometime after the adventuring days are done with the group. She may be shy and modest, but her skills with the plank will cave in the chest of anybody who tries to cross her.

Burn is on for one last adventure before he spends his time finally seizing up. A small portion of him also finds the means of not wanting to die just yet, especially after meeting all these people.

Silvershade was saved out of a huge gambling debt. Sif and his men had been inside of a bar within the Swamps when they saw a conflict between the Hive member and some of the dirtbags there. As Silver Shade was attacked by them, the crew of Mercenaries sprung into action, taking down the persons of color to defend Silvershade. Now, in debt for life by their saving of him, the Hive member deals with stealth and carrying around their items.

Kaishaku scoffs normally at all the heavy armor. He believes fully that one who has become one with their body and light on their feet is one who will survive for eternity. He fights desperately to achieve the ability to live forever as a Skeleton, and he is close to figuring out the means of how. .

Ribs is a bit of an oddity. Even in terms of skeletons. The robot is simply amazed with the concept of death and wants to know what lies beyond. He shows this by having a guardless katana, as there is nothing to fear about death. There is only something to discover after it.

Nikon is the group's 'bouncer'. He prefers to use a club to beat down anyone who tries to harm the group or just be a general nuisance. Quiet and few of words, he spends most of his time sitting and admiring the folk around him. He particularly has a harsh outlook on the Flesh Bags within the world. Only the group's members were ones he saw to be "Worth the time of meeting". No one is too certain about this swamp-bound Skeleton, except that he's got a damn good swing.

The group is a bunch of wanderers for now. I've not found a place I really want to settle down in yet.

That's normal. Freedom Seekers always gives you an old soldier, so you won't be entirely defenseless.

Well this was a tragic turn of events. A raid by bounty hunters, of all people (none of my characters had a bounty even) resulted in half my workforce killed. Things even looked bad for my lady and her warriors, but thanks to the valiant sacrifices of the peasantry, who gave all their attention to healing the nobility to the point that one collapsed from blood loss right after exhausting all her medical supplies, no one important was harmed.

Here are the survivors. I have disabled all jobs for the time being, to give the common folk time to morn. The lady and her guards shall also be present in a show of solidarity. Lady Jaolo's android servant could not attend, regrettably, as they are off on a quest to secure engineering blueprints to construct technologically-advanced devices. I'm sure he'll be shocked to hear what transpired in his absence.

It doesn't for me. My game is possibly outdated though.

To the victor go the spoils.

Are there sex mods?

not yet, the FCS is really easy to use, but also limited in what it can do. You can't really do anything but change and mess around with the building blocks the devs gave you, you can't inject your own into the mix. Hopefully that changes with the release of 1.0.

Rane and Burn are some of my favorite unique recruits, personally.

Rate my noble house I built for the leader of my group.

Ceiling fans/10

Air circulation is important.

Are shop counters worth building or is it better to just load some guys up and go to nearby towns? Will anyone actually show up to my liquor store in the middle of nowhere?

It's only now I realize how stupid it is that you can't carry a friendly/neutral NPC that isn't a member of your faction to safety if they're knocked unconscious/unable to run, like rescuing victims of the fogmen from their poles. Sure, I'd love to carry Shinobi Guard #1238 from his own personal hell, but apparently his friends will attack me on sight when they see me stumbling out of the fog carrying him over my shoulder towards the town gate like a bunch of retards. Sure do wish the dev didn't take out that ability, which earlier versions of the game had.

How would you even fix that? It would need an AI that knows your intent.

Have a dialog window pop up and ask you. If you're lying you take a hit to reputation or something.

Finland?

97.4 (Experimental ofc)

one note - no need to launch it through "vt_launcher", go straight for kenshi_x64

Thanks for the dolphin porn, fam.

If you're bringing them back to their own faction and you're friendly or neutral they should ask you to hand the injured guy over when they see you carrying them. If you already have a bad rep with them it's reasonable for them to assume you're up to no good and attack you to rescue their friend.

Needs more degenerate sex dungeons/10

Its good in a pinch but you'd be better off selling directly to already existing markets. Caravans will buy stuff but you won't make a profit nearly as fast.

Well did you see the bottom right room?

It has no beds.

What this game needs is Sims 1 or 2 level of building customization.

Anyone have any advice on using more than one storage building? Seems like they'll fill up one just fine but then all their jobs grind to a halt because they don't want to use the other ones for some reason. And if you set their jobs to include two or more of them they just endlessly haul stuff between them for no reason.

fair enough

Im confused

new biome map my dudes. God I love thinking about all the cool shit that will be in the unreleased area.

Maybe that particular noble likes standing sex or pounding people against a wall instead.

Gonna laugh so hard if it has phallic trees.

The biome distribution doesn't make any sense. It's like the dev is putting shit there because it looks cool for him, makes the game into a theme park minus the content.

You can go into the very edge of it right now, looks like a desert with a lot of large skeletons and bones scattered around

That did cross my mind, but I figured that the continent no longer conformed to traditional geological rules after the First Empire irrevocably scarred the landscape. The whole place is a layered pile of fuck caused by pollution, exploitation, and superweapons.

Yeah but the transition from one biome to the next is pretty jarring. He should have thought about a bigger transition area where both biome mixes.

I suppose so. I don't mind it personally since I like the fucked-up and jarring look because my sense of aesthetics is broken, but I can see how most people wouldn't like it. Also are we do for a new thread?

Oh I saw the page number go up I guess not.

is it single player only or multiplayer only.

singleplayer

definitely going to give this a try. reminds me of mount and blade but with building

It can be pretty fun yeah. I personally enjoy modding it more than playing it almost, but I've put in like 400 hours so I probably enjoy both a lot.

I'm finally ready to forget my dreams of becoming a Martial Artist and become a Samoorai, Where can I get the best blades,Train to get the best skills, Find the best crew,Get the best looking waifu and make a lot of money?

The United Cities are a place of opportunity friend

Do you have a map you can post so that I can find it user?

They can be found in The Great Desert and The Hook

so,can it run on a toaster?

No

new mod soon comrades

...

it'll be fiiiiine

probably

maybe

Also what the hell is this thing? And even more important than that, Where is the waifu mod I'm tired of all these ugly chicks I just want to wander this wasteland with a bro and a waifu

Land urchin?

And even more important than that, Where is the waifu mod I'm tired of all these ugly chicks I just want to wander this wasteland with a bro and a waifu

Doesn't exist

You'd think that would be one of the first mods.
Holla Forums Waifu mod when?

Its definitely possible. A decent texture artist could add a few new heads with more attractive features.

The mod this city is attached to has just been uploaded if anyone wants to check it out:

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1172738675

wow, I remember playing a lone soldier, wrecking/using a hit and run tactics against bandits, and marching through the wilderness to grind my running skill. Then found out you can construct things and quit immediately after that.

HOLY SHIT DO NOT GET NEAR THE FALLEN TOWER IN ARACH, ONLY PAIN AWAITS IN THE FORM OF INFINITELY RESPAWNING SPIDERS, I KILLED LIKE 3 MORE HORDES OF 10 SKIN SPIDERS EACH AND THEY KEPT COMING.
In contrast, I tried going to the infested lab to genocide blood spiders and only found 3 on the way there, I was sorely dissapointed

Someone give me clever racial epithets you could apply to a species of humanoid androids please. I just found out Kenshi has specialized racial slurs and now I gotta incorporate that into my mod, but I'm hitting a wall here.

...

Hah that's the actual name of the race but I'm gonna use the other ones.

Glad I was able to help user, Also will there be waifus?

There are female variants yes. And female (male) variants if you are into that sort of thing, though I swear that wasn't what I originally intended.

A significant update has been made. You can now farm fish and make booze out of fish. Don't ask how it works. Also you can be a drug dealer/become a slumlord, so long as you pay the criminal underworld its pound of flesh.

New thread when?

Soon probably. I forgot which page it was appropriate to do a new thread on but we must be getting close.

13 and up is okay to make a new thread for

oh well then it should be any minute now then.

I guess I'll make the new thread then

New THREAD
