Historical fiction has always been shit. Think of any movie or book "based on real events" and guess what? They've all taken liberties. Braveheart for example is very bad. Or how about The Three Musketeers or The Count of Monte Cristo? They've all given very wrong impressions about how those periods actually were, how history actually happened. Gamedevs doing the same thing is nothing new other than they do it for a political reason and not just because they are also lazy or want to fudge history to make it seem more entertaining because they don't actually know history.
