Okay but seriously, while this is a terrible way to pose the question, it's actually hard to answer and then explain why the game is in some sense suited for smart people. I think ultimately smart people are seeking more "stimulation" and novelty because they live in a bigger mental world that retains more knowledge and makes more connections. They probably have a bigger mental appetite and keep asking for more and more experiences.

Chess is the pop culture answer, and I'm inclined to say it's more of a meme - even though smart people play it - that parents buy into for the misguided notion that it will cultivate the intellect of the child should they autistically obsess over it. I'm not saying chess doesn't have anything interesting going on at even high level gameplay; I just don't think that's something you normally get into unless you've got nothing else to stimulate your mind, you buy into the meme yourself, or your parents coerce you into it at a young age.

Some "games" are more like a canvas where there isn't necessarily any goal other than to please your own fancy drawing something interesting. You could make an argument that such games attract creative, artistic types of intelligence. OpenTTD comes to mind but also the more lowbrow Minecraft and Terraria come to mind as offering prominent creative aspects. You certainly don't have to be smart to play these games, but if creating stimulates you, there's potentially a lot of depth.

I think what a smart person seeks is sophistication and depth, not incoherent complexity, but rather a package with features that work together, and the more you play the more possibilities that are revealed. A game like Pong won't work; it's just too bare bones. But that's not to say surprisingly simple on the surface games can't attract smart people. If I were to give a programming language analogy, I might use the lambda calculus. It's one of the smallest programming languages, consisting of only three types of expressions, but plenty of smart people have spent much time analyzing it and obsessing over it. The reason such a small programming language is worth anyone's time is that, in theory, the three expressions of the language can be combined in clever ways to do anything a more fully featured purely functional programming can do. With three features, and a little technique, infinite depth is unlocked, but in the case of the plain lambda calculus, nobody uses it for more practical matters as it lacks sophistication, or managed complexity. While you can do anything in it, nobody wants to do so in that paradigm, as the necessary features are not present that would tame arising complexity and tediousness with higher level perspectives.

Chess being considered the "game for smart people" comes from a basic knowledge of inteligence. The better chess player will be able to analyze plays farther into the future than his oponent, predicting all combinations up to several turns and measuring his condition in that state, picking the one path that not only leads him to advantage but also gives his opponent less room for fighting back.

However in the case of chess, I'd guess it's yet another "correlation vs causation". It's not that smart people are drawn to chess but rather that chess can only be interesting considering the mind game that only smart people can achieve, so naturally most chess players will be smart, despite not that many smart people actually playing chess.

Your analogy with the lambda calculus is interesting considering you mentioned Minecraft as "low brow". The game features Redstone as a way to make simple mechanisms, hovewer the presence of the Redstone Torch that acts like a NOT Gate means that you can construct any logic gate at all and therefore any kind of circuit. Even use it for flip-flops so you have memory.
This is perhaps a very small section of the Minecraft community that plays extensively with Redstone, however most people also download and use Mods that use a very large amount of details to shape their world and their gameplay.
Thaumcraft comes to mind, where the whole world is a canvas to paint with your magic and you can create advanced golem automation solutions or alchemical contraptions, always with the fear of taint ruining everything.

Another example would be Factorio. The point of the game is simple enough, just leave the planet once you can make a rocket but the players themselves don't see that as the purpose of the game. Rather the competition comes from trying to make the most efficient factories possible and fun comes from recombining the game elements (conveyor belts, factories, power lines) to see how efficient you can be.

I suppose that there's no such thing as a "smart game" but rather smart ways to play a game. Minecraft and Terraria is low brow but with some inteligence you can automate a lot of things to make your life much simpler.
Even The Sims, considered a very casual game that people play for the doll house experience can be a "smart game" if you play it for the different combinations in gameplay you can use to affect the whole world.

Anyone can play a "smart game", but it's not gonna be as enjoyable for most people that can't establish connections between story and gameplay elements.

For instance, in Deus Ex shortly after the beginning, some guards will give you gas grenades that Paul issued to them.
A not so smart person won't see anything special there and even be annoyed they don't get actual grenades.
A smart person will consider this as the game giving them a non-lethal way around problems and later into the game, after you find out Paul's motivation, it even makes perfect sense.
You do not need to make these connections to play the game, but it's those connections that make Deus Ex quite an enjoyable experience.

Another example is VTM:B, where there's a lot of speculation about the story. Who was inside the box, who's the taxi driver, is that regent really dead? And who did it? Who sent you the mails?
You don't need to think about any of this to enjoy a decent shooter with very good characters and story, but it does make the experience much better.

That's not a fair critique, though. The community and even the reputation would be low brow, not the game itself.
This idea of a community being part of the game itself and something you have to take into consideration when talking about it does not make any sense except for specific situations\games where you must forcibly interact with it.

Minecraft\Terraria for instance are games that can be played entirely singleplayer or even in a LAN with close friends only. The community only starts being a factor if you consider playing on random servers from other people, but then it would be those servers or that community that's low brow. There's also modding where there's a lot to be said about drama and retardation from some people but unless you consider modding a part of the game itself, it's also detached from it.

Overwatch, CSGO and MOBA's and similar online games are a different kind of game where you must play with the community and that's the default experience. In those cases the community is actually a factor to judge the game, but even then you can only say that "X game atracts boring retards", not that "X game is for boring retards" or that "X game is boring and retard" just because of the usual playerbase. You'd have to judge the game on it's own merit for that (but always acknowledge the type of people you'd have to deal with were you to play it)

The original image was posted back in halfchan and despite being a regular image with normal resolution, the image itself was a few MEGAbytes in size.
This for a time where HD porn images where a single mega at most coupled with shitty internet making the image load very, very slowly really scared people.

Why? Because at the time there was a technique that involved embedding files into pictures and then posting them online. Those savvy enough to handle this could extract whatever was shared (often CP) and common examples of this could be seen in many images regarding crystals and minerals.
However even worse than this was the possibility that there was code written in the image, ready to be run the moment you opened the image (the small pic you see is a thumbnail, not the real image), code that could very well be a virus.

So basically, it was a fuck huge image (for that time) that everyone suspected to carry a virus on it. Wether this is true or not is unknown.

Funnily enough, a few years later an actual virus that spread in a similar fashion was actually posted, the infamous redcube with a javascript code that made you re-post it automatically everyonce in a while.

What with this fucking Redditor logic of "it would have been good if it didn't get popular", they say this about everything, including No Man's Sky, as if there weren't people that knew it was going to be shit from the start.

To be honest, some of the episodes in season 1 and 2 were pretty alright, but season 3 is so fucking garbage. There's bits and pieces of adventure and excitement that are fun to watch, but it's all drowned out by whatever STUPID REPETITIVE SHALLOW social commentary they're trying to peddle. It just consumes the whole episode and kills ALL of the fun. You really, truly, have to be starved for entertainment to enjoy this fucking shite.

Coincidentally season 3 fired all the male writers and replaced them by an all-female writing team.

It's SciFi. There's some basic scientific topics there that you can relate to IRL but most of it is just fiction. Anyone can grasp the concepts discussed in the show without any former education on the concept nor actually being smart at all. There's a lot of jokes that will fly over you, but most of them will still make sense.
Seriously, you need more imagination and pop culture references to understand Ricky and Morty than actually inteligence.

For instance, there's an episode in the first season where they keep diving inside dreams to get a positive math score to Morty.
There's some neat ideas there about time dilation inside a dream that actually do make sense for anyone interested in the concept of a world running inside another world, but you don't need to know any of this to find the show funny.
Rather, knowing the movies they are ripping off (BWOOOM:the movie and Freddy Emo-Blades) helps a lot more to make it more fun to you.

Similarly, there's another episode about a Body Park inside a hobo, built by Rick with the help of some other scientists.
While there's a lot of neat tidbits regarding biology as they explore the body, that's minor comparing to know that it's basically a Jurassic Park inspired episode, and even then there's some sexual innuendo jokes there that anyone above the age of 13 would understand.

I don't think the show is particularly amazing. Lots of stolen concepts and pop culture references to say it's good on it's own, plus Rick is not an endearing or interesting character. The constant burping and drooling really wasn't necessary for the crazy grandpa scientist, Back to the Future does well enough without it.

I've also only seen seriously some of the first season but I did heard the 3rd is full on "punch a nazi" and I can see why it would rustle some feathers.
Again, extremists ruining what could have been just a simple and fun show about crazy sci-fi adventures between a grandpa and his retarded grandson by shoving their politics into it.

I liked it.
I don't think the story was that amazing, just cutesy or spoopy depending on the route but it did it's thing quite well.
The font skeletons were an interesting concept and there's nothing wrong with cliches provided you don't depend solely on them.

Overall I think a lot of people missed many points in the game, that the combat was bad for being easy when that was the idea (that humans can easily kill monsters) or that pacifist is stupid because you should defend yourself when pacifist routes are always about showing everyone else a different way to do things without bloodshed, or how the only intentionally hard fight in the game is there to break your spirit and make you realize that you're not supposed to try that hard, that winning isn't all there is to a game and you get no particular reward for achieving it anyway.

Come to think of it, there were quite a bit of clever things done with the game, just not ones that anyone was looking for or would think for very long.

Out of the many moments I enjoyed on that game, that one was the best.
It took me a while too, I think I attempted that fight 4 times. When I was going for the 5th, Sans said something and it sorta "clicked". The reason he was there, not as a character but as a gameplay element. It was a stroke of genious from Toby there.
The rest of the game has it's ups and downs. I don't think anyone can deny the music is top quality (but that's Toby's speciality) and I was quite sad to see what happened to it's comunity.
It's even sadder when you find out that today there's still people making theory videos and wirting fan-fic that they email Toby expecting Undertale 2.
