Don't rely too heavily on the damage from abilities like Violent Garden. They're powerful when you first get them, but they don't scale as well as regular attacks and eventually drop off. It's best to keep training your combat skills.

If you keep gardening up (which you should) it can stay relevant for a very long time. I'm level 80 and I still use it.
Full-screen-avoids-allies-plus-bind is a combo that's hard to beat.

If it's not on the skill section then it should be on the wide skills section, use capital W to open the wide skills menu

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned here before, is that at some point they changed the way that material scrolls work. Instead of assigning a random material, scrolls now follow a set pattern of material changes:

If you are going gunner, there's not much point on focusing on defense and evasion unless you'll be shooting right next to them, but then again there are some shooting enemies as well so it's fine.
You'll be keeping a distance so you want stuff like the dimensional jump to run away. Speed is ALWAYS good, so up that and maybe get a mount for more speed (I've never used one so don't all me).You could go for resistances to counteract magic enemies, they are a pain for non-mages.

Oh, resistances are more for later, just focus on basic abilities and getting your firearm and related skills up.

Speed is likely the most powerful stat you can get.

Imeant spending value feat points on tiny amounts of dv and evasion.

Get equipment based on their properties (such as chance for additional ranged attack)as dv and pv can be easily increased.

He's not saying there's no point in having DV or evasion as a gunner. He's saying that getting their feats is a waste. That wing you're wearing is worth almost three of that DV feat as is, and you can train 2 levels of evasion extremely quickly.

Contrasting with the ascetic feats, every extra 5% health is significant and will be useful throughout the entire game.

How do I see the enemy's health bar when I'm trying to capture them with monster balls? In particular Putits and Rabbits. It's been nothing but guess work and save scumming for me.

The game should show the health of the last enemy you attacked (AND managed to hit, so if they dodged it may not show up) by default. Anyway, for capturing enemies you should rely on using the KNOCKOUT skill. Its a skill that deals damage like regular attacks but it CANT kill. Enemies hurt by it will survive with 1 hp and be stunned, and if you try to use it on someone who is already at 1 hp it will warn you and not work.

The message that pops up regarding the enemy's condition is an indicator.
I think you want "critically hurt!"

Metal pets get a 90 % physical damage reduction

Armoured gets 75% physical reduction

Ele resist gets 100% immunity from elemental type attacks and spells.

Wear an item that prevents theft to block sea lions. If you don't have one, kill beggars until one drops the pendant.
Cheese keeps the enhancement value of the milk. So if you squeeze some +10 milk out of a ranch monster, it'll become +10 cheese. Enhanced food trains your speed.
Butter is non-rotting food that inflicts the Oil status when thrown. It also seasons the monster (enhances their corpse), although it has a limit of +2 while regular seasonings (salt/sugar/pepper/soy sauce) go up to +4.

You guys have no fucking idea how much time it took to change all these lightsabers to adamantium, but jesus the ether disease rate was driving me insane. I decided to take a little break off dungeon diving solo to level up some of my pets and give them min maxed living weapons + good AI, it's been surprisingly fun. I also found a trick to quickly teach abilities/spells to pets and I can share if anyone's interested.
Next one should be my fire dragon with megid flame(element scar) + a level 10 lightning living hammer, just gotta wait for a lucky day to pop up so that I can actually get decent enchantments.
My save got corrupted yesterday, I managed to bring everything back with snack except the "Metal Armor" skill. Elosnack is unupdated so it looks like I'll be unable to get it for the rest of this save file.

Pro tip: Make high potions of soma
Pot of fusion recipe, but you gotta buy it beforehand at a souvenir vendor(Larna's should always have one). It increases the 8 main stats, speed and luck of the target by 5 + 1/7 of their base value, lasts until the mob dies. Can be made with a potion of healer, crim ale and a rainbow fruit. (All ridiculously easy to get, bar maybe the rainbow fruit. You can get those from Melugas if you can go into South Tyris, two will always respawn in the garden and stealing should be easy.) Remember to throw one of them at your pets too since they also get the boosts.

I think it's also possible to use them in Alchemical Rain, right?

Rainbow fruits aren't too uncommon a result when planting fruit seeds. With the seasonal crop system in E+ 1.72, rainbow fruit will only grow during months 3-5, but you'll get way more.
It's also worth noting that soma restores 200 SP and makes you insane. Way more SP than you'd get from soda, but to make use of them in combat you'd need to use a unicorn horn or the statue of Jure or something.

Lay hand is great, healing rain is great, when evolved it gets absolute protection which sounds great.
At first sight it's a Black Angel but lacking the two things that make it good(Boost and Lulwy's Trick). But it does get the Bind special action after evolving, allowing it to easily kill pretty much all melee-only enemies..

Go for a flame dragon. It has cool evos(3 actually) and at the last level it gets Megid Flame, which inflicts AoE element scar which a caster should love.

Yes, you can return to the god in the future, and also get all the artifacts and stuff which means stardust. There isn't any real penalty besides the reset and 10k percentile debuff.

You can't talk about shit controls until you play Dwarf Fortress or any MUD.

They are not, the tutorial is though, the game doesnt tell you that the whole menu that you open with the z is shit and can be ignored as soon as you learn the bindings or how you can hotkey pretty much anything.

Some artifacts(mostly the gems you get) get turned into potion of curecorruption. You can also get the godpet multiple times.

You set up a separate virtual display and start a local VNC server to that display.
You then connect to that VNC display and start the game on fullscreen, then tell the VNC client to scale the contents to the window. In Linux this is relatively easy, I used this guide.

I don't know how you would start a virtual screen on Windows, but a slightly less autistic solution would be to make a virtual machine dedicated to the game and telling Virtualbox or whatever to scale that.

You want to get used to the numpad, though, because of diagonals. Your numpad should have a notch over the '5' so you can home on it without even looking.

For harvest quests your need at least a pet, the more the merrier, but a single pet like the little girl should do good as long as no monsters are in sight when you begin picking up veggies.
Save turns at the start or after unloading a batch by teleporting, short teleport is easy to learn if you're a mage and rods of teleportation are common in the puppy cave. Take note of where you start in the minimap so you can actually deliver the veggies to the box.
Do not pick anything below 'hand sized' - you can check stuff with '*' without actually having to spend turns walking there.
Do not pick anything while Overweight: your backpack will crush you interrupting the attempt. While heavily burdened you will also act slower which means you'll consume more time picking up and walking. A batch that pushes you to Overweight is usually enough to meet the quota anyway.

Oh and don't bother training Gardening. It levels ridiculously quickly even at 15%ish potential.

Your stats also have potential; that's what the "Superb" "Hopeless" etc. label next your stats are. You need to keep your potentials high or you will never get gainz. I don't know the exact formula that Elona uses, but if you take it literally, you can train up to 4x as fast at the max 400% potential (this is a waste usually because the higher your potential the more you lose), but more importantly as you fall under 100% potential you will train twice as slow at 50%, 10 times slower at 10%, even 100 times slower at 1%.

You really want all the blessed potions of potential you can get for this, they add 100% to the potential of every stat except luck and speed. You need to invest in magic shops in order to buy these, so do this ASAP:
(Investing gets more expensive the higher the shop's rank, but invest 50 will invest enough for 50 levels ''at the current investing price", so it's much cheaper than investing bit by bit, even when taking into account…)
This should cost about 10-20k per vendor, and get the vendor to about rank 60. You can start seeing potions of potential at this point, but for them to be reasonably common you want at least rank 100. This is much more expensive though (over 100k for the second invest 50), so now you need to think about making money.

Once you've begun to stockpile potions of potential to bless, you will see just how ludicrously fast you can train in Elona with high potential. For example, with superb potential in DEX, PER, evasion, and greater evasion, you can go into a dungeon alone and just sit there letting a reasonably strong (or rather, accurate) enemy wail on your while you hold down 5, and in a few minutes you will have gained multiple levels in each and exhausted your potential. Or (as mentioned earlier) with superb potential in charisma and negotiation you can spam invest 50 at cheap vendors and exhaust your potential in seconds
tl;dr grinding anything is piss easy in Elona, the challenge is all the shit you have to do to keep your potential high.

There are other ways to keep stat potential up, worry about these after the potions of potential start coming in:

If anything I want an option for personal gods. I would probably create a god that is constantly drunk and you offer smoking items and alcohol to build favor and faith.
The god is it randomly stumbles into 1/1000 maps the PC is in' completed wasted and assists the player.
The first gift is a pet of some sort, second gift is a feat item that makes you immune to bleeding, poison, fear, chills and pregnancy.
The third weapon is a beer bottle like throwing weapon that induces fear and bleeding on the person hit with it.

They are for learning new skills, not training them, and you can only get 9 through your salary.

Unseen hand is because they were wearing cursed equipment, I think.
I don't know how werewolves work. I've accused NPCs that had "_ the werewolf" in their name, and accused NPCs that the werewolf detective said were "definitely a werewolf", and never got them to transform. Even killed them and nothing happened but the karma penalty.

I thought Elona had more of a multiplayer aspect, but it seems singleplayer only.

Man the Skill Ticket system is a real lifesaver. I'd rather spend the plat on training skill potential. Also holy fuck the pot of fusion can be ridiculously OP with some creative uses. Throwing crim ale at melee enemies as ranged/wizard is a valid strategy, not as effective as confusion/blindness but much more readily available.

Werewolves are weird. It seems like they repurposed the town board that was for voting for nicknames into a werewolf voting board. You vote for whichever citizen is the werewolf and if they're at the top of the list and you're in town at a specific hour of the day, you'll see them get killed. I've only been able to get that to work once, though.

You can't train any skills using the punching bag, you don't get any exp.

Pirates are everywhere, teleport rods only seem to move you 10 feet (is there a way to quickly return to town?), some fights are downright insane.
I go form full HP to dead in 1 turn against a seemingly normal enemy, can't even react, and I'm in the begginner dungeon and am level 8.

Sometimes I drop dead during travel despite having travelers rations. For some reason my char stopped eating them automatically.

Like in all roguelikes, some enemies are just incredibly more dangerous than others. It's weird that you're getting one shot, but shit like kobolds are a huge threat early on.

Maybe you got the wrong food. Btw, try to eat cargos/bakery foods only when you really need to, they don't train stats at all so other foods are superior.
Low level hunting jobs, escort quests and gathering quests are all pretty viable. Add "before it's too late" to the list if you got SLB.
Heavy armor doesn't train STR. For quickest gains two hand a longssword, axe or scythe while burdened(not burden!, burden).

Teleport rods are your go-to method for escaping pirates, but they'll only get you out of the immediate danger zone; you still need to slog it on foot to the map border to flee. Make sure the rod isn't cursed, and be prepared to double or even triple-cast to get as close as possible to the map border. Bringing a pet or two to soak aggro will also help and can mean the difference between survival or death.

For returning to towns, Return and Escape spells let you Return to certain major areas (your home, for instance) or Escape to the overworld map respectively, however they have a warm up period so they're not very useful for when you need to immediately flee.

You mean a caro of traveler's food? In Elona+ they're only consumed when at "Starving!", only only when on the overworld so it may be that you're entering a town just as you lapse into starvation. Regardless, traveler's food is terrible and one of the first habits a new player needs to break is relying on them for food - the gains you get from properly prepared food is so insanely vital that the longer you try to survive on traveler's food, the harder things will get.

Until your identify an item it'll sell for fuck all. Identifying weapons and armor is rarely worthwhile since you have to do it each and every time you find a new one, but generic items like "blood of X", "skin of Y" or "mana crystal" can be identified once and then, from that point onwards, ALL "blood of x" or "mana crystals" you find will sell at their identified pricepoint.

All the jobs have a difficulty rating listed next to them, so be careful not to pick a massively high-grade job. "before it's too late" jobs can be a good source of quick cash (It shouldn't take more than 4 days to get to or from Vernis to either Palmia, Yowyn or Derphy), just try to avoid trips to Noyel until you've got gear with some decent Travel Quickly bonuses - the snow around that town means you'll be walking for days to actually get there.

Do you have portable mini-fridge?There is a few trees in yowyin and palmia that you can bash for food, you can also find some of those on harvest quests, Learn the gardening skill from the trainers, after you have leveled up gardening a little bit the harvester quests become really easy.

Was skimming the wiki yesterday, apparently you can cut down trees while having a bardish in your inventory (heavy axe). This produces wood material for a pot of fusion recipe, which creates furniture.
I didnt invest in carpentry this run but I do have jeweler leveled and the sister recipe with stone materials (from plain old digging) is very profitable, specially if you have a shopkeeper at home.

You will notice that as you identify stuff, the cost of "Identify all my items" at the wizard goes steadily down. This is because at first it charges you for identifying everything about an item, however your character learns the basic type of item at that moment (bone, book, skin, tight rope, potion, etc), even without Sense Quality. After that, the wizard only checks for things like beatitude, charges, etc, which is much cheaper.
The exception being equipments which are never worth carrying their weight around because they sell for shit (unless at your own shop, if you owned a shop you wouldn't be reading this). It only makes sense to hold onto them if they are Great or better, or of a material that beats whatever you have. Sense Quality is important for seeing this information quickly.

Ok so I have a question/dilemma
I started a rabbit farm for income which turned out very well, every time I return i have almost a screenful of milk and eggs.
So now I wanted to breed asuras for hand slots for my upcoming pets. Since the rabbits are so productive, I simply replaced the rabbit breeder for a mitra one. It's been a while without a new mitra. The remaining rabbits are still fucking about the farm and shitting eggs and milk. Is the farm now wired only to breed rabbits? Do I have to murder all the rabbits? Do I just set up a second ranch and hope they break even?

Last time I checked, identifying was absurdly cheap, specially bulk identify, to the point of bulk identifying 5 items was cheaper than identifying a single one. Don't know if that was intentional.
Other than that, pretty solid. The skill potential system was being reworked and a was tweaked a lot for a few weeks but it's already stable.

That was intentional and it's been like that for a while. Investigating items is for rare artifacts that you can't identify using scrolls or cheap methods, the equivalent of "Greater Identify".

Asuras are of the Asura race, not any of the human races.
That was nerfed a couple versions ago. Identify cost increases based on your Fame now, up to 100,000 Fame.

Jiu jitsu is good for swapping up if you are whiffing or tickling an enemy because of a DV/PV difference. Remember to toggle them and get a feel for what works best on what enemy type.

Use claws until you hit roughly 150-ish martial arts skill. Then you can ditch them. I Dunno if they changed it but having the claws adds accuracy damage and stats- But it also culls down your multi strike chance with martial arts. And at that point of skill your damage dice is starting to get crazy anyway.

If I'm using a twohander can I wear a claw without a penalty? I never quite got what they are.

Claws are weird- They are classified as shields but they don't give shield bonuses I think nor do they enable shield bash.

Wielding them trains the shield skill like holding a tonfa would- They are mostly just straight up for the flat accuracy and damage added. I have no clue if this even applies to other types of attack other than martial arts.

Also I think in that situation it might behave either like a shield or turn off two hand. I havn't tested.

Claws will add bonuses to other weapons, even ranged weapons. Claws can also be worn in the ranged slot, applying their bonus while twohanding or unarmed. To use twohanding all of your other hands (if any) must be completely empty. To achieve the maximum number of attacks with unarmed all your hands (if any) must be empty

Tailoring is actually very simple to get up, I had this problem before. If you want, you can just mod it in with elosnack, but all you really have to do is grind low level dungeons during nefia fever and gather all those materials.

I would mod it but it will suck the achievement out, maybe when I do it on a few characters and just wanna ease the grind. I feel like you should do something vanilla first before cheating.

What should I look for in equipment? I have good armor and a shield but I noticed that I have kinda ignored everything else.

Depends on your build but trying to cover up for elemental and magic resistances are the important ones.

Early on, I usually go for light armor made of glass, since it boosts speed. Once you're stronger, you might set your sights on specific artifacts. (For example, the Lucky Dagger makes a great offhand or throwing weapon, and the Gloves of Vesda are very good gloves.)

Setup your own shop and let your pet selll the food for you, not only the food will not rot but you will also get more money if your pet has a high level on negotiation, A pet with high charisma is also reccomended as charisma boost the amount of clientes you will get per day.

you need quite a bunch of money, wiki says you need 20 times the cost of Investing once, but the last time I checked trying to Invest 50 on my home wizard from rank 75 costed 26~ the Invest 1 amount.
I can only recommend hoarding invest+ items at home, they make a huge difference. Casting or quaffing gem before investing also helps a bit

Nigga just use the magic lesson vendors in town to up your buffing magic, and speed yourself while casting slow. when your slow is up to 20t or 30t you'll be ready to fuck him up no problem.

What level should I be to fight him?

I just finished fighting Zeome, he was a total joke. I was pretty over leveled though, I'd been dicking around and not paying attention to the main quest. Got him down to half health in a couple of turns and then one of my pets invoked time stop and smashed him.

I think most people do it around level 30 or so.
