Part of the issue I think is that if you make a resell store you're likely to be a scalperkike. I do know one store around where I live that actually seems to make the most money off their console arcade set up in the back room, despite ostensibly being a store to sell games at.Think it's like $5 per hour per person, rent any game in the store, and then they sell drinks and snacks too. They seem to do alright like that, especially on the weekends when they're open late. Been there to peruse stuff to buy on those nights before and it's really loud from the back.

Phat and Lite models have GBA backwards compatibility for instance (and the lite has a pretty long battery life used in that mode as well, between an innately longer battery than the Phat, and only using one screen when running GBA). The Lite's hinge and shoulder buttons are fragile though; not exactly Nintendium when they were being made.

I've heard a LOT of good stuff about Strange Journey, even if it is post-Persona. Apparently it's kind of an "SMT 3.5" of sorts, and felt like a fourth main game before SMT IV actually debuted. In fact, I see a lot of complaints about Atlus' upcoming remake of it in comparison. If anything, I think that one might be the one that gets hit with the plague.

Shame there aren't more monster collection games out there. Fucking pokemon taking over the market.

I was in one of those threads and while I love the idea of running a game store, the reason I say go with the barcade thing is because I've seen 3 independent games shops (2 exclusively game stores and one mixed comics, games, cards) and a Gamestop shut down in my area in the past 2 years. The closest one to me actually had the monitors and games in the back and for 10 bucks you could hold a party or tournament and play games with people. There is only one independent game store left in my area and it barely gets any business. I usually stop by there on my way to/for work while I wait for the train/bus and it's pretty sad that I never see anyone in there - maybe a family once in a while. I really wish something would work out for you man, but I just don't see it as a viable thing now when digital downloading/amazon/ebay is so much more common than actually physical in store purchases.

Atlus has opted to remake Strange Journey. Also Radiant Historia. Both were considered quite good on the DS. Remakes seem kind of unecessary in my opinion, and I've heard there's some noticable change in design philosophy, adding new unneeded characters (which are likely to just draw comparison to being Maries), etc.

I don't hate open world. I love exploring in games and I love wasting time so open world is great for me

It was really strange timing, I had played Demon's Souls since it came out on the Playstation Best's thing so it was only 20 bucks at the time, and Dark Souls 2, played Bloodborne and even tried Dark Souls 3 on my dad's PS4 when I was visiting him in Florida but I never played the first DS so I bought it a few days before that all happened and never had the chance to play it, well I guess the time presented itself. I think I would have enjoyed it more if i played them in release order because after playing Demon's Souls and 2 it just feels like half of both games and it's kind of easy. That being said still a lot of fun

The world is comfy and I like a lot of the unique equipment. Plus I play a battle mage in any game that allows me and that one has like 5 or 6 different weapon and shield catalysts which was neat as fuck.

Wish I could find artbook scans for this game. The main characters would make for good reaction images due to the portraiting, and not having the backgrounds would make them feel cleaned up for posting.

I don't mean your stock "Shitsu's Reaction Image (Whatever the fuck)", but more general non-reactino images. Same filenames, so either it's you, or someone that's saved your images with the generic number string you saved them as before.

alright well there are a lot of retards here but cuckchan is seriously the worst. i post on /vr/ a lot and while there are some really good threads here and there the type of people that post about any popular shit (N64, JRPGs, etc.) are seriously the fucking worst. A friend of mine insists that halfchan has fought back and won against the cancer, and that I at least ought to cross-site since both sites are on the same level of quality. While I do miss a few aspects of halfchan, I really don't see enough reason to deal with the bullshit there, even if it means little opportunity to talk about the games I enjoy here due to general lack of interest from people (the community here being heavily PC focused, for better or worse, doesn't help matters).
And as for /vr/, a while back I had to check the board archives for some images I was helping an user here look for. Came across a thread from maybe a year back on a series I liked. Opened it out of curiosity, and halfway through it degenerated into serious discussion on whether or not the series had positive representation of fags or not (using a character that the devs confirmed as not even gay). And again, that was /vr/, of all the boards.

Shame /vr/ here's pretty much dead.

i think a lot of it is young 20 year old kids trying to act like oldfag on /vr/ it's really sad you can tell they never played the game before and that they are completely intolerant of any idea outside of something they heard someone else say assuming that if they repeat that ad infinitum that people will stroke their virtual ego dick and agree with them but at the same time accuse you of doing the same thing if you even as much name a game outside the main popular consensus because you are just being a faggot contrarian for the sake of it, no way you could actually like another game…

on the other hand i had a really great discussion about thief for a few weeks, and the same about horror games in october until some fucking concern shill came in and stared getting made at me, even reported me, for mentioning two games that weren't "retro" games in the thread when I named and recommended ~35 horror games and contributed most to the discussion. I was playing Xenoblade earlier but I got to the big valley after colony 9 and it's starting to feel kind of samey. I can also play some Tales of something or another or some Rune factory game but they both have this shitty anime style that's too off putting for me to ignore for the exploration/combat those games offer. I kinda want to do 7 days 2 die but I have two separate servers I always play on but no one is online right now.

I used to go to /vr/ mainly for ideas on older games to try in the future. I wouldn't exactly call myself young, or old, but at the same time it was useful because I didn't get to play a lot of games in general when I was young. Still, I didn't try to act like I knew shit about games I'd never played, mainly just asked questions and such. It just saddened me to see discussion on an otherwise enjoyable series like the one I saw degenerate that readily.

Even years back, half/vr/ was rather autistic about what constituted /vr/ material or not. Ports and remake discussion used to be acceptable, at least in comparison to their /vr/-era originator (negative comparison usually), and then there was the whole debate on whether the short lived Dreamcast should be allowed or not, and last I'd heard it depending entirely on the hotpocket on duty if they obeyed reports and killed threads on that system or not. Still, a few decided non-/vr/ games had their welcome there by virtue of not being that far past, being very good games in their own right, and to allow a bit more discussion of larger series than just the one or two games that officially counted. Wild Arms 3 and Shadow Hearts 1, for instance. But that's just my own memories of it.

Yeah I am the same way I go on there to find out games that I haven't played it missed when I was younger as I am lately uninterested in newer games and am generally bored or disappointed by them and it works I've played a bunch of really awesome games this past year alone just by recommendations there. That being said the console war shit for N64 is what made me really fucking hate Nintendo fan boys with a furious passion. That being said I've gotten banned because I told Pokemon fans that if you're over 30 and still are obsessed with Pokemon you should contemplate suicide as that was apparently not my real feeling but a Holla Forums tier shit post. what perfect timing, speaking about "contrarian" opinions i was in a castlevania thread and said "hey i actually like simons quest" and got 10 replies saying "heres your (you)" or "nice post contrarian faggot" and shit along those lines. i understand there are a lot of negative things about that game but i still like it and i do play it every year/other year and that doesn't mean i dont like other castlevania games. same goes for all the other metrovania hate. its almost as if no one even plays games any more and they just parrot the opinions of youtube video game e celebs.

Might have been a tad harsh, but yeah, there's a clear line between liking a game aimed at kids, and being absolutely obsessed with it. I'd say to change IPs and janny post in response like /jp/ and /sp/ have when their janitors acted up in the past, but something tells me you wouldn't do well without backup.

It's a shame that /vr/ here hasn't proven more of a popular board, especially given it's legacy name status, but perhaps there just hasn't been enough posters here to really warrant it, and half/vr/ seems to have been content without migrating. Though, I'm not sure I'd want the current crop coming here, and even if they did, they'd be liable to make their own board, a "/truevr/" or something because they'd take offense over the year cap here being 2003 with full Dreamcast and GBA allowance.

I'll say that I've noticed a definite change in the sort of userbase over the years, if not in actual people here, then in personality at least. Wouldn't say they're robots, or "npcs" as some people have speculated is the case with normalfags mental programming, but still.

You'll still see the occasional autist here with a, well, maybe obsession is too harsh, but a VERY clear liking for certain games. Whether they're obnoxious about it or not depends on the poster. I know a number of people have been getting sick of Panzerfag, mainly because he constantly posts about it in a way that oversells his game. But I've yet to really see a game cause posters here to sperg like Sanic or Pokemon has to people in the past. Maybe Splatoon comes close, but I've not really bothered with those threads as I haven't gotten any Nintendo system past the DS and Wii.

And yeah, just go dig around on /jp/'s archive and you can find janny posting images that got saved. I unfortunately can't find the full version of that one I posted up there though. Initially saw it somewhere on /a/'s frontpage here, but the meido was too quick to delete the thread and ban the poster for me to save the actual image. Reverse searching sadly doesn't help either.

Oh man the sanic threads, I dropped one post about the new sonic game before it came out saying: i predict that you all the hype for this game will vanish the instant it comes out and no one will play it ; and after all the kys's and fuck you faggots and what do you know it comes out with DRM on it and everyone starts shitting on it right away. The only thing that comes close to that is the Nintendofags. And me either the last Nintendo thing I bought was the DS XL because I need a screen that I can actually see so I don't really care for any of that shit much. I was gonna buy a used Wii for classic games but now they are shutting down the store so what's the point, guess I'll just stick to PC based emulation.

A Wii is still easy to mod and set up with loading programs for the Gamecube and Wii to run pirated games off USB storage. And while you're right that the store's going down, people have long since ripped the wads that it offered for sale there. You can just load them onto the SD card, use Multi Mod Manager to install them to the system, and play as you would. At this point it barely matters that the store's going down; I hope you weren't thinking of giving NOA money at the rate they've been going anyhow.
