The Vita game is still pretty much the same battle system as the browser version.

The Vita game has the same gameplay but adds the need to move fleets around- you can't repair unless near a repair dock, resource gathering in some areas requires you to occupy that area (and transport ships in each area need escorts), leaving an area unpatrolled puts it at risk of being recaptured, and so on. It's a nice addition to the game that forces you to think a little, but the fundamental flow of battle is the same.

Abyssals are what got me interested in the damn thing. Shame the IP belongs to colossal scumbags, the likes that make Konami look like amateurs.
The designs could make a interesting shooter, FG like the 2hu one or a hack n' slash.

A lot are extremely forgettable, really just schoolgirls with cannons on their arms (some like Yukikaze and Hatsuyuki are memorable thanks to fan works playing on personality traits). There's a lot of good ones that manage to stand out though. Musashi, Nagato, Iowa, Tenryuu, Atago, Takao, Warspite, Commandant Teste, Shoukaku, Kashima, Murakumo etc.

Among the Shipgirls I do like is Houshou and that is for one of the same reasons I love Seaport.

Personally I felt it was a better way of scratching the Kancolle itch without all the bullshit of waiting in realtime for resources to build up/ships to repair/etc. If you don't mind the original gameplay then it's probably better, except for the missing newer ships like the Iowa. Of course there are no special events (the older special event maps are mixed into the normal gameplay) so take that into account.

Of course I only remember the Iowa appeared first in the Vita version before the PC version. Ships newer than the Iowa aren't in the Vita version.

How does it play and is it translated?

Stages are very short, big guns tend to finish charging after the stage is over, and weapons fire automatically. Last part is fine if you use the rapid fire spray guns, but it fucking sucks if you use one of the slow cannons and it is constantly being wasted. Some of the girls don't even voices, while others have multiple costumes. Supposedly chinks have much nicer drop chances.

There are a bunch of android emulators. I don't really know which is the best since I don't use them but a lot of people use Nox or Memu. I think the best way to play it is on a phone obviously.

I've yet to see any proof of this. I heard that you're supposedly more likely to get SR and SSR drops on JP servers but R drops are rarer. All I know is I just finished farming for the two SSR drops in 4-3 and it only took maybe 20-40 tries for both.

Personally, I'm biased for predominantly b&w palettes and overall, I think the abyssal designs do a good work walking the line between bestial and sensual. Plus, artists seem to be able to depict them in all sorts of manners: fapbait, badass, cute, funny, scary etc. The official artist for them is also really good.

The problem isn't cute girls. It's just shoving them into everything. Especially when it hurts the setting. Something like 2001 Nights, Texnolyze, and Lone Wolf and Cub wouldn't be as impactful if everyone was a cute girl. Sometimes it adds to the setting like Magical Girl Raising Project and Higurashi because people don't expect cute girls their age to do such horrible things. But there are times when it can just come off as lazy. They even mention this in Saekano where they said someone can be a terrible writer but still sell copies by having good art of the cute girls is good. Essentially, my problem is they can harm the atmosphere of a good setting or narrative by trying to appeal to the otaku audience and fill it with cute girls to sell figures.

Honestly, if we've been given the idea of KanColle RPG games, you could do something fun (and/or dramatic) with the Abyssals' appearances and extant personality. For instance, you could play on the perception of Seaport as a big sister figure (and reluctance to fight) as not being a natural killer, and wanting to leave service for the party with that hammered home. Or perhaps giving the otherwise lovely Midway terrible flash burns as the reason for her mask.

They're probably saving the abyssals for later in all likelihood

There could be Abyssal Fleets that are completely dedicated to continuing the war, while others want to finally have a happy life where they can live among everyone and worry more about what clothing goes with what shoes or how they are going to make it to work at the perfect time to get good parking.

Or, if they're too damaged for even that, putting them out of their misery on land.

People only like this franchise due to character design, they will say multiple excuse to pretend otherwise but the game is shit and no one would bother playing it if the characters weren't 1000 different flavors of waifubait with at least 1 character that will caught the interest of the average Japanese/weeb player. At least for me some of the characters don't look bad but the huge majority is garbage.

I kinda like the simple gameplay. Its nice to have a thing you can sit back a bit from time to time. Its a nice change of pace from the shooters and STGs I usually play. I feel it is good to have something that has a little less interaction to balance out the stuff that requires immediate reactions otherwise you'll burn out.
I'm not saying you should ONLY play KanColle or games like it, but it is nice to have variety.

But user, what if you gave up the option to fug to instead just become Seaport.
