Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines

So a few weeks ago we had a thread about this and some glorious faggot posted this link to the Mega that includes the main game .iso a fuckton of patches and extra content:

mega.nz/#!o8tzXSIa!HD8l5kFaddxPyPeCl_Sfesq6ZVVVrhd1ZWjUhyK37Uw

Which is great, however unlike most of these bundled packs we share with each other that usually include a README.txt file explaining what order to install all the various goodies in, this one doesn't.

So, does anyone else have the same version I downloaded from the old thread and can they help me out?

Also,

VTMB General Thread, I guess…

Other urls found in this thread:

virustotal.com/
twitter.com/AnonBabble

DOCS folder only includes Minimum System Requirements and License.

The "AUTOPATCH" folder contains an archive with a ton of stuff, but then again so do all the other Root folders- Surely someone else has/is downloading this that knows what's going on?

It's not rocket science, OP.

There's approximately 4 other packages with patches and stuff, however it may include a few of them in the initial Autorun Installer- the installer has a custom Text thing typed at the initial screen when you open it.

You're supposed to install the mods that You want to use, not packages of trash some other people compiled.

HOL UP- We wuz Kangs

It DOES include all those packs in the initial installer- It turns out that the team who created this pack linked several installers to execute after the initial "altered" installer finishes.

So I guess that solves that mystery- so there you go, Fags… download it and install it too. That works out awesomely.

HOWEVER-

One major caveat I just discovered is that it has to be installed on D: or above- the secondary installers don't recognize the default C: directory.

WAIT!

Another thing, If you're installing it on Wangblows 10 it automatically changes the directory from "Program Files" to "Program Files (x86)" which fucks up the secondary installers, so I guess you have to run the installer again AFTER renaming the folder "Program Files" without the (x86) to make the secondary ones install properly.

There's a Trojan in the file.

user what the fuck are you doing

Why not just pirate the GOG version?

...

Meant for

obviously. How the fuck did I even make that typo?

Bump

Why isn't there more games in which you can play as a gothic lesbian vampire?

Is this game any good?

Just download the GOG version you dumbass.

ye

False positive

;_;
At this point I’d settle for games where you can play as just a lesbian vampire.

Bloodlines clan rankings:
I – Ventrue: perfect combination of social & combat that allows you to get the most out of the game in a single playthru
II – Tremere: A fun and unique playthru with an exclusive haven (which comes a bit late in the game), special content exclusive for the clan, and fun disciplines that make for a great playthru.
III – Toreador: too much focus on the social options – fun if you are into that, but comes up short when it comes to the combat.
IV – Malkavian: Been done to death, and too meme-y. Not suited for your first playthru. Decent disciplines though.
V – Gangrel/Brujah: Too much focus on the combat side of the game that leaves out much of the fun dialogue options. Fun if you are in it just for the combat, but otherwise not worth it if you want to fully experience the game in one playthru.
VI – Nosferatu: Have fun missing out on a lot of the content as you crawl thru the sewers. Shit-tier haven as well.
Any objections?

I finally figured out the plot.
Not going to spoiler text a 13 year old game.

The Sarcophagus was first buried in Assyrian ruins somewhere between 1050 and 800 B.C. and was said to contain a 250 year-old king named Messerach who drank the blood of his enemies. While Messerach himself might have only been a mortal human being, according to the archeologists in the game it is highly unlikely that such a valuable tomb was left undisturbed in pristine condition for so many years.

According to the information you can find in Bach's lair, the tomb was found by Julius the Gaul during the middle ages (1068 A.D.). The writings of Julius Gaul describe the artifact as being "a nefarious and dread thing, full of some ancient and undeniable evil" and ttributes the death of his scribe to the artifact, who, upon setting his eyes on it for the first time, began convulsing uncontrollably and died. It has been told numerous times the eldest vampires go to rest their bodies for ages in tombs while retaining influence and mystical power over others without needing to directly touch them. So it is highly likely that there was a vampire inside the Sarcophagus when Julius found it, and that it did not want to be found. Also, the church records do not mention any key mechanism for the door. It was not ready to be found.

In 2004 dr. Ingvar Johansen is anonymously contacted and given a package, with no reply adress, that contained the information to find the sarcophagus AND THE KEY. This is highly suspicious. We know that the eldest vampires command minions to do their bidding, as they sleep in great tombs. It is evident that the norwegian archeologist was used as a pawn to undig the sarcophagus. What is particularly interesting is that someone had the key after all this time and did not try to open it before, clearly under instructions not to do so before it wanted to be found and opened.
Ingvar put the Sarcophagus in a ship, the Elizabeth Dane, and sent it to the Los Angeles Museum for investigation. However, he did not board the ship himself, and warned the crew to be careful. This is also highly suspicious.

Then we have the Elizabeth Dane's captain's log. He states that the crew seemed uneasy but reports no incidents until people start dissapearing on October the 15th. Then in October the 17th he claims there is a saboteur onboard that has disabled communications and that more crew members have disappeared. He then indicates that somebody has been interfering with the sarcophagus' container. Finally, in his final entry he claims the ship is damned. Fishermen find the Elizabeth Dane off thet coast of L.A. filled with blood and signs of "incredible violence" yet there are no bodies to be found, and there is no sign of a saboteur.

Then, the police investigate the ship and find that the crate containing the key has disappeared and that the Sarcophagus shows signs of having been disturbed. When the player character is sent to investigate he realizes (and later explains to others) that the Sarcophagus had been opened FROM THE INSIDE. Indeed there are bloody claws that seem to come out from the sarcophagus and then also some claws that seemingly close it. Also the wooden crate that contained it is broken and also the metal container is torn in half; this is a show of incredible strength, not uncommon of a millenia-old vampire who could've also taken out the entire crew in brutal form.

Also, Jack planted explosives inside the Sarcophagus at some point. But because the only possible moment that the key and sarcophagus were together was during the shipment, it is very likely Jack had a part in the incident at the Elizabeth Dane. After all, he tells us he used to be a pirate (very important plot element). It is likely he collaborated with the saboteur and whoever was inside the sarcophagus.

Then the sarcophagus finds itself into Lacroix's hands and the key suspiciously into Ming Xiao's hands. Could it be that, having removed both Messerach's corpse and whoever vampire was inside, the responsable party made sure each side had one half of what was needed to open up the trap? This is suggested by the anonymous emails the PC recieves through the game, where Lacroix is referenced as the white king in a game of chess and Ming as the black king; and in the end, the second-to-last email suggests the "real master" is the one who had the game set from the start. Then again, the cab driver and Jack both suggest that amongst the chaos that could arise from both Lacroix's and Ming's death, the PC could escape L.A. as a legend. So the forces behind the discovery and movement of the Sarcophagus laid a trap to destroy both sides in this conflict. The only thing that could've ruined their plans was the PC to hand over the sarcophagus to the Kuei Jin, which is the ONLY choice the PC could make in the last taxi fare that the cabbie strongly disagrees - in all others he simply questions the PC, but in this one he shows a clear disapproval.

Well then we have the final scene, where Jack sits with Messerach. Jack explictly says "you don't talk much, do you?" to the clearly dead human dressed in Mesopotamian attire. This is earlier referenced by Beckett (whom the fortune teller tells you can trust fully) when he claimed Messerach was just a human king. But then Jack continues talking, and it is important to understand he is talking now to the cabbie, who is behind him. The cabbie shows a powerful aura. And Jack continues: "hey that went just like you said. they never even knew what hit them. we threw that sarcophagus out there and they tore each other trying to get to it".

Well the last "loose end" is the Sire of the PC. The Sabbat local leader, Andrei, references during the last fight in the Hallowbrook Hotel that he feels the player's potent blood even over all the dead sabbat vampire's blood, and asks if that doesn't make the player wonder. This is a very subtle reference that I personally believe explains a implicit plot point: that the player's sire has to be much older than it seems. Because the Sabbat vampires you face in that map are mass embraced and are very "green" and recently made into vampires, they should be paired with the PC in strength as they should be just as young as him. However, like the autists at PlanetVampire calculated, the player character has stats that show he is 8th generation, so the vampire that sired him is atleast old enough to have lived through the Renaissance. That would inherit powerful vampire powers to the player character, in a city where most vampires arent a century old (Anarch leader Nines Rodriguez is from the Great Depression, Skelter from the Vietnam Era, and the ruling Prince is only from the Napoleonic Era).
My guess is that the player's sire was in on the Sarcophagus plot. That is the subtle reference that Andrei makes. As everyone tells you, you have been a pawn all the time. You are the goodest goy for Caine/Jack/whoever needed to retrieve someone from the sarcophagus using lots of other minions.

...

What manner of fuckboy niggardry is this.

A Malkavian playthrough is not recommended for a first time player, it has been done by just about every YT gaymer, and it the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

A Brujah or Gangrel playthrough doesn't let you experience as much of the game - you can't seduce/persuade anyone - you get to fight - that's it.

Toreadors don't have the best disciplines, and aren't good at melee combat, but the social route - dialogue options that allow you to seduce and persuade people - is more entertaining than playing as a feral knuckle-dragging brute.

vampires can't make the segs, user. They can't be lesbians

That's where you're wrong, kiddo.

>not posting the bestest vampire

All female vampires are hot lesbians or at least bi. It says so in the bible.

Brujah would've been way more fun if Intimidation wasn't completely useless in vanilla. I don't know what the wesp patch's answer was to that, because just because you're a brujah, doesn't mean you can't do social a teensy tiny bit; especially since you're so strong at combat in the first place.
