This combined with the fact that certain clothing don't work on any character unless it's the default person that clothing was made for. Any character with some sort of dress like Mirai, Murasaki, Ryobi, Yomi, and Ryona have their dresses cut short for every other character. This has been a problem since the earliest games and it's something they should have fixed ages ago along with each character having different body types. If they're not flat, the only way to tell who the character is is by looking at their eyes (assuming you changed their hair style or color).

They games used to have a plot. They weren't big stories but there was definitely something there. The first game revolved around 2 schools consisting of good and evil ninja. After getting to know each other after so many battles, it turns out that their teacher was trying to teach them that there is no such thing as good and evil ninjas. One just works for the government and and the other takes private jobs so their jobs can end up more sinister. But as we see through the series, the "evil" ninjas usually get the job done for the greater good while the "good" ninjas are sent on missions to kill other ninjas to cover things up or remove traitors. So the "good" ninjas as sent on many missions that are uncomfortable to them.

Meanwhile, ninjas are mainly trained to kill demons and their are certain organizations who are trying to summon them to harness their power. However this story was finished with the second game and since then the story took an alternate path where there are now 4+ schools that each compete over various things. While the demon threat was part of some character's tragic pasts like Emu and Miyabi, they have slowly phased them out to turn the series more light hearted. Nothing to write home about but it made some things interesting. Especially with the cool demon designs they had for SK2:DC.

I have a feeling the remake of the original game on the PS4 is going to be the start of Takaki's attempt at creating a unified, more cohesive story between the factions. I'm also dying for SK2 on the PS4 to fight massive demons.

The peak of the series, gameplay wise, I think was with SK2 Deep Crimson as it had many ideas that they should have kept and added onto the combat as the series went on. I don't think they take the combat as an afterthought with all the mechanics they throw into the later games like wall running, items to pick up, transformation supers for other characters, team attacks (that are only good as a combo ender), limit breaks, and yin/yang mode.

Deep Crimson had some better ideas going for it. While it still follows the Dynasty Warriors moveset, you could hold down any attack button for altered versions of certain moves which expanded everyone's moveset while keeping them simple. Everyone's moveset didn't flow the same and characters like mirai had different weapons to switch to. Meanwhile characters like Daidouji and Hikage that could change their moveset by transforming. Frenzy or yang mode could be turned on and off if you met certain conditions and was the only way to heal yourself. So the only way to heal was to level up or turn yourself into a glass cannon where enemies could OHKO you.

Then you could equip talisman to give yourself certain effects though this was mad broken. Freeze, charm, and LV2 super damage boost made Yomi a God of War who could OHKO bosses with 1 super. Eitheer way, they had some good ideas and I have no idea why they moved away from this. Actual boss fights and transformed characters being their own character (Crimson Homura for example) was another nice touch.

The reviews for PBS are probably the best so far, from what I've seen. Only problem is mp will die fast on both PS4 and eventually PC.

And are there actual different weapons, or is it just leveling the weapons youre given?

Leveling does not change the amount of water you have or the ammo. It simply increases damage for weapons. For characters it increases HP and melee damage. For cards it's damage, time, durability, or health recovered.

You can upgrade any card but I don't think you can have multiples of the same exact card (as in image). You can make a full deck of multi shield if you want.

The weapons you are given are all you're going to get. Magnum, uzis, water hose, balloon launcher, assault rifle, bazooka, minigun, sniper rifle, and shotgun. I think I named all of them. Upgrading them upgrades their damage and changes the way they look, but not how they function.

Also, as tempting as it is to powerslide everywhere. You should really only do it to get out of combat or go from cover to cover unless you're using a shotgun. The game is heavy with its auto aim so staying near cover is very important to winning.

In regards to card upgrading, i was asking if i could select the upgrade-fodder individually. But it seems like the game just takes your dupes and effectively makes them a currency, persay, for upgrading. Thanks for the info.
