Although the character sheet changes, the game will continue to refer to NPCs as their original gender (he/she), unlike when the PC uses forbidden meat.
The only way to rectify this is to change the gender bit with Elosnack.

The nerf to shop made getting gold early on pretty tedious. Wouldn't be so bad if the chat had a modicum of activity, but it's pretty dead aside from one guy who hasn't figured out the piano in Vernis is a trap.

It's the same as before, except it's enhancement+month instead of just month. If the enchantment you want isn't available, get a blacksmith to enhance it and check again.

What causes the levels of dungeons to increase or decrease? Is it based on fame or level or something?

The highest level dungeon you have cleared dictates the average level of dungeons when they're spawned, you'll still get outlier dungeons with really low or high levels though.

You can check it out (the highest lv dungeon you've cleaered) in your (j)ournal quite a few pages in.

It's based mainly off the deepest dungeon level cleared, which can be reset in Oblivion Palace.

Can someone explain how exactly the multihit for martial arts works? I read in previous threads that wearing claws early on is good for hit chance, but it'll only allow to proc 4 multihits or something like that, while wearing nothing at all you can hit up to 8 times.

How do you proc multihits in the first place though?
Does it happen as you level up the skill?
Do I need to wear equipment with chance of extra melee attack bonuses or what?
Does it make a difference if it's pets using MA?

I ended up giving my pet the Twin Edge with #####+ extra melee attacks. Extra attacks very rarely proc though so I thought maybe it's related to MA skill after all. Thanks for confirming, the wiki hasn't been helpful all in this regard.

Not within Elona itself AFAIK. Increasing the resolution doesn't change the scale, it just lets you see more of the world.

There might be some program you can download to scale individual windows, but the easiest solution is probably to put the game in fullscreen mode. or move the monitor closer

It feels like having my little girl cast cheer all the time makes them more or less useless in combat, since they just stand around casting it all the time, but then teaching them shadowstep is suffering since they waste a turn doing nothing. I hope at some point I'll be able to get them to rapidly buff the entire party and then go right in with shadowstep and the Rankis, but I'm not sure it's possible

Extra attacks are really, really complicated for some reason. You can find the basics here:

There's a limit of 3 extra attacks per weapon ("You attack… Furthermore, you attack… Furthermore, you attack… Furthermore, you attack…"), but the "unarmed weapon" has a special case that lets it get up to 7 extra attacks. But if you equip a claw or shield, that's a "shield attack" rather than an "unarmed attack", so you're back down to 4 attacks instead of 8.

That leads me to another question though; does having more hands as a martial artist affect the skill at all? If not wouldn't it be more beneficial to remove all hands and add different body parts? based on what the wiki says about MA, the damage is not affected due to the dice directly relating to the skill level itself but it doesn't mention anything else

I think the only things that can cause extra attacks are the "chance of extra melee attack" enchantments and some of the class feats. However, for dual wield, every hand has a chance for those extra attacks. Dual wield also gets a penalty to earning extra attacks on each successive hand, though.

Past friend is the easiest.
That's the point where they begin to accept bouquets and friendship tokens, the latter of which I have more than I can spend. You make both of them with the Pot for Fusion.

Skill mostly, some things modify it like dual weild, riding, etc

Raise charisma or drop them off at dojo or just delete them/use for gene engineering.

Weapon skill, two handed or dual wield skill, weapon enchant, weapon being blessed or cursed, dexterity, other equipment providing hit rate bonus (like gloves and claws).
Besides that crits always hit unless countered by greater evasion.

Not really, but lots of godpets get outclassed by other pets, and you need high faith to be able to have lots of them at once. No downside to carrying around as many pets as your CHA allows you, though.

There's an option for it in Custom's tweaks menu.

Too bad almost every NPC interaction isn't translated.
Stuff like specific NPC dialogue just falls back to default shit.
You can always create custom dialogues too, there's files for that.

I never liked the fact how elona's translation works. There's hundreds of thousands of flavor text for everything in the game, but no one will ever bother translating those, instead it falls back to "untranslated sentence" or "this item has no description", not to mention the npc fluff dialogue. I'd love to have all japanese text machine translated, even if it meant ditching the actual translations(that aren't that good in the first place). Shit wouldn't be precise but wouldn't be inexistent.

The people running Custom have said they don't want machine translations because they're low quality and because afterward they'd have trouble telling what was and wasn't machine translated.
I've been considering suggesting machine translating all the untranslated stuff but putting "[MT]" at the start of each line. It'd be better than "Sorry, this is untranslated sentence", anyway.

random number(0 to 99) + (number of hands + 10) x number of extra attacks have already occurred < calculated attribute strength x 2 + 1
Calculated attribute strength = sum of extra melee/ranged attack equipment attribute strength across all equipment pieces / 15.
The chance is extremely small anyways

Requesting a female fire dragon child tone file. They make great tanky martial arts pets early on and their evolutions help them keep relevant later in the game.

I read about 1/3 of the way through and there's a few small things to mention. Also I'm not 100% sure which lines are left as is and which ones were changed.

Some of the lines are about bows and arrows specifically, which makes sense given the character but what if you end up equipping her with guns or crossbows?
There seem to be a few lines that are out of place personality wise. For example some things she says are more playful or a little edgy Which I think fits right in with how I imagine her to behave but others are a bit too lovey dovey.
For some reason the last one really stood out me because it seemed so out of place. Couldn't tell you why though.
Lines like this are great though.
The only other thing I can think of is the vocabulary of the character. For example:
Again, seems slightly out of place for the Black Angel. The line is fine up until the final word but obviously that comes down to opinion.

Overall it's pretty good and I'll end up using this with a few tweaks. I'm not a writefag myself, but I have a close friend who asks me to criticize his work all the time, so I tend to be nit picky. I did change some of the insult dialogue, just not all of it. I didn't want to lose the original feel, which is also why I kept all of the idle chatter from the original. Thanks for the nitpicking, I'll keep all of that in mind. Yeah, I felt a lot of it was out of place but there were other ideas that affected those things as well, considering it's as much of an impact to add as it is to take away. The proposition in my brain was essentially that they hid a lot of what they thought behind this puffed-up version of themselves that they hold in high regard, but then it crumbles occasionally. I'll probably dick around with it later, but it's an initial draft that I wanted to be critiqued. Feel free to grab it and re-up with your own modifications, if you'd like. It's an user's work, after all.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but there's always room for improvement. If your text starts to get clogged up, remove some lines from the Idle Chatter section at the top of the file. That's usually what spams most of the chatter since it happens when you're not doing much. I might add more stuff later, but I think I did a good job and it's pretty filled out. You'll probably like the humor, too. Props to for the great idea for character development. If it's not in your style or if you've got any comments, feel free to shoot them to me, I'll start working on the defender I think, touch up the BA like I've been doing, and then see if I can figure out anything for that one fire dragon thing.

Warrior, Predator and Claymore all seem good to me. You could go for archer and change later down the line when your acc gets high enough too

Kind of makes it sound like it's its own thing that uses the 5% regardless of what your gear does instead of adding the 5% to the gear's stats. I'm probably over thinking this.

Use pot of fusion (hard/soft/sharp) equip make recipes to make 3 artifacts at a time and sell those might work.

For a pure caster, change your class to Warmage, it gets a flat +5% casting chance so it can cast at 97% in medium armor. The Wizard class feat is fairly useless, too.

That's exactly what I'm using right now. I am a bit curious about the wizard feat though. It's probably much more useful later on, but at the same time I'll have so much mana & recovery it won't even matter. Priest might be a good choice too since healing rain is cast fairly frequently for my pets.

Nah, Wizard feat is completely useless, just -10% mana costs. You'll completely destroy THAT by the time you're done with Act 1. Priest, on the other hand, is +25% healing power. It's OK, but can be replicated with one of the shift cores.

I have mixed feelings about shift cores. They don't seem worth the wish at the moment since I've only ever come across a single one. Maybe I'll get some later.

It's up to you, really. Using rod charges on gods is worth it, if you have the faith for the god gem and can get the boss to kill a quest boss or Fort boss as well

You can get one god summon per year on the truce grounds, though.

I think you lose favor for this though, so if you want the final gift you either need extra favor or a lot of shit to offer to make up what you lost.

You need 4700~ favor for summon + secret gift. Imo an extra 700~ is way easier to come by than a rod of wishing.

Got my first . I'm guessing Littler Girl->Witch is the better evolution path than Valkyrie, so that leaves the Young Lady and Fire Dragon Child. Not sure which one I should evolve first.

The ones that give you abilities and not stat boosts. Maybe with the exception of the +life, +mana feats.
The bonuses from the stat feats become miniscule in time, while the ability feats give you abilities you absolutely cannot get any other way.

Exorcist. So that your equipment won't get doomed.
Vampire Touch to heal slightly, when your MP is low.
Knowledge of wild plants. AOE which only affect hostiles and adds poison.

If you have mining, you can (D)ig the wall.

If you can't do any of that, you have no choice but to kill yourself. Give any items (equip is safe AFAIK) you don't want to lose to your imouto, then hang yourself with a rope or wait for your character to starve. You will drop some stuff, but if you get mining from a trainer in Vernis and head back to Lumiest ASAP, you might be able to get your stuff back before the map is reset.

You don't need to have mining to dig walls.
It will work painfully slow though.

I've received way too many cursed whisperings in my sleeps so I hope the exorcist helps. Item curses are just inconvenience but all those resistances I get from food tends to happen way too often on my end I even have happy bed

That's why I always have some spell or rod of teleportation.

Exorcist doesn't help against losing resistances in sleep.
It sucks. Better give them to pets, they don't lose them.
Turning random effects off could help too, but resists aren't worth it.

So I'm level 50ish, and I'm at the point where enemies are killing my pets and to a lesser degree, me with their magic fairly easily. Is there a way to increase my resistances without equipment? I already have maxed out fire, lightning, sound, nether and darkness resistances, but if it's the other elements or the magic hit my pets, things go to shit real quick. I also already have max mutations, and the resistances that come from eating corpses.

I've been wondering if equipping an item that reduces resistances on a pet allows them to get higher resistances by eating corpses. I haven't had a chance to test it, though.

Magic damage is its own resistance that you need to chunk for. It doesn't actually apply to any elemental damage for calculations. You'll either need and item or just start looking to pets becoming stronger.
Besides that, you could just get the defender godpet, evolve them, and then stuff them full of magic resist shit since they have absolute defender and will take damage for others. Not that that's really available to you at your level, the problem is probably just that they're under-level. Just keep training them and going around with them, 100,000 gp for each of them every now and then will keep their statgain ridiculously high and they'll eventually be able to take the shots by themselves.

I'm trying to do the tower of fire but the way to the stairs is blocked. I can't dig either because I keep getting burned before I can. The wiki told me that I need to teleport but a magical field prevents me from teleporting. Do I just have to obtain enough fire resistance until I don't get damaged anymore or is there a trick to it?

I'm running 1.71 on Windows 10, I honestly didn't have to do anything special at all. I wish I could help you out there but I doubt Compatibility mode is going to help too much, maybe try running it as an administrator.

Just checked the kikepedia page on their mythological counterpart and apparently they were swedish faeries that were friendly but if you followed her into the forest she would kill you. Combined with her natural skillset I guess that she'd be friendly and flirtatious at first glance, but she actually has a sociopathic side to her and enjoys seeing others suffer - maybe to the point of implying she's getting off in her kill messages?

Casting and memorization are trained at mages guild in Lumiest.
You need to make guild quest for that first though.
Shotgun attack is very dependant on range, pick laser gun with energy cell instead.

Just focus on getting all skills and raise them afterwards. Don't forget to raise your attributes too by food.

at your level you should focus more on your skills and your pets skills. your pets will level much faster than you so you can use them as meat shields. casting you should already have, memorization you have to learn at the mage's guild. follow whatever god you want but getting mani's guns can be a bit hard compared to other gods

with pet skills what you need to do is give them money, which you can do by (i)nteracting with them and talking to them and doing evochat and passing them 100k gold. Or you can give them ores or flowers for them to sell at town. Something else you'll want to do is get your pets the pickpocket skill (you'll want them to get basically every skill), which requires gene engineering. You need to do a quest to do this, and once you can the usefulness of your pets will skyrocket.

The pick pocket skill will make your pets steal gold from enemies they kill so they can fund themselves. Cooking skill will make your pets cook for you, which increases your attribute potential. Tailoring will cause them to create armor for you.

Give them to your pets, or just let them walk over them and they'll pick them up automatically. When you're in a town, they'll sell the ores and spend the gold on training.

The main use for Riding (at least for a newbie) would be to replace your own slow speed with a pet's speed. If you're a golem, it'd be very useful, but otherwise you might want to skip it while you're learning the basics.

Check \save\bone.txt. It should say where you died. My understanding is that you can only lose items in non-random areas, so you might be able to recover the cooler box.

Keep in mind, when THEY sell those they usually get a LOT more money than you would usually get when selling those. So Just drop all gold bars on them. Hoard ores to craft tablets of emerald with alchemy and then give those to them for maximum training.

Do you mean like evolution hearts? Potions of mutation can be bought from magic vendors if you invest in them, a lot, like up to 100 shop level, and potions of evolution can give you 2-4 random positive mutations guaranteed which can also be found in shops of that level. All of these drop in dungeons.

make sure to bless those potions of evolution first. its pretty easy to get blessed water, pick up all water or empty bottles you have. refill empty bottles at the holy well in noyel, (d)rop bottles of water onto altars to turn them into blessed water.

Blessing a item blesses the entire stack. That's reason enough to use them in stacking items that benefit form it, isn't it?

Yeah, you need evolution hearts for that. They start dropping around level 45~ and up dungeons I'm pretty sure.
The only thing that really benefits from being blessed are the potions of evolution, because that increases the chance of getting 4 positive.

Blessing potions of evolution ensures you get more positive mutations from them. I think normal potions of evolution give you 2 while blessed ones give you 4.

Unless you're a mutant having to deal with the 50% speed penalty, or wearing tons of -spe top tier artefacts like the metal dragon ring, riding isn't worth it. You'll be faster by wearing two speed rings and having lulwy as your god for the trick.

Mutant race characters get a new limb every 3? levels until a certain level and there's a doctor in act 2? that'll let you trade points from your life stat (permanent HP modifier) in exchange for extra limbs up until a certain amount of extra limbs. This man has, I believe, beaten the final boss of act 1 using only an inherited pet (to minimize exp gain), maxed out on limbs from Doctor Gavela, and then gotten the rest of his limbs from leveling up, savescumming to make sure each and every additional limb is a hand slot.

Yes. Crafting was pretty overhauled. You can't just up and craft gear… of any kind. But you can make artifacts of any type of gear you have.

But you can also change gear into other kinds of gear.
So even if you have no 7LB, you can turn normal boots into them, then craft artifact boots using that one.

Robber and thief from the slave trader should have pickpocket, yeah.
Gene engineering doesn't have a failure rate either so don't worry about it. Your main pet's level determines if they'll be eligible to combine with other pets, based upon your own gene engineering level. It's basically a 1:1 ratio for if you can or not. If you have 25 gene engineering, but your pet is level 27, you cannot combine that pet with anything else.

You can gene engineer pets 5 levels higher than your gene engineering level.

Can you gene engineer yourself? I've been wanting to do what Sseth said and pickpocket big daddy's arms so it can't resist me.

You can't gene engineer yourself. You can learn pickpocket in the thieves' guild in Derphy though.

Just increase your potential with any trainer and buy a couple cheap slaves to level your skill. It levels up pretty fast.

If whatever you're gene engineering into your pet has skills that are higher than your pet's, it will increase the skill level of your pet. By how much I couldn't tell you.
If your pet doesn't have a skill the other person has, your pet will gain that skill. You can't lose any skills by gene engineering though, so it's pretty much risk free unless you count going over the 13 limb limit and lose speed.

You can use Custom AI to teach a pet a spell, but you have to have practiced with the spell until it reaches level 50.
The only other way is to spend AP, but you have to have completed the first main quest and moved to the second continent to do that.

Pets aren't easy to teach when it comes to spells. If you have elonacustom, then it's a different story; however, if you don't, there's still a few ways.
Just hand the fugger a wand and let them zap away.
If they're able to be evolved, they'll learn a new spell depending on what they evolve into.
They can gain motes of "AP" by killing high level monsters. Later, this can be used to make them learn "Variable storm", "Crystal(Magic) spear(bolt)", tactical heal(Healing rain, critical heal, magic harvest, and regeneration), tactical curse (All the curses.) and "attack into magic darts" actions from Leold the Black Gauntlet long after you beat part 1 of the game, that is.
As for custom: it's more intuitive to say the least.

Herb in, equipment bonuses, prostitution, skills that utilize charisma (red ribbon icon), the list goes on.

1. Keep the potential up with potions of potential, breakfasts, etc.
2. Investing. Investing investing investing. Specifically "Invest 50". There is not a single thing in the game that gives experience like Invest 50 does. It's not cheap at first, but with Investing levels and your own progression, it's just a fountain of Cha exp.
