I mean I could understand if it was one or two faggot dev team, almost everyone does it.
And not just in online games, but in singleplayer games as well.

Lazy devs force players to relearn the game instead of refining the game itself. If they actually cared, they'd adjust the rest of the game to be competitive with the fun stuff instead of forcing everyone to play the "right" way.

Damn near every exploit (in the terms of WEAPON + SKILL ^ OTHER SKILL * CLASS MOD) was crippled with the explicit purpose of keeping players from stomping all over these pieces of shit with ease. When you have to do literally trillions of damage to an enemy by shooting it in the head many thousands of times, your shit is fucked.
Still, those dicklickers at Queerbox eventually gave up, and Zer0's BORE skill is still fucking broken against enemies with multiple hitboxes, and Jack's You Have My Shield + any decent (or preferably legendary) roid shield = boss gibs.

If you just buff other options, everyone will die faster.

If the fun "bug" just kills people faster, then nerfing might be necessary. But consider strafejumping in Quake 3, if id had patched that out it would have destroyed a lot of the game. Similar story with combos being a mistake in Street Fighter 2's development.

The DS2 lightning nerf. Lightning was pretty fucked on launch. You could clear a path to the boss and have enough casts to kill some bosses. Instead of sensibly limiting the amount of charges or sensibly decreasing the damage lightning did, they did BOTH and by an insane amount. ~30 casts of the weakest lightning miracle turned into ~10. Damage also dropped to the point where very common enemies took 3-6 casts to kill.

PayGays 2 hit full auto weapons so hard, they looked Ugandan. It somehow got to the point where an MP5A4 was outclassed by a fucking Glock 26.

Rebirth did fuck head of krampus but dark bum, while a stupid change on principle alone, didn't make the item unviable at least.
It's afterbirth that really fucked shit up.
Those two just fuck with BoI's fundamental design, like what the hell. A shame too, since I really liked Lilith and the item interactions of it and +. But those two changes alone made antibirth the best version. Have they been modded out yet ?

Man why is it Quake 3 that always gets the spotlight on general Quake stuff. The other day ago I think I saw Quake 3 presented as if its the game with the race mod.

This piece of shit. It's not enough that the game gets very grindy and having a hero die can cost you hours of game time, the devs also have to nerf or outright remove interesting ways to use characters or synergies to make it as boring as possible.
It's still kinda fun but the devs are fucking retarded.

I think that was a direct consequence of people starting to talk how cheating in a single player game or even playing on easy was anathema. A necessary backlash against excessive handholding, sure, but some devs took it the wrong way and interpreted it as "suffering is part of the fun". If the game makes you go through legit shit, it's all the more fun when you finally break through, right ? If that is true, then you should have no possible means of trivializing the annoying part. We wouldn't want you to miss on that exhilarating feeling of victory. :^)

It's a business decision made by the publisher to appeal to the majority of dumb, shitty gamers who can't get good.

Video games aren't a hobby for gamers and programmers anymore. It's a business and a means to spread political propaganda.

Stop playing games that were made by people whose sole purpose of making the game was to spread propaganda or to make money. Start playing games by people who love video games so much they want to make video games.

I really want to see a multiplayer game where the only devs only balance the game through continuous buffing of weapons, items, and players.

It would work if enemies were constantly buffed accordingly.
Powercreep is only bad when it's one-sided.
Warframe is a game where players get constantly nerfed and mobs get constantly buffed.

Maybe if you suck because autos are still fine the nerf to the bodyshots do headshot damage perk didn't seem to change much to me since everything still dies in a couple of hits anyway.

The heat gauge in Monster Hunter Generations.
The Monster Hunter franchise has a weapon known as the Gunlance. It's a lance with a cannon on the end, and you use it by comboing between firing and stabbing. It's very fun if you can get into it, but it isn't very powerful. The devs go out their way to make sure that the defense-ignoring shells do little damage at the endgame, so gunlancers started ignoring the gun part and started stabbing more.
Some genius at Capcom looked at this and came up with an ingenious solution: Nerf the gunlance. Now it has a heat gauge that goes up when you fire shells, and your stabbing damage is tied to how high the gauge is. You shoot to raise it, then stab to do damage. Sounds decent so far, but then they made it so that if you overload the gauge it goes down to 0 for a minute. No other weapon in the game fucks over your DPS because you attacked one too many times, and they gave this nerf to what was already one of the worst weapons in the game.
To hit as hard as you would have in the last game you need the gauge high, and even that is relatively low DPS. The gauge ruined the free-flowing combos the gunlance was capable of but at least Generations gave it a rocket jump

TF2. Around Christmas 2013 they released a few balance changes, and one of them pretty much broke the game.
For context, the Engineer class is usually vulnerable to explosives, because they can take him and his buildings out. They added a weapon called the Short Circuit, which gives a tiny zap in front of the engie but can disable explosives. If you timed it well you could reduce damage to your base, or outright cancel a solder or demo spamming from a distance. It required skill, but was balanced
In this update, they made it rapid fire. Now you could sit there and hold down left click and counter the classes which are supposed to counter engineers. Engie walks faster than the explosive classes too, so you could walk up to one with your projectile-eating flamethrower-ish gun and zap them to death while they try to run or rocket jump away. They've tried to balance it since but it was ridiculous when it happened.


There's a Brawl mod called Brawl- which does that. It goes by the idea that if everyone is bullshit, nobody is.

I think I'm glad that I didn't pick up MHG if they made one of the coolest weapon designs into something bottom of the barrel tier. Unfortunately I learned to love the Lance and its triple step dodges, over the single step that the Gunlance has.

Rebalancing a single player game. I cam't for the life of me understand this especially for games like DaS where you are meant to have a large variety in terms of builds, why waste time making something cool as shit like throwing fucking lightning worthless? What is the point when you have 10 other builds that destroy the game just as much, why not just focus that energy on buffing trash builds to make them usable, or better yet not bother at all.

Well this is basically what happened to WoW. Leveling used to be long and treacherous and dungeons required you to really work together CCing mobs and whatnot. Nowadays you just bladestorm your way to max level in a weekend and thunderclap sargeras the day after.

Sounds cool, but it has to feel metal as fuck to use the most buffest of weapons.

There is extremely bad case of that shit in Warframe.
Not only they nerf frames and guns, then next best frames and guns etc…

They nerfed whole game by removing keys and replacing them with these balls of shit.
As if 8x grind isn'r enough (you just needed to farm keys, now you got to grind for 4x more keys and also this annoying 'fuel' for them).
But now game completely discourages multiplayer. If you need to go for some specific item good fucking luck finding 3 more people who also going there or even people from your guild who would help and willing to spend time and all those balls of shit to grind said items.

Quality of life. Basically changes made to make the game not as tedious or clunky.

I get what Sega was going for with the "first advanced class" thing, but if advanced classes are going to be this much better than the old classes, they should have added more than one advanced class to start off with so that not everyone would be playing hero.

Darkest Dungeon is what happens when you ask for difficulty, and not fun.

Games that involve killing nowadays already have critically low TTKs to make skill the least important thing possible so the casuals don't get pissed off.
What you want is to take a casual generic shooter and turn it into a dumbed down insurgency, and insurgency is already shit.
