i don't know You are using Zandronum 3, right? It finally released last thursday. The md5sum of doom2.wad should be 30e3c2d0350b67bfbf47271970b74b2f and the client should show it to you when it gives you the error. Glance over the other wads too and see if one got fucked up somehow.

Right, I've just asked a very helpful user ingame and he says he got it working by just taking the doom2.wad from the retard-proof download in the OP (the same one you have). If that doesn't work for you the issue is being caused somewhere else, probably a conflicting .wad. Could you clean your wads folder and try from that?
Also please provide a screenshot of the connection window where it spits the error message, that would make this much easier.

Run it windowed (alt+enter), screenshot the entire page and crop. If you're on (((windows))) printscreen will work.

v-omgmaps.wad redownloaded from one of the "special" links and was the exact same, but cool.wad was searched for on multiple links and downloaded from one of them so i manually downloaded it from the 1488 link and it werked

and one more thing, if you want some crazy retarded coop shit you could look into some of the slaughterwads. they tend to make toasters cry so it might not be a great idea all things considered, but they provide a 4 to 5 digit monster count with huge and mostly straightforward "kill all the dudes" maps.

There's also D4T(Doom 4 Touch(aka Death Foretold) which adds Doom 4 weapons, monsters and some of the mechanics and does it better than D4D(Doom 4 Doom) and the original itself.

I think it might be… I use OBS Studio too with a dedicated streaming machine. One thing I've been wondering is how to setup Hauppauge Capture properly with Twitch as it seems they never updated to use streamkeys.

However, I'm not entirely sure that Hauppauge Capture does anything different than OBS under the hood.

What kind of fucking host uses a shitty old harder to get version of doom 2 and forces everyone else to use it instead of the normal one only so the server can be more "retard-friendly" despite the normal version being way fucking easier to get

Using an old version of Doom 2 in the retard-pack was not intentional user, we're still not quite sure how it happened. We spent all our time testing that and didn't realise until someone else tried to connect.

Why use a retardpack in the first place? If you browse Holla Forums and can't figure out how to run doom, there a high change you would have to fuck off, especially when there's already links contaning files the server uses that you add to wadseeker to automatically download.
In fact, all this retardpack has done was fuck with anyone who isn't a braindead retard and cause multiple compatibility problems.
should i also mention the host constantly forgetting to name the wads used for the server causing compatibility problems to both sides due to wadseeker downloading a wad from some other random link

Believe me, past experience with gamenights has taught me you need to make things as simple as possible for anons. Otherwise one of us normally me ends up spending the entire gamenight doing tech support. I mean I ended up doing that anyway but whatever.

In this case the tech support was our own fault so I can't really complain.

Part of the problems are also caused by us picking maps with the thought that we'd mostly be around 16-17 anons and maybe peak at 22. We've been stable at 22-24 and often pushing 32 and the majority of the maps we've got just weren't designed for that. Never underestimate how popular doom is going to be, I suppose.

We've tried instructions that simple, there are still many fuckups. Now granted we could just ignore anons with problems but I'd rather as many as possible got a shot to play.

Alternatively think of it this way: the anons most likely to fuck up simple installations are the ones who most need to experience older, better multiplayer games (particularly FPS games). It's better for them to see that it isn't just nostalgia and bullshit when older/more experienced anons say multiplayer vidya has declined massively in quality.

I think you mean over quantity. Regardless there are plenty of (often younger) anons out there who never got a chance to play older mp games and yes, they're also a bit crap at installing them due to everything being done for them on consoles/steam. It's still worth a bit of effort to show them a world of better vidya. On top of that there are older anons who are just having a bad day with installing things.
As I said we've only got a few maps designed for >20 players, we did not expect this many to show up for Doom so quickly. In hindsight a mistake but frankly there are worse problems than having too many anons. We'll get some larger ones for tomorrow.

Public but everyone who hasn't seen this thread would have the massive compatibility issues from our various fuckups, pretty much everyone ingame is an user. You can normally spot non-anons in a gamenight from a mile away anyway.

We're using wads that you can only get from our servers, which are linked in the op and preconfigured in the retardproof client. The server is public but normalfags can't play unless they find the thread.

Zandronum needs to update to ZDoom 2.8.1 and GZDoom 2.2.0 at least in order to run Colourful Hell and Droplets.

Read the instructions I posted earlier. Now tell me, even with tech support, how do you fuck fulfilling those instructions out? Hell, I may have skipped 1 step, that being
before changing the in-game settings, but that's so fucking minor I could have skipped it. It's a step that's basically pure common sense.

LARGER MAPS BACK ON

No matter how simple you make things someone will always fuck up, hell we did with the doom2.wad fuckup and we've been working this out for ~2 weeks granted having a hurricane displace half the anons involved halfway through did not help. I'm telling you this with ~6 months of doing gamenights on Holla Forums and it's been a consistent theme as far back as SWBF2 before we even got organised. We have, of course, simplified instructions so anons are less likely to mess up but it always happens. Being able to reduce that and provide a download configured by default more similarly to 'modern' games for those who need it is ideal.
The settings menu is a clusterfuck, that's why we also provided images on how to change resolution, playernames etc. The retard-proof pack is also configured for ease of use elsewhere: by default the chat is only 4 lines long rather than the ~12 it's set to and gets filled with fucktons of messages every time you pick up an item (also disabled). A tiny change that any user with experience can make in a few seconds but one that newer anons will often not bother to fix or will try to fix, get bored and give up. There are a few other changes we made like that. They aren't big things individually but put them together and you get a game you can just extract and play instead of spending ~10-20 minutes tweaking it to your liking.

That was hardly intentional. I point out again that, right in the middle of testing, most of the primary anons involved had to evacuate due to hurricane-related shenanigans. As a result the host, for example, was up all of last night hunting down the majority of the lasting issues with the retard pack (obviously he did not get them all but he got most of them). The only really annoying mistake was doom2.wad, the rest could have been fixed by just renaming files on our end without clients having to do anything. If that wasn't an issue the retard pack would have massively, massively reduced the required tech support rather than increased it.

Most of the handful of fags I have doing behind the scenes of gamenights live on the East Coast of the USA because that's the best place pingwise worldwide.
