Secret of Mana remake

Are you retarded?

Will be out next year for PS4/Vita/PC, no news of western release

They probably deleted it because it was blatant shitposting that encouraged console war you dumb fuck

No, actually OP deleted his own thread out of shame, just like I said he would.

lie

It'll get a mobile release too

It doesn't say that in the trailer, what surprise me is that it isn't on Switch or 3DS which is funny considering the original game was on SNES and the remake isn't really graphically demanding

because announcing the mobile release at the same time as the console release is a stupid move.
They'll release it on consoles, get as many sales as they can and then release it on mobiles.

here we go
Do you have a black boyfriend?

you forgot to say "cripplechan, oh how I hate this cripplechan, t. 4channer"

in other word, you're talking right out of your ass? gotcha

so you're a nigger?
Can't say I am surprised.

Adventure of mana was released on mobiles and it uses the same engine as this turd.
Just because you're blind doesn't mean light doesn't exist.

you are this community's shortcoming though you nigger.

Stocking is too good for you.

Why would I be mad over you being a nigger?

>>>/pone/

old OPs spergfit: archive.fo/AaYd4

You faggot. Thats stocking from panty and stocking.

So… you talking out of your ass? Okay, I got it, you can stop now

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

FUCK

Literally just started playing again yesterday when the subject came up in the webm thread and now modern day Squeenix is gonna fuck it all up again? Great.

does it offend you that you're shilling for a glorified mobage?

Are you dumb?

I know a horse when I see one, don't you try to make up excuses

I don't give a fuck which mlp fanfiction it's from.

Are you sure its not the other way around?

...

Holy shit, this is worse than an Undertale thread.

At least the thread is worth a chuckle.
& Knuckles

...

wew lad so mad

its from a japanese anime you tard

This is the part where the turbo autists accuse you of posting humanized Applejack and Twilight Sparkle

wew lad stop anytime

The japs are making MLP spinoffs now?

Now I think about it, panty and stocking isn't even that good.

what a fuckin meme.

So someone made a Blu Ray cover for their mlp fanfic? OK.
Look, there's even a humanized Applejack on it, can't make up excuses now

...

PnS is probably one of my most favorite animes ever the dub is better

Did calling you out on your lies makes you angry so much?

Eh the animation was sketchy at times but that let the artists have way more fun actually animating the series which gave it a much looser feel than most anime. The plot wasn't necessary, characters were real designed and the jokes were funny. Only thing that dumpstered it was the terrible ending and that fact it's a MLP spinoff

No amount of anime pictures are going to hide how butthurt you are shilling for your mobage.
If anything it highlights your asspain.

Still talking right out your ass? Whatever help you sleep at night I guess

Are you so mad that you have an anal fixation?
Better sit on an ice block m8, you might burn your chair.

That's because it's basically a Western cartoon made by Nips, and they can't hope to emulate brash nigger Garterbelt even though they give a decent attempt.

Are you?

Jesus Christ, just stop posting, both of you. Neither of you are going to get the last word. You're actually managing to make a shitty thread worse.

Its a shame that square has it in its head that the west hates mana, even though every game they used for a measuring stick for the series where complete shit and should never have been made. That PS2 abomination, and that medicore grind fest DS 4 player co-op dungeon generator specifically. Hell those said B team projects, probably gonna fail, all over them. Too many companies still think slapping a name over something will fix the "no one will but this shit" problem its just annoying to see them use it as a "no one bought this shit game, obviously the series is dead" as evidence.

Shit I've seen that actually happen in RL a few times.

It probably would end up being better.

Could be good. Hopefully they'll add in the cut content into the game.

Don't count on it, I find it doubtful anyone who worked on the original would hate themself enough in current year to continue suffering in this god forsaken industry, since they would have had a front row seat to witness the decline of vidya in full gory detail.

But since I like torturing myself, do we have any solid info on what was cut when the game got downgraded from CD to be unceremoniously crammed into a cartridge?

Why do people insist on making humanized versions of animal characters? It's not going to make me want to fuck them because I already know they're really a horse.

Those graphics look pretty shit. Hopefully they don't butcher the combat too badly.

*tip*

Not everything is all doom and gloom, faggot.

Oh you sweet child of summer.

Take off that tinfoil hat and acquire better taste in KLK girls.

Going two-player in secret of mana with my older cousin is one of my fondest memories as a kid. We played the whole game together. It was so long ago.

(checked)

Fucking a, I thought everyone was talking about a trailer that came out a while ago, I didn't know this came out today. What the fuck. Are our chats being data minded?

You lot never cease to amaze with your shit taste..

Like Junko Enoshima, she's only good for the porn.

...

Yes

to me you're all the same, to me you are all triggerniggers and have no taste in anime beyond kill la kill, cowboy beep boop, trigun and probably talk about legend of the galactic heroes despite never watching it to seem like an enlightened not just a le 90s anime fan.

Damn it I should have known.

Who cares what you think loser

Never played the original but I've heard good things about it. Looks cute

Typical. Not that I'm real interested, but still typical.

Pretty sure that's HACCAN's work, even if trying to reverse search grants no results for an artist name on that particular image of the girl (even the full body render). I'd seen him do Mana artwork before, but I didn't know he was actually putting out official art until double checking.

I liked his designs for Avalon Code, so it's neat to see he's been getting work outside that and Mushihime-sama.

>Watch Gun X Sword recently.
I like Cowboy Bebop myself, but for fucks sake, just because a series is an anime western doesn't mean it's going to be, nor should it be, a carbon copy of either of those. Though, I suppose the ongoing meme that "it's just Trigun with mechs" has given people the wrong impression over the years, or something.

You have even shittier taste than the Nononfag. Congrats.

Meh, could be good or bad, but it doesn't really matter in the end.

Should have known modern SquareEnix would show its hand. At least they kept the Tiger Costume differences.

So I'm assuming this won't really come out of Japan because Squeenix. Besides that they're probably going to fuck it up.

Fucking normalfags couldn't handle mexican GaoGaiGar.

I wonder if they'll finally bring a proper SD3 to the west, too. I mean, they still make doujins and sell porn of Riesz/Lize getting raped by monsters and shit, for fucks sake.

Oh, and Angela is my waifu.

Those moggle outfits are cute.
Why doe it looks so damn familiar? and hot.

I want to wager no since they didn't before when they were doing an anniversary rerelease of Live a Live a while back, but then again they've finally deigned it worth bringing Romancing SaGa 2 and 3 over (mainly as mobile ports, but I think they've also been working on porting those the Vita). Best chance might be if the game sees a 3D remake like SD1 and now 2 are, or if they do a phone release.

Also, maybe it's just me, but after Drakengard 3, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, World of Final Fantasy, and some other games they've handled in recent years, I don't trust these remakes to not have some amount of fuckery in the English scripts.

Monica from Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle?

looks & sounds like shit, why did they have to ruin the original soundtrack with horrible orchestra-crap.

also lol @ op being a retarded squarenix shill

gunsword was crap though

I will admit that they made it damn near as perfect as can be made on the SNES, but it was still originally composed for orchestra.

I really hope so, would be very neat. But we need to be realistic, we're talking about current Square. You know, the same retarded company that waited more than ten years to remake one of their most beloved and famous games. First, I doubt most of the guys who worked there at the time of SD2 are still there. Second, I'm sure they lose the original code for the game and even if they didn't (yeah right) they sure as heck don't have the cut content somewhere anymore. Do I hope I'm wrong and they put the cut content back in? Hell yes. But I certainly won't hold my breath.

It seriously was a fantastic show if you ask me. Great soundtrack too.

Again, I don't necessarily have anything against Cowboy Bebop or Trigun myself (admittedly I still need to watch/read that one though), but I find it a bit silly that some people seem dead-set to consider them "pinnacles" of anime or whatever (despite likely only having watched a handful of shows), and feel a need to draw negative comparison between them and other shows that may or may not actually be all that similar, as opposed to being able to enjoy things on their own terms. I mean, it's one thing to say "I liked [X work] more than [Y work]", and another to say "[X work] was a failure because it WASN'T [Y work]".

According to being in English, it will. Just more than likely not physically, because Square's not given much of a shit about the Vita and physical releases aside from Final Fantasy games.

You have to go back.

Might be enjoyable along with Lost Sphear.
Also, SE announced Workshop support for mods.
It might be interesting

In the game, the Tiger Suits were one on the armors. The Girl had her own Tiger Bikini armor with higher DEF.

It's not even a classic game. The gameplay feels way to shallow. Would have been fun if I was still a kid learning to read.

The shitty English VA pretty much confirms it.

You would think that, but Japanese can be weird about that sometimes.

Looks like dogshit, i'll stick to the original thanks.

Enjoy your overrated sprite art, I guess.

When did I say anything about sprite art?

Why the fuck would anyone pay $40-$60 for a remake when the original is free and still looks good? At least with FF7 you can at least say the early 3D graphics don't hold up, but SoM has good sprite work.

Because nobody have CRT anymore

just opened Steam and got faced with this…

I also literally was playing a couple of weeks back during a snes binge
but fuck, the original is hard and grindy, but mostly because of its awkward action/rpg mix

I literally never pictured that dwarf as looking like that

check ya,
and emulated and pirate isn't the same as free ya know?

Who the hell needs a CRT? I use Retroarch on my Wii with a component cable plugged to my LED and it looks great

You can download emulators from the Google Play store. Any normalfag who knows how to drag and drop files on their computer can play SNES games for free.

I just want a Secret of Evermore remake or sequel.

Do you seriously believe that they will acknowledge something made by filthy gaijin

No. The game loses it's backbone right after spiky tiger dies, everything after is pathetically easy. Any grinding you do is self-imposed.

So how much was the gameplay of this one butchered to fit modern sensibilities? The cheap mobile-style graphics already make me want to vomit.

Well, it's not like Square-Enix hasn't been acquiring and pushing western developed series and studios for the last who-knows-how-long, as if to fill the holes in their roster of franchises made in abandoning various classic franchises over the years. But yeah, I don't think Evermore will ever see a continuation or revival. Granted, I can't speak from experience as to how it was received on release, but these days the title seems rather divisive (note that that isn't me calling it bad; a solid game can still see people quite split on opinion), in imageboard discussions at the very least, and from what I remember hearing, Squaresoft's NA development branch got shuttered after it released, which doesn't speak of there being much good will the Japanese branch had for them to keep it up.

Kill yourself you fucking casual

From Steam
Furfrag armor DLC are the top 3 key features. Wow.
Holy shit a wallpaper. as if there aren't already plenty of them to find on the internet that are probably better.
Too bad it looks like a generic mobile game. Really sad since the original had some of the nicest graphics on the SNES in my opinion.
Oh great, I can only assumed they butchered the fuck out of it to make it easy to play for casual retards.

I suppose I should get worked up. I didn't ask for or expect a remake anyway. The original game is fine. This shit just screams cash grab, especially with the price point and "PRE ORDER NOW DO IT" bonuses.

shouldn't get worked up*

Are you stupid? Of course they're going to release it on mobile. To declare so right now would obviously kill sales, because people would look at the game as a game that was made for mobile first and foremost.
And nobody would want to spend $40 on that shit.

CALLING IT NOW
THEY'RE GOING TO FUCK THE COMBAT BY MAKING IT SO YOU DON'T NEED TO CHARGE YOUR ATTACKS TO HIT, REMOVING WEAKNESS FROM BOSSES AND MAKING IT SO ALL DAMAGE TYPES ARE VIABLE

Holy tits, that looks awful. I'd probably be more okay with it if I'd never seen what the original looks like, but this is just a direct downgrade.
Well fuck you too, Squeenix.

Agreed. I mean look at the god awful mobile tier graphics. The characters don't even have fucking shadows. Like, not even a a dark circle underneath them (which would still be shit but better than nothing at all). You'd think if they were releasing this for PS4/PC they'd have good lighting, shadows, shading and whatnot.

...

What in the literal fuck.

...

Fucking lol, I hadn't noticed that at all. That's fantastically dumb.

Except it doesn't, and it isn't butchered in the slightest.

Secret of Mana is already an incredibly easy game you mouth breathing retard.

Is it gonna be a shit mobile port where they don't even remove the mobile interface during the porting process like Adventures of Mana

It's a stylistic choice and it looks clean, cartoony and lighthearted. It's perfect.

Well it looks closer to a mobile game than a PS4 game. THE CHARACTERS DON'T EVEN HAVE SHADOWS. And yes I know the original was easy but I meant they'll make it even easier.

It's fucking shit and a disgrace to the original game.

okay

No it's not, it clashes too much with what they were aiming for in the original, even the original had a problem of conflict but back then those were due to limitations/the fucking downgrade to cartridge
there is really no reason for using this style other than cutting costs by using the same engine adventures of mana had (>>13293491)
which is a pretty awful engine

(((THEY))) ARE ALSO ADDING NAZI PUNCHING AND OTHER FUNNY (((LEFTY MEMES)))
IT'S ALSO FILLED WITH SJW AND ANTIFA PROPAGANDA
ALL NPCS ARE NIGGERS AND MUDSLIMES FOR DIVERSITY

Just because it doesn't look like Uncharted 4 doesn't mean it looks like "a generic mobile game a bloo bloo bloo!"

We don't know what they mean by "refining the gameplay". Square refined FFIV's gameplay in the DS remake and it's the most challenging and engaging version of the game period.

The original isn't a sacred cow. Get over it.

Elaborate.

Also there's no proof it's using the AoM engine.

Don't delude yourself it's pretty clear it's the same engine as

Provide a source or fuck off.

Why the fuck is there so much autism for this game when it wasn't even that good and had a rip off clone that was 3x better?

evermore was incredibly average, far worse story, characters, atmosphere, world and gameplay than secret of mana, despite being a engine-clone of it

There's not much to elaborate on, just look at the original concept art, it becomes aparent the game was meant to be more than that it finally became, and comparing it to the new style it feels like a punch in the gut.

True true, great points there. Anyway google "3D mobile action rpg" and you'll find a bunch of games that look just like it. Some even manage to have better graphics, and you know, shadows.

Are you being paid or something? Fuck this gay thread I'm out. Have fun with your butchered game.

I disagree entirely. Everything in Evermore was better including the gameplay which had much less grind. I got all the way to the final temple in Mana and dropped it while I finished Evermore to completion.

Then why does it look better?

'Kay. You have a nice day, friend.

Did you miss the part where i'm emulating them and using a component cable? Do you think that I play them at 16:9 like a retard or something? CRT are a meme.

Make a good game if you want it to sell instead of turning history into garbage, kike.

...

You are without a doubt a shill.

Evermore was nowhere near as good, and I like Evermore.

They fucked up remaking the first one twice and squeenix has been dogshit since the turn of the century. Get with the times you stupid fucking kids, it'll be awful.

Nah

How much are they paying you?

Holly shit this is hitting me in the nostalgia

okay

Evermore sucked ass. I dropped it near the beginning while I played Secret of Mana to the end

The repetitive RPG Maker-tier tileset is so ugly and blatant, especially when viewed top-down with that minimap in the top corner
None of the models have shadows connecting them to the ground, there's no sense of depth here. It's like a really badly done example of pre-rendered backgrounds
The UI shows barely any sign of creativity, all of the bars look like something I could whip up in 10 minutes in Photoshop and the font isn't particularly striking or memorable either
On top of that the UI layout is rather poor, you can see the portrait on the right slightly overlapping with the stats, and the placement of the stats of the leftmost character is inconsistent with the rest
There's barely any detail in this screenshot unlike here , it's all just mostly flat textures. Lighting is barely used to any effect here, there is one shadow here which implies there is a source of light from the left, but because this isn't applied to the character models or because the west-oriented surfaces aren't comparatively brighter, it only creates this sense of visual disconnect where shit just isn't consistent. If the shadow is the result of the tiger firebreath, then it does a very bad job at representing that
The minimap actually implies more use of shadows, but it's barely visible in the gameworld itself, just look at the shadow behind the gate in the minimap and in the gameworld
The models themselves look good, but if I didn't know any better I'd think this was a 'HD' port of some DS/PSP game

I have no idea what drives you to defend this, this should be Red Flag Forest

I fail to see how. Mana felt generic as hell aside from the combat system. Which was much less fun than in Evermore. In any case both games had broken ass combat systems. At the very least Evermore allowed you to screw around with it and have fun.

lol

You seem to have trouble reading. Try again

I did. You didn't play for more than 20 minutes I take it? Might as well have not played the game. If I did the same in Mana I wouldn't be talking shit.

That's literally what every RPG looks like in SNES, so you're complaining that it was the same as the original?

you are nuts, Low-Poly is great and I don't want to upgrade my toaster yet. Their is only one screenshot that looks a bit iffy but the rest look beautiful. The Art design is top notch and graphics are not what make good games.

It looks like every single generic mobage out there released during the last 5 years.

oh shit good point. That is actually cool. the mini map it literally the original SNES graphics.

Look man, I got a wife and two kids; mouths to feed.

Just please, please…PLEASE for the love of God BUY THIS GAME.

Couple hours.
Mana captivated me much more quickly.
Dont see why I need to play a game to completion to say I don't like it

doesn't matter. It's on Steam so a pc version we'll be pirate

Note the deleted posts early in the thread, from when Mark wiped his shitposting out. dac4a6 is the OP from the last thread who threw that sperg fit, deleted his thread to cover it up, and then came here and admitted he was just here to stir shit before getting a 2 hour ban.

Now he's back and you niggers are feeding him (You)s again.

Quit stalking me, Shlomo.

Highly doubt that. If Mana "captivated" you fine. But it's a structurally worse game. The only thing I can assume is that you like the generic fantasy universe more than the genre casserole that was Evermore. Which doesn't say anything about how much worse everything else was in Mana. The first segment in Evermore is a bit frustrating till you actually learn how the game works. Mana's just a long grind while working for better equipment and weapon damage. Evermore's somewhat the same but simplified to not be as time consuming but still just as fun. Basically Evermore cut out the shit elements in Mana and kept the interesting portions like the interesting setting and unique situations and characters. The desert segment in Evermore and twin kingdoms was infinitely more interesting than anything Mana had to offer.

This is the same screen in the original SNES version. Notice how the visual discrepancy between the SNES character sprites and the SNES backgrounds aren't as large between the new characters and backgrounds

Then look at the third screenshot here and how prettier everything looks when you cover up your tilesets. Tilesets tend to work better with sprite graphics since the detail discrepancy isn't usually as large between backgrounds and character sprites, but even then you want to cover up your tileset with some details, shadows, and so on

It says a lot about the setting planning and level design if they couldn't make the first section appealing and instead a "genre casserole" as you put it.
I didn't find Mana to be very grindy so I dont agree that is a very strong factor against it.

The fuck are you smoking retard?

It was appealing? Again it comes to preference but I've seen more action rpg's open with a setting like Mana's than I have with Evermores. Which only threw off my expectations the further I went into it. Where as Evermore only got more boring as it progressed.
What the fuck do you play to find Mana not grindy? I would say over 30% of the game is nothing but grind. To the point where I started to use the fast forward when I was emulating it and saved myself over 4 hours.

I guess that Chrono Trigger is shit too since it is as much of a "genre casserole" as Evermore!

then how do you explain this

and what do you think I meant when I said
but the rest of the art looks look. I think you are having an autist fit over nothing.

Are you blind? thats a 3D environment, the minimap show the 2D map from the original game.

Look at the floor, you can clearly see the repeating textures

I think you got your answer.
You made a post asking why your shittier clone of Mana didn't do as good and got several replies from people saying they didn't like it. What exactly do you expect to obtain from sperging at people who liked Mana better?

You never have to grind in SoM, it's always optional. The only spell you really need is the cure one, and that'll stay at the proper levels through use.

Meanwhile your alchemy is going to be garbage in evermore unless you grind it. You're going to need to grind either alchemy or your weapons to stand a chance, annnnnd Whenever you update your weapons you need to grind them up again through the same three levels that have the same three results. The weapon grind in evermore is far more tedious and the magic grind requires items and money, instead of just spending a few casting near a mp-recharging npc.

I like both games, but to say that evermore cut out the grind was ridiculous, it made it a lot worse by cutting down weapon and weapon skill variety.

Looks like some mobile phone game.

The thing is that Evermore is still a better game in every other area while Mana has 1 element that you find better that other games already have and do much better. Mana isn't the first Action RPG set in a fantasy universe and it's certainly not the best or even in the top 10's for the system at being original.

The only spergs are the people who think Mana is in any way anything above mediocre. The only thing it has that's different is the combat system and I already explained that Evermore does that better.

There's only so much times I can called you a retard but I'm gonna give you a chance to google search a bit about game development.

Probably because he she? is missing a bread. Drawf women have breads too right?.

Story was more enjoyable since it was all about B movie wanking. It was great.

It seemed to be better in the more important areas if it appealed to more people. Even accounting the reduced marketing Evermore had, some people here that played both said they liked Mana better.
And no, the sperg is the one who can't accept reality and keeps pestering people as if that would change it.
Like I said, you got your answer.

To be fair the art style of the original would be too much effort, passion and hard work for the games industry in current year.

Looks like nostalgia bait™

I meant beard.

Evermore has the stigma of being a rip off (which it is) but it's still a better made game. And the "important areas" are what exactly? I already stated the gameplay is worse in mana and you havn't exactly aid anything to counter that.
Ironic coming from somebody who cant refute my points and keeps dragging on about "preference" despite not even playing the game past level 1. If you liked Mana more for the setting then there's about half a dozen action RPG games on the same console that do it better to some extent. You're arguing a game is better despite not even playing to a point where you can properly judge it. Call me a sperg all you want. I actually played the game you think is worse.

First world, oh hey, a sword, an axe, a spear, let's get all those to level 3.

Next world, oh hey… a sword, an axe, a spear…. let's get all those to level 3 again…

Next world…. a sword, an axe, a spear… I'm just going to skip the sword and axe this time since the spear is the only one worth anything.

Then in the end you just let the dog kill everything.

The setting and plot are far too referential.. and these was pretty much the theme of the game, the old B-movie kitsch. More varied than Mana's recolored mana temples, but Evermore loses some of the grand adventure feeling by constantly restarting you in new worlds. The solitary nature of it is a bit of a drag too, what with removing the local co-op for no reason and having extended periods of dog/boy solo. Three people just feels better than two.

I've replayed both games multiple times but I've replayed mana far more than evermore. The script is a lot better in evermore due to the garbo translation of SoM but you feel it's always snickering to you while it's telling the story.

Which game you like more really comes down to your taste and tolerances. I think the adventure overall is better in SoM but Evermore has some better stand out moments like the gothica puppet show that are better than anything mana did.

where was this implied

About no local co-op, there is a romhack that adds that in. All your criticisms however are perfectly valid, the tone of the script doesn't really bother me though, I remember the silly goofball moments with fondness, especially the prophet guy in the 2nd world bazaar.

WE'RE JUST PUPPETS DANCING TO THE BECK AND CALL OF OUR BUTTON-PUSHING OVERLORD!!

Get back to the world that spat you out, we don't want you either.

CRT faggots have the same personality disorder that make people buy 3D and curve tvs, or 1000$ audio cables.

Besides that I find it better than grinding a dozen weapons that are rarely useful. It reduces grind by simplifying the autistic amount of weapons and letting you have fun.
Their all worth something depending on your play style. The game lets you choose. What's the issue here?
Like in Mana where you relied on magic? No better. And the dog was fun as fuck so I don't see how it's much more of an issue.

It does the referential well though and has its own made up references instead of relying on pop culture. If anything I would say Mana's lack of originality is much more referential since it looks like every other action RPG on the SNES.
Name another Action RPG of that time that relied on B movies as its setting. Meanwhile I can name you about half a dozen games on the SNES where you'll have a hard time differentiating the style and universe from Mana.
I'de argue it doesn't since all the worlds are connected on a single island. It just does a good job at pacing while introducing you to a new area. A "grand adventure" isn't really what I felt in Mana anyway since just about every segment did a poor job of feeling any different from the last and didn't do much to throw a curve ball into the gameplay at any point.
I never found multiplayer of Evermore to be worth it. Preference I guess but the game made up for it by not focusing on grind.
At least it makes an effort I suppose. Most SNES action RPG translations are garbage but I never bothered to give a shit about dialog in a gameplay focused RPG.

Overall I don't understand how people can say it comes up to preference. The gameplay in Evermore is a lot less annoying and a lot more engaging than Mana. I genuinely don't understand how people can say Mana has a better "adventure" when most of said adventure is just going through the same areas you've already been in and grinding them for better weapons and armor. Maybe if the translations weren't so shit I might be more inclined to agree with you on some points but god damn the dialog is so shit and the world looks so generic and boring that I can't understand how people can like this game aside from rose tinted glasses. I mean I don't think Evermore is a particularly amazing game in itself but at least it does something infinitely more original despite being a rip off. If there's anything to take out of any of this it's that Mana aged fucking terrible while Evermore aged poorly. I still see moments in Evermore however that stand out and make the game worth trying.

CRT's for older games look great though. I see more butthurt from people hating CRT's than I do from faggots who like them. To the extent that faggots make LCD threads just because the "general screen" threads happen to have more CRT anons in them.

There are no panels on the market that beat CRTs in response time, color reproduction and black levels. And I mean all three of those together. No TN panel with fast response times but garbage colors.

With modern LCDs, if you want to come close in one of those aspects, you're going to fall behind in others. CRTs simply haven't been surpassed yet.

You're thinking of vinyl. There are perfectly valid reasons to use a CRT for older non-HD consoles, such as any game that used light guns, and pseudo-transparency effects that depend on imperfect analog signals to be displayed as intended. But by all means don't let stop you enjoying low-res pixel art butchered by garbage upscalers in your 'superior' modern high-res digital display. Also input lag.

W-will we have to buys this crap for SoM 2 have a chance of a Western release? And if so, would it be worthy, since they'll just ruin it anyway?

Is there input lag if i'm using an emulator?

Also why would I want to use something that is going to give me eye cancer?

no but good luck with the light gun thing, even if you settle for substituting mouse for light gun good luck playing 2-player with that. upscaling is still an issue as well unless you like playing in a tiny window.

Yeah, but it's negligible honestly.

Just play the games however you want.

that is precisely where its hard as fuck,
man its just so annoying, and worst thing is that the enemies chain-attack you, killing so easily
but I mean, the difficulty progression on the game is all off course

You forgot the most important about CRT, scanlines. Its the auto anti-aliasing for retro games. Gamedev create sprite with scanlines in mind to make simulate curve or round edges. So when you play these games on HD TV/monitor, the sprite will looks jaggies as hell because it remove part of the sprite. CRT for old games is not a memes, its a fact.

I didn't really forget, just aware from prior tours of anti/pro CRT threads that scanlines are typically dismissed out of hand as nothing more than a meme by ignorant-ass millenials who think they invented video games.

This is the biggest meme of them all. Pic on the far right isn't even scanlines, it's a shadow mask and shitty composite/RF signal.

Bad colors and fuzzy trash?

I don't get the whole scanline bullshit, and it's hard to be objective but my crt as a kid didn't look or seem to look as shitty as that, maybe it's the effect of zooming in.

I have an old trinitron, big motherfucker too, and I don't see this huge jarring difference between crt and flat panels, though the colors on this thing are slightly fucks so the blacks are blueish and it's aggravating.

You're baiting too, I hope. Because that image he responded with is a Cuckchan special made by one of /vr/'s resident LCDfags.

don't give a fuck about the image. my point still stands.

Your point got its knees shot off and is bleeding out.

I heard from someone that its filled with (((diversity))) and mudslime propaganda

You dont say, you do know its impossible to screenshot a fucking CRT screen right?

With the Adventures of Mana and now this, how long until Seiken Densetsu 3 gets a remake?

Which is why that image is complete bunch, as I said here:

Besides, there's nothing special or magical about the "textured" look caused by consumer sets and shitty signals. It's just visual noise muddying up the image.

pretty much this, CRT just had small few pixels that got blurred and shadowed to shit due to a big tube that increases screen size
plus there were all sorts off problems like shadows and real cable interference

the only faggots who nostalgic about CRT screens are the ones who didn't actually need to live with them
since still no filter really comes close to achieving the last realistic graphics, the first pic is usually the best to go with

I like the one on the left better since I can actually tell what it is

sure kiddo

Theres no fallacy because I'm not saying it's necessarily a better game.
And I have nothing to refute. The point was why it's more popular and you keep desperately changing the point to the things it did "better" and not what made it more appealing. The point was never about which game was better.
We can argue about why Mana appealed to more people but I'm not getting dragged into your autism.

bunk*

28 hours without sleep and still going strong.

Here's a video evidence for you millennials faggots

Oh and btw, please some nerd come and post the full story on how SoM was an marvel of Snes gaming
it was actually designed for a new console that would come with merging of Nintendo and Sony, basically it was first PS
but the merger didn't workout and they had to make it work in the Snes instead

that's basically the whole story.

Next you gonna say anti-aliasing doesn't make any differences visually

An 11 minute long opinion piece. Very informative.

They are when you're using a shit panel like that. Seriously, the amount of backlight bleed on that thing makes it very apparent it has shit black levels. Of course the darker shades of green (which the helmets rely on to differentiate it from the rest of the field) are going to get washed out and blend together.

The rest of his "points" can be summarized as: "pixels hurt muh eyes. Blur guuuud. :))))))"

False equivalency. CRTs are in no way "anti-aliasing" for old games. They're Vaseline.

That was an opinion video, he basically said that he likes it better because of muh warmness and muh feel

If I was mark I would ban you for a month so you have time to think about the stupid things you are saying.

Not an argument

Kill yourself
>>>Holla Forums

Yeah okay, pal.

this is true

user its time for you to stop

Jaggies hurt my eyes too user

I'm not the one that playing SNES game on LCD monitor

Did you see the video? the text are jaggies as hell

It's time for you to get over your fetish for Vaseline.

What does politic has to do with this?

No, you're the one posting a shitty variant of the laughing Tom Cruise image with r/pcmasterrace's mascot. You definitely need to go back.

Another strawman from the desperate CRT kiddie.

All of Square's modern 3D remakes of older 2D RPGs have been horrible disasters, just take a look at Final Fantasy 3, 4 and 6 on steam and tell me if you want to play that shit over just playing the original classic on an emulator.

especially look at what they did to Final Fantasy 9, my god how hideous.

I see, consolefag. Okay, keep playing with your emulator and jaggies pixels

4 on Steam is better than emulating the DS version for its higher framerate battles alone. Fuck 15fps. I don't give a rat's ass about muh UI.

Not going for the low-hanging fruit this time.

The original SNES game is better than that low poly mess

remake of Secret of Evermore with original script when?

...

Nothing, Holla Forums is just really butthurt that they got raided by bronies and we laughed at them, so they're false flagging as Holla Forums. See

Okay just checked, both 5 and 6 still look like ass and are worse than the original SNES releases.

My point was always that it was better. Your "point" was that you didn't play it because you got bored. If you can even call that a point. If you're going to backpedal and say that your original post wasn't about calling the game bad then you might as well have not even replied since that's essentially all I was saying. You're basically saying you liked the game less because of indescribable reasons. Which is less than a statement and more of a remark that makes no sense. Grats I guess.

Mentioning either Holla Forums or Holla Forums is useless since either board can pin them as a boogyman. At this point I'm convinced that whoever brings either up is just bored and wants to shitpost.

The JP version? Eh, not in my opinion. It's certainly harder than the US release, but it still doesn't compere to IV DS.

Aesthetically I never found its sprite work to be anything special either and the 3D in-game cutscenes of the remake pack a much bigger punch when delivering the story.

As long as there are no faggots, niggers, or immodest women, it's fine by me.

user the DS game looks like SHIT on anything bigger than the DS

Better and more appealing dont always cross paths, yes. I didnt say they were mutually exclusive, that's you.
Your point wasnt initially arguing it was better. It was asking why "autists" still talked about that game while simultaneously sperging about the other one. The post is right to see, no point in denying it.
Anyway, my point is that it is more appealing. To me and to the majority. All I get from your posts is that you don't like that, well tough luck. I can't help you there.

There is nothing else to take away from your posts outside that you have an interest in it on a level that has nothing to do with how good the game is or isn't.
No you said Evermore sucked ass. Read your own posts. And I pointed out why Mana was factually worse. If your point was to prove that you're wearing rose tinted glasses then grats. You proved it. If your reply to me pointing out that mana was a bad game was "people like mana" then yes I'de call your post pointless. You can keep pushing that though.

Nothing I said even came close to the idea of that statement. I like the game because it is appealing yeah, that sometimess means its good but not always.

Yeah. It doesn't have appealing characters, setting or music and for some reason I quit playing it years ago even though I generally had patience for RPGs. Make the most interesting combat system ever and don't bother texturing the polygons or putting music, we'll see how that game sells. Better mechanics aren't everything, even less so if the changes aren't even that big
You also bitched about it being grindy even though I almost didn't grind and other posts ITT agree.
Either way it wasn't even the point.
Yet no one has rose tinted glasses over Evermore. Do you want to argue why that is or are you gonna keep bitching about how it is a superior game yet nobody liked it?

Who said anything about sales? I called it a worse game. Not a less profitable one.
Calling bullshit. You HAVE to grind in Mana to advance in certain portions otherwise you're stuck whittling down the enemies HP while you take a single hit kill on each character. It's a poorly paced RPG. Evermore suffers much less from that.
Those posts are retarded? Again at appealing to others for validation despite being wrong.
Almost like their not needed for being a better game.
The fuck are you even saying at this point? You said it yourself, Mana had a larger budget for advertising and Evermore had the stigma of being a rip off despite being better. I'll say people like it as well and unlike Mana it's a well made game in comparison. But you're still denying it by moving goalposts when you haven't even played Evermore past the first level. At this point I've pretty much made my point and you've helped me prove it. Mana's a worse game by every standard and unless you actually start bringing up reasons as to why it isn't aside from the money it made you're pretty much sol. I'll add though that ASSFAGGOTS trash makes a shitload of money. You want to defend that to?

Absolutely false. I've done no-armor runs of SoM and no offensive magic runs. The only thing that's going to single hit kill you, even in those extreme situations, are certain spells from bosses when companions are already dead or pure land enemies.

Grinding weapons only gives you new weapon techniques which usually aren't that helpful against bosses, usually you won't need to use beyond level 1-2. Your weapon hitting power is completely independent of your weapon experience level.

Grinding magic only lets you magic spam enemies to death, that you can easily whack to death anyway. Every boss in the game can be defeated without the use of offensive spells.

So what do you need to grind, really? Money? You can safely skip shops and be fine, the game is easy between spikey tiger and pure land. Experience? Why? You certainly don't need it. I really don't understand why you have this illusion that you need to grind unless you have some OCD issue that requires you to see full numbers on your level screen.

Don't really see what people see in this game. The story was never really engaging for me and the I can't bring myself to care for any of the characters. The combat is pretty mediocre and was handled much better in SD3 though that game still shares some problems from this game and are improved upon in LoM.

For melee combat, you attack and wait until you are at 100% again to attack so you simply running back and fourth constantly to attack enemies and fuck you if the enemy is highly evasive. Later on you can charge your attacks for some neat animations and big damage but there isn't any reason to use any tier lower once you get the next tier of attack because every tier doesn't have a unique function like pulling in enemies, a good space closing attack, an attack that is great for stun locking, etc. It's just a big damage close range attack (or ranged if you used bow, whip, or boomerang). Magic isn't fun either because most of the offensive ones are autolock attacks that you can spam over and over for 999 damage and the enemy can't do shit about it. The game also doesn't give you any way to avoid a ton of the attacks/spells enemies throw at you too so cure will become your best friend or throwing a healing item on someone every time they get hit with a spell. And if you want to use items or switch weapons, you're going to have to go through the menu too. It's as if they wanted to make an Action RPG but didn't have any idea how to go about it.

At least the graphics and soundtrack were great but that's expected of Squaresoft. Something like this is the last thing I expected to hear in a game like this.

What the fuck in the game won't fucking wreck you without armor at later segments? At that extent it's pretty much absurd. But if it's possible I suppose there's people who make an attempt on it. In any case I'm speaking for the average playthrough. And even assuming you can heal up with items or spells you'de still have to grind to some extent in order to use said spells effectively.

You need to grind for the game to be shorter I suppose. Magic only does so much damage at its lowest level and the same with weapons. If you found a way to bypass it great. But it's an RPG. There's no way you can beat the game with low level everything unless you're good at slowly bringing down their HP for an hour. Post a video on this though. I'de like to see somebody beat the game in less than 4-7 hours without using some sort of exploit with low level armor/weapons. I'm not saying its impossible, but there's absolutely grinding required in that game on a first playthrough. Especially without any hints or walkthroughs.

They'll probably get rid of the level up system on magic and weapons, too

holy shit the hype
why? why see this makes me so hyped?

The wall boss is gonna be a literal wall for casuals

We're on a board were people think 4k is a meme.

Although a expat Burger friend explained this to me: Americans want everything big and 60 inch plus 4k TVs are still pricey.

Wasn't Evermore one of those attempts to make an American JRPG? I hate those.

It was one of the few times where they actually did a good job.

Evermore was kind of rad, actually. The alchemy system was deeper than the magic in Mana and even though you only had the dog companion(and thus no multiplayer) his changing forms and ability to find stuff was always cool. The whole B-movie aspect gave it a really unique style, too.

It's quite different from other rpgs and it doesn't try to be a Secret of Mana or a jrpg, but I really like it.

Is Hasbro out sourcing to Trigger now?

nigga… look at the date when this was developed, only thing close to an action rpg at the time was legend of zelda, and that is arguably not even rpg

...

...

That nigga's been separating the wheat from the chaff for over two decades. Game pretty much turns into easymodo after him.

Sony probably paid good money to keep it console exclusive to them. At least there's going to be a PC version, but the Switch (or at least the 3DS) really should get it too.

It's not even arguable. It's simply not a RPG unless you consider God of War a RPG. It's all action based and nothing you do relies on stats or RNG. Anyways you're right about not many games doing it at the time. Tales of Phantasia came out 3 years later and Star Ocean came out 4 years after SoM. I just feel like it could have been a much better game if they went full action or turn based. Though it did make the foundation for better games down the series. I still think Sword of Mana is my favorite game in the series followed by SD3.

>Not replacing them with better weapons because they stop being useful after awhile and all the other weapons had better range.
Clearly I was the only one who played the game correctly.
It occurs to me that she couldn't possibly have been an elf.

Please no… Especially not by (((modern))) square. The first one was perfect as is. Just leave good things to rest in peace. Although I do appreciate finally getting to see that tree in full, even though it doesn't look all that great. Fuck his mom's trunk is fat.

I called my adopted fairy kid Pio. I immersed myself a bit too much in that game. I still remember the imaginary look on his face when we fought together one last time against the Mana Beast. He sacrificed it all for me and my elf bae. Snotty little pink-haired brat…

Wait The fairy sprite goes too? I thought Popoi just turned into a normal, what ever the fuck Popoi was. The ending shot…

I loved the gloves, but they were so fucking useless. Can't really do much with a fist weapon in a game where you can't combo

Now you know…

user I did use fist. Or at least tried to. But late game says fuck fists and use the sword.

...

All I'm saying is that no elf would ever risk getting dirt on their prissy hands.

Secret of Evermore was a way better game with great pacing, gameplay and atmosphere (it was kinda fun looking for ingredients and you didn't even need to).
