MonColle Franchises

Anyone have any other favorite "moncolle" games besides Pokémon or Digimon? There's the Monster Rancher games, Jade Cocoon, and even Telefang. I personally would like to see some attention given to the old Fighting Foodons/Bistro Recipe series that was short-lived. Only game(s) I know of were on the original WonderSwan.

Also, do you think MegaMan Battle Network and Monster Hunter fits in this category?

There's also the Robopon series, but it was short-lived and didn't gain much steam. It was a goofier Medabots that tried to also be a Pokémon killer.

You're the /mon/ user aren't you?

Sure, I guess. Figured I take that one user's advice and try to test the waters for a thread like this.

Apparently there's some sort of computer virus themed monster collector for Gameboy, I forget its name though

I sort of remember that, couldn't you scan barcodes or something to generate them?

That actually sounds neat. Would like to know more.

Does it jog your memory that I found that Metal Walker was actually an /m/ virtual pet?

No, that's Skannerz, and was it's own devices. Robopon is where you mixed batteries to get a different Robopon.

SMT lets you recruit/summon monsters and build a compendium but you can't keep a collection.

Not sure if this counts, but the first Doodle Kingdom game had you draw monsters and battle them. Their stats and moves depended on what colors and parts you drew respectively. Also it had nice music.

Oh yeah, Magic Pengel and Graffiti Kingdom, right? I used to be good at the first, predicting the rock/paper/scissors moves, but I lost interest someways through.

It's a really short game, so I wonder how far you got. Even though the combat was simple, the requirement for the player to predict the enemy made it fun and made the longer battles near the end even more difficult.
I thought the second game was more boring, but it did have more drawing options and some good cutscene moments.

I've been playing the Dragon quest monster joker game lately. Its pretty neat that you can fuse movesets onto monsters.

Remember that one time you were sitting there and having fun with some loli, a whiny faggot, and some weirdo kid and then shit got rally heavy and started questioning the nature of life and shit and then shit about god comes and and then a loli get shot?
This fucking game man, my sister showed it to us after getting it from a fleamartket.
Never played the second game.

I'm looking, I'm going to find it. I remember seeing a website about this game around a year ago. I believe it may be unlicensed.

Those digimon virtual pets were the best thing ever when I was a kid, that device reminds me of them.

I take it everyone else is ok with this?

It's short for monster collector, autismo

Can't have anough sub-sub-sub genres eh?

Im confused, what is he bitching about?

Don't pay attention to him, probably can't handle the idea of a subgenre being popular at one point.

I mean SMT is now moncolle too right?
Hell, why not call Fire Emblem peopcolle as well? You're collecting people after all.

It pretty accurately describes a certain subset of games, I'm not sure what your issue is

It's a common thing of collectible creatures that you battle together. I can understand your argument, but it only pertains to monsters/robots.

Oh now we have robcolle too? Amazing.
What about spellcolle games? Which one is your favourite?

My favorite is a spell to make shitposting go away.

Second game is a lot more lighthearted. And also a completely different game.
Same studio made LostMagic, I think, which also featured a cameo of the loli, the whiny faggot, and boxdog. Also, I guess LostMagic would be considered a monster collecting game since you capture monsters and control them as troops.

Which one is it?

Kinda wish they went in more with the first one. I would have liked to seen the rest of the world. I had actually been thinking about doing a play through with Holla Forums because its a good game for that. Shortish, fun, and plenty of room for shitty memes.

Yeah, I also intend to replay it, but in nip after I get good enough.

Okay after a lot of searching I found it, check this wiki out. Apparently the devs did other monster games including a series called Telefang that was hacked to look like a Pokemon game.

Its the little things

Is there an undub?

I don't think the game had a large enough following to get one.

Monster Rancher is my fucking shit. I'm hoping they bring it back as an actual video game and not some mobile cash crab shit. I'd love to have a huge Monster Rancher game on PC with a shitton of content that I could play with you fucks. Hell PC would be fun just because I could sit on my ass and install it on my computer and play it but I wouldn't mind buying a new system just for a Monster Rancher game. I love MR.

Monster Hunter Stories is more of a monster collecting game than the main games where the only thing like that is the felyne companions.
I haven't played Stories much, but I intend to after I finish Yo-kai Watch 3.

can't you just say "monster collecting" you fucking failed weeb

moncolle

some user once posted a pokemon like game but with superheros called "Zok Zok heroes" for the gbc

...

I miss Jade Cocoon. I used to play the shit out of it, trying to make myself a dragon.

The issue this genre has is Pokémon’s Monopoly over it, that is problem that Pokémon faces too since it is too big to fail and GF no longer needs or wants to put effort into it. Don't get me wrong, I love Pokémon but damn it needs some competition. Digimon has changed its Target Demography as of late so it is not in direct competition with Pokémon anymore. I really enjoyed the Monster Rancher games but I was never a fan of your niggas dying of old age. SMT is bretty gud too, at least it was pre SMTIV

World of Final Fantasy is a fun monster collecting game. "Moncolle" is a really stupid name, though. It's about as bad as Metroidvania.

Yeah, Smilesoft did a lot. Shame, because I actually like their games. Telefang 1 is a neat twist on monster collecting/summoning and Bugsite is MMBN/Matrix style monster collecting. Both are just different enough from pokemon to make me interested.

They also made Dino Device which is like Battleship but with gatchapon obtained monsters. The second one was made by people who either did or really want to emulate MMBN and it's a build your own mon out of parts.

Pick one, newfag.

I blame KanColle but if the shoe fits, I'm okay with it.

I think his point is that "moncolle" sounds retarded. I don't know if that's what the japanese call them, but we usually call them "pokemon clones" because that's what the majority of them are.

That loli is really cute. I searched Pixiv and sadly wasn't able to find any good porn of her. I did find some neat creations within the game though.

SMT3

I wish we could somehow share these creations over the internet.

Can't you send save files over the internet of creations? Used to be able to do that with GameFAQs or something.

How do you pronounce MonColle?

Maun Coal

mahn collé

For a second I thought this was some sort of gijinka Pokemon thread and was about to fap

casual

i'd pound that icy ass until it cant think of anything but my dick.

Yeah, those are all from the second game which had really great character drawing tools, but the actual game itself was a pretty standard action game.

But is that a male or female (male)?

does it matter?

but would you take care of an injured Glaceon?

i've seen everything already, im not phased by anything anymore, but that is still pretty fucking awful

I'd call you a newfag, but it was a pretty obscure phase on halfchan way, way back when.

i dont care what kinda phase it was, its just gross

I had a retarded idea for a game in the mon-genre (moncolle is a retarded name). So we've had games like SMT, Monster Rancher, and DQM that are about either combining monsters or otherwise combining their qualities. But to my recollection there hasn't been a game where the monsters have a "job system" of sorts. Let's compare it to Pokemon as a baseline. How you develop a Pokemon after it's been caught/bred is entirely based off of what Pokemon you fight due to the EV system. Pokemon also have the same level up moves in the same order on any given species. Instead, a job system would allow stat gains, new moves, and even possibly a type change to be inherited on level up based on the "job" (likely the metaphorical/metaphysical heart of another monster). While this might be unbalanced in some ways, who the fuck cares, Pokemon isn't balanced and there's an official and unofficial format that generally works. Add some cute/cool/ugly designs, and maybe the ability to date your monster for those sweet degenerate bucks and you've got yourself a hit.

The loli is not for sexual

Nigga, I just want a game where the interaction level of monster rancher 2 it taken further. In that game you could have shit like mudball fights and what not.
I want to see this shit come back. Weren't the we shall wake devs doing some monster game?

wasn't there a cartoon named "Moncolle Knights" with an assorted trading card game?

I think the mon-genre can be divided into two sub-genres, monster raising games and monster collecting games. Monster raising games are like Monster Rancher or Digimon World, basically V-pets but with a lot more mechanics and content. Monster collecting games are basically Pokemon clones, like Yo-Kai Watch, SMT (yes I know SMT was first), and basically every single mon-genre game on the GBC.

I don't understand.

Show me how

please go to >>>/mon/

I'm not 100% sure but there are saves on GameFAQs for this game that should be able to be used with myMC to import them to your memory card or export them from your memory card. You should be able to play like normal on PCSX2, create everything, export and upload somewhere.

Not the mainline, but Monster Hunter Stories definitely does

Okay, are you the new owner?

For sexual the loli is not.

What is its name Holla Forums?

I actually had a physical cart of jade as a kid.
It was shit

No, but I wish I was. And if you've been here before; not yet.
