The thing is, in the second RE movie Jill does this one leg sweep move and you can see her poontang for a brief moment. I think she's wearing a thong but it's not really covering much.

Why isn't there a HUNK game in the vein of RE4, but divided into smaller missions inbetween which you can use your blood money to purchase and upgrade your equipment?

5 is, by all accounts, 4 but worse. No briefcase system, just plain less fun design, worse QTEs, it's just a bit of a mess overall, but I did like it better than what I've seen of 6 so far.

It depends on what you like. RE4 has universal appeal, but if you like B-horror themes, plot lines and acting with a story that still manages to take itself seriously then you will like the earlier installments. Besides the superficial things, the gameplay is actually really brilliant despite any reservations you might have for tank controls (I love them so that doesn't affect me).

The campaigns are all designed for multiple playthroughs so there's always something new to see when replaying. Route optimization and remembering where important healing items and ammo are when you need them will cut your second playthrough down by entire hours. Soon enough you'll find you can beat the game easily in one sitting, then the real game starts.
Extra difficulty modes, arranged modes, Battle modes, Mercenaries modes, etc., etc. By the time you can say you've truly completed a resident evil game you'll have access to what is essentially multiple games in one.

My personal favorite part is how noticeably your skills increase with each play through, as mentioned earlier. As an example, my first run of RE1 as Chris had a time of around 7 hours 49 minutes. My second run as Chris dropped dramatically to around 4 hours 30 minutes. By the third run I easily unlocked the infinite rocket launcher with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes.
Once you know the game well enough, breezing through the game with sub 2 hour times becomes the norm, almost effortless. It's at that point that Resident Evil games actually achieve "comfy" status. They become a game I'll boot up on my Vita to kill an hour or so, giving them near eternal replay value. I'm done sperging now.

tl;dr
If you like B-horror, unlockables, replay value and don't hate tank controls, you might just love em.

The story is pants on head retarded regardless of installment so you might as well pick whichever game strikes your fancy.

If you're really autistic start with the first Resident Evil game. If the graphics turn you off then pick the Remake, followed by 2,3 and Code Veronica. Zero is considered to be the most difficult of the games featuring "classical" gameplay. On the other hand Resident Evil 4 changes the formula substantially, it's not really horror anymore, survival action with a good feel for building tension is a better way to describe it, and it is a superb game. RE5 and 6 are of dubious quality due to many, many poorly thought out design decisions so play those last.

The rest of the games are hit and miss. I liked Revelations 1 and 2 well enough, but tastes vary.

If you can handle PSX graphics and like B-movie voice acting, I'd say 1 is a real treat. Then try REmake to revisit the mansion in a whole new way with upgraded 2002 graphics which still look pretty damn good today (but, unfortunately, less memorable voice acting). Deadly Silence is a slightly expanded version of RE1, I'd look at as a complementary experience.

For me, as far as the main series goes, it's RE1 = REmake > RE4 > RE3 > RE:CVX > RE2 > RE:0 > RE5 > RE7. I believe Nemesis ate all copies of RE6 to fuel his hatred for S.T.A.R.S.

Arguably the best version, given the fact that there is a mod to make it truly uncut, and add in the colour opening, Chris smoking and decapitations. Other than that, it's just RE1 in higher quality.

Alone in The Dark is the best survival horror game ever made. Revolutionary graphics, complex 3D combat for it's era and is still more complex than RE, really memorable level design, non sequitur puzzles that may be skipped sometimes, and great lore. I love how all the puzzles have a lore behind them instead of just unrelated riddles like in most survival horrors, like RE series.

I don't really like the atmosphere. At least RE4 had better combat. RE1 has the best atmosphere hands down, and best zombie design.

The only things I'd say were better were the use of Kendo and some of the enemy designs. Other than that, RE2 is just better. It gave me my first boner looking at the model of Sherry.
I'd like to see elements from RE1.5 implemented, like Elza and expanded characters in Kendo and Marvin (maybe even make them the Barry and Rebecca of the game, where certain decisions can kill them). I'd also like the to see the EX Files put back in, and add in some new files, maybe a radio transmission from Nicholai or Carlos in the STARS office, and show the broken window Nemesis jumps through.

The level design is better in 1.5 mainly, the police station is actually a police station, isn't full of ridiculous fucking puzzles and the umbrella laboratory's entrance isn't in a ridiculous place either The zombies look better and take more damage, Birkin is better, the weapon roster is better. Damage is displayed on the character model, zombies are more likely to get their torso gibbed by the shotgun, etc.

The whole of RE is one big, dumb story. And it's not like there's not enough material there to make it engaging. The biggest problems is that Umbrella are a bunch of mustache twirling villains that only seem to be concerned about developing bioweapons for whatever insane reason. It's not like the US or other big countries are lining up to buy any of that shit, so why the fuck are they so fanatical about making new and more gruesome viral abomination? Wesker and Ada's motives are never explained and the rest of the cast doesn't seem to have any meaningful human interactions with each other inbetween games. They behave worse than characters from a shonen manga and might as well be gelded for all the interest they display towards the opposite gender.

I'll let it slide given RE4 is a side story, and a damn fine game even if it isn't for the RE purists.

Though, in the films, Umbrella's overall reason for starting the outbreak was to "Cleanse the Earth" of the poison that is humanity.
