Dream Game thread
Kind of paint-by-numbers. I'd have to wait for other Holla Forums posters to talk favorably about it before I decide to get it.
First one is dumb, shallow fun, and probably not welcome at this moment when the market is oversaturated with zombie games.
Second one is only there because I think Bloodborne-like game set in a large modern city just after it was ruined (so not long enough for vegetation to take over; perhaps six months after the event), with people scrambling to survive against something that corrupts both humans and technology.
I had a hard time figuring the tone for this one; both Bloodborne and Souls are far too calm. Bloodborne might be closer, but neither of them take place right after a major event, so you don't witness the struggle for survival that comes after.
Devil Survivor fit the "major event, shut down of utilities and services, scrambling for survival" but still not in the exact same vein I was thinking of since everything takes place during the first 7 days after the shutdown. It's the closest though.
Any game inspired by that would really be something.
hey ross
I wish we had a game that combined Sim City 4 with Civilization.
It would be nice to really build your cities & nation over thousands of years.
It would also combine the universalis,Vic, and HOI 3:the black ice mod to flesh out the technology and historical events.
I like the HOI3: Black ice mod because it added units like rail guns, SS miltia, and other units. I hate how generic the civilization series is when it comes to researching technology.
Like it would be interesting if you could negotiate banning Aircraft Carriers between nations.
———————–
A proper x4 game that uses the space engine to generate planets/systems, has the ability to host players on servers like what we have with that Morrowind Holla Forumsserver.
...
Combine DOOM and Hotline Miami. That's pretty much it.
Mine would have this problem as well, wouldn't the cartoon/light hearted tone of crash ruin the atmosphere of silent hill, i guess that depends on how far the setting wouldn't be in Silent Hiill 2, but at the same time there are cartoon games with dark settings, like the whispered word.
You make me want to re-do mine now.
You're probably already played it and seen how boring it is, but onechanbra? Either way it won't be as good as what you're hoping for.
And I'm gonna make it one day too, god dammit.
Why are your influences so dull, Holla Forums?
My dream game was already made. Shame it's dead.
That looks fucking sweet, there really needs to be more westerns.
Not my dream games, but I like coming up with little experimental mashup concepts that fit this format pretty well
...
Just to give more insight on the setting.
The gameplay goes something like this.
Sooo, what are your thoughts on this type of gameplay?
I'd like the player to adapt to the game, not the other way around, that's why there are no permanent stat increases.
I'd also like more focus on knife play, depending on what part of the opponent's body you slice / stab dictates the amount of blood that will spurt to replenish your stamina.
Something like this, except have skills based off Morrowind. The grinding wouldn't be instantly gratifying either. That way I could spend months training a certain skill with entire subcategories for months my own way and have something to show for the time I put into using a weapon or ability, rather than play a few hours and have the same effectiveness wit as someone who uses it more.
Also enough detail is paid attention to so that every small event can lead into a larger adventure. For example searching dead space station leads to finding a freighter ship you replace your old ship with. Forgetting to inspect the ship completely your fuel injectors blow up entering a planet's orbit, now stranded somewhere unknown making you rely on skills such as stripping other abandoned ships for parts as a mechanic would, or using computer skills to help repair the damage yourself without needing to go out and strip stuff. You could probably also sell it to a player (if it's multiplayer) foolish enough to buy a deathtrap and make off with a tidy profit so you can live another day from the constant threat of necromorphic alien infections, player lead companies/teams, or various militaries you can influence based on the actions you take if it's singleplayer.
I like this idea, as long as there's no crafting elements.
I rarely like crafting systems myself, so no.
Yours looks like a good combination, but what's the setting?
Just the present day, but train racing is a sport and also aliens invaded earth a while ago so there's technology that can make a train drift and jump.
Western game with open ended world, good gunplay, RPG progression, and really bleak tone, that's what I want. Plus, I don't want generic western soundtrack, it needs some diversity.
...
I just want to ideas guy for a second
I want something made with the silent hill 2 engine where you play as a shambling murderer that goes from town to town skulking around and stabbing people. You play as a character that looks like The Hanged Man from Jojo part 3 and all of your movements are jittery like you're the villain of a horror game.
...
I believe this would sell like hotcakes, I know I'd buy it
You.
You my nigga.
I may have some good news for you. can't wait for it to be actually finished so I can start playing
I need this to be a game now….
Stop lighting shit on fire faggot.
Make me, faget.
Gameplay of ArcheAge
Plot & Soundtrack of World of Warcraft
Remove p2w model
There you have it, the best MMO ever made.
I dunno any other better way to express Shadow the Hedgehog 2 where Shadow becomes a space/futuristic gangster.
Even if someone in the industry decided to make this it'd be ruined because of how fucking stupid videogame writers are, I don't think there's any living VA that can hold a candle to Leslie's timing and how mind-blowingly deep in the shitter comedy in general is nowadays.
Lewd!
a prequel/sequel to beat down taking place in the neon-lit streets neo-tokyo in 1988. you are double-crossed by your uncle in the mafia and you must take him down. the core gameplay of beat down is fused with yakuza and/or tekken to create a seamless open-world brawler with plenty of side activities to explore. a higher emphasis on a cohesive story paired with more developed main and side characters means a more engaging plot with a ton of replayability, and a synthwave/retrowave soundtrack through the whole thing you can tune to your liking via saints row 2 cd-shop.
Isnt the whole thing about cosmic terror is that the MC goes crazy? Or your MC is oblivious, doesnt quiet get it, while everybody brains melts away, he arrest Cthulhu?
A few come to mind.
I imagine the cosmic horror elements would be seriously downplayed or played for laughs. Imagine that scene on the pic, picking intimidate and Frank going "There's no way out Mister Dagon, we have you surrounded!"
...
A boxing game with the gameplay of God Hand/Yakuza in terms of combat, set in a dystopian future like in Deus Ex, the outer plot being centered around transhumanism like in Deus Ex, Metal Gear Rising, and Binary Domain but the main plot being about a man trying to prove that he can still compete despite his profession changing with the times. The tone will be B movie like Binary Domain. With the soundtrack of Anarchy Reigns/Metal Gear Rising in style.
I want path of exile but made by Crate instead of ggg. Same everything, but made by competent developers.
...
As if gameplay Hotline Miami with doom theme or the other way?
There's a bunch of wads of that nature.
I think I saw a webm of one in the last webm thread.
You do understand how these two themes conflict right? No one is fighting Lovecraftian monsters and if someone did it would be a whole other type of fiction.
-t. writingfag
mah nigga, we really need more star control
Who said about fighting Lovecraftian monsters?
Lovecraftian creatures would be the scary background details. At best the hunters would fight some scary mutated stuff but never would be able to get to the actual Eldritch abominations behind it.
The monsters that they would fight would be generally stuff like Werewolves and mutated beasts etc.
Fair enough then. In that case you may want to check out Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones if it gets released.
So you were just a kid playing a simulation made by an AI?
Looks extremely interesting, thanks user.
Lately I've been dreaming of a Souls-like game in a 1990's beat'em-up setting (Final Fight, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage). Preferably something that wouldn't take itself seriously. Souls-like Streets of Fury would be perfect.
Souls-like gameplay and 90's beat'em up setting are such an obvious fit in my opinion, I'm surprised no dev even announced some project of this sort.
...
Remove yourself
Quicker than I expected. Not trying to bait but I knew that post would trigger a few anons.
I don't know what else I would call it, other than "Souls-like". It's like when every FPS game was defined as a "Doom clone".
Doesn't matter. Leave with your joke opinion.
Alternatively
what does that actually mean anymore?
I'm serious, what does it mean now? High difficulty, high pressure, but requires slow exploration to not fucking die and cry "TRIAL AND ERROR DESIGN WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW", medieval and edgy?
There is a 2D side-scroller that I think is also some sort of a Metroid-like game with christian/biblical theme.
Has a big baby tearing your protagonist in half, can't remember what it's called.
...
I know it's very possible to make as well. I'm currently making a different sort of fantasy game with ZDoom decorate and the slade level editor.
...
So basically Infamous?
what a shitty template. setting/plot/tone are pretty much all the same thing. and soundtrack is minimal. basically look at the first frame "gameplay of" and thats that user's dream game. the other 2 things are irrelevant.
my dream game's gameplay has yet to be made.
You're a fucking retard holy shit.
i said "pretty much" meaning they're similar you illiterate retard.
Essentially if Illusion's Make Me Lover had more budget or CM3D2's joke RPG modes were fleshed out
Just imagine it. Rocketing around at high speed in three dimensions, maneuvering around obstacles in space, shooting opponents with a wide variety of crazy sci-fi weapons. A weight-based equipment system lets you trade mobility for more weapons, gadgets, and armor.
If you've played at least one Souls game and some derivative like LotF for at least an hour, I'm sure you know exactly what it means, but I'll bite:
never ever
...
also
I'm just thinking of flight mechanics specifically. I don't know of any other good comparisons. Elite Dangerous?
What do you think?
It's F-Zero but at points Captain Falcon will go bounty hunting and then it turns into God/Falcon Hand.
I just want a Captain Falcon Beat-em-up
maybe design it like that one racing game where you jump out of the car to do shitty QTEs but instead make it so you get out of the car for combat and it's a smooth transition between types of gameplay
That would mean that the game would have to be at least partially open world so that you could use car to move to different areas.
never ever
whats the closest i'll get to this
It's Touhou. Someone's bound to make a game like that eventually.
dubs of delicious games I now require in my life
Not necessarily. You could have driving segments between beat-em-up segments. You could even have larger beat-em-up areas where you can choose to drive around, kind of like that one shitty game, what was it called? Damnation? Except executed well somehow.
Is there even a single Anime styled Stealth game?
yea, theres a rape centered h-game where you follow anime girls down dark alleys and rape them.
What game is that?
Basically Motorstorm on other planets
...
Spintire on other planets but shit goes down when they realize you're not alone and that some huge god-like alien deity gets mad at you for mining here, craft your way out of this planet
Aphex Twin's - Selected Ambient Works 89 - 92
Horsepower Productions - In Fine Style
The soundtrack of Oblivion (the 2013 movie not the game)
Air - 10000 Hz Legend
So basically a pumped up Death Race 2000 game?
So it's basically Call of Cthulhu: DCotE starring Karl Pilkington?
...
Not sure if the pic speaks for itself, so to clarify:
Patrician taste, all of you.
I didnt even need to see the rest of it to want this to be a real thing.
This looks good. What is the catch?
Which is basically Carmageddon.
Early access and it looks kinda shallow from what I've seen of it. Don't know anything about the devs either, so I'll just wait until it's released, then see if I like it.
My dream game is a single block simulation but 1) you can't make that from mashups of other games like some retarded idea guy and 2) there is no way to meme an image of it. Fuck I hate you retarded fucks who think mashing two games together is a new game when there are actual gaming ideals to reach for and you're ignoring them because "MUH THINGS I PLAYED BEFORE!"
So in your block simulation do you have a job or is it more of a "you just live there" type experience in the same sense as Animal Crossing?
In the single block simulation you could take a job at any of the shops in the single block. The Single Block Simulation is an old computing term from the 80's or maybe 90's that means an entire block completely interactive 100% in every way. Talk to any person, mess with any item, do anything and always get a realistic and detailed reaction, including being able to do all the little mundane things.
...
Sorry I hurt your feelings idea guy cuck but maybe you faggots should actually try reaching for a real programming feat instead of just being a lazy mashup faggot. Mind you I'm sure 90's of the faggots here are just waiting around for someone to make their dream game.
Mad as fuck
ideal game
could play for days
...
Dragon's Dogma character creation with ARMA gunplay (but with +1s) and STALKER setting.
-player agency of Deus Ex
-visceral combat of Doom, RE4, and Devil May Cry
-Large and desolate, but believable world of New Vegas and Morrowind
-robot/cyborg stuff and cityscapes of Mega Man X
-transition from normal to post-apocalyptic world from Final Fantasy VI
-atmosphere and variety of Metroid Prime (should have put the whole trilogy, honestly)
-dark subject matter from Spec-Ops: The Line and Silent Hill 2
-high stakes from Fallout 1
-detailed, thought-provoking writing from MGS2 and Soul Reaver
-AI and cyborg threats from System Shock (and MGS2 to some degree)
-self-explanatory, with a melancholy, but intense soundscape
Rimworld didn't cut it for me. Multiplayer space game with a shitton of micromanagement.
also staring the birds from riders
...
i liked jet
Aw, man, my ex would have loved that game.
I know this is a joke but good god.
Only that faggots like you are causing the downfall of the games industry.
...
I don't know if it'd work but basically a "metroidvania" based on at the mountains of madness, with creepy music, hard bosses, puzzles and ominous scenery
You're the one who got mad at other people for not coming up with non-derivative ideas and then said it wasn't about that when called out on your own derivative idea
...
This one too. We need more porn games that are good games like Rance.
Might I recommend Marathon? uwu
...
So in your ideal world would the single block be a modern cityscape, a historical cityscape, or some kind of sci-fi or fantasy city?
Would it be based on an actual place or would it be a composite of whatever the designers think would be cool?
If it is based on a real place, where and when?
Would the block be part of a slum, a working-class area, or upper-class?
Would you have jobs that have requirements before they could be worked and if so, how would you achieve those without leaving your block?
...
As much as I like Ratatat, I don't think their laid-back stuff would fit here.
I'd suggest something from the dark synth, but not the overused stuff. Or something by The Glitch Mob (embed related).
No I'm not a nigger.
...
ah man this sounds dope as fuck
I really hope it's not a big piece of crap
something like this
A game where you're the head of a clandestine agency tasked with the creation, raising, training, and deployment of super soldiers. Primarily weaponized psychics
-real time gameplay like in Commandos or Shadow Tactics
-mission structure and soldier advancement like X-Com
-soldier permadeath like X-Com
-raise, train, and manage the soldiers from birth in a fashion in a similar fashion to The Sims
-you're raising loyal soldiers and spies, not mindless weapons, so they have to be well adjusted, functioning people
-soldiers who are not well adjusted and cared for can become unstable or treasonous
-different specialties for agents, such as mind reading, emotional/thought manipulation, telekinesis, the usual stuff
-the cold war from mid 60s to late 80s
-agency is based in America but missions take place all over the globe
-kind of a tired setting, I know, but it's the perfect for clandestine operations and shadow wars, so fuck it
-find, "recruit," and enhance people who already have superhuman abilities
-create new superhumans with MKUltra-esque human experimentation
-use of child soldiers
-pretty much any variety of rock, hard rock, prog rock, and metal from the 60s-80s
Forgot to include under gameplay various mission types like intel gathering, turning enemy agents, interrogation/torture, eliminating traitors/spies, assassinations, destruction of enemy weapons and assets (telekinetic tank smashing and shit), etc
Marathon's a great game. Not quite what I had in mind but definitely something up my alley.
You do know that would be fucking shit, right?
It looks alright. I'm hoping they release more footage showing some advanced abilities and whatnot, so I can see if it's more like Nioh or Devil May Cry rather than Souls or Bloodbourne.
what
a modern Altered Beast hack n slash
Doom and generally most good combat works because it's in an enclosed level which often times defies what is realistic. Would there really have been a great big warehouse with all the storage crates placed in such a way as to facilitate mazelike exploration on a government-contract scientific base on one of mars' moons?
Unrealistic mazes have nothing to do with good combat
Fighting games and beat em ups are all about combat and those take place on flat planes with varied window dressing
I know exactly who could do that well.
Someone give Platinum Games a phonecall.
