Is this game worth $5 or a pirate?

Is this game worth $5 or a pirate?

Did you like Resident Evil 4?

Would you like it worth worse shooting mechanics, barely-if-ever-working stealth mechanics, even less horror (replaced with torture porn), a completely nonsensical plot with no stakes whatsoever, and poorly written and unlikable characters?

If so then yeah it's probably worth $5, I guess.

Damn, is it that bad. Guess it's a pirate then, I want to get a feel for the first hour or so.

What do you think faggot?

no - in fact i think it's quite good - its just not resident evil 4 and you shouldn't expect it to be like that. you have to be careful with your resources, the game will still throw enemies at you after bossfights etc. and it will throw enemies at you just before a bossfight. if you used up all your resources like an idiot you have to reload your savefile. theres many mechanics that you are EXPECTED to use to your advantage, so i'm not surprised was frustrated after just treating the game like it's resident evil 4. the games areas are more like puzzles in that way, theres always traps and contraptions that you can use - also you have a crossbow that can shoot traps. its not really a third person shooter, or at least a much more methodical approach.
game is worth $5 - for me at least.

also i don't get how someone could say resident evil 4 has more horror. ridiculous.

I'm going to pirate it and see how it is, since there are two opposite views. It was $5 on G2A, have you ever used that site?

its certainly not for everyone, but if you like survival horror games: this feels a bit like a modern take on the genre. pirating first is always a good idea.
personally had zero problems so far, maybe just not buy from mexico joe that only sold three games in total or something.

Yeah wanted to get input from that site since I found it so cheap, then I saw a bunch of videos from Youcucks about how it's a "scam" and "hurting the industry" sounds to me like they are shilling for developers to extract more shekels from us. I saw Doom for $13 too. I think companies can sell games cheaper since they always go on sale at about almost the same price as G2A but keep it high to see if they can fool retards. It's hard to know when you are getting merchant'd which is why pirating is always a must.

I do think about supporting devs but these days you have to make sure you know where you money is going to.

it's worth a pirate, but it's fundamentally flawed in so many ways that i wouldn't pay for it under any circumstances. the intro is great and it has an awesome grindhouse horror vibe, play it at least for that, and the save room is comfy as fuck. aside from that the game's AI is shit, the story is boring and just kinda happens, the enemies are boring with one extremely notable exception two words: spider ghost, and there's a part at the end where they put you on some fucking bullshit ski lift thing that moves impossibly slowly while every enemy ever throws molotov cocktails and shoots rifles at you. i dropped it at that point myself, so in fairness maybe there's a part after that that is just fucking insanely incredible, but somehow i doubt it

let me put it this way OP: i can still remember the important plot points from the first xenosaga. i cannot for the life of me remember literally anything about the storyline of EW. pirate it for that first part and enjoy the atmosphere while you can but do not pay for it

also as that user above me said g2a is legit but make sure you only buy from sellers who have a decent history and have sold a lot of games. it's worth paying a dollar or two more for a game from a trusted seller

Yes it is, the art direction is gorgeous, the enemy design is quite good and the pacing is really well done. It kinda shits it's bed in the end though just like RE4

I played it, and just like RE5 and 6 the shooting felt off for whatever reason. It made me dislike it just as much as I disliked those games, especially when compared to the RE4 shooting that just feels right.

As for everything else, I think the game tries to be RE4 and ultimately fails. The stealth mechanics feel out of place and very primitive, the level design is uninspired and the plot really doesn't help when it starts throwing you everywhere with little warning, it gets extremely annoying and disorienting after a while.

The female cop is pretty hot though.

One of the DLCs (I forget which one) is much better then the main game.
It's more focused on horror and relies very little on action.

The game sucks and your standards are about as low as those of your father when he was looking for a female to mate with

Its basically Resident Evil 5

I can't believe the responses of how shit this game is, I'm actually regretting it and want to stop the download.

How can this fail when it's the same person who made 4? I don't understand.

the game is nothing like resident evil 4. how anyone could think copying that style of game was their goal, when the game mechanics and leveldesign clearly prove that assumption wrong from start to finish, is beyond me. thats like saying sonic tried to be mario, but failed. incredibly stupid.
In a way this reminds me of alien fans bashing prometheus, because they didn't get another alien movie.
I'm not really a fan of stealth mechanics in games where they don't belong either - but what does primitive mean here? Every stealth mechanic ever that is not in a stealth game is primitive, because that's not the goal of the game. They are just another mechanic for you to conserve ammo here (because the game is not resident evil 4) and on any higher difficulty it's impossible to play conservatively without stealth. So not sure what your point is here. They are a required mechanic for the game.

if you choose to fully take Holla Forumss opinions on games for granted without trying them out yourself, you are kinda stupid tbh

Absolutely. Go for it.

Let me put it to you this way.

If you thought silent hill 4 had a dumb story, you will definitely not like this game

nope
its fucking garbage. Just replay RE4

I played it, 100% keys and collectible it is what it is akumu mode, and I can say it's a C+ at best. Passes the time, but not that far above average. People compare it to RE4 because it literally reuses that game's assets. It tries too hard to theme each level after some kind of phobia and fails to be that scary, has too many enemy rushes, and can be buggy at times. The story is passable, but could have been better if they went with the angle that the MC was a mental patient the whole time trying to overcome inner demons, ala Alice, but whatevs, the delivery of the game matters less than the gameplay itself. I don't regret playing it, but I've learned it's easier to be pleasantly surprised when you expected nothing in the first place.

It's not BAD at all, it's just not very good. It's mediocre to the point much like most of AA/AAA releases these days. If you played REmake, it has the same approach to enemies that you need to burn them so they stay dead and not become reds, with limited resources at first. The first 4 hours are pretty great, but as a whole the game is stale and just sets up to a sequel even though it's nonsensical and the plot is shit anyway.

It has good scary moments, but with so many bullet sponge enemies and bosses in a game that wants to have you collect scarce resources and controls badly (and on PC forces you with black bars unless you fix the FOV and widescreen via another program) it's not really worth it.

Torrent it and play a few hours.

It's very good and people comparing it to RE4 are mentally retarded.

If you want to play RE4 then go and do that stop complaining about TEW, which is a completely different franchise with different focus.

Also I liked it more than RE4 so get fucked faggots

It's not even worth to pirate. Just ignore it and play something else.

This guy almost got it right, only that there's seriously low ammo cap (that's initially one full reload of your gun), and you use matches as a finish them off quicker, not because they comeback as stronger monsters. For example shooting them in the head with the pistol at first uses about three shots but if you shoot them in the leg while they're running, they trip and you can burn them with a match. Oh and if you manage to smash a bottle on a monster's face it you can do a one hit kill on it.

But yeah, don't buy it.

They patched it to remove the black bars and add 60 fps

That's a nicely crafted bait.

I compared it to RE4 because that's what it IS. I didn't go into it expecting RE4, I went into it expecting what I was told I would get: survival horror. But the game, at every facet, just apes gameplay elements from RE4. It's got the same shooting mechanics, though somehow it fails at feeling as polished. It shoehorns in a stealth mechanic that doesn't work consistently, leaving you frustrated. It has a stamina meter, but then for some reason completely ignores your stamina when you're in a chase sequence.

At the beginning the game gives you barely any ammunition and almost no room to store ammunition, which would be fine if (a) you weren't basically forced into combat and (b) enemies weren't easily killed without using any ammunition at all. Seriously, just toss a brick at a zombie and then set it on fire, and your problems are entirely over. RE4 gave you way too much ammunition, but at least you had a use for it. Early game in TEW you're better off just not using your goddamned guns because your other options are more lethal.

And the story is completely fucking asinine. It's got one of the worst endings (I swear to God whoever let the writers get away with "it was all a dream" need to be fucking shot), and past the halfway point the game just says, "Fuck continuity," and throws you from setpiece to setpiece with no connecting information whatsoever, because it's all a dream and it's all metaphorical and fuck you. None of the characters get any appreciable amount of fleshing out in the main game, they're all fucking boring, and good luck figuring out what the goddamned fuck the bad guy even wanted to do in the first place, or how the police captured him, or how you all got hooked up to the brain machine. Maybe that's in the DLC but, again, fuck you, that shit shouldn't be in DLC.

And about the horror…half of the game takes place in broad fucking daylight! None of the enemies are frightening, they instead try to disgust you with gore and still fail even there. I don't think I ever once felt any sort of apprehension during the entire game. How could I when I can just fucking shove an enemy over and set them on fire and howdy-doo?

And don't even get me started on the fucking upgrade system.

It looked like a shitty RE4 knockoff, and judging from the thread, I assume it is.

Also, its probably not even worth pirating because the file size is apparently 50GB+.

i liked it
joseph oda is cute

You forgot to mention the constant letterboxing you can't disable. Or did they patch in a way to disable it?

FitGirl managed to get the base game and all 4 DLCs down to 15.6 GB, so it's not that bad. It's probably just FMVs and uncompressed audio anyway.

How long of a game is it?

It's a fun game. Don't expect something scary though. Some parts really give you the feeling of going back to Resident Evil 4, but, of course, it's not the same. Some people might not like the story, but I thought it was silly, so that caught my interest. The time they put you with a partner controlled by the AI, the partner does an actual good job by himself, so that's a good point in my book.
A tip: Max physical damage first. Beating the shit out of the enemies is fun. I was rarely without ammo because I spent most of my time fighting instead of shooting.
During the boss fight against Ruvik's sister, I remember that I was messing with the gun menu and that fucked the game, so she never showed up and I just walked to the exit.

No, the whole point of the story is absolutely nothing fucking happens except just barely enough to make sequel bait

It's not worth five cents, let alone five bucks

Honestly its not a bad game and if you get it for cheap you won't be disappointed. However, the first 3 chapters of the game are very much not indicative of what the game will be like.

TEW is a weird game that is not sure what it wants to be and it spends a long time going back and forth. Once it finally figures out it wants to be RE4 the game goes from average to pretty good.

Has anons standards been so low that the big "Fuck You" from the devs/publishers is not insulting?

Not even worth the pirate. Reminder that this, like nuDoom and literally any other game that Bethesda MERELY PUBLISHES, was fucked with in development by them.

There are 8 bethesda related threads in the catalog at this moment.

And you have 8 responses exactly like this in 8 threads?
You know this is a video game board, not a publisher board, right?

Tell that to Bethesda shills.

G2A hurts devs more than pirating. Just pirate it dude.

If you have reading comprehension and even skimmed the threads, you'd know they're filled with people complaining how bethesda has ruined everything it touches.
Not that that encompasses the whole thread, quality does manage to seep through beth's claws every now and again.

Fuck off subhuman.
