Collector/Buyfag Thread

Post any recent hauls you purchased recently here. Also ask for advice on any purchases you see if you want a second opinion.
I'm interested in buying an OG Xbox and I found one on Kijiji yesterday with 9 games but no controllers going for $60. Should I buy or should I pass on the offer?

Thats not bad if the games all have the cases and booklets. Make sure they have the av and power cables as they will cost you another 10 bucks to buy online.

Depends. Are you a collectorfag like the youtube autists that dont play games? Or are you a collectorfag in the sense you like having a lot of games (pirated or not)? You can get an OG xbox with a controller for around $40, and modding it doesnt cost more than $10, giving you access to the complete library you're also making it region free

...

I just like having a lot of video games. Also last I checked, OG Xbox emulation still has a ways to go, so I don't see anything wrong with buying one.

You're either a shill, or a mustard, or both, I don't care, you gotta go.

You don't own shit.
If data on your disc gets damaged nobody will give you new one for free.
So yeah it's just plastic.

I still have a sealed copy of Xenogears and Snowboarding Kids i'm saving to open when I move to a new place.

this is some fuckin zen shit

Printed books are just paper.

Shame the optic drive doesnt work and some faggot installed XBMC on it and I can't unfuck it.

They're your property, but you aren't very smart.

I think its actually a communist

fucking collectorfags fuck OFF

No, go back to cuckchan kid.

Daily reminder that we're literally worse than 4chan at this point on almost all fronts with principle being one of the only reasons not to go there.

Never ever mate. Just softmod your Xbox

t. someone who hasn't seen what cuckchan is like now

That isnt how this works, Commie, this isnt how any of this works at all.

Stay there >>>/cuckchan/

...

Did you not play any xbox games when they came out?

My third Ikgeami HTM-1700R arrived, three big repair projects, going to be a lot of fun figuring these things out. I've also ordered dreamcast batteries and resistor/capacitor replacements for the DC controller board so I can restore some non-functioning systems. I also got some RCA to Phoenix connectors for my Extron Crosspoint, just need some BNC cables and then I need to integrate it into my setup. Very excited to get that running. I'm waiting on two games right now, Shadow of the Beast (PS4, Asian-English) and I got one of the 10,000 copies of wonder boy and the dragon's trap. Very excited to get a copy of that one, been wanting to play it, but once I heard limited run games was publishing it, I sat on my hands and anticipated the order period.

Going to pick up a new Soldering station in a few weeks too.

...

I like my games DRM free :)

how is that game? More so, did it get pozzed?

apparently it's a fantastic recreation. I think the new hand drawn art looks decent although in certain areas it appears to have that brush stroke obviously photoshop look, but I'm willing to give it a try.

If you want to know the best version to play on classic systems, the TG16 one is the best choice.

...

ethereal and valueless sadly

I chuckle every time I go in there and he bitches because he's lost all his customers and the store is going belly up.

I work at a classic game shop and he must be retarded. Is he doing full refurbishes of pokemon and the NES?

All I know is he buys them for 5% of what they're worth from people who want to trade/sell and then marks them up, posts them on the store's facebook, and then waits. He bought the store from my grandfather and immediately changed the name and alienated diehard customers.

Every time I investigate the homestead to see what's changed it looks roughly the same as here, down to autism about template threads and Reddit, Holla Forums bait literally everywhere (and accompanying ">>>Holla Forums" responses), and constant whining. Primary differences that their /vg/ is actually active so they don't need to pad their catalog with general threads, and their LOL threads at least pretend to be about vidya. Also due to their speed they're less susceptible to having random sporadic hissyfits about certain subjects being verboten because I say so/Jews (ie Overwatch), and they dwell on non-issues (comparable to Ritsu or ROB) less.

Just like your "physical copies" when the update servers shut down and your planned obsolescence unit dies. Consoles aren't made to last decades anymore, user.

you can always play them offline. I think the only console games these days that have used online authentication are the few MMOs. I think you need to study more how these things work, user.

they never were, considering I'm fixing dreamcasts.

Assuming they ship with the entire game on disc, user, which is not the case anymore, user. There's a reason day one patches are several gb in size.

many do, and are perfectly playable without those patches. Even then, you can just download the .pkg update file and transfer it to your system. Really, you need to do more research because you don't know much about this stuff.

From where, user? The servers are gone, and your hardwate's propritary optic has burnt out :^)

there are autists who kept the dlc alive for the original xbox, there are autists who keep the patches alive for ps3, ps4, xbox 360, xbone, and wii u games.

Really, you lost, time to go away.

...

don't underestimate the fun of watching a train wreck

Sounds cool, I hope you have fun!

I saw a dream cast on drugs list for about 80 with the cables and 5 games I dont know if I should get them

Been a somewhat better month than most here, at least as far as actually finding things I'd been interested in picking up at decent prices. Got Okage: Shadow King for $10 complete (had to have a store out here ship it in from another location because no stores out here have had it in a while). Also stumbled upon Rodea for the Wii (which from what I hear is MUCH better than the 3DS and WiiU versions) for $10 as well. It unfortunately wasn't complete (just being the disc and cover art; I know of one Gamestop with a copy that's just a manual and beat-as-fuck disc, but they're a good sixty miles round trip and I doubt they'd be willing to ship just the manual all the way out here) and I'm a it of a stickler about that, but considering I've not seen it once out here, at least for the Wii, I made an exception. Glad to have found it without giving NISA any money for it either.

Not vidya, but I also picked up a set of SEL for $16 as well.

It's one thing to watch from the sidelines, and another to be a part of the wreck yourself. At the very least though, I would hope he knows what he's getting into, as a fixture of forewarning and low expectations can at least help a bit.

Smells like a good idea for a drawfag to take up.

This is a porn comic, isnt it?

What games? Dreamcasts shouldnt be more than like, $30 with a controller.

What in the fuck? Is it at least an unopened copy, or are we talking a beat up cart only copy? Either way, that's like Gametraders' tier pricing. Most of the stores out my way tend to range from hit-or-miss to outright bad (with one exceptionally decent store; I wish they had a closer location to me), but none of them, NONE of them ask anywhere that price for Pokemon (Pokemon Box being an exception, but these days that's not of use to anyone to actually get), let alone N64 shovelware.

Anytime I start thinking things might be getting bad here, it seems like I find out somewhere else is much worse.

Toy Commander
* Silver (missing the instruction manual)
* Coaster Works
* Test Drive Le Mans
* Vanishing Point
* Sega Sports Tennis 2K2
* Atari Anniversary Edition

yeah nah, not worth it if you ask me

What the actual fuck

Gametraders is (was?) and Ausfag vidya reselling store. And while there's a slight excuse of SotN PS1 being much harder to find in PAL (meanwhile the game went on to be given a Greatest Hits print in NA) to my knowledge, it shouldn't be "$250 Preowned" tier rare, even out there.

I fucking hate these people so fucking much

Part of why I tend to go for games I actually want to play myself on the cheap where feasible, and just download the ones that aren't. Still, it feels good when I do find something I'd like to play and keep around that is normally expensive but is at an absurdly low price for some reason. Has a number of benefits: Not only do you find something of interest cheap, but you also deny reselling scalperkikes it as fodder to hock, as well as deny them YOU as a customer for that game.

What a kikey reseller (may or may not be redundant; does anything else about him set off your J-dar?).

Find out where he lives and thermite everything.

Start saying shit didnt come in and save it for some kid who actually wants it.

be very careful ye who post your shit in this thread, shills datamine these threads for info and then possibly send robbers to steal high value collectables or some shit. just a theory but it has happened to people before so be aware, be paranoid, and be safe. lock your shit up really tight. peace and love.

You better fucking open them you nigger!

It's more the people who see videogames as a business or investment and the idiots who encourage this behavior. I will always try to find games for as cheap as I can.

Proof?

What's a cheap place to buy bootlegs/repros? Looking to get a copy of Star Ocean or Super Back To The Future in english

This doesn't even make any fucking sense.

PS2 Slim for 10 leaf dollars, yes or no?
no controllers, cords, memory cards or games though.

Ten bucks is pretty cheap but the cheapest way to get all the other accessories it needs is bundled together with a used console, so in the end you'll end up with two and only one set of cords and shit.

No controller thread, so I'll ask here: For pc use, my options are a wiiu controller, or bootleg dualshocks. Genuine xbox and ps controllers are fucking expensive. Is the wiiu controller good or should I get something else

Probably yes, any other console I'd say you get scammed with all the accessories but the ps2 was so mass produced I could easily sell you 3 sets of ps2 accessories

Somebody send help, or more giant discs.

Playstation video cables are cheap as fuck, Slims use a standard 8 style power cable. Controllers are a bit more expensive.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy reproduction carts. Especially of SNES/SFC games, given how much those are where I live. Even the reproduction ones are a good $50 a piece. You'd probably get more of your money's worth from buying a flash cart and loading it up with those fan-translated games, if you're wanting to play them on the actual system they were for.

Only reproduction cart I have is Mother 3 for the GBA, and only because I found it at a store out here for $10 and had heard that the rhythm element to the battle system doesn't sync that well when emulated.

I'd be a bit worried as to if it actually worked or not. Ten maple bucks isn't much, but at the same time if it's broken, you're likely to be out $10 and have spent more on cords, controllers, etc just trying to see if it works or not.

I know there's also a place that's selling a PS2 slim for 4 leaf dollars, and that one comes with the cords and 1 controller. Should I just get that instead?

*40 leaf dollars

Inspect whether it works first, ask if the seller knows if it's refurbished or not, etc. And see about testing it out yourself if possible too. You might want to mind the model number as well, as there's some slight variance of game compatibility (both PS2 and PS1 backward compatibility) between models. And I personally like the fat due to ability to use the expansion bay to house a drive for loading games off of (I like having actual copies of games I enjoy, but it's great for getting around obscene prices and region lock, and allows for running patched games and not putting as much wear on the laser and disc drive as well), but that's just my own opinion on it.

Best store I know of around gives a year long warranty on systems bought from them, where if it breaks or stops working they'll replace it with another one. Might want to investigate the store you're considering's policies in regards to that.

I know the store with the $10 PS2 slim is a thrift store, so the PS2's condition is already questionable. I know a friend of mine bought a PS2 slim there for $15 a few months ago and it's still fine. I know the guy who runs the store with the $40 PS2 slim said all of the consoles are tested to make sure they're working. I know the university in the same town hates the guy because while he's never openly said anything about it, there's some SJW club at the uni in the town that claims he hates gays.

I hate how much the market is full of greedy asshole now. I remember the time I could buy a ton of games with a few dollars. I actually got myself a few boxed snes and n64 games for 10 to 20$ a few years ago. Now you'll have a hard time finding them under 100$. I'm no collector or anything, but I like to own copy of games I enjoy, but only at a reasonable price.

it was sadly true

...

I personally wouldn't buy a system from a thrift store, at least one that uses an actual plug-based power source/requires them for display (in contrast something like a game boy would be easy to check how it works if you bring a pair of batteries). Especially since where I live, thrift stores, pawn shops, goodwill, etc, as far as vidya goes, are just used as a dumping ground for stuff nowhere else will give enough value for, or in some cases, even take in.

I don't even bother with flea markets where I live. Too fucking hot most of the year, and the few times I've been, there's been no one selling anything vidya related. Main places I go for games (one I have to get preowned anyhow) are the best game store I know of (shame I'm not exactly close anymore) and a multimedia shop that has a tendency to fuck up prices occasionally for reasons that I can't exactly fathom, has a points system that can eventually net you half-off the price, and has a constant "20% off anything preowned under $60" voucher for doing a quick survey after purchasing (which stacks with the store points too). Gotten a lot of stuff cheaply between all of those, but that's not to say they aren't usually still hit-or-miss (IE: asking $30+ for a game that goes for $10 elsewhere, but $12 for another game that's $40+ elsewhere as well). They've proven worth my time to check back at though.

I rarely bother with buying older games online (unless I honestly can't find something locally for a lengthy amount of time) due to how everyone seems to just go off of ebay and Amazon scalper prices. Granted, most brick and mortar places do so as well, but I still stand a better chance of getting good prices from them. Pays to take time to locate, observe, and learn about how your local options handle (which admittedly does take multiple visits to start piecing together potential patterns).

For what reason, user?

I want to grab lots of Sega stuff. Where do I go to find a cd, 32x or Saturn?
Also one of these wouldn't hurt

The only reason to collect stuff is to sell it to a collector autist.
Oh hey, any of you faggots want to buy some vidya?

… eBay. Also worth looking into is an S-Video modded 32X, since you can instantly add S-Video to any Genesis using it. The jump to S-Video on Genesis will blow your mind. Single biggest jump in image quality is the one from Composite to S-Video.

Got a complete gta classics cd set. Has all the posters and everything.

This guy fucks.

How do you like that Videodisc player? I have an older one with the lever load/play. Have you had to replace the needle yet?

Lucked out with this today. I opened it, though, since I'm not into keeping things sealed.

There is a story associated with them and I don't think I can bare anyone else having these games no matter the cost.

I'm more curious about that black dreamcast.

Those bright colors hurt my poor, sensitive eyes. The developers clearly INTENDED for the game to look muddy and designed it with that in mind. You're ruining the graphics.

Anyone know if this is rare, or even a legit Sega game? I have the green CD, no official case or anything else really, and I have NO CLUE where it came from, so IDK if it's haunted or what

Is it worth anything? I've been meaning to sell mine for a while. I remember the first Vita game's LE I made money on.

Gifts from a now lost friend/family member?

That and the PC version of S3&K has a shitty soundtrack because it had to be remade to work with midi, thus no sampled audio

Are any of the other games on it worth trying? I don't have my DVD reader plugged into my PC right now, but I might test it out to make sure it's not haunted sometime

>considering getting the Xbone X because disposable income

All my analog stuff goes through that to the TV. If you're referring to the tape collection, I got them all for free.

If anything, I want the older ones. This auto-loader can be pretty finicky, I have to push the caddy in just right. No need for a needle replacement yet, Star Wars plays perfectly. I probably won't be replacing the needle either, can't find one for under $50.

Just because you have money to spend doesn't mean you should feel you have to go out and spend it. Especially if you'd be just spending it for the sake of spending it (does the system even have enough games of interest to you personally to warrant picking it up?).

That is too bad. I was hoping the newer ones were quality. I really like my auto loading VHD player. It grabs the entire cart sucks it in and then spits out the empty cart. Here is my freshly dusted shelf.

There's no such thing as disposable income. If you have money you spend aimlessly you're probably poor.

At a flea market i ask this guy selling electronics how much it was for a piece of shit mic that looks exactly 5 dollars and he replied "wait, i'm checking ebay". I gtfo of there so quickly once he said that.

...

What a cunt. While recently working on my collection I ended up with 4 genesis, 3 of them model 1s (1 of them the "high definition graphics" model) . I don't think I paid more than 15 for a single unit even the "high definition graphics" unit. I gave away all the model 1's to friends without asking a dime (except the one for my personal collection of course).

Kek people keep seeing those model 1s listed at $150 and assume it is because it is a model 1 without ever noticing the writing on the top of the console is missing from theirs. Even then there are two HD models and they are not equal.

At least the (non-Gamestop) stores I know of where I live aren't prone to constantly adjusting prices, so if something's sat there at X price even though it's at Y now, it's a very low chance they'll update it unless it's yearly inventory week, or something. Though, that of course works in both directions.

Places that don't even list prices on the games they have there, and just check ebay, Amazon, or pircecharting for the current value when you go to pay are pure fucking cancer. Might as well be getting the same experience looking online yourself than bothering to go to there.

I paid 80 dollars for mine because it was a specific version and was heavily modded with s-video and regional swtiches. Maybe someday i'll learn to solder or stop being lazy to mod my consoles. Some are easy to mod and others need a chip just to downgrade.

Like those nintendo games that stay at the same price even after the console is gone
it's pretty insulting how much they want to push their used games with retail prices, or collector prices when it suits them. I love the bullshit they try to tell you after getting the clear social cue that it's a rip off.

"Oh, it's a rare game".

More along the lines of places leaving games at the then current price LONG after it's gone down elsewhere. And not just third party resellers either. A few years back fucking Walmart was still asking $45 for copies of Other M and Sin and Punishment 2, $35 for Glory of Heracles, etc, all of which had numerous copies just rotting on the shelves because even for new copies they were asking WAY too much (combine with not being willing to price match their own online store prices, or even the Gamestop on the other side of the parking lot, and it's a recipe for unsold copies). "Everyday low prices" my ass.

Gamestop still stocking something at the very least seems to put a cap of sorts on what other stores can charge for a game, provided they wish to remain competitive with the biggest player on the block. Its when they stop stocking for something that prices can get unfettered.

"L@@K RARE" and "Like New" have to be among the most abused terms amongst reselling faggots. I have seen to former applied to so many games, either simply because they're not Call of Duty or Madden tier common, or just not made anymore and thus are "rare". I don't mind seeing that with games that actually ARE hard to find, but when it's something ranging from merely uncommon to "see it every other store" that it's being applied to that it wheres on you. And with "Like New", so many faggots apply that just the discs or cartridge; the rest can be in tatters or completely absent, because "it's the game itself that matters!" logic. As if the game when shipped out by the retailer was just a cart or disc in a paper sleeve, or with the manual torn and the cover art having had juice spilled on it, or something.

physically uncomfortable to read this written at any point

I know, I felt bad even writing it like that in the post, but that seem to be how all those shitters write it out, likely to increase likelihood of their listings being noticed. If they actually just said "rare game" and kept usage of it to actually hard to find games I could respect that, but the cancerform is the go-to, and is thoroughly abused.
I mean, fucking save it for the actually hard to find stuff (Blood Will Tell, Mana Khemia 2, etc, to use some more PS2 examples). If everything is given the "rare" treatment, then the word loses meaning. But they wouldn't care about that, they just want easy interest and quicker (potentially larger) profits from people that don't know any better.

Just get an Everdrive.
Yeah, you should probably learn. That mod is just a capacitor, a resistor and a single transistor.

t. Guy who modded his own Genesis.

...

Yeah, it's pretty laughably obvious.

It was also a specific model 1 with better graphics and sound. Yes i do need to learn though.

...

Total income-living expenses-bills-emergency stashing=disposable income. I usually have about $200 extra per month, so that gets cycled into collector-fagging, computer and console upgrades. As far as enjoyable games, my shit list includes:

Are you the same user that dumped on me for not having any anime laserdiscs in the last thread? Because I still don't have any. Holding out for a few though, Neon Genesis and Nuku Nuku being at the top of the list.

those fucking sport games lol, they're everywhere and no one wants them.

There's a dollar bin in my local vidya shop that is just filled with old sports games. I'm sure if you ask nice enough they'd just give em to you if you wanted. Honestly I wouldn't even accept them if I was a reseller, most chads think they're gonna come in with 5 years worth of madden and fifa and come out with a new ps4 or something.

I need to get some sort of furniture for my AV hardware. I have a (GOOD) SVHS deck, a (slightly fucked up) Pioneer LD player, a Sony receiver, a Sony DVD player, a couple 8 track decks, a Panasonic stereo with a turntable and twin tape decks, and first-party remotes for everything remote-capable.

Again, see abuse of terminology. When everything is rare, nothing is rare. And considering all the trash that lot apparently had, I'd wager the "Don't ask for individual games" thing is because otherwise they'd quickly be left with all trash no one wants still. Via lot sale, they can dump it all on the buyer instead. $300 is still a horrendous amount to ask though, and the only way any of that is "rare" is if they're operating on "artificial scarcity" caused by Gamestop having driven out most of their competition over the years and subsequently opting to no longer stock sixth gen and earlier in store (similar logic behind price hikes on older games at some local stores here, and was especially notable when the Gamecube stopped being stocked).

Have a screencap of a seller hocking an "ornamental" game for close to $50.

I think where I am the only reason any actual vidya shop would take them in is for spare cases, they're so worthless at this point.

The way I see it, the likes of Gamestop just reinforce the "it's the game itself that matters!" mindset amongst resellers. In years past, I've gone looking for particular games at Gamestop (which I had already looked for elsewhere locally and come across nothing for; Gamestop is not my first port of call), only for them to only have cart or disc only copies and the cashier being all too pushy that you should just accept buying their games like that and feel lucky they even still carry it like that in the first place.

I responded to the guy's ad, and he said he does have the AV and power cables, he's willing to sell everything for $50, and the Xbox is homebrewed.
How good of a deal did I strike?

pretty decent. I dont know how canabucks work but the average here in the states at least MI is $40 for an OG xbox with a controller. Add to that the splitter+usb2xbox+hdd+splinter cell to do the softmodding should run around the same price. Do you know if the HDD is stock or larger?

Just went for a drive to a couple of 2nd hand places. Managed to get an official wiimote+nunchuck, sensor and cables for $6.00 and a brand new copy of namco collection for ps2 and saints row 2 for ps3 for $5.00.

I dont know where any other 2nd hand stores are in my area so will probably look online to see if I can find some more.

thats pretty good, saves you the time and hassle soft modding it yourself.

Maybe, I have rearranged my shelves a bit since the last time I took pics. There is really no excuse user they are pretty cheap unless you go looking when only one or two people are selling what you are after.

The best advice i can give you is to measure the depth. A lot of current shelving are not very deep and it sucks when you get a new shelf and half your old shit wont fit in it. I don't know how large your 8track decks are but I have a player recorder and have had a hard time finding anything large enough to set it up.

At least when the sports games were in carts there was still some value to them.

Depending on where you live, do be aware that if you're just doing a generic "game stores in [X location]" search, some of them are liable to be tabletop game shops, and the name of the stores may not differentiate as to what the place actually stocks. Had a few failed outings looking for games based on searches for new places locally, in which I ended up at Warhammer shops instead of vidya ones.

>Sega CDs for 130 maples and Master System controllers for 30
>Sports games are on for (((2 for 15)))
Feels bad man

It's more common than you think!

Makes me glad that the best game store I know of out here is in no danger of going under, let alone the management retiring. If anything, they've been thinking of buying out one of the worse stores and opening another branch of their place at that location, which is a notion I'd welcome since it would be a lot less of a drive for me (and prices/selection would likely be much better than the store currently there as well).

Wouldn't Pajeet most likely be hindu? I'm just saying.

Picked up Ghost Blade HAD for 45 bucks. Only 3000 ever made, and they tend to go for double that on eBay. Limited Run Games might be doing their own print, but it will probably be even more expensive than Eurasiasoft's release.

Speaking of shmups, Raiden V Director's Cut is coming out next month.

*HD, not HAD.

Fucking Android. At least I don't game with it! :')

Guessing they didn't think there to be enough of a consumerbase to warrant a retail release? Or is it just the sort of game where the publisher wants to cut out physical production as much as possible out here (ala Okami HD)?

They hyped it up as a limited box set, and to be fair, it's pretty nice, considering they sold them for like 30 dollars. But I'm not sure of their reasoning. Eurasiasoft seems to be doing this kind of thing a lot.

Sounds kind of like what TK's done with some of Gust's Vita games, making them limited print only, albeit they use NISA as a distributor (which is a justifiable turn-off for a number of people), and each LE cost $55 ($15 more than the standard digital price). Though it should be said some of those have climbed to retarded prices now.

I don't get TK's reasoning either, in regard to aiming for digital only on a system with notoriously pricy memory cards, and only doing limited physicals for a handful (and not even managing to do a complete physical of the Dusk series, as they started on them after Ayesha Plus was out). I know the Vita's got something of less of a base to draw profit from compared to the PS3, but I'd honestly be curious as to just how the digital sales have compared to their original (non-"Plus") counterparts. And it's not like other, smaller companies, like XSEED, haven't been willing to take that hit on producing retail physical copies to avert system owner annoyance with digital only releases (again, given the space-to-cost ratio on Vita memory).

I swear Sony killed the Vita with that memory card bullshit. What was wrong with SD cards? Was it really worth having a smaller user base than the fucking Neo Geo Pocket?

I got me a 55" 4K TV for $400

Context:
It was missing the remote, box and stand.
All things that can cheaply be replaced but hurr we think you'll break it taking it home so have $300 off

You can't overcharge on SD cards.
Shut I don't see why your surprised considering how much they tried to lock people down to memory stick duos on psp

It's always something like that. At worst I got the shit end of the stick considering last I heard she's an honorary jap living in Osaka while I am shitposting in a western image board emulating a japanese bbs system.

I have 20% off at a local used game store on any one item, but I don't actually want anything.

Anyone else feel this way? There's nothing I really want to buy in games period.

My main beef is literally every game I want is absent from "publisher sales".
Mother fucking square enix never putting my Disney weebshit on sale.

And in related news, I found out that I own a valuable game (pic related). So I guess I'm a collector then?

Nice. I wish I had hoarded all the cool games from GameStop years ago when they were selling off all their GameCube games. But I was hesitant because GameStop was still selling some of the more interesting ones for about 30 smackers.

When was that? I remember when they stopped taking retro shit about 10 years back, but this was before that. I was a stupid kid reading gamefaqs fanboys sperg about little-known cube games that were worth playing and that one ticked my boxes. It wasn't anything like I was trying to go around and grab up obscure games, just unintentional shit.

I threw money away back then though, goofy parents spoiling me.

I'm glad I had a cube though, as per usual Nintendo is the brand that keeps its value while the rest become cheap pickup fests.

I honestly don't remember. Six or seven years ago? The time is really flying. Soon I'll be dead.

:(

I just sold my PS3 copy of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel for $20 that I got just before the PC port was announced. I want to buy an Xbox game with the money and unsure to get between Breakdown, Arctic Thunder, either Blinx games or the JSRF/Sega GT 2002 pack.

Also considering selling the PS2 versions of KoF Maximum Impact and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, but I don't think I'll get that much money for it. Same goes for my broken 60GB PS3.

are those games worth 20? I paid something like 5 bucks for my copy of JSRF/Sega GT. Got Breakdown too, for 2.50 IIRC. Maybe my local store just undervalues OG xbox?

From what i remember Blinx 2 is worth some money, but no way in hell JSRF/GT is.

Sony gets the profit on proprietary memory, and also likely something they felt would help prevent the Vita from turning into another Piratestation Portable (as quickly, at the very least). But yeah, it's stupid choices, like overpriced memory, save data backups being tethered to game data, pushing "digital only in the west" mindset, etc that did a real number on the system's potential out here. Not that they'll ever admit to having fucked it up.

I'd wager it's a lot more frequent of games/franchises owned directly by the platform holder to find their way into markdowns, compared to third party. Hell, I remember people having to wait all year for markdowns on the Vita Atelier Arland games some years back because otherwise those were all a full $40 digital only at any other time of the year (KT eventually did a "three for the price of two" bundle that remains up).

Hindsight's a bitch. I recall seeing a copy of Gotcha Force during that, but given that I knew nothing about the game and it was $30, I ignored it. Did at least get Eternal Darkness for $15 and a double pack of Ocarina or Time and Windwaker for $30.

I want to say it was around summer of 2011, because I picked up Eternal Darkness just before going on a summer trip after graduating, but I could be remembering wrong.

Given any consideration to Otogi 1 and 2? Just a thought.

I wonder if this could fetch a good price on ebay or something.

Maybe the original Otogi because I snagged the sequel along with Orta, GunValkyrie and the DOA games months ago.

Got a N2DS XL with CFW on it for Freeshop, Steins;Gate complete series, Dangitronpaul Ultra Despair Girls and Aegis of Earth for Vita, Gravity Rush Remastered and Valkyria Chronicles for PS4 and Sonic Mania, shit's good.

Considering getting a SD2Vita next.

Shit PS4 games.

Found a copy of Chaos Legion last week in about the best shape I've ever seen it in (complete, $10), as well as Fragile Dreams (complete; was priced as $40, but managed to get it for $15 out of pocket, after store credit). Also found a complete set of Last Exile for $20; not exactly Holla Forums material, but might as well have mentioned it. Going to see if I can get a cheap microSD for a flashcart I've had sitting around later too. Assuming the store's willing to match their own online prices (which in my experiences, they're not always apt to).

Nice. Good luck if you're looking locally though. Neither Otogi game are especially easy to find, in person anyhow. I see them once or twice a year here; would maybe give them a buy, given they're pretty cheap despite their low availability, if I had more reason to own an Xbox myself.

Shame that seems to be a scalper item these days, at least as far as physical copies go. I've been keeping a look out in case I can find a cheap copy locally, but thus far no such luck. Fucking Sony, the game was one of the most common games out here for Vita, yet it gets the shortprint treatment on the system they actually want to push these days? With the Playstation Store, I suppose they feel they can get away with not running very many when digital copies are effectively unlimited, but still.

Anyhow, I hope you didn't have to pay too much for it.

its a miracle gravity rush even got a remaster let alone a sequel. You can always get an english-asian copy unless you really need that ESRB logo.

15 for it, was on a deal with Valkyria Chronicles so thought why not. Have Vita version as well.

Gravity Rush was a launch title and first party to boot, so there was little trouble getting it in the early days. Sony doesn't really give a shit about the series, so I imagine that remaster was just a bit of charity. Maybe they just want to save money and support third party games instead. I don't know.

Good suggestion.

That's pretty damn good from what I've heard of it as far as prices go. Assuming you're talking about a physical copy, I mean. You find it at that price by chance online, or locally?

Yeah, I can understand that. And I'm not the sort that is averse to Asia/Pacific copies with English text (especially if it's the same script; Okami HD for example, albeit that didn't have a native physical release here at all, fucking Capcom). I just find it a shame that Sony, for all their pushing of the PS4, didn't seem to have that much faith in the remaster to actually give it a proper sized print run out here.

Locally at GAME. In Bongland, shit's very common or so I've seen anyway.

On that note, I figure I might ask: I know the Vita version had some DLC missions, and it would seem (according to Play-Asia's page on it) that all copies come with those built-in to the base game now. Is the game thus "complete" now, or did they make additional DLC for the Remaster that might be incompatible between regions? Also, is there any "old-save bonus" unlocks in regard to Gravity Rush 2 from the game that might also have compatibility issues between various regions one might buy the games from?

Huh. Maybe it's just the NA print that got fucked over? I know there's sometimes some variables in how many copies get shipped that can lead to a game being common in one area but very hard to find/expensive in another. Like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the PS1. Here in the US, at least my part of it, I tend to see copies for maybe $25-30 average (lowest I've seen was $12 a few years back), and it's got both a regular release and Greatest Hits version, but I've heard in Europe it got a rather small shipment, no Greatest Hits print, and, at the time, I'd heard about that was costing a good $80 or so (or the equivalent thereof) on the aftermarket there.

thats a nice jewish way to say it's a fucking used game

As long as the disc is in good condition, that's all that really matters, but the jewery in resellers is a sign of the times. The classic game market was ruined by trust fund hipsters paying obscene sums for even common crap because retro is obscure or some dumb shit. When people realized they could sell games for tens or hundreds of dollars, and people would still buy them no matter how absurd the prices became, it was the end.

The only DLC in the remaster is the same DLC from the Vita game. As far as data carrying over to the 2nd game, that doesn't happen.

I asked about the old save bonus last time but never got a concrete answer. The bonus is all the costumes from the first game. There was no DLC released for the hd version so it can be considered complete Still pretty short though

I saw this while I was out shopping today, and I was thinking of getting it, but I know the store owner has a history of having scalper level prices for vidya. Is it worth buying?

Also what's considered a reasonable price range for this game? I forgot to ask that.

I have it; it's not fun to play, in my opinion. I have no idea what a fair price would be, since all it's good for is ass GIFs.

I bought a copy of it for $3. can literally be beat by mashing the fire button as fast as you can on 90% of enemies

Also, since I mentioned above the status for what both were there years back, this location STILL has unsold copies of Glory of Heracles DS and Metroid: Other M on the shelves for $25 and $30 respectively. Meanwhile, their own website has the former for $20 (still too much compared to Amazon and elsewhere) and the latter at $15 (WAY too much for that piece of shit, even for a new copy), both of which being a good bit cheaper than at a physical location. Either they're fucking slow to take notice of why their shit isn't selling, or leave the games at such prices in the hopes some occasional imbecile will buy them at the in-store prices (and in the case of GoH, there's next to no demand even when the price is low).

Yeah, but the bigger issues seems to be the way they're using it to try to justify the prices.

I'd wager it's a four-way issue:

Getting some mixed messages here.

I saw a copy once for $4 (lowest I've seen a complete one at), and the most I tend to see it for locally, when I see it anyhow, is maybe $10 or so. Not a game that seems to see much interest on either the buyer or seller side of the table.

...

...

Well at least you're out of jail now
You did kill her
Right?

She was gone before I even got home.

Fucking hell. I hate bidding on Sega Saturn games. I'll need to take out a second mortgage.

That doesn't matter. As long as you don't make your list public, or ever talk about it, those who are the target of your vengeance will become lazy and careless, and easier to find.

Saturn mod chip, or buy a RHEA. The only legit Saturn games I have are those I picked up at yardsales, rummage sales, thrift stores, and pawn shops in the early 2ks.

That sucks, but that's why you always, ALWAYS, leave your stuff with someone you absolutely trust not to sell or trash it if you're going away from an extended period of time, and in my opinion, I'd never trust family to not do so. I do hope your dad reimbursed you for his mistake in letting that whore into the house though.

What's great is when those e-celebs have the fucking nerve to advertise knowing what games they're going to inflate the price of as a perk on their fucking Patreons.

Personally, I think if I ever did gameplay/review videos (or even non-imageboard posts), I'd make a point of not only letting viewers know all their options for playing a game, both legitimate or not (albeit that they can find their own ROMs/ISOs), but also to not fucking destroy the aftermarket for a given game when there's much cheaper or outright free options for them to be able to play said games. Of course, how much respect they have for that, or if some scalper ring comes across your videos, and stockpiles and ups the prices themselves in anticipation of a demand spike, is not exactly in your control. It's an unfortunate conundrum: A lot of games could use more attention and be better appreciated even if it's long after they were current, but at the same time getting word out can just create a cancerous situation for the price/availability of said games. In a way, I can't help but wonder if a shitpost I saw a year or two back of "the less people out there that know about the games I like, the better" might be correct, both in regards to the aftermarket and not attracting cancer to a fanbase.

I bought an SNES a while ago, bringing my count of consoles lying on the floor because I don't have a proper place to put them to four. I also got Super Robot Wars V in the mail a few days ago, which is the first game and currently only game I've ever imported.

I've got a pretty big collection, which has been slowly multiplying over the years and as a result has managed to become a bit of a hassle to find a place for

I've gotten so so-so deals at flea markets, the best of which being a dreamcast that either sometimes plays games or just sometimes plays blue stinger for $20, the entire FF collection for PS1 for $33, a dreamcast gameshark for $1, some weird 1M game hunter+memory hunter thing that can "switch from PAL to NTSC"(which it doesn't do well) for $1, and the occasional $10-20 game for $1-5

so far the biggest "deals" I've found in general are a modded PS1 for $16, every FF game for ps1 for $33, and rule of rose for $99

and I wonder why I don't have money anymore

granted the shelf I like the most is the one with all my horror games

If you're going to take shelf pictures, don't have games blocking games. What sort of units are you using anyhow that you're running out of space (width, how many shelves, etc)? Granted, it's hard to see just how much you have when thus far you're just showing what seems to be a half a shelf or maybe a corner, but still.

I recommend studying what places you have locally, whether they've got decent selection, below average prices, etc. And, in the case you're looking to really save money, if they're prone to pricing fuckups. There's a multimedia chain out where I am that's prone to having the occasional game at anywhere from half to a sixth of what other places charge. I'm just saying, since if you're buying online, most people are just going to charge what other online vendors are asking. At least with independent brick and mortar used game stores you might have a chance of still getting a good price. It can still be a crapshoot (and takes time and multiple trips to study how X, Y, and Z stores handle themselves), but I've managed enough stupidly cheap finds to have reason to keep at it.

It's like, if the online market, a place with a much vaster amount of potential traffic wasn't interested in any of these at the prices you're asking, what in the fuck makes them think a much smaller amount of random yard sale-goers are going to be interested in buying them for those prices either? Patrolling resellers aren't going to bother at those prices, and neither are Paco and his twenty-odd vermin offspring (spics here are probably the main people that go to yard sales and the like; I wonder if ICE has considered using estate sales to bust illegals?). The only people that MIGHT be interested are those that actually know something about games, but they're not apt to want to pay $30 or more for vidya at a yard sale. And that's not even factoring in whether or not they're games where the average person is even going to recognize or know; a lot of the games at that yard sale weren't the sort the average pleb was going to recognize.

I put those games down up in front because they're covered in shadow when they're placed on top of those games. that picture is about 90% of the shelf, the rest of that box on the left is pretty much the rest of the shelf, and it's 1 of about 5 shelves of the same height, depth, and width.

yeah, I've been looking around and so far we've got a couple of buy/sell/trade places which either have slightly below or slightly above what they ask online, but occasionally you'll find a game that hasn't been looked at in years so it's got a price from like 5 years ago and that's either shenmue 2 for double what its worth or rule of rose for half of what its worth

but in terms of flea markets there's this guy I see at one, every time I go there, and he must be a serious seller because he's always got the same spot in the same shaded area, and every time I see the fucker he's got shit like GTA3 for $15 and FF9 for $60, and I don't have the heart to tell the greasy son of a bitch that he'll never sell any of his games at those prices but apparently he has and that fucking baffles me

Yeah, after a few moments I wondered if the focus of the image wasn't the full shelf itself, but rather the particular games given a front-and-center placement. Still, might be easier to take a separate photo for games you really like than with the shelving unit itself (I've done so a few times for a couple of series I like); might find it more usable at points in the future as well. Just a thought.

Okay, I can see how that would probably be running out of space, especially if you've got stuff on every shelf. My own main unit can fit about 44 standard cases per shelf, and while there's still some decent room on it, I also have a smaller, secondary unit for handheld games. Might be worth looking out for one like that if you've got the space, though if you're complaining about not having spending money, it might be better to invest in modded systems, loaders, etc and maybe take the expenses off a bit (especially considering how bad off the aftermarket for some system libraries can get these days).

I've thought about that as a cause before for why a game might be at a given price, but the store here that fucks up, I'm at reasonably often enough to know that in 95% of my purchases there, that's probably not been the case (Okage though stands a good possibility of that, as it was shipped in from another location and the case was pretty dusty; I have some vague memory of having been to that location it shipped from years back and them having a copy back then too). I really can't think of why the prices would be as such for the rest, aside from most of my good pickups there having been rather niche games: Part of me wants to think maybe they know that at full price they'd likely just rot on the shelves, or in the cabinets, and eat up space for who knows how long because the games aren't all that popular, but on the other hand I've seen them have seemingly no problem selling full priced games, especially if it's a cult classic. And rotting on the shelf might not be considered a problem to them, given how much I've seen them asking in-store for stuff ($130 for Evangelion, $400 for a secondhand oculus rift, etc), even if they're just going to sit there for months, maybe years at that price.

Maybe if that copy of GTA3's in really good shape, but that's still expensive for such a fucking common game. It wouldn't even surprise me if unopened copies don't go for much more than preowned ones. And FF9 is at most $20 complete where I live (FFVII has always been the "expensive" of the PS1 originals here, and for a while sat at about $45 despite having sold well enough to get a Greatest Hits print too; now it's down to about $20 as well), and I'd wager that if I had interest, I could pick a copy up for probably half that with a bit of patience in searching, and still have it be in good shape. PS1 games these days I'm more apt to just stick an eboot on my PSP of, though I still have a half-shelf or so of physical games. Kind of kicking myself though for not nabbing Dragon Quest VII PS1 some years back when I saw it for $12 at that multimedia place, but I was already getting Super Mario Sunshine, Koudelka, and Xenogears for about $30, which was all the money I was willing to drop at the time. Not that that wasn't a a good night for finds, but hindsight's still a bitch.

I know I could've gotten it on PC, but I have fond memories of playing KOTOR on my og xbox I had to get it last week. The xbox original is really fun especially if you go through the time it takes to softmod it and install a larger HDD.

Also make sure you get the actual disc with the actual game. I got home to see they had put the platinum version of Kotor in my original black case. Stuff like that triggers my autism.

pick only one, goy!.
