I think he's just incredibly OCD/Autistic. If you go to his steam profile you can see he's been playing the game, which means it's been uploaded. The problem seems to be his autism caused him to not think about things like needing steam to approve the package for release, so he just figured he could pore through the game for bugs until the day he said it would be released and then upload it at the last second.

At least, that's what I'm hoping, he has a history of this shit. What makes this different is that it looks like he actually uploaded the game this time, so there is a possibility that the release is just delayed because the autist uploaded it at the last possible moment. Knowing Cleve, though, this could just be a new frontier of the never ending cycle.

Many classes aren't available right away to some races, and I think a few aren't available at all. It all depends on what the base stats for the race is. However, you can always multi-class into those classes later on. As far as I know, multi-classing will work like in Wizardry 6 and 7. You will lose some attributes, but keep your hp and mana (I think), your spells and your skills. Your level will reset to 1 and your attributes reset back to the minimum of your race and new class. By multi-classing several times, it is possible to build very powerful characters.

Level up, you can switch classes once you have the stats for them. So you probably want your 'templar' to start as a cleric or warrior. You can upgrade your thief to a pirate or assassin, a spellcaster to necromancer, a bard to jester.

Finally got around to start playing it. This is really cool.
The oldest style RPG I've been able to appreciate before this was Daggerfall, and that is because that game was so ahead of its time.
Even though the world looks very limited, the amount of options at my disposal and the fact that you can choose your actions before going into combat makes this all really nice. The Music is great too, but the SFX are pretty much what you'd expect for something supposed to be oldschool.
Also the AI are assholes, and will deliberately target more vulnerable characters, forcing me to take measures to protect them.

In the Library you can chargen your own party the stats of the races are a) static and b) the points rolled will go to a flat point exchange to increase any stats needed for the classes you can qualify for first and then the rest of the points will go to either buying spells or bonus stuff you can throw it in. Point buying hitpoints is a sucker's game go for raw stats and Destiny points is for those who want to increase some hidden luck mechanic in the game.

Also, it's better to pick a lower class since they get the starter spells while advanced ones don't seem to. I used cheat engine to give myself a 100 roll to check templar out and you get no free spells from it.

I'm still figuring everything out, but I'll keep that in mind when I make a serious party, I'm just using all the default characters right now that came in the library. Esmerelda (the eye thing) is dead already, and that was my only DPS caster, so I doubt I'll make it very far. But I love the racial abilities for combat. I have some ?dragonman? Yeah. I set it to class and it put the fighter classes up front. I remember in Bard's Tale and some others, only the front guys can melee attack, but it seems everyone can attack in this and it also seems like enemies can aim for everyone, so I'm not totally sure what march order exactly affects. This is why we need the manual.

Starting with the base classes is probably a good idea. Hard to min max atm.

I've found that it SUCKS to have anyone with low hitpoints. Destiny did save one of my characters from death though. I'm worried that I'll screw myself if I don't pick destiny. Also, status effects suck in this game and they don't seem to go away with time, and you can get status effects that can't be cured with the "cure light cond" spell at the start like paralysis.

cure paralysis is it's own spell, same as neutralize poison. cure light condition is for minor debuffs, I think.

I've just started to get the hang of it, I think. It's a tough pill to swallow that you can't win every fight, or that party members aren't supposed to be permanent. I just wish there was a manual because there are all these stats and skills that I have no idea what they do. I also can't seem to figure out what you have to type to get shopkeepers to trade with you.

A party filled with nothing but premade characters is pretty shit. I recommend spend 15 minutes with making 8 new ones. The party I made consists of 3 warriors 1 berserker, a sage, a wizard, a thief and a cleric and fare very good against weak enemies like flesh grubs.

You can identify enemy with a Sage by casting the Identify spell.

You can see lightly colored bricks sometimes in walls. Those are secret buttons. They are very visible when looking at the wall. You can click them to activate the switch. Your cursor turns into the interaction hand when you hover over a switch like that.

I had a Thief with 19 scouting when I entered that dungeon and he noticed half of the secret buttons as I walked by passively without searching.
