Here is my conclusion, depending on situation.

I am unfortunately in this same boat, OP. The concept and extent of these mods for Skyrim for example is great, but the one major failing I always find is that the link between sex and the actual gameplay is minuscule at best. I don't want to just fuck someone and watch my characters warp to some shitty sex animation, there should be depth to this. There just isn't enough work put in to these aspects.

Once the gameplay is over It's the desperate attempt to make the game something other than it is by making your MC a glistening whore you can jack off to. They want a fully modded TheKlub17 (that's less hassle to get going than TK17 is) and Skyrim can at least give them models/skins etc of a vaguely similar quality.

People want a HQ Fuck Game and the screenshots of Skyrim+pornmods gives it that *appearance* but very little beyond that, so a large number of people will fall in, see the models and think it's good for the short time it takes them to realise it's still just Skyrim with this shit slopped on top.

I won't debate that most of the mods aren't high quality but many of them are. Once you get shit going and figure out how to install and stabilize the game from crashing it's definitely top tier stuff depending on your preferences. I appreciate how you can pretty much go on a completely random sex quest that you can't get from any other game or medium. There's nothing really quite like it.
