Mystery vidya music

Let's play a game. Post some music and see if others can recognize the vidya
Download some vague image like a black or white background, go to ffmpeg and

ffmpeg -i [drag song to ffmpeg window] -i [drag image to ffmpeg window] [name here].webm
Go wild.

Second is Omikron

Yep.

I love these threads

nah

...

One of the few decent threads around here. Too bad I don't know any of the music.

Post some of your own instead of sucking me off, not-me.

Don't know but it sounds great. Maybe one fo the Payday DLC's?

Payday 2, Blueprints. The new one, specifically.

Yup.

Well, to be specific, it's the beta planning phase theme.

I'm more than sure it's the newer version. Older has a way longer startup and is more muffled.

...

S-sorry. Testing since I've never used this shit before. It's easy.

...

Alright! It works.

I prefer using
ffmpeg -r 1 -loop 1 -i [drag image to cmd window] -i [drag audio to cmd window] -c:a libopus -c:v libvpx -r 1 -shortest [name here].webm

here's an easy one

I wonder who could it be?

I can't find the video after doing that where does it put them?

Hard modo time

This feels like either Spacechem or Satellite Reign.

One easy, one very hard

In the same folder, where the ffmpeg.exe is

If you're using Windows, just search that shit up in your C:\ drive.

I found them but they were in a different folder.
I'm not sure if this worked since they're acting weird on my computer First couple seconds are blank audio because I can't be fucked cropping the mp3s and that's how they were when I downloaded them.

Mystery4: Valdis Story
Mystery5: Hand of fate

Mystery6: Furi
Mystery7: Ronin
Mystery8: Payday 2

Very good Mystery 8 is Payday 1, not 2.

I'm not sure how this happened.

Impressive.

I recognize it but not enough to identify it.

TOWER KNIGHT

I don't know how I managed to fuck up the image on that one.
Have an easy one.

10 points

It puts it into your CWD (Current working directory). In your terminal (or command prompt if you're using a shit OS), your prompt should have a file path. In Windows it defaults somewhere stupid like in Windows/system32. If you do a "CD /" first, it will put it right into C: for you. Otherwise you can create a folder on your desktop, type CD and space, and then drag that folder into your terminal, and press enter. That changes your CWD to the folder, and will put the video in there (make sure ffmpeg still works from there. It should be in your PATH if installed correctly).

Medieval - Runescape
I can't remember where this music played ingame

I think I'll just leave it as is so I don't magically break something. I put it in System32 because I was told to and the output files were in my user folder.

My humble contribution.

I have three offerings of moderate difficulty.

Brings back some childhood memories

Have another one.

Solstice

Sonic 3D Blast for Saturn

Correct. Posting one that should be common knowledge by now.

Snatcher

FFMPEG being in System32 works because it's System32 is part of your default PATH. When you type a command name, it is first searched for in your CWD, and then in each element of your PATH until it is found.

If you open your command prompt and execute that and it puts it in your User folder, that means that's what your CWD defaulted to. That's a good thing. Even pretty recently in Windows, it would default to System32 for some reason. I haven't used Windows since XP, so I don't know when they changed this.

Putting things in System32 works as far as making them universally available, but a better solution is to install it into a proper path in Program Files or whatever it is, and then modifying your system PATH variable to make it available without munging with your Windows directory.

Anyway, joining in with an easy one.

Normal difficulty.

Sí, señor.

1: Mega man x5 Boss theme

First one is Devil Daggers.

Isn't the fourth one Mother 3?

...

You might want to add youtube-dl too while you're at it.

forgot pics

Well done

nope

Bumping with an easy one.

LA Noire

...

Guilty Gear Isuka, Sheep will Sleep (when you are fatigued).

That is correct.

I havent recognized any yet, but all songs so far are really good

One of these are timesplitters maybe

i've heard the first one before, but never in a video game: 7th Dragon III: Code VFD. had to research, never even heard of that game

sonic rush?

this sounds like rob hubbard

Wrong.
A tip: it's not western.

They're both from it. It's a pretty good game.

No. I put hints as to what it is in the filename and the image.

Poison's theme

Bingo.

I'm gonna mix it up by using a remix instead of the original.

I will keep this thread alive if it's the last thing I do.

...

this one will hopefully be difficult to guess

This thread is too neat to die a miserable death. Holy fuck I hope these upload right. I haven't been able to guess a single one of the posts in this thread so far.

The Last Ninja, but on which is a mystery to me.

shittyrussiantracedporngame.swf

Couldn't decide on just one from this game. As a hint, none of the music in the game seems to have any official names anywhere, and no OST release either as far as I'm aware.

Nope

Correct.

Sonny.

Indeed

Bastion.

...

Oni?

I forget the name of the game but that horror walking simulator where you're a painter trying to make a portrait of your dead wife.

I dont know any of these songs.

what the fug

...

I know that fucking music.
It's from The Desolate Hope.

nope

fug, you got it.

Alright, let's do this.

...

...

Eyyyy, the fifth one is from Eastern Mind of the Lost Souls of Tong-Nu.

Yeah.
Now who wants a music that is also a plot point ?

Drakengard 2, the only redeeming quality of the game is the music.

Bravo.

Speaking of music

Second one is from Virtue's Last Reward and was reused in ZTD.

one of the later megaman x's?

im guessing a sonic game. colors?

these really good, could not for the life of me find them, the style sounds familiar.

a touhou? i dont fucking know, sounds cool though

1 is a persona? two is a fire emblem?

cant figure it out, sounds like tower of heaven or seed

took me a while to figure out ffmpeg, turn out vista wasnt supported anymore, had to find an older version

this is a fun thread, im saving every song

also holy shit ffmpeg can do brstm's

...

Very wrong.

That's not it. I'll give a hint: Its a well regarded game on this website.

i cheated, all your shit still has metadata

you shouldn't have told him

Not at all. It's a remix of a C64

Honestly, I don't think anyone would guess what it actually is, so I'll just disclose that it's from a shitty Speed Racer game that had catchy music.

Anyways, the first one is obviously Minish Cap. I wish I could guess all the other ones you posted.

Muramasa the Demon Blade

Feels like Hitoshi Sakimoto circa Final Fantasy 12, but I couldn't tell you the game or track.

The overlapping woodwinds make it sound vaguely like Motoi Sakuraba, too.

was meant to go to
oops

...

Correct. But now i can't help but wonder if everyone is checking metadata, what a bummer.

Very close. Can't help but wonder if you checked the metadata too and you're being cautious.
Even if the style is indeed recognizable.

its only your music, just dont be sloppy next time

They were very easy to guess, so no hard feelings.
Cheeky cunt.

No, I'm just a Hitoshi Sakimoto fanboy.

ehh sorry, i doubt anyone will check unless they dont know anyway

I have a selection of four songs for you to find, one is very easy, the other two are average in difficulty, and one in particular is very hard. Have fun.

like this Evanescence-sounding song here.

Is the second one from Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden? It sounds familiar to me.

Tried to make it a bit easier with this batch.

2nd theme is Stronghold, the map editor I think. Last theme is also Stronghold :^)

Third one is Remilia's stage from MegaMari.

It's from Nanashi no Game.

First is select screen from Melty Blood.

You got the first one right, not so the other :^)

2/2, have more weeb music.

But it's Stronghold, you know. The Stronghold theme from Heroes 3 and I'm pretty sure you got the joke, but I'm autistic enough that I have to explain

I realized the joke after I clicked on new reply

But it's okay because you got trips.

First Melty Blood, third is… one of the Mario games?

Should be relatively easy ones here.

First is already guessed by someone else (but right), third is just wrong.

I just realised this guy has probably abandoned the thread.

By this guy you mean the OP?
I'm not replying to most of this because I'm 100% sure I've heard some the music here, but I can't really place where I've heard it before.

e

The guy I responded to.

I wish I knew what most of these songs were from. I like them.

eyy good job

third is recettear

This song plays in the area south of the Lumber Yard east of Varrock. Many a day spent running mahogany logs to be made into planks.

Few more from the same game as before. As another hint, the game had two composers. The first one has been mostly been stuck with working for a major Nintendo franchise since 2010 despite being freelance (to my knowledge), and the second wound up picking up composition work on the series the former had created music for with prior entries.

And where the fuck in ffmpeg? user, spoon feed me how to do it. I tried downloading the application and there's nothing to drag the video/music.

just use a video editor than can export things to mp4 and/or webm

not everybody is a nerd-burglar like OP, don't worry user. i don't know what a ffmpeg is either

I got to the point where I could type ffmpeg -i on command prompt and the version appears. Dunno where to upload the music after that or the image.

Jesus anons, learn to computer.
First cd to your desktop or wherever the files are kept then just type the filename where it says "drag to ffmpeg" or whatever.

i got it. Dunno where the file was being uploaded. Now I'm the same as this user
, it's on the thumbnail but the image doesn't show on video.

I was humming this all day during work today and never remembered the song until now. Easy because the game is mainstream.

...

Easy mode

Oh shit my nigger, excellent taste in vidya.
First one is 7.62 high calibre / hard life, not sure which since I never touched the vanilla game.
Second one is like Silent Storm but I'm not sure which one.

Well fuck me

Yes on both. First one is actually from E6 and reused in High Calibre (at least according to the file name in the game's data files).

...

Golden Sun

Yep.

Third one is Unreal

You got it right.

number 2 is umvc3, nova's theme

...

...

Mergo's wet nurse bloodborne?

Yeah. It's islam is the party religion9.

Whoops.

4th one is Tikal's theme from Sonic Adventure. I had to wrack my brains for that one.

Ayy, at least I got one.

Both correct.

Bonus track. It isn't vidya as far as I know but you should still recognize it.

...

Also hard modo because I doubt anyone else on the board played this game

nu2: Arkham City

...

Beethoven Symphony No.8 In F, Op.93 - 2. Allegretto scherzando
How the fuck am I supposed to remember a name like that without finding it in my playlist

fuck

balls to the walls super hard surprised if you guess one mode

last one is for you

3rd is Spyro 1, 4th is Eastern Mind

Because Beethoven's 8th symphony, 2nd movement is all you need to describe it. I'd have counted Civilization IV as a right answer too, since that's the OST it's in.

Never heard that one before. Sounds like neo-classicism so I'm going out on a limb and saying it's something by Stravinsky.

First one in that post is whatever Tony Hawk game Shrek was a guest character in.

Dvorak's New World Symphony, 4th movement

3rd one is Inami Temple/Rainy Turtloid's stage from Megaman X6

1st one is Area C from Megaman ZX

Correct on X6.

Correct.

Nope, Bach. Concerto No.1 in F major it's in the title metadata of the webm fuck

Forgot to say that you were wrong. Hint: it's a music/rhythm game.

1st is Toy Story 2, 4th is Rollercoaster Tycoon

also 3rd is probably The Sims 1

2nd is Yume Nikki

I thought it sounded kind of like Bach, but not quite. Fuck.

Yeah, correct.

The second one is Tetris on the CD-i

That last one sounds so familiar, but I can't think of it. I know the first two, but they have already been correctly guessed.

I'd kill to know where these are from.

Second one from Link: The Faces of Evil.

This is from Dragon Quest Monster for the Gameboy

when i hit the cmd .exe from explorer windows it closes instantly

how to stop that

also

yep

You mean you doubleclick ffmpeg.exe? You're supposed to run cmd.exe and drag ffmpeg into it.

>open with mpv because firefoxed stopped playing them for some reason
>shows me the name of the song right in the title field

nobody has even tried to guess this one yet :(

I must be the music god

He isn't replying but it's "lullaby for mergo"
I'm not a sonygger so I never played BB but in other words: CORRECT

Good Job

...

this is actually correct

How did you get the gif to loop?

...

HOW TO HIT ON WOMEN WITH 100% SUCCESS

3D Blast special stage

I guess that counts as an answer.

Here's one I doubt anyone will guess, because it technically was never finished/released.

...

The first one is from Parasite Eve. Dunno about the second one, and the third one is from a Castlevania, I think…maybe?

Ah, yeah, it's SCIV

Few more songs, different game than the last ones I'd uploaded.

Couldn't fit this in my last post. Same game as the prior two files.

man these are so good, ive tried looking through some pokemon spinoff games and some zeldas and paper marios i havent played. i think theyre from from a mystery dungeon game, but i cant prove it

pic unrelated

That is correct

Nope. The game they're from was outright third party through-and-through (IE: not a Nintendo owned IP, nor third-party developed off-branch like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is in regard to Spike Chunsoft developing it). Again, I only brought Nintendo up there because one of the two composers has seemingly gotten stuck composing for a certain Nintendo series since 2010 (barring a single 2013 PSP game), and as generally large group composition from what it seems (ranging from three to six people on the composition team, depending on the game in question).

Found another song I had been looking for from that game (bit hard to do when there's no official names for any of the tracks).

Hello there Idea-user. Just my opinion, but picking music from a game that has never seen a western release, or even a fan-translation (assuming a game is the sort that needs one; something like Rondo of Blood would be just fine as it's readily playable) strikes me as something of cheating for this sort of "guess the game" topic. I mean, the shit I'm posting isn't likely to get guessed either, but I'm at least posting things that people might (on a slim chance) have stood a chance to play without needing to know how to read runes first.

Who?

You trying to say you're not the user that always seems to bring up Idea no Hi/Day of the Idea when applicable to a subject?

...

...

...

Megalomachia 2

Terranigma

yep

...

...

...

...

Is the second one from nocturne?

Neotokyo

...

Yeah, It's only used for a brief period before all hell breaks loose.

X-Men: Children of the Atom by Capcom. Psylocke's theme.

I like that image and song.

Sounds like some sort of kirby remix.

Almost positive it's an Action rpg on the SNES.

RAMA

Wait fuck…Is this from a lewd game?

I swear I've heard this one and it's going to eat away at me if the answer isn't posted.

E.V.O. Search For Eden

That's right, good job user.

Might as well post another one too.

Plok!

That's the beach from plok

Yes

...

Kind of making me want to use images in my own "what" folder next time a thread like this comes around.

Mystery 4 : Final Fight

Yatagarasu, training mode theme

ye

That explains it.

That's the game, but no idea who you're talking about.

I dunno but it's probably the guy who does the bionic commando rearmed judging by his production style.

EYE

Few more from the same game as
.

Ah, thought you were him. Well, there's one user that brings it up often enough where feasible to do so for me to have taken notice. Certainly not like there aren't some other anons that are similarly seemingly devoted to a game/series or two as well here and there.

HURRY UP AND GUESS THIS!

I like this song

i would not be able to concentrate on playing mahjong with that music

Then what about this one,

Also I gave the name of this one last thread so anons will guess this easy

...

...

...

that's from demon souls, the credits theme IIRC

one and done

Give me a hint. I know this one, but it's been so long since I've heard it.

fug

...

MMO

Company of Heroes?

no

I don't know what this is but it sounds like something by Gust.

Aw shit, FlyFF.
It's been years man.

Y'know, you're probably right. The thing is– I can't find information on the composers for the specific game the music's from.
Here's more music, not from the same game, but the same genre of game.

This sounds familiar but I can't put my finger on it, but I probably never played it. Just like the E.V.O. one.
