Someone in the Emuparadise forums pointed out the upcoming Genesis mini as maybe the cause for removing Sega games. From what it sounds like, no c&d was requested, the site is now just scared shitless of more companies coming after them.

Plenty of older games where it's too expensive to warrant doing so at this point, or that have no official release in your language (and patched reproduction carts are also too fucking expensive for what they are). I mean, I like having actual copies of games I enjoy myself, but the libraries for some systems are in the shitter price-wise, so I don't bother with trying to acquire physical for them.

Also, speaking of emuparadise, anyone know why Okage is locked behind a registration wall? I thought it was mostly Wii games there that got that treatment, and for PS2 games (which Okage falls under) they seem to just leave huge pages for those available to all. At first I'd thought that maybe it was done for other PS2 games that had seen PS4 rereleases, but the likes of Wild Arms 3 and Dark Cloud 2 don't need registration to find either (both of which also have seen PS4 versions), so I have no clue why Okage's been given special treatment. Although, the first Dark Cloud seems wholly absent from there as well.

Really makes me a bit worried how this might affect the fan-translation scene. While a lot of groups might advocate buying and ripping from a legit Japanese copy, I'm sure they're aware of how rom files of them have been available already. Inability for the average person to get to the actual game files the patch needs could reduce desire to spend time working on translating games if not nearly as many people are going to be able to make use of the patch files (part of why I've worked to download game files for translations I've seen that are in the works, in case the base game files get pulled down).

I know flash isn't Roms but sites like Isozone doesn't even clean up their stuff very much except every odd 2-7 years, so even though they "technically" have a lot of shit a good chunk of it is permanently gone due to good old file corruption. Literally 5 year old complaints of file corruption that was never resolved. Of course that doesn't mean that stuff was necessarily good.
