Infamous 1 plays more like Uncharted with an open world and force lightning, Not bad but it's nothing that special. haven't played 2 so I can't speak for it.

If you like mediocre third person shooters pretending to be superhero games. Dunno about the sequels since the first one pissed me off too much to bother with the rest of the series.

Ubisoft has different studios, Steep is by Ubisoft annecy and it's their first game. There is strictly none of the ubi montreal shenanigans you are accustomed to.
The realization is pretty rough due to inexperience, and it's more about fucking around in mountains than a tight arcade game like SSX. There's also a lot of the XTREME SPORTS YEAH LET'S SHRED attitude that is prevalent where the game was developed in. It's very much a product of the region. I really like it as a result, but you might want to pirate it first because it's an odd one.
Here's what a challenge looks like, in this case you have to score not by tricks but by taking risks.

Infamous 2 pretty much just built on everything the first game did but with a very disappointing ending.

Second Son serves as little more than an additional iteration of the series with a forced diversity new MC and an example of next gen facial animation TECHNOLOGY.

The series deserved better than what it got, 1 was a modern classic in my opinion and the sequels didn't do it justice.

It has competent but not amazing gameplay and surprisingly good writing if you play as a good guy. The second game introduced better gameplay mechanics and had some interesting ideas, but overall the games aren't remarkable. They were must-owns if you had a PS3, but not system sellers; their biggest mark on gaming is starting the trend of having tweened artwork in place of a real cutscene, which allowed many AAA publishers to sink to new depths of corner cutting.

Great fucking music, though. A pity they divided the second game's OST into two halves for no reason.

I think Infamous is too rough to be called a modern classic (remember, it had the awful binary morality system every fucking game at the time had, and did nothing interesting with it), frankly. Infamous 2 has significantly better gameplay, but the roaming minibosses are pretty awful bullet sponges and you're still controlling a shooter with a controller, so eh.

Festival of Blood was one of the better expansion packs I've played, though. It was exactly the kind of goofy bullshit the main games needed a bit more of.

2 is really good, great gameplay with some really fun powers. Most of the characters and story is bad but there's some parts of it that are actually pretty great. 1 isn't that fun to play but has some cool character and story concepts. Second Son is just shit.

There's definitely a lot of parts that play similarly to the typical cover based TPS but I'd say you're usually more free than that. Plus the regenerating health system is balanced out somewhat by being able to run and refill at an electrical supply.

Also, with regards to the morality system, 2 at least somewhat justifies it since you end up with very different powers, some unique sidequests, and a very different ending depending on whether you're good or evil. It certainly doesn't make the choices any more interesting, but it gives you a decent reason to replay the game.

It was one of the biggest wasted potentials of all time. They went with one of the most potentially interesting superpowers imaginable and then gave you the bog standard TPS loadout with a blue lighting skin. You could have been flying around on trash can lids like static shock or controlling people through the electricity in their nervous system or some shit but instead you get fucking lightning grenades, a lightning rocket, a lightning sniper rifle, a lightning shotgun that at least had the ability to repel metal objects making it the single most interesting ability in the game which is pretty appalling and your typical r2 lighting bullets. It even had a fucking cover system like every other third person shooter of the time, it didn't even try to be a superhero game.

All the cover system shit is pretty much completely obsolete in 2, it's there but there's never a good reason to use it and the game definitely isn't balanced around it.
