Did modding ever really get anywhere with the PC version? I picked it up on the PC release, got super into the game and dumped about 300 hours into it in an alarmingly short period of time before I finally got bored and stopped playing.

One of the better ports in existence. The game is made for 30FPS though, so it just doesn't feel right at 60FPS.
Personally, I recommend switching between 30 and 60.
30 if you're running Warrior or spellcaster.
60 if you're running strider, archer.
I don't recommend 60 as magick archer or mystick knight though.

Just don't cast any Malestrom spell more than 3 times in a row, this includes the computer using it. It still fucks up the game something harash.

As for mods, mostly reskins , rebalancing, the usual MORE GRAFFFIXfaggot stuff and the rest are essentially cheatcodes. I was honestly expecting someone to mod the Berserk stuff back into the game.
They did it mostly, but you need several mods, a script and cheat engine to actually use it and even then, your pawn will corrupt and look glitchy if you use it.

I played DD and was promised a fun action game where you could climb all over your enemies to fuck them up, with a big fuck-off dragon to chase after. What I got was a lukewarm gear-check game where the promising combat mechanics were never used to their full potential, with a disappointing amount of recycled content.

The combat was fun as fuck, the exploration was ok, the pawn system was great, the enemies varied from decent to amazing, the music was amazing, the voice acting was good, the story was surprising, the writing was meh and the visuals were decent. All of these don't make DD an "above average" game, it makes DD a very good game.

I don't see Co-op on that list. You know, the one thing that absolutely fucking everybody thought the game needed since there are abilities in the game that clearly require the presence of another person and not a braindead AI with only 2 fucking commands.
