FF6 vs FF7

Which was better? Which is more cancerous? Which one actually deserves its praise and which is just plain weebshit?

Both are good for different reasons. It's the fanbases that ruin it for everyone. The maeria system was fun to play with in FF7 and I personally loved FF5 over FF6 but I like the job system. Same reason why I like the battle system of FFX-2.

Both are better than this thread.

7, 8 and 9 were all good any opinion otherwise is shit because its not mine

So… Why are so many dattaminning threads about FF around lately?

Squareenix is shit
What knowledge do you expect to gain?

They're almost the same game.

Why which shitty, episode based, real time combat remake to produce next of course! By your dubs, I swear that Dragon Quest is the only thing keeping them alive.

This. 7 is just slightly less buggy 6.

Also, the patrician choice is Tactics.

I read somewhere that Squeenix dropped the episode based idea to instead make one whole release not sure if it was true.

6 is shit, 7 is god tier.

If you've ever let fans of anything stop you from enjoying it, you're one stupid nigger.

If you've ever let fans of anything stop you from enjoying it, you're one stupid nigger.

Better? 6
cancerous? 6

Chrono Trigger.

5 is still the best, too bad the mobile port is somehow worse than the GBA version. At least the GBA version has a patch to de-assify the music.

So it's OK to like My Little Pony: Frienship is Magic because it's an OK slice of life show that happens to not be made in Japan, even though bronies are the worst fandom to exist since Sonic? Has Blundertale or Steven Jewniverse or something surpassed MLP's autism and cancer enhancement quotient? I haven't been paying attention since I don't watch any TV at all and don't visit anywhere but Holla Forums and /tg/.

VI was infinitely better. 7 just had the 'wow factor' with the summon animations.

Actually, I remembered an even better example, fans getting in and fucking around with the franchise. Sometimes you get good things, like Sonic Mania. Sometimes the people running the show just ask the fandom for some input, but then do their own thing using the existing lore, like back in the fucking usenet days with Beast Wars. Sometimes though, fans are just total cancer and fuck up everything from the fan club, to the comics, to even voting for new thing, like the modern Transformers fandom.

Fans can ruin everything, trust me. That's one of the three reasons we can't fucking talk about Blundertale too (the other reasons are is it's mediocre and there's noting to even talk about anymore)

I think a lot of what made 7 appealing was the "wow factor". FMV cut scenes, a world that seemed bigger than ever before (was it really I don't know for sure), other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Yes, SU got a fan killed just because he or she drew a character not the way Tumblr wanted.

Did the kid actually succeed in committing suicide? Or did they just attempt it and fuck up? Or is this something else entirely?

Steven Jewniverse has also had the show's fans harass the creators of the show even sending death threats over an episode that they did not like because the message that morons like Lily Peet completely misinterpreted the point of the episode and thought that the episode's message was "punching a Nazi makes you a Nazi." This episode was about Steven meeting a character named Bismuth which Tumblr thought represented radical SJWs. There has been other times of Tumblr harassing the show's creators over trivial shit but this is the one example I remember. The fans later succeeded in getting one of the crew's twitter accounts deleted or locked. MLP and Sonic may be worse in terms of OCs and fetishes but SU fans are worse in terms of how they behave online.

Of course, why wouldn't it be okay? As long as you aren't forcing me to watch it, it's never going to be an issue.
That doesn't matter at all, and isn't going to impact your enjoyment of the show unless you specifically go out of the way to interact with those people.

Fans can't "fuck with" a franchise, only the creators can.
This goes back to my second point that you're going out of your way to interact with people that you clearly don't like.
This comes down to the creators again.
Again, this is a decision made by the creators.
No, they really can't. The only thing that can "ruin" something is your neuroses about what others think of you because you think you're being associated with those "undesirables" for enjoying X or Y.
We had plenty of great discussions about Undertale around release. Eventually interest faded (as it always does), and shitposters capitalized on the lack of quality discussion to try and be as obnoxious as possible (as they always do), before getting bored and moving on to shitpost about other things.

Bismuth once again proves to be the best at everything.

Alright, in my last argument for fanbases being the worst thing ever, furries. Do I even need to say anything else?

I'd rather be a Narutard than a SU fan.

It's just a degenerate fetish like any other. Again, you don't need to interact with any of those people at all, thus they should have no bearing on your enjoyment of said degenerate fetish. What makes your dick hard is what makes your dick hard.

I'm a big fan of Domino's Pizza. Around here, getting a large 3 topping pizza for $7.99 with their carryout deal is a ridiculously good $/fast food ratio, and their pizza tastes great. I'm sure there are a lot of really disgusting niggers that enjoy domino's, but you know what? I don't choose to go out of my way to interact with them, so I don't give a fuck. The pizza doesn't taste any worse because there's a bunch of undesirables that also enjoy it.

Well, too bad, furries are already here on this board and interacting with you, but it's OK because you don't have to interact with them. Oh wait they don't give you a choice. Either you never visit a thread about a video game that has any animal characters, or you have to face furries. And avoiding animal-related stuff doesn't always work either because furries are especially cancer sometimes and just post furshit whenever they want. You see how this works? People will come in and be retarded no matter what, and if you can ignore them great. Most people can't do that when they're constantly in their face, derailing conversations to talk about retarded shit, and are generally the worst kind of low quality posters. You see the problem we run into here? Or do you just suggest never interacting with other people who play video games? That works in general, but I'd hate to see a game with a cancerous fandom be online heavy/exclusive. To use your Dominos example, would a nigger yelling and chimping out ruin your pizza pickup trip? Maybe, maybe not, it depends. To rule out cancerous fanbases as "doesn't matter, don't need to interact with them" in probably naive or involves a certain amount of patience on your part.

I genuinely think that SU it's worst in general than Sonic or MLP. At least the other two have remediable qualities but SU it's just plain bad; terrible plot, shit characters, horrible drawing and animation and of course the fanbase if just one of the things wrong with the internet. I cannot wait the show to be cancelled or ended so I never hear about it again in my life

Why don't they want to do a HD remake of ff8?

People complain about the filler in Naruto but SU's filler is way worse. Almost every single episode nothing happens.

Because 8 is kinda shit, kinda broken (in both the good and bad way), and the only really good thing is Triple Triad and they're released that stand alone and in other thing(s) already. Besides, do you want modern Square Enix to fuck up 8 too?

Can you fuck up shit?

Shitposters will shitpost. It doesn't matter what "fandom" they're pretending to be from at the moment. You need to stop letting others dictate your enjoyment of things. Try a healthy dose of I don't give a fuck, and I promise you'll be happier for it.
Of course not. I don't leave the house without my M&P9c w/ that lovely Apex trigger and 12+1rds of 147gr Gold Dots, and I'm in Florida, so Stand Your Ground is in full effect. I wish a nigger would try something.

6 and 7 were both good. I'd give the edge to 7 though because it was more explorable.

all final fantasy fags are cancerous though who dress up like the characters, think sephiroth is the ULTIMATE villain, and think Cloud looks badass.

Fair enough, I'm slower to anger than most people here, but I do still get annoyed when it happens all the time with great consistence. And don't come crying to me when all the creators of your favorite thing are replaced by cancerous fans, though. I guess that's a better fate than being killed by EA, or having some other company buy them out and turn them into a walking corpse with none of the same creators in charge.

Even shit things have some redeeming qualities, sometimes. But when shit gets fucked, the good stuff becomes shit and the stuff that's shit becomes shittier.

Can you really call it filler when the show has no plot at all, not even a narrative excuse? The whole thing is dead air, and that's why the ratings are in the toilet.

IX is the best one

That depends? Are you a twelve year old girl?

All FF games are shit except for 2. Its the only good one. Smt is the supirior series.

Reminder that all of your tastes are shit tier and the best final fantasy is Dirge of Cerberus

Each of them is atrocious, linear and with shallow combat and classes.

5 and the Tactics games a best because of the job system. 3 is kinda eh despite introducing jobs, 4's DS remake gets hyper-fun once you can start mixing and matching jobs through those items (especially being able to get back Darkness as Paladin Cecil), 6, 7 and 8 bore me to tears, 9 having each character be a mishmash of jobs or an expansion to an existing job if they're just the one (ie Freya as a Dragoon can do quite a bit more than any other Dragoon up to that point), X letting you get every job's skills on every character if you're patient/autistic enough, and X-2's battle system in general which unfortunately was wasted on idolshit.

Also I'm fucking buttmad that FF7 and on had Dragoon characters (ie Cid) and then relegated a Jump to a fucking limit break, and the same goes for FF8 with Blue Magic. Fucking why? Why relegate skills that aren't powerful enough to be finishers or cinematic to something you can only whip out every once in a great while? It's fucking baffling, especially with Kimahri in FFX combining the two problems, and Ronso Rages are fucking useless on the whole because of their power suggesting they should be available as normal combat moves. Why is Jump a fucking limit break?

FF1's not linear at all though. You can go right to Bahamut and class up if you can survive the dungeon dive to get the rat tail.

he's right you know

FF6 (along with Chrono Trigger) was the culmination and apex of 2D JRPs. Well, it would have been if it wasn't an unbalanced buggy mess. Still, it remains top tier of its genre, and the archetypal example of a purebred 2D JRPG.

FF7, while also an unpolished mess in many ways, broke new ground in the world of 3D JRPGs, and changed the entire trajectory of roleplaying games in the US and, likely, much of the world. Prior to its release, the most advanced 3D JRPG on the market was the original Wild Arms. Nobody who grew up after the release of FF7 can ever truly understand the impact it had and continues to have on the entire video game market.

FF7 wins this by default. Not because the game itself was bad at all but, like actual cancer, it grew out of control due to its popularity, and the expanded FF7 universe is the prime rib of cancer.

They both deserve the praise they get, and neither one was weebshit on release. FF7 was fine until Dirge of Cerberus continuity.

Don't forget one of the writers mouthbreathing about connecting FFX to FF7 through X-2. Major NPC was named Shinra.

That's the moment your thread became not worth responding to.

I want to enjoy FF6 but basically every jRPG on the SNES has been retroactively ruined for me due to all the shit people have put out with rpgmaker

You could try arguing against such a view or something wild like that instead of the "i'm not listening your thread is shit" thing you've got going.

Fuck, I know that feel. They look so damn generic now.

I am biassed since I dont know what the hell makes ff7 good, but I'd say each one is good on different aspects as it happens between any other 2 ff games

And I'm sure at least some of the people who love to draw inflation porn of ponies and sonic ocs are also big into ff fandom for example. If you let other people stop you from enjoying things you are either mentally retarded or a teenager

Is there even an FF fandom anymore?

I'm coming at that from the opposite direction. I used to use RPGmaker constantly when I was a little kid and had no idea where 99% of the sprites I used were from. Going through a game like Treasure of the Rudras or FE4 years later and seeing the actual sources of the chipsets and animations was like a blast back into my childhood.

I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAHAHAHAHHAHAH FUUUCCKKK YYEEE BBRROOO

what the fuck is this comparison

FFVI being the best is kind of a meme, to be honest. It's got a memorable story and fun characters and that's why everyone forgets that the gameplay is very, very poorly balanced in typical square fashion. Patches do help with that a little though.

these don't look like final fantasy tactics so its shit

If you do ever decide to try out FF6, I recommend a fanmade overhaul called Brave New World. Story and everything remains the exact same, they just rebalanced how all the stats and mechanics work, and it makes the game 1000% better.

I've finished FF6 so many damn times, it was great. FF7 i never made it past the first disc and felt like I was forcing myself to play a game that wasn't fun.

The LGBT portion of the RWBY community is currently having a meltdown because the season 4 OST included a love song that named no names and has no weight on the canon at all, but the title is BMBLB, and "Bumblebee" is the name of a lesbian pairing that the creator confirmed years ago isn't going to happen.

Faggots whining about "representation" are the kid that cries because he didn't get a present on somebody else's birthday.

FF6 was the last truly good FF game until    XV

I feel like FF6's cast was slightly too big, there were a lot of characters that I didn't give a shit about. FF7's cast feels more appropriate and I know each character it bit better.

This is a huge stumbling block for JRPGs in general, even moreso than average media. Characters that don't grab your attention with their identities. Persona is a good example of a company getting better at it. I could not manage to summon a single solitary fuck about anyone in P3, P4's cast at least felt like people, and I would gladly hang out with pretty much anyone from P5.

Some of the character you where not meant to give a shit about they are just different (job) classes of warrior to choice from. Gogo, Umaro, Mog for example. But all the main characters are great. Even the red headed step child Gau!

u heartless bastard

choose*

the only /k/ approved beverage besides recycled innawoods piss. I also concur with your Jump criticism.

I have a lot of respect for 7 not only because I was a kiddo back in '97 but also because it holds up really well if you're accustomed to JRPGs.

You play as a dude who is brainwashed due to The Thing cells in his body, which are secretly devouring all life on the fucking planet. The first real thing he does once he adopts his dead best friend's persona is join a group of ecoterrorists and lay the groundwork to fug his hawt martial-artist childhood friend. The cast of characters all work out their shit in the process of fighting the megacorp that doesn't know just how much its helping The Thing by trying to exploit it. Edgy and very 90s.

The game mechanics are fun, if repetitive, until you get OP (goddamn it Square) and realize that Materia is more of a burden than a help.
It's got a solid straightforward plot (once the 'twists' are spoiled) with rounded characters and interesting settings. Cyberpunk/biopunk/fantasy is a rare genre combination that few games have really pulled off with any conviction. Fuck Cait Sith though, a terrible fucking character that never should have been in the game why would you let a remote controlled drone join your party without knowing who was operating it? Retarded.

I'm actually looking forward to the remake because with a better combat system and some polish FF7 would be flawless and even more impactful than it was already. Too bad it already did its thing and has to compete with its own influence 20 years later. I also hope they give us a better ending, FF7's ending was bullshit.

FF6 is acclaimed by diehard fans and I don't doubt their taste on it. Haven't played it. It did the industrial/magic combo that would be elaborated upon in 7. Tetsuya Nomura did monster designs in 6 as he cut his teeth in the company and later proved his worth with the art design in 7; I can't hate Nomura from the before-time, he did good work.

FF7 is the most cancerous just because of all the lore-rape and half-baked bullshit in-universe shit created afterwards. Advent Children is fanservice and created the downward spiral for Tifa's tiddie size. The fandom is pretty bad but there are worse.

You can bet they will remake FFVIII and then slap a real ending DLC based on the Squall's Dead™ theory.

I love how silly the stories for these games are, I feel like if you don't buy into the melodrama they can be good comedies, especially with 8

In my opinion, VIII's story is fine at least until the end of Disc 1, but after that, it becomes your average cliche JRPG shitshow. It's like everything else after was written by another person.

You don't even get summons until after leaving Midgar you cunniving faggot. That's 6-10 hours into the game.

It took me 3 and I took my time.

You could pretty easily miss Choco-Mog, which wasn't special graphically. The first one you can't miss isn't until Junon, which could be 6-10 hours if you wandered around/did the side activities available.

You see user, this is why we need safespaces that ban people talking about things that we don't like :%)
