I don't think there is anything censored at all. There is one quest maybe but I don't think so. I mean, there is a Drauk (Female Only Lizard Warrior) that is described as "Talking like a man" and there is a Seedling in search of cute girls. Some of the male Seedlings do talk about finding cute girls too.

Game was $10 off days after release so picked it up myself. The only thing of notice in translation is some of the residents using some colloquiallisms and slang. Nothing meme-level or Whedon-grade "quirky", but enough to wonder how the Japanese was, like if the girl went "Kakkoii~☆" or so.

I can't hardly put the damn game down. The comparisons to Fantasy Life are apt, though I feel the combat is a little more involved and obviously you don't have the crafting classes, instead you have town management.

It becomes a cycle of going out, finding supplies for the shops, stocking the shops, taking the money that the shops made, and using that money to grow crops, or make new weapons, or build more shops, and all the while, every day, more visitors come who have some easy task to fulfill to make them residents. What's great is that the game seems to have a really solid grasp on making things convenient for the player - right around the time that restocking each shop individually becomes tedious, a resident will show up who will let you autostock with the press of a button. When you have opened enough areas and have enough shops that it starts getting tedious to keep them all fully stocked, the game introduces exploration parties that you can send out to get supplies from various regions, gardeners to handle the gardening, et cetera.

That and you have an unlimited scroll of town portal and plentiful teleportation points, and if you look at an item needed for stocking, the game will tell you where you can find it. There's also little details, like how the world is interconnected and you can even see your oasis from the third overworld area, despite it being much lower down than the first or second areas.

Overall, it's not very hard at all, especially if you stay on top of your weapon crafting, but it's addicting, comfy as hell, and I've been playing it almost nonstop.

This game is the most Souls-like Animal Crossing experience you'll ever get this side of Harvest Moon. The villager interactions aren't as in-depth as Rune Factory and Animal Crossing, but the dungeons are top notch. It's closer to Zelda than Harvest Moon.

For the Seedlings? I prefer the sword but I always take a crossbow cuz fuck flying enemies. As a whole I prefer the Twin Sword (Lagora)

I like the hammer personally, its big enough that you can hit flying enemies from the ground and you can break boulders. Shame seedlings cant use the hammers.
Worst weapon is the wands.

Yeh, Seedlings. You could always knock down flying enemies with green gale and slap them around, but crossbow is handier.

Hammers are so nice! It never gets old to just send enemies flying. Wands are pretty shit, yeah, even with all the magic boosting stuff you can pile on. Some late/endgame wands have some neat effects on them, but the damage output is weak as fuck. Only reason to take them is for the bonuses, and just take control of your other party members non-stop.

also need wands for puzzles but thankfully you can just have a companion carry one around for that.

Also I really like the spinners/bolas.

I like wands. Pulling off charge shots that deal 170-220 damage is my fetish. I used to dislike the straight wands, but then I learned that they can hit the enemy twice if they don't get knocked back. That, and being equipped with multiple magic cast speed wand/equip means I can go in-out with casting quick.

wands do take time of getting used to, and some are just absolutely terrible (curved wands especially, even if they have the highest range).

Bolas are incredibly hilarious if you can get enemies to a corner and spam X.

Bro, what? The fully charged spike spell wand hits twice at the end of its cast for tons of damage. It'll easily two-shot anything weak to magic.

I mean you charge up and it does damage in a small AoE. Meanwhile you can do the same damage with a sword heavy attack and without charging up.

Maybe I just haven't gotten far enough into the game to find the good staves.

Was anyone surprised at how the Chaos died? It has been quite a while since I've seen a big-bad go out so peacefully. In addition, did Esna really die or did she become the weather to revive the desert?

I'm pretty sure the chaos didn't die, just appeased, Esna just kinda blew up over everything to revive the land. Remember how she said she was the last of her kind? I guess now if the chaos comes back, everyone is fucked

honestly not much. Once the game ends, you unlock more travellers to recruit, some more weapons, and the ability to fight special enemies/bosses in labyrinths if you use all gold plates. If you want to learn more about the world feel free to get them, but no new areas are unlocked upon story completion.

I like it too, but later on you get a rainbow buff and you can revive mid dungeon twice and you have a lot of health. I honestly wish the game would have stayed hard as balls.

Well, the rainbow extra HP is tied to how happy your residents are, you could ignore them to reduce it. Sadly, the game is too easy. I can't talk for quad gold Labyrinths though but the main story is fairly simple.

even with the extra healthbar, it still usually takes 2-3 hits to completely deplete it though. How are you guys tanking them so well?

By not getting hit. Most monsters are easy to telegraph. THat being said, if they gang on you, well, that is another story.

It's punishing as fuck early on, gets easier as soon as you get the rainbow meter thing, and then gets harder again when you encounter groups of enemies where it's difficult to aggro one at a time and you're forced to spend most of the fight dodging attacks instead of attacking yourself. But at no point in the future does it become as "fuck you" as your first outing at lv1.

Dodging and moving outta the way, or having a Serkah in your party for reduced damage. There's also this post-game sword and a wand that reduce party damage.

I was so used to games autosaving due to playing them just before I started playing EO, and died suddenly, setting me back 2 hours.
I love the game so far, but holy shit is it a turn off to sit through those long cutscenes again.

Found a funny little glitch with those unique octopus enemies at the end of Canyon Labyrinth. If a party member gets sucked up and you kill it while they're inside of it, they'll fall endlessly during the cutscene when the exit opens. They'll return to normal once you regain control again, but it is pretty silly.

By time locks I mean if you want more dewadems, explorers to gather materials, and farming you have to wait in game days to get anything. This wouldn't be too bad if you could skip days without having to wait for night or if the end game wasn't only boring labyrinths.

Oh, that yeah, the game pretty much ends with the story. I think they added the Labyrinths at the last minute just to have a Post-Game. I suppose, shit post-game is better than no post game? A shame really, I still think the game is good enought. Hell, in an interview the Dev says that people should take their time to complete the story and rather focus on Side-Quests and shit

WELL; there are some Female only lizards IRL but there is no evidence for either way. We only see Female Drauk and males are not even mentioned at all but they are not disproved either, so it both ways are possible. It is a gray area with no answer, at least for now.

Anyone else feel like the movement speed is painfully slow? Just walking to the other end of town feels like such a drag.

Once you beat the the story rolls but you are returned to a point in the story before you enter the last dungeon and continue with the post game.

Finished it. Game was okay. I like the combat, but the flow from exploration - combat - warp back home - repeat is kinda bland. Bosses weren't too hard either, if you're not just trying to blindly slash at the weak points.

Not saying it's a bad game, but I really would not compare it to Zelda.

From what I've seen it doesn't have a huge selection of unique items that need to be used to solve dungeons, and dungeons themselves are far less intricate. Plus the game focuses heavily around returning to and maintaining the oasis, whereas in Zelda you're constantly moving forward into unknown territory. Combat feels a lot more different as well, comparing it to 3d Zelda games.

Weird, I would. Instead of unique items that help you progress, it's character abilities. A large portion of this game is very, very similar to Zelda.

The Drauk couldn't be female-only like the real world female lizard species because there's obvious genetic variation between them.

The female lizard species have no genetic variation beyond random mutation; all eggs they lay are effectively clones of themselves, therefore either there are male Drauks somewhere or it's the fantasy crossbreeding deal where they have to get males from other species to propagate.

I played it non-stop and beat it. I still feel kinda meh about the game. I wish the musical score was better, and you could change the style of your "root-like hair". A lot of the outfits they give you are just recolors of existing ones, and the strongest weapon type end-game is swords (haven't unlocked all the weapons, but this is what I've seen so far).
