I last played Fo4. It's shit. Only reason I come back to it is with mods the gunplay is actually somewhat decent.
Unfortunately, the enemies are all shit. So is everything else about the game.

I tend to lean towards sneaky-sniper types. But that's only because combat in 3 and NV was a bit of a pain, so I preferred when I didn't have to deal with any major fights.
Otherwise, going full shotgun assault, especially in NV, was amazing. One thing I'll give to 4, the mod what lets you be able to knock off people's limbs is an absolute godsend. Nothing like taking out someone's legs. Sad more games don't let you do that.

The guy explained it as you should be firing mini nukes out of any gun, or maybe it only some guns. I did the glitch like the guys says (I had to plug in a controller to do it), but instead of firing mini nukes it just lets me use ammo from another gun, which is useful in it's own right i could uses 50.mm ammo instead of regular ammo for any gun.

But i'm just curious about this glitch. maybe I need the gun he has in the video but i haven't got it yet.

OK found out what I was doing wrong, can't be normal mini nukes, it has to be special ammo mini nukes if you want to fire it out of any gun.

Don't know what you are smoking but I just finished a 100% playthrough of Fallout 2 and it clocked in at 44 hours.

New vegas is actually longer with all the DLC n shit, Fallout 4 is basically 16 hours of actual quests and "infinite" quests.

New Vegas really depends on how you want to play it. A lot of old RPGs have that "finish in 10 minutes when you know where everything is" type of playthrough but New Vegas actually gives you Yes Man which lets you finish even a fresh playthrough pretty quickly.

Yeah, no. It's still a shit game. I am getting more enjoyment out of looking at my old screenshots than I got out of playing the game when I made them.

One thing that bugs me about fallout 4 is how they implemented the power armor.

I've never played 2 but in 1 finding a suit of power armor was hard. There were only like four suits in the entire game. In 3 or NV you needed a special perk to use it, even thought BoS and Enclave all wore power armor and you could just loot it from the millions of corpses towards the end of the main quest. In fallout 4, you get a set of power armor, and can use it, from the get-go along with a fucking minigun. You can get a second set of power armor by joining the brotherhood of steel right away, which is a t-60 set, effectively making the t-51 and t-45 sets totally useless. There are also a shitload of partial sets of armor you can find everywhere. You can't walk 5 minutes in any direction without walking into a derelict military checkpoint with a suit in a truck, or a raiding party with a powered up warlord.

Power cores were supposed to make the power armor more balanced, but you find them everywhere. You can find so many cores you could probably play the whole game in power armor if you wanted.

After a few hours i remember having like four or five power armor suits, which is ridiculous. Power armor is supposed to be this very complicated and expensive piece of pre-war equipment and they're just littered all over Boston for some reason. That would be like if the US military just dumped M1 Abrams tanks everywhere for people to take and drive around.

I like the idea of power armor functioning more like a vehicle or the world's tiniest mecha, unlike how Fallout 3 and New Vegas just treat it like an outfit. I also enjoy customizing its parts. It reminds me of Heavy Gear and Warhammer 40k. But the way they implemented it feels like they were just looking for a bullet point to put on the back of the box, like every other gimmick in this game. The fucking cover of the game is a suit in a workshop.

One thing I wish they did was make the suit feel more cozy on the inside. If you have a full suit that's airtight (no raider parts) you should be able to hear cooling fans, life support sounds, and any noise coming from outside the suit should be muffled a bit. You should feel totally encased inside of a protective shell. The hud should be more opaque so that it looks like a UI for an old mech game like pic #2 and #3, but obviously not as cluttered.

I certainly did, until I dropped it midway through. Power armor being how it was (enterable, walkable badassery) was the only reason I picked it up. With power cores were rarer, lasted much longer, and would be good if there was a high variety of knock off armors, and if all power armor in general was rare. I would set it up so the armor frames and military parts would be super rare, with shit-tier components being the common stuff. Maybe I'll pick it up again with some nonpaid power armor mods for variety.
I also support on the fact of having been a soldier. The wife being able is because of MUH EQUALITY. That is all. Would be great if a) random raiders trying to use it without that training could randomly get chewed up by the servos when trying to do too much and b) the same happens to your character if you play wife, just balance it by getting shop discounts everywhere because titties.

The male MC is explicitly said to have been a non-power-armoured combatant in the war. Why they wrote this into the backstory is anyone's guess, seeing as they could have just written him in as a power armour trooper and completely side-stepped the retconning issue with power armour training.

At a minimum, T-60 shouldn't exist, suits, power cores, and components should be extremely rare and very expensive, most of the mods shouldn't exist and some weapons should only be usable at all if you are wearing power armour. As a trade-off, it should also be made more resilient to small-arms fire.

Ok so I got the classic fallout pack and new vegas during the steam sale and was wondering if there were certain stats or builds i should avoid before i play the first fallout, having never played it before.

PA should have been much rarer, to the point were getting a full suit would have been something special. Or, much wider used and modified by the postwar population. Not just as armor, but also as vehicles, and construction- and farm-equipment. They could have done a lot of cool things, if they went with the 50's car theme that was hinted at with the Atom Cats.

Also T60 should have been straight up postwar BOS armor.

I played the PS2 version. I don't remember it being as bad as everybody says. It's an action adventure with some light RPG elements. That's all.

Character creation should have been:

A) traditional where the player makes up their own past and you completely discard the prologue, starting the game when you wake up from the vault. This gives you the most roleplay flexibility.

B) gone ALL the way with it and made both sexes play radically differently Mount&Blade-style with fully fleshed out backstories that make serious changes to character interactions like access to certain conversations and factions (eg: huz is physically stronger and more of an ex-military doomsday prepper type so gets buffs in weapons skills and survival, wife isnt taken as seriously in the wasteland but has better science and barter, can use spouse's money, some characters only really open up to one of the sexes) This option totally discards custom roleplay in exchange for some new game+ potential (even though complete character customization probably gives you more new game+ potential than 2 pre-designed runs).

or C) More of a hybrid option: Both backstories are nonexistent other than the fact that both character options are part of a couple and one dies, keeping only the mount&blade-style sex-based gameplay differences. This gives you almost as much freedom as option A while giving the sex choice some gameplay and story significance, which isn't seen in a lot of games these days.

Settlement system was here since F3. Look up RTS mod. Once upon a time someone realize placing items using camera was bullshit.
So they allowed you to move items after initial placement, while moving around to look at it from different directions.

Plus they fucked up radiant quests. Because why the fuck I should do settlement quest when I want to do one. It didn't stopped there also. In Fo4 you could get clear 'x' dungeon 3 times in the row.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Throwing spears and throwing knife spears are ridiculously overpowered if you run a melee build. They have high damage, are common as shit, and are affected by the piercing strike perk. Loose cannon and built to destroy as your traits, Stonewall, ninja, Heave Ho, and Piercing Strike as perks make you a nigh unstoppable character with throwing weapons.

No they're not, in fact the reason why it's so nonviable to do a throwing weapon build is because of how rare they are coupled with being unable to pick them up after throwing them.

I wish there was a military sim-RPG hybrid version or mode of Fallout made by competent developers with a new engine.

Probably the main book in the Firekeeper saga worth reading, and a definite favorite book of mine (later ones were weaker, and the 4th on started getting weird). Main character is Firekeeper, a wild child who's probably who knows fuck all about humans and human culture before she's dragged into the plots, intrigue and scheming surrounding the succession of Hawk Haven. While she has honed senses and reflexes from her life in the wilderness, it's blatantly clear that she can't do much more than ape the customs of the courts, and she's constantly underestimating just how dangerous humans can be, much to the consternation of her keeper (and the other protagonist) Darien. It's a story with lots of scheming and intrigue, if you're fond of that sort of thing.

From a young age the protagonist has been endlessly fascinated by how living creatures work and longs to learn about the physiology and habits of dragons (which exist in this world but are unintelligent beasts that everyone knows would sooner eat you than anything else). Later in life, she ends up leaving with her husband on an expedition to learn more about the dragons in the frozen north, and the meat of the story kicks off.

Thanks user, I was deliberating starting up a new game in NV but I wasn't sure what mods to get started on.. I normally just scroll through the nexus top 100 where mods are concerned, but I do usually try to find something in particular as well, and not just wanting to download something for the sole reason that it's popular, such as Project Nevada.

I also remember seeing a mod of a woman in FO:NV wearing some functional armored bodysuit, which I believe was from a metal gear game? Was it 2 or 3..? Haven't played FO4 since launch and am going to attempt to inflict it upon myself now that mods can fix it. Anyone care to give some suggestions on mods that improve the shoot and loot aspects? I am also curious about any first person immersive mods, shotgun weapons and ammo mods, and anything that adds more tactical gadgets, utilities, vision modes, and remote weaponry. Pic is what I want to try to turn the game into and the tits are already covered.

Mods cannot fix it, and I would advise you do not inflict it upon yourself. If you have a post apoc craving play Fallout 2 or 1.5 instead.

I almost believe that. 4 is a game plagued by feature creep. The game has so many systems, but they're almost all shallow and uninteresting. If Todd actually did his fucking job and culled features and held the team back from acting on every whim they had maybe it wouldn't be such a disorganized mess.

That's how I played the game and that's the best way to play in my opinion. I just went from town to town. Doing jobs for caps(and exp) but with the caveat that I'd kill everyone who insulted me. This resulted in becoming a hero to the the people of the game's settlements(because most of them are friendly towards travelers) and a scourge to all the game's factions(Because most of them tell you every time you see them that you're a nuisance). And with New Vegas's greatest feature over Fallout 3(the ability to kill the vast majority of NPCs, even main quest NPCs), it was a great roleplaying experience and makes me wish that Bethesda would have stuck with the precedent set by New Vegas.
But it seems that Todd got super butthurt that Obsidian made a game that got more glowing praise than 3 and decided to make 4 deviate even further from the classic Fallout formula out of spite and jealousy. Which is a damn shame.

I'm unironically playing FO4 since I like the gunplay, but the weapon variety is shunted (two shotguns? And the better one is one you get early on? WTF?) and the vanilla quests are so God damn stale. As someone on YouTube put it, the depth of these quests all boil down to just putting neat ideas on a piece of paper and putting it into a lottery box. They don't even explore the possibilities, or flesh them out.

I think New Vegas' writing was pretty decent, especially for the companions and the DLC. The same cannot be said for 4.

Don't mod it too much first playthrough. It's actually a good game. You'll just want some bugfixes like YUP (community bugfix patch) and Unofficial Patch Plus, maybe Uncut Wasteland if you want a bit of a director's cut version. Also I highly suggest NVAC (New Vegas Anti-Crash, does what it says) and New Vegas Stutter Remover (both require New Vegas Script Extender).

Using a pulse pistol I get like 6 shots. With 10 luck every shot is a critical and because of Jinxed everyone but you is tripping and losing their ammo/misfiring.
I can take out enclave soldiers in less than a single turn. I cleared out the oil rig with barely a scratch on me.
