then the series was a reboot of sorts and by that time i had no patience for trigger shit any more. Inou Battle succed, kkl sucked after the first half, kiznavier was so bad nobody remembered it even happened after the first episode, and luluco is awful, but inferno cop was cool, but its clear they had no ideas to grow from that.

Inou battle was pretty good, for a LN adapation. There's only so much you can do in 12 episodes for something like that, and they managed to put out a pretty good SoL with chuu2 elements with the time they had. I might be overestimating it because I love Chuu2 shit.
Kiznaiver was a trainwreck of themes and shit writing, but it had a solid premise before it ran itself into the ground with poor character drama.
Luluco was good. It wasn't trying to be anything spectacular, and indeed with a combined total of 1 hour total screentime, it couldn't be.
KLK is meme shit, but the first half was legitimately good stuff. Second half shat the bed.

Trigger is a pretty okay studio. I think it's pretty middle-of-the-pack, with slightly more budget then it's contemporaries because of it's overinflated reputation, but they need to tighten up their scenarios and pacing. That's probably their single biggest flaw; that everything is poorly paced, or is doing well before slamming itself face-first into the dirt by the end.

essentially the main problem with the studio, you can only catch me on build up so many times before I get wise to your tricks and the failure becomes the inevitable part instead. its actually impressive how klk managed to squander all of its momentum like two episodes before the last one. not to say the second half was good, but it's impressive how the show ended up flopping so hard

I don't disagree with your outlook and I think I too would be interested in seeing them work with others' material. I get the feeling they aren't a very good studio for that, however? If anything I'm far more interested in studio 3hz because they came out of nowhere and have been producing flawed, but far more interesting works than studio trigger. plus their animation is nicer too.

It's probably TRIGGER's most competently produced show. It has legit great moments, but most of the time it's just OK and the weird ass pacing doesn't help. Ending is 10/10 though.

I seriously wasn't expecting this. Now I'm torn between getting a ps4-import or waiting for a pc port and hoping for zero localization butchering.

It's a show that decided to not play things safe and do something different in the magical girl genre. It's lite on the cute girls doing cute things end, and high on the cute girls saving the world from the end of yay. Trigger invested more than half the show in a setting that can be used to make sequels out of. The show itself was low budget, Trigger used up all of their favors in the past with KLK, so don't expect too many high frame sequences. They were careful about which parts needed the extra frames.

I give it a solid 9/10 for staying consistent and delivering a good story, and a setting that felt bigger than the story. That grade can go up by one or down by one depending on your tastes, but I seriously don't know how anyone can dislike it outright and completely. As a bonus, it's got tons o references to western animation, hermeticisim and european folklore, and other anime. Highly recommended.

They had also did it for free for Trigger's reputation so much that they had people echoing their slogan, "Trigger will save anime," like it was the hot new meme. People had no idea what was going on until foolz got exposed for this elaborate prank.

Ever since then Trigger has had a polarizing reputation since newcomers or people who missed it can't tell the difference, and trolls carry on the bashing just to get replies. And some posters try to minimize Trigger's reputation so they can placate the trolls. Trigger is a great studio that doesn't need defending or hype. They do make shows that differ from the usual genres of anime today, and on a shoestring budget. That's really all there is to it. If you enjoyed some Gainax shows, they're carrying on the torch, having many of their veterans that are still working.
