So I've been looking at Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite for a while now...

So I've been looking at Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite for a while now, and I gotta say I think it's reached a point where Capcom shoulds delay the game by a year. So they can add everyone from UMvC3, a bunch of new characters and completely redesign the game visually and mechanically.

Like I can understand why people dislike the SFIV model, but it's much better than what they're doing with SFV and MvC:I. The ideal solution is basically have the base game and then make shit like UMvC3 as a downloadable expansion for 20 dollars a pop. This way people are getting what they paid for AND the business model is consistent. Then again this is Capcom we're talking about, and they'll probably force Itsuno to make DMC5 into a pseudo open world game like Dark Souls.

So I guess the question I'm asking is how would Holla Forums approach downloadable content for fighting games? and how would Holla Forums fix Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.

Mega Man has Juicy lips. Why does he have juicy lips?

Focus more on function.

I like how they did X though, I feel that they did it much better than Megaman in MvC where instead of changing between three weapons he's changing weapons as part of his moveset.

WHENS FUHNCKSHION?
But really, this game is beyond all help. The train left the station a while ago, and the conductor(didney) is calling the shots. This is what the higher ups want, so expect a burning dissappointment.
As far as DLC is concerned in fighters: On a personal level, i want to be a purist and say that the release candidate should have the full roster. If they need to add charactrers later, it is usually a call by the marketing team to promote a related IP. The current climate of the industry lends itself to releasing half-baked games and slapping the rest as DLC, so why even release a half assed game if you are going to milk your userbase more for them to get the full experience? All you are going to do is further alienate your userbase and dig your metaphorical grave even deeper. In crapcum's case, theyre 2 miles deep and have already got the cement mixers ready and pouring.

This will never happen, Marvel only wants the game made to advertise their movies. Also, they need to replace the "pr" people they hired from the FGC that are terrible at their job. I get that you want people from there so you have an easy time shilling your shit at tournaments and everywhere else, but you still can't have a guy going around saying that the characters don't matter. Capcom is just shit though, they're not going to do something right or make a good game.

Yeah, even normalfags are hating on it now. Doesn't exactly help that combofiend fucked up the PR. Seriously what fucking idiot pisses people off like that, just say "We're not denying or confirming any characters based on rumor or speculation". The reason people buy these games is for the characters.

Agreed, the function shit is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Hell I bet I can do a better job and I'm fucking terrible at fightan games.

Well, first I'd say fuck downloadable content. It's the fucking cancer that has started this whole mess with devs cutting content to sell later. It's the root of the problem. However, if it has to be done, make it content that adds to the base game instead of content cut from the original release.

No matter how much capcom delays the game; it will still turn out to be shit. All of Capcom's good fighting game devs left the company and the game purely exists because Disney wants to advertise MCU more.
Even Capcom themselves can't delay it if they wanted too; it's their replace for the floundering SFV and if they did it would be competing directly with Dragon Ball Fighter Z.

Nintendo has the perfect approach for DLC in fighters with ARMS; Shit's free and all patched in. It would be ideal for every fighter to do that, but not every has Nintendo's autism cash flow.
SNK had a decent approach for KoF XIV regarding paid DLC outside of costumes; DLC characters weren't even on the plans during development and weren't even considered until months after launch. Then they polled the fans on what they wanted. So it ended up; 4 characters bundled or that could be purchased separately 7 months after release, new music/stages/graphics overhaul are patched in for free and shitty DoA5 tier Costume bullshit (save for a few free costumes). the 4 characters were nowhere near high tier (one of them being considered the worse character in the game) so you could easily ignore them in favor of the already fucking huge roster.

I'd prefer ARMS' dlc plan for everything, but I'd at least settle for SNK's no season pass/everything is developed post release instead of the norm for fighters.
Tekken 7 had a chance at setting an example for fighters but they kiked it up hard.

Give it to Eighting and let them have full control like they did for TvC, don't restrict them like MvC3. Even with Disney forcing the MCU on the game you'd at least get solid gameplay.

who cares, the vs. series has ran its course honestly. MvC3 was okay, but only that. it was nowhere near MvC2's stupid ridiculous fun in my opinion.

Dragonball Fighterz is what people should be keeping an eye on. ArcSys making it, reportedly easy to get into, a huge ip in Dragonball, etc. It can pull crowds from multiple directions from people like me who enjoy ArcSys's games already, DBZ fans which I was never one, fighting game fans, etc. That's going to make some waves i imagine and hopefuly bamco doesn't fuck it up.

But yeah, maybe I'm delusional, but I could see DBFZ doing what SFIV did for fighting games years ago. I think people forget how big SFIV was. I never cared about Street fighter, but SFIV's popularity spread out to other titles. It's the reason I got into fighting games, and though SFIV wasn't my style, it lead me to games I did end up enjoying such as Guilty Gear and got me hyped when Xrd Sign was announced.
