When the current champ calls "new champ", the first poster to claim it is our champ. The first six legal Pokemon suggested once champ has been claimed or "new team" has been called will be the team our champ uses to battle. The champ will be battling in OU unless he specifies otherwise.

Chess is strictly memorization. In Pokemon, you have to decide between things that are intangibly beneficial (such as "presence" of a certain pokemon, switch-ins, etc) to mess with your opponent. In addition, you are working with imperfect information; while the game uses RNG and seeds, which makes the game deterministic to an observer, as a player you have imperfect information and a non-deterministic gamestate while actually battling.

If you memorize all that, you're still a retard if you don't realize there are counters and setups you can use to avoid that. Snips works because nobody packs Swift, or perfect accuracy or +evasion moves; if it became more widely known, then a meta would form into play and counterplay. It's effective because it works by surprise; again, perfect vs imperfect information
