Just finished Megaman X this morning after getting to finally play it. Holy shit, this is what a truly great game feels like. GC controller didn't hurt the experience nearly as bad I thought with a control stick.
How much better is X2? Does X3 drop the ball as a third installment or does it only improve?
The games pretty much stay the same quality or improve until the later games int he series.

So what is it about X6 aside from the Nightmare system that people hate so much gameplay wise?
I've heard good things about it aside from being a blatant cashgrab with some actual quality, but I can see how it was apparently made in a few months, especially with a straight up retarded oversight like not being able to get Zero's black armor without the password despite being intended to literally because someone didn't pay attention to the very progression they were designing.

Next games degrade in quality, but are still very good.

Damn right. It's a classic for a reason. X2-X5 aren't as tightly constructed as the first, but are all still high/god tier. Each has unique things to offer, and I definitely recommend you play them. Play X6 if you're really craving more, and would be in the mood to play what's essentially a really shitty but hard romhack. Just skip X7 altogether. The complaints are not exaggerations, or attempts to be funny. It's utter cancer. X8 is okay, but not worth writing home about.
Have you played any other Mega Man games before?

I will throw out that something that hurts X5 is being interrupted throughout the stages for Alia to speak to you about the stage hazards, in X6 you can actually choose to have the conversations as you wish, similar to a codec I'd kill for a romhack that removes it

X2 is more complete game-wise but a has less of a soul. Fewer nice little touches that X1 had. X3 continues the trend, being a factory-generated platformer with uncreative and dull bosses but has way more upgrades and stuff to find.
X4 and onwards are so different they might as well not be the same series.

How does X2 decrease in any kind of quality? I watched my roommate play a bit of it with the very copy of X Collection he might give me for my GameCube and the stages look fun and colorfully diverse as shit and even the first Sigma fight in particular actually looked fun while challenging unlike the first X's, which I personally think was terrible ironically compared to his dog and final form. Don't worry, I don't remember any weaknesses to my relief. I refuse to not figure out shit on my own even in my untranslated nip porn games.
I'll find out when I play it after this post.
I was talking about in general. That video seems pretty well known when it comes to that game when it demonstrates what's shitty and blatantly rushed out about it for Jewry.
No, the closest I've ever been able to get is fucking around in X5, which my brother randomly bought yea, despite the fact we both sucked at it as kids and a NES collection on a disc with Mega Man I also sucked at. Years later I got to try X on a relative's SNES and loved it even if I did terribly then.
I got through X in a few days with my autistic reaction time and loved how merciless it was with enemy damage output and swarming. Shitty bloggers would bitch relentlessly about the first 10 seconds of Chill Penguin and that seems to be just the first intended stage.
