Never had a problem with $60 or any amount for a game to be honest, I dropped $120+ several times for games that occupied a lot of space in a cartridge or came with co-processors. The issue was paying $60+ for something on cheap media then getting endlessly milked for DLC, online play, and all the other schemes they've come up with over the years. Add to that a subpar product more often then not, the demise of demos to judge quality, the re-hasing of stories, the fact that it is cheaper than ever to make a game, the lack of innovation and just basic craftsmanship, and a laundry list of other things and paying the price is just unacceptable.

You can point to a lot of things and years and say it's the start of the demise but the truth is they gradually fucked us over until it became the norm. I personally saw through it when I noticed that sports games came out every year just for roster updates even after broadband/internet access became a standard. Before that it was the death or arcades that killed the push for better hardware and squeezing what you could out of older hardware. It was just a slow decent into the hell. At least we get one or two good games a year and a lot of AAA and indie shit to laugh about. At least we get plenty of games on PC despite the fact that they're usually console ports and unique PC genres have all but died. Times are dark but at least it isn't hopeless just yet. I'm hopeful that one game that doesn't attempt to jew us over comes out, the maker of said game doesn't turn into a big vagina, and it starts a trend that sends waves through the industry. Basically, I hope the suits decide to copy something good for one. It'll probably never happen.
