Are you at a disadvantage compared to having 2 controllers? Meaning is there stuff you can do with 1 but not with the other?

Curious if it'd work with 1 person using the pro controller and the other using the two joycons.

That sounds even worse. For Honor's "You attack you lose" issue was bad enough. It encourages nothing but defensive playstyles and makes things incredibly slow-paced. You're only going to see a lack of depth and ultimately the game drops off the face of the earth. Hell, I hardly hear anything about For Honor anymore.

I guess I must be some sort of freak of nature, but I actually prefer the motion control setup. I played with it exclusively through the Global Testpunch and I decided to recently try playing in handheld mode. Pressing buttons to punch just seemed wrong by that point.

So I got those Joy-Con battery packs that went on sale and it gives the Joy-Cons a serious amount of bulk, which is perfect for me.

If you play motion controls, I suggest making the purchase. It feels a hell of a lot better.

If you throw a punch and then twist either left in right, in that order, the projectiles you throw will start veering to whatever direction you twist.

It was a combination of things that caused the drop in For Honor's popularity; lack of content, imbalanced characters, gameplay that encourages defensive playstyles and P2P multiplayer.

Arms is using the Splatoon model, I don't really see how it can fail unless the sales are already awful. haven't had any connection issues yet, all the matches have been pretty fair for both sides. My only real complaint is that the side games like volley ball and basketball should be in different lobbies than the normal fights, the non-fight based gamemodes suck

I think it's fun so far. The Grand Prix mode has been surprisingly tough so I haven't unlocked ranked multiplayer yet, we'll see how that goes, but the other modes are pretty good.

This is the only game I've ever played where I am okay with motion controls. They're optional but they work well enough to be viable.

Online seems healthy but I don't think we'll reach Splatoon levels of loads of multiplayer people.

You end up saying things that could be construed in a sexual manner with a straight face or not due to the nature of what you need to do to complete the game. It's also a good game to play with your parents or people of similar skill level because it's more of a thinking game than a game where you need typical gaming skills.

So here's what I'm finding out.

1. Distance and spacing is key. Too far, and your punches wont reach. Too close, and you can't react to punches and grabs worth shit.

2. Master the technique of curving your punches. This will help increase your chance of making a hit.

3. Grabs are easily to deflect/react to if you follow rule one. If you have a grab-happy opponent, dodge and react.

4. Be mindful of when you throw punches. A missed throw takes the longest to reset, opening you up for all sorts of bad stuff.

5. Ribbon Girl players are faggots.

6. Ninjara players are faggots.

7. Mechanica best girl.

It's the mask that gives the fighters stretchy arms. If they take off the mask, their arms return to normal. The only exception to this is Kid Cobra, who was naturally born with his arms. His helmet is also custom-made.

That issue has been solved. Some launch left JC shipped with out a piece of conductive foam attached to the wireless antenna, now they do (or defective ones can be sent into Nintendo for repair/replacement)

I hate to sound like a scrub but it feels pretty cheap.

I had my first ranked match today (I main Min Min for now) and it was against a Kid Cobra using nothing but these wind slapamanders.
They were so fucking fast at both launching and returning, and all he did was spam punches or grab spam if I got close.
I knew he was being a shitter so I had rematch after rematch until I could figure something out.
Eventually I beat his ass by getting in close, carefully timing kicks, and grabbing his ass again and again. He changed his tune a little at times, but reverted quickly so I squeezed out the win.

It felt good, but leaves me with worry for the matches to come.

You'll have to experiment and see which feels best for you. I prefer motion controls and I tried it first since the game was more-or-less designed around it. However, I fee like I'm in the minority when I say that it's the best.

As for the least used: I'd go with Byte and Barq. Right now, the most popular characters seem to be Ribbon Girl and Ninjara for their double jump/teleport jump techniques.

Nintendo is trying to push this out as their competitive fighter game, along with Pokken Tournament DX. You say they're different markets, but Nintendo doesn't believe so.

Nintendo is trying to increase their presence in the competitive gaming scene in general.

I know Nintendo is trying to get the competitive fighter market, but they aren't getting it. They're getting their usual fans and casual players. Just look at Pokken's scene; it grew it's own scene and sold more than SFV but there is almost zero overlap with the regular fighting scene.
I'm sure ARMS will get it's own scene, but it's not gonna be made up of the regular FGC like nintendo thinks it will. And comparing it's sales to tekken is a dead give away that people don't understand the different markets for fighting games, Tekken 7 has been released for over year in arcades. Home console releases in general are always low in japan because the japanese FGC almost exclusively plays in arcades.

Your observation is good but you are forgetting the sheer autism of the fighting game community. While you, I, or any number of other people will recognize sf and tekken as being in the same market as arms, fight autists have broken it down so much that different versions of the same game belong in different groupings and are totally incompatible with each other.

The online is still free.

Addendum: pretends that the fighting game community is large enough to support multiple markets, when in reality the genre is dying (again) and is in need of all the support it can get as a genre. Pretending that consoles in Japan somehow don't matter won't change this fact, nor diminish the significance of Arms' success.

The electric Revolvers are god awful to fight against. I was up against a Ribbon Girl using them, just spamming like a retard, and I couldn't do shit as Min Min. I couldn't figure out a single thing to do like with the Cobra I fought.

Also Kid Cobra's level is gutter trash. It looked fun in the footage, but it plays like shit. It feels like luck if you ever actually hit someone because those damn beyblades keep blocking attacks. And if you fall off you're fucked if your opponent keeps up the pressure.

Okay, so I think it's been more-or-less confirmed that Ribbon Girl is completely and totally unbalanced.

Her aerial game is entirely unmatched thanks to her ability to double jump FOUR FUCKING TIMES! She can literally stay in the air the entire match. This is troubling when you take into consideration that your punches only veer left and right, not up and down as well.

Unless you have a Vertival that can shoot vertically, you have very little chance to land a single hit on a Ribbon Girl who knows how to utilize her jumping abilities.

Other people on other forums are already complaining about it.
