But that's all brainfart hypotheticals, and probably not more plausible than Hitler's plan of kicking the door in and bringing the whole rotten house down.

The outer suburbs of Moscow are a big place and not a fun place to try and wage a war of movement, the terrain is very suited to defense in depth and not towards a war of movement. This is without attending taking the actual city itself. However, as I'd already stated, there IS the case for an early Moscow simply because regardless of how much of a clusterfuck it might've been with the OTL order of battle and logistics lines getting stretched past their breaking point, any assault on Moscow will skullfuck Soviet logistics (far more important than its symbolism as capital) by way of turning their prime railway nexus into a battleground, which might have effects on the wider front faster than the Wehrmacht can break down or the ignored armies to the south that were historically encircled & destroyed before things went tits up at Stalingrad can stage a sufficiently ruinous counterattack. But that is a large 'might've.' Moscow is historically a trap of a city to try and take, and Hitler assuredly knew as much. Hindsight can't say very much as to his judgement, especially as to the fact that it's not clear whether an early Moscow would have been plausible as a key to victory without earlier points of divergence in the timeline. I am personally inclined toward a wide view on a couple strategic points and on large-scale procurement ethic, since everything else is more or less as good as it will get barring earlier German doctrinal responses to Allied counter-responses.

moscow's defensive strength is the prime reason it should have been taken, especially with resistance being so weak at the time. would have been a great foothold to break the russians on as they tried to counterattack, and as you said with it being essentially the logistical hub of the entire soviet union the consequences for the russians losing it would have been pretty damn dire

My current goal game to produce user is actually a horror game of sorts. You play as a 14 year old German conscript fleeing the Eastern front in 1945. My plan for the far future is a game where you play as a German sniper and get to witness the terrific communist crimes through the scope of your rifle. Read the book "Sniper on the Eastern Front" by Sepp Allerberger. He describes every little thing with excellent detail and has taken many gory pictures.

I remember one of his many crimes he witnessed in Stalingrad.

He also had to witness the rape of a Russian woman. The Bolsheviks didn't care that she was Russian. He couldn't do anything because his position would be revealed. She died of injuries in that same position.
