Jesus when they said they were pruning skills and spells I didn't expect them to straight up throw out half the fucking spell and skill list while doing it. All healer dps rotations are beyond a fucking snoozefest now, balancing a wooping 1-2 dots and a single nuke and honestly they weren't that hard to begin with. Looks like all jobs in general are going to be a nightmare to level early on.
Bard looks alot more fun now it isn't a proto-caster, Sam looks like Monk 2.0, WAR is looking to be sitting in the shit tank corner this time around again, AST somehow still has fucking Balance despite raidwide buffs in general taking a nerf, Chain Stratagem is looking to work multiplicative instead of a flat rate and thus is utter trash, Fey Union looks tacked on, Selene hasn't been buffed and Lustrate 2.0 would have been great if Cleric Stance was still a thing, Lilies aren't as shit as WHMs are whining about, Dungeons look about as boring as they always do, Lakshmi will be pretty nuttable but there is going to be zero porn of her because its not a futa catgirl kinda odd the lack of porn with how lewd XIV is but whatever., RDM looks fun but sadly no swift raising with valcure+raise, weeb houses will be camped come 4.1 so good fucking luck getting one and the PvP changes do fuck all to the actual problems with PvP and still no answer to the bot issue plaguing Frontlines right now. In HW, we lost pro-shell, graniteskin and we got the holy nerf.

In SB, we lost a shit ton of our kit and need to pay to get them back via cross class skills. Stoneskin is completely gone now and divine seal got nerfed. The lily mechanic being shit is just icing on the cake. Whm has been the designated shitting street of healers for a while now and it's really fucking old.

The reason for no new healers is laughable considering Yoshi couldn't balance his way out of a wet paper bag. I still remember wm/gb being a dps loss for brd/mch when it first came out and the bs excuse Yoshi gave before someone explicitly showed him the math, which caused him to immediately buff it. War was an absolute mess as well before the buffs and so was Ast until they went overboard with the final balance buff rather than making spear more useful.

They fully expect you to spam cure 1 and cure 2 like a good pure healer for the ability to lower the cool down on your cds, which you would normally keep off cd regardless. This shit is beyond retarded, so I'm keeping a keen eye out for the patch notes. I doubt there was enough time to change lily, so I'm curious what bandaid fixes they'll do. They already made cure 2 proc a lily iirc.

Based on the 80% damage bs they tried with Bane, I fully expect them to try and nerf Holy again. There's a turbo retard on the dev team that hates aoes.

We'll find out soon enough how bad it'll be in less than a week. If it's bad, don't expect any real changes for a year or so.

Alts were and still can be useful in ff14. They were used in arr when you wanted to raid outside of the total lockout. They still are useful for crafters who don't want to be at the mercy of the mb jew. They're still useful for playing on different servers without paying $20 to SE. The different server bit is when you get stuck on a dead server or want to move to a smaller server during the beginning of expacs. Other than that, there's no point in alts unless you get really bored with the game. However, I suggest playing another game at that point.

You could have a mechanic where the tanks, healers and dps get separated where each role has to out-do its respective warrior of darkness at some core mechanic or else. What if the players were allowed to wipe 3 times and had to wipe the warriors 3 times first? Each time a side gets wiped out, they get echo.

I remember that as well, but some people were saying that the damage was going to be midas/gordias-tier again as justification for the Whm changes. Others called bs and this just reaffirms it.

The anima items? You pick up the chest then quit the levequest and make to retry it rather than select to remove it. If the levequest is red, then canceling it again will remove it. You need to select retry at that point.

If you're fishing for a specific levequest then you'll need to complete one that is available to reset them. Go look up the required levequests and select all of the ones that you'll need. It will reduce the pool of available leves and make it easier to both fish for the required leves and to complete the relic books.

You wanna know why people are bitching and moaning? It's because for 2 years now Pld got constant shit because it under performed in comparison to the other tanks. Pld is the "bad job." Now Whm will be. Fuck off.

You get 15 days of gametime free for leveling up an alt on whichever servers they designate to level 30. That should take a few hours at most once you get potd unlocked.

since the release of the expansion is imminent I am going to predict that the empire has attempted to make Ultima replicas and we will fight them. I will also predict that the ninja and monk quest line will be rather poor mirroring how drg was kinda lackluster in heavenward despite being the cannon class and should have been tied into the main quest.

Pld is looking good in SB, but the tank damage nerf is going to suck. Str being the tank damage stat again is fine, but then they made accessories role dependent. Given all of the aoe nerfs and the gutting of Bane, I'd say Yoshi is fucking retarded. The only way I can see this working is if they completely give up on ever forcing players back into older content, because pre-70 Smn is going to be painful. Sch aoe is fucking shit now with the 80% damage drop-off too. Ast still doesn't have any aoe pre-50 and Whm has been picked clean.

Of course, we'll know for certain tonight or tomorrow. Maybe someone knocked some sense into Yoshi? I just hope he didn't fuck over crafting.

more to the point, they nerfed aoe midway through the life of ARR, they can certainly un-nerf it midway through the life of SB. my hope is that they'll see some metrics from earlier content, realize it's an unfun slog, and either un-nerf aoe or make it less of a slog. im fine either way, but tbh, id prefer if there were less overall trash in a dungeon. sohm al hard and baelsar's are a decent metric as far as trash goes. i ran a mentor roulette that took me to amdapor keep normal, and my god that first trash area prior to the barrier before the boss is so fucking boring. it's probably really wishful thinking, but here's hoping they did a pass on older content to make it less grindy.

new xpacs typically always bring a revival of crafting, since crafted and properly overmelded gear tends to outperform the welfare stuff, and in some cases even outperforms the raid drops.

on the one hand, yeah, it was boring as fuck just being a pure aggro/mitigation tank, so as long as yoshi and co. balance the damage stances with the aggro stances, such that we get good damage while in damage stance for a tank obviously then that rewards good use of the abilities, which is a good thing. of course, they're changing so much shit all at once i'm sure it'll be an absolute shitshow for the first month at least, probably until the first major content patch.

To play the Devils Advocate. It was the players that pushed the 'every one must DPS' meta. Sure, stance dancing Cleric Stance and tank stances was a nice find and a good display of the player ingenuity. But then 'speedrun' memers and 'must be super elite world firsts' took it and ran a full marathon with it.

On the other hand, I do agree about WHM getting shat on like an outhouse in a lumberjacks lodge. They lose almost all of their kit for some Lily thing that looks like an afterthought. Unless they nerf SCH and AST heal potency so they can sell WHM as a 'premium big, interesting, and gimmicky heals all-in-one' (but then again AST got that star delayed heal bomb which looks awesome as fuck), I do not think this will work out well at all. That'll never happen. Just look at early 3.0 Ast to see how that worked. They'll always balance the content so that every healer can do it. Hell, Whm even lost Divine Seal for a nerfed version that they have to buy back. They lost pro-shell and graniteskin in HW. Smn got its pre-70 aoe shat on hard, which is going to suck for any content lower than 70. Blm got fire 2 nerfed a bit, but Thunder 2 is aoe now so it might balance out.

If I recall correctly, I think the they (the dev team or the man himself, cannot remember exactly) said that what they intended Cleric Stance for is healer to be able to solo outside the party like leveling, end game sidequests, etc. So they were pretty surprised when players took it and do the healer stance dancing.

I do not exactly like those 'speedrun' memers and 'meta elitists'. I get it, they are damn good at what they do, breaking down components of the game, analyse it and find the most effective way of clearing it. Exactly why everything will be boring to them, because no matter how hard the content is they will find a way to beat it or abuse it (like the coil, getting boss to enrage instead of playing mechanics), then they will FUCKING complain that the 'game is too easy, boring, GG shitgaem'.

Not realising that everyone else are not as invested as them, not as hardcore as them, I mean we don't have to vet out jobs or need deeps-meter like the west do (I think) here in JP server. We do raids with PLD, WHMs (yes, 2 WHMs), we might wipe more than a few times, we tackle bosses without watching vids and learn it as we go as friends and FCmates. We have fun nonetheless.

The destination is not everything, the journey there is the big part of the fun. And I think being a meta jerk is not fun at all.

Also BRD main here. I think the we lost the boost, our AoE capabilities. But the main gimmick is still there (2 DoTs, crit and reset moves). We are still MP/TP battery though I fucking hate the fact is it is on long CD and only for 30s. Just drain our MP/DPS as usual is fine.

I started with rs in 2003/4 then went on to coh in 2006. There were no healers in rs, but there were in coh and damage was big part of their role. The true healer skill set "Empathy" had a shit ton of powerful buffs on top of their pure heals. I only played wow for a day in the burning crusade, so I have little idea how they worked there. However, healers in coh would get the boot if they tried to just spam heals rather than dps unless a fire/kin or fire/psi was farming. The only person that really mattered at that point was the fire/psi or fire/kin.

I remember dpsing being the norm in Conan, Warhammer, CO, DCUO and Aion. I honestly don't remember much about Aion, so I might be wrong there.

It looks like the crafting changes are good. The Specialist abilities got unfucked and Yoshi gave everyone access to the core abilities.

The typical wow style of healing was to put on netflix or your tv and use healbot to make sure people didn't die. If people died it was because they fucked up on mechanics. Of course this laziness is part of the reason why progression raiding in WoW could be so frustrating.

Wow is still fucking things up years later. I remember when NcSoft fucked over coh to try and chase the wow crowd similar to how fps' went after the halo audience.

As worried as I was for Whm, I'm actually pretty concerned for Sch now. Their aoe dps got gutted and the new tether skill looks like shit. The fairy got nerfed, their mp regen is worse and their abilities are still really expensive.

Looking at the datamining, SCH is utter garbage. Chain Strat got nerfed again going to 15% and a 10 second duration and isn't flat rate so you are looking at a wooping 2-4% crit increase to a single target, embrace down to 250, fey illu got hit to 10%. Bane? is still the same as early build (as in utter shit), Fey Union needs to be within 10y of the target but no idea if the tether ends if they go out of range or not, Selene got no buffs what so ever despite needing them, atherflow got nerfed to 10%, all there spells cost like 30% more for no reason and sch still has the worse raw healing out of the three. Muh OP fairy means fuck all with cleric stance gone. Meanwhile AST still has un-nerfed balance and Noct Stance still has a bonus 15% healing. Sad thing is WHM spamming nothing but Ass Size has better AoE then SCH do right now.

Don't blame ya, depending on how awful SB turns out I might jump ship too.

preliminary look says that they might have done this. they may have "overbalanced" warrior down too much with so many changes at once, but they haven't done much for or against drk, just added some general utility like stronger aoe without spamming MP and better group utility outside of just being a tank. pld certainly seems to be much better than it was, but i dont think it will overshadow war or drk completely. drk brings solid group utility and good defense vs magic, while war still has the coveted slashing debuff and highest dps out of all the tanks. we'll see how things play out in a few hours.

the nice way of saying it is that it's still a "work in progress" but the truth is ast is so far ahead of sch and whm at this point it's comical. unless all encounters in the game have been retuned to work specifically with whm and sch changes, then what's the point? even then, ast will be able to handle all that shit no problem, and without any new gimmicks to boot. earthly star looks fucking awesome and OP though.

It means that any action you've unlocked prior to entering PotD is immediately available as soon as you enter, even if you start PotD at level 1. The other half says, like you assumed, if you enter PotD at level 1 base, even if you level enough in PotD to get higher-leveled skills, you still won't have access to them because you haven't unlocked them outside of PotD.

It won't end PotD shitters, though. Really, you just need to level enough to get your second or third skill in your base combo to get through most of PotD.

I'm really, really wary about coming back to this game. Lots of changes seem to be taking place for zero reason, such as removing DoTs for just about every class, not just some classes. Some things aren't being changed in ways that make any sense from a design perspective, such as skill/cast speed lowering the cooldowns of oGCD abilities or Shield/Sword Oath changing the functionality of specific PLD abilities to be more tank/damage focused, respectively.

I've read that you can only do 3-4 in a row. Still, that 70% nerf is going to shit all over that consider we could already do 3 in hw and arr. You Flare, convert, Flare, mana potion, then Flare. From what I've read that hearts mechanic gives you another free flare.

It says it reduces flares cost by 2/3s. So 1/3 of your max mp? Cast 3, convert, another, potion, another.

That's why I'm not getting it. I started playing last Christmas and played for 2 months, then did another 2 from April. Going through ex trials in ARR was fucking hell. Leveling dungeons were barely bearable. I won't even mention HW trials and raids. The playerbase is just too shitty. You know what the punchline is? Most players don't give a shit about the combat, they just do daily roulettes because dungeons are pretty.

Why did they leave in the 20% chance on crit? Why does anyone think a proc off a proc is good design? Just make it take off one second for each crit, fuck this gay shit.

It gets consumed after the first flare, so it only gives you one extra flare. It essentially is an extra convert.

RIP that dream then. Also I forgot but you can get an extra flare maybe 2 out of lucid dream, depending on how much MP it regens per tick, due to the tiny minimum mp cost requirement on flare.

It isn't. Ast had a stronger version that they could extend, so popping it at 50% mp was useful. Whm, which the current version is based off of, had to pop it at 75%. The problem is that Flare eats up all of your mana, so the only ticks that will help will be the ones after your last Flare and before the next one. Lucid is not going to give you enough mana quickly enough for another Flare based on what we know of shroud and Flare.

AST can still extend their lucid dream. AST can extend ANY buff that they used, hell they can extend mind potion duration's on themselves.

Also I will be sure to test out the whole lucid/flare thing when servers go live out of curiosity.

How can Japs be so smart and so fucking stupid? In spite of its current, miserable state, WoW managed to stay alive for so long by studying its competition carefully, seeing what they did that worked and set them apart and adding it into their own game to improve it. You can hate WoW/Activision/Blizzard all day long, but this is still a fact.

XIV feels like it's flailing; throwing dumb shit at the walls to see what sticks rather than adding sensible, intuitive changes. The change to Bard songs is a great example of this. Now the job has three different playstyles that rotate during the fight, each with radically different mechanics. It adds complication without actually adding any depth to the class. The new Monk abilities seem schizophrenic at best. They got, what, four new charges? Why? And why does Tornado Kick still have no real purpose? In all honesty, I'll probably resub in the near-ish future, just to see the changes for myself. It'd be nice to be able to post feedback on the forums, but I don't think Jap devs read them or listen to their players in the same way that Western devs do, for better or worse.

IMO, I think they give more attention to their own side more than the west seeing how the west shitters and retards killed their games with 'constructive complains' and 'suggestions' on the forum. Shit like this is what every designer went through, clients who spew shit and does not know exactly want they want and give shit briefs, you have to give them shit they don't even know they wanted. Of course, this can backfire spectacularly. There are pros and cons to this method though.
