And about the story, a thing that kinda bugged me about Shido - while his palace shows he doesn't give two shits about anyone, there's a part where he's having a private conversation with pancakes (surprisingly easy boss, btw) and he laments that the country is being ruined by people who just want to line their own pockets. Even if pancakes is another tool, I don't think he has any reason to be insincere with that statement. Dunno, just a random bit that got me wondering.

if you raise Ohyas link, the security increases are so fucking slow that its virtually impossible to get to 100% unless you are actively trying to do so.

the tutorial says getting it to 100% will get you kicked out from the palace, so i assume you'd lose the day. -however-, at the same time, having a high alert % has a hidden benefit: it raises the chance of steal-able items being treasure demons.

my alert % hasn't gone beyond 30 a single time, and im already halfway through NG+. i think they made it too easy, just fucking R2 through the whole palace, not like 4% alertness from one or two demons seeing you matters when a single ambush reduces like 10%

Yeah, I reckon it should be reduced with every Safe Room visit (about 5%?). Obviously it would only count once so you can't enter/reenter.

what they should have done is make ambushes reduce alert by less. it feels like they put the numbers in the wrong places.

an ambush reduces like 10%, while getting seen by the enemy raises like 4% (on Ohya Lv10 skill). it should be the other way around, getting seen should increase by 20%-10% (depending on how good is your relation with Ohya) an an ambush should only reduce the % in little amounts, like 1% or 2%. that way the game would be pushing you towards playing carefully if you don't want to get kicked out, and at the same time, it would give the player an easier time raising it to increase the Treasure Demon rate.

There is no difference between a "normal" persona and one that someone else is using but the fact that they're using it. It makes sense by P1+P2 rules, where people passed around (most) Personas like prison currency, Akechi always had Loki and is in the party, and since you can't get doubles, you can't get one either, even disregarding the exclusivity of it.

You should have used the Treasure Trap item. At 99% they spawn every five to six items. Since you can't get thrown out of a treasure run, it's pretty much made for last second grinding.

The extra cash can be vital for a perfect run as that will have you melt your funds on attribute boost stuff. Incidentally, just started a new run to try that. Still need to finish my first though but I can already tell it's a failure in terms of maxing confidantes and attributes.

Tetraja helps for the first half of the reaper fight. Once he hits 50% he'll start using Mamudoon and Hamaon and it gets less useful. I would also recommend not trying him until you have a party with their ultimate personas + Futaba. He'll waste turns breaking their nulls and that will buy you the time you need. Plus it means getting a chance to debilitate him, raising your evasion/charging, or healing up. You can also do this and let him ambush you, for some reason it halves his turns.

I've seen guides for it so it is possible - max every confidant, max all attributes, read all books and finish all games. The game is designed that way but there's very little room for error, Palaces imperatively have to be done in one sitting, you have to let Mementos requests really pile up and forget about deviations like going to the gym.
Problem is that on a blind run, you'll hit a lot of unexpected walls.

My first run is a blind one and, as I said, I've failed a lot of things.

Guide I saw didn't even require Chihaya's affinity reading nor gifts (R10 Sadayo was necessary though).

Enemies have a larger vision range at high security and have increased initiative and stats. They'll also immediately respawn once if you don't start the battle with an ambush.

It kinda sucks that you can just immediately jump to the boss room after you send the calling card. Kills the point of mapping out the dungeon and unlocking all the shortcuts.

It's really been a while since a game kept me playing it all the way through the end without changing games in-between. Even better that I enjoyed the hell out of it, especially in regards to aesthetics, characters, music, and gameplay (abliet a lot more simpler and forgiving than previous versions of the game I'm sure). Also helps that, while not completely clean, had a good translation and localization compared to most games that go through (((localization))).

Given it's success, I'd imagine there will be a few spinoffs and an "update" version of the installment, but only time will tell. Thanks for a fun game Atlus. If/when I do play it again to try and perfect it, I don't think I'd change much of how I played it, especially going with Hifumi again. For now, I think I'll play the classic Thief games again since the whole time I played P5, it made me want to play the series with the whole thief motif.

user everyone grinds in a SMT games to make their dream team of personas. I am a person who's favorite part of P3 was Tartarus. But leveling up when there is a rubber band effect tied to EXP is fruitless after awhile. For example I am currently lvl 30 and the most exp I can get form a battle is roughly 500 if I am lucky and pull a powerful group (on average I get less then 100 exp per encounter). That is also decided by how many party members you are playing with. I need over 8k to level up. That is approximately 64 battles for one level if I am lucky and 320 if not so lucky. Now that is just for one level (and I am a bit over leveled myself at 30 for being in the 4 palace). We are talking Hundreds of hours of needless grinding because one battle in the next dungeon would be a faster way of leveling up. Not to mention because status effect and Turn Press mechanics you can easily win almost every fight (under leveled) if you figure out the right tactics.

I try to grind so i can find my persona team my top 3 is Yoshitsune, Trumpeter, and Cybele
The grinding does get tedious but it feels rewarding when you're able to fuse more personas when you're at a specific level.
I do the same when grinding in Mementos until i can't reach no more EXP when on a higher level.

you haven't gotten addicted to fusions yet. Although there is a big difference between grinding for your persona compendium and grinding for lvl's in a game that punishes level grinding.
I totally understand that, but you grind to lvl 25 when your protagonist is a best usually around lvl 10 its a bit too much. I am talking about having a lvl 22 Oni before beating Kamoshida. That is without having access to Regenerate, Invigorate or SP Regen accessory's or having access to higher level fusion tools like sacrifice. To give an idea of how much time the dude spent in the dungeons he was bitching about not being able to sell his x99 stack of Plant Balm.

I used a couple of days for Mementos from those last couple of weeks; one to take advantage of the flu season and another separate one where I had to go solo with Futaba to do a mission for Rusty's S-Link. I guess I should count myself lucky I did something with Makoto though I genuinely resent getting jewed out of that Sunday - just because Shido spills his guts at night is no reason to lose the afternoon.
Now with all stats maxed and no one to hang out with evenings, I'm taking the chance to cash on Kawakami's different services.

If Fatlus released persona with Hifumi as playable character, a less annoying cat and no flashbacks during the entire game, it would have been nearly perfect for me. Of course there are still some flaws.

I always wanted Hifumi to have a samurai attire and a horse persona (makoto has a bike). It shall be a pitch black horse and her weapon shall be a longbow and a katana. The helmet can be one of those devillish looking ones with giantic horns.
Yusuke can have a Wakizashi and a blowpipe instead. Ninja need compact weapons for assasinations.

Sometimes the affinity reading will let you skip those non-rank events but judging by what you're saying, you might have messed up on some answers, gave him the cold shoulder too many times or haven't been taking a compatible Persona.

I'd probably go for a naginata as that's more ladylike. As for the Persona, it would be kinda tricky to have a smooth animation for her getting on and off the horse. Who would it it even be? Has to be a Sengoku Jidai person but I can't think of anyone besides Izumo no Okuni (a cross dressing dancer who practically kickstarted the Kabuki theater) or Mochizuki Chiyome (the first kunoichi).

when you relate to a confidant you get points, when you max those points, the confidant can be ranked up, and all the points you get during the talk count towards the next rank. so if your confidant is not available to be ranked UP!! it means its lacking points, something like 4/6 or 3/6.

chihaya's fortune adds points to that, once a day, for 5000 yen. how many points i can't tell, it would take some higher level autism to figure out the exact numbers.

the tl;dr is if you get a fortune and you still can't rank up, then get another fortune for the same person until you can, and do other links while you wait for the fortune reading to cool down (ie if you have iwai, hifumi, and ohya on the same day, none of them available for a rank up, pile all your fortunes on iwai and spend time with either hifumi or ohya).

so basically, you just need to max out Hifumi (star) and Ann (lovers) during your first playthrough, and get the rest through regular fusion, then on NG+ you can start out with Satanael.

bear in mind that since Satanael begins at level 95, and the 6 personas needed to fuse him are all well above level 85, the cost of summoning them and the cost of fusing him will be more than a few hundred thousand yen, most likely you'll need above a million.

also, you get an item for each SL you maxed, the item you get allows you to fuse the ultimate persona of that SL at any time, and also, with the item in your possession, you have access to the full set of skills of that SL as soon as you begin it in NG+ (meaninig: links that you max in the first game will act as if they were maxed as soon as you start them in NG+)
