3d platformers

What are some good 3d platformers out there for PC?
How was yooka laylee?
I just completed Sonic Lost World, and now i am itching for some good platforming games.

fuck you

...

Emulate them all
Mediocre, even the chamleon design looks like shit
Sonic Transformed, Mario Kart 8, Crash Nitro Racing and some realistic car game

quad

I hate emulators.

- Emulate Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Yooka Laylee is dull like a stale joke

It's not the kind of game you're thinking of but there's a short fun physics puzzle/platformer called Human Fall Flat which I enjoyed a lot. At a glance it seems like just another dumb indie game but the way the physics are there's a lot of interesting shortcuts and tricks you can do.

DUDE, They had a funny fucking line from a plant that said "I don't talk to your kind", and it was fucking funny, and they changed it due to fears of offending someone!

Anton & Coolpecker Never ever

Rayman 2/3

Pretty mediocre. Not absolutely horrible like some people say it is, but its camera is a real issue and its humor is hit or miss with pretty standard gameplay for a collectathon and that's without mentioning the whole Jontron thing

Now retards mention "It's just because of Jontron!!!" when you give the game criticism.

the textures and level design got super lazy midway through the game too

Also pic related, and yes it's also on PC..

Ty and Ty 2 got some SPECTACULAR ports recently.

All the decent 3D platformers for PC are ones focused on speedrunning, like Mirror's Edge, Deadcore or SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell.
I haven't played them yet but I've heard some good about Hover: Revolt of Gamers and Poi.

Play Crash 2 and 3 on PlayStation.

Crash 1 is kind of weak and might burn you out from enjoying 2 and 3.

I had that, Couldn't figure out how to cross the bridge for the longest time as a kid. The fish things freaked me the fuck out as well.

Was kinda disappointed by how barren everything was after Viking World. Arabia (Muslim) World and on kinda sucked.

You mean Crash 3 is kind of weak and might sour the enjoyment from 2?

...

Oh yeah I love Crash 3, and its boring, drawn out underwater levels, and its boring, drawn out plane levels, and the double one two shit sandwich that's the pura levels and the bike levels.
Crash 2 is like 7% shit.
Crash 3 is like 40% shit.

Is this you?

Yes. If I've already 100%'d something I like, then I have no desire to play something I hate a sizable part of.

play something inferior*

Snake Pass is quite alright. Lacks a bit of variety but otherwise.

Crash 2 is definitely a more "pure" Crash but I enjoyed the diversions of 3 as well, it was a short game.

I liked the bike levels like the bear levels. When it wasn't dark, as in I liked it as much. I just wish there wasn't both bike levels AND bear tiger levels in Crash 3, because it makes for less platforming levels in general.

...

Wait there were three underwater levels, were there not?

Under Pressure and Deep Trouble
Warp Room one and 3.

Wrath of Cortex is all that but a lot more suffering on the side.

Disregard everything I said about crash 3(besides dark levels). I just realized I had mixed in some parts of Wrath of Cortex in.

To be totally fair to Wrath of Cortex though.
It shipped unfinished. Twice.

Twice?

Wait you mean the game was unfinished and was made a new game in scratch? Or am I hearing a worse tale?

The original release and the v1.1 "Greatest hits" release, which still has a load of things cut but only features a chunk loader for Map Data. (Which incidentally introduces some new bugs)

looks fun

Why the fuck would you do that? Its ok at first and shows potential but becomes fuck awful.

but you are objectively wrong

This is the HEIGHT of YL. It's only down hill from here.
Just think about that for a fucking second.

Yooka Laylee's worlds are so empty. You spend a lot of time just running places. Older 3d platformers they had to squeeze as much to do in such a small area because the consoles couldn't handle much back then. Same with older PCs and console ports on PC.

Now, there is so much memory and consoles and computers are so powerful, developers just throw shit on top of shit and go

Except the world is empty, gay, and boring.

Literally a less fun Banjo-Kazooie knockoff. Almost made me actually appreciate Nuts&Bolts if the final boss in that game hadn't been just as bad.

homo

...

I dont give a fuck if you call it a meme or try to pose it as if people are bandwaggoning by calling it bad. Its fucking awful, unfunny, annoying, and past some sections that are actually about running fast and avoiding obstacles in 3D (which is only well done in SECTIONS of maybe two or three levels) its an abhorent piece of shit that doesnt understand Sonic.

Yeah, sonic is a bitt stiff in lost world. You have to spin dash to achieve simple rolls. And always hold run button to the point when your fingers will hurt.
But admit. They will stick to unleashed boosting gameplay from now on. And boosting is way worse than anything.

sounds like you are just bad at video games.

Holy fuck, I'm not the only one who played this game. Good times.

Boost gameplay is only bad if you follow the default route for each stage. Actually going for record times, even though they hand out S like candy, is difficult and still relies on controlling momentum and timing jumps. Like, you know, Sonic. I can see how you would feel this way if you just did the default route on each stage because its designed to be playable by everyone but there is challenge there if you look for it.

There's gonna be other games there too, but the only one I know will be good is SMO

You can literally emulate every good platformer that exists and a few "i enjoyed it" tier platformers are available natively on PC like Ty the Tazmanian Tigre. Sonic games are on PC, but that's not good platforming.

What a fucking joke, I don't feel at all bad for crash fans.

Christian Whitehead is coming to save us, just hunker down and forget that sonic games after & Knuckles exist.

Lost World kinda sucked, it just needed more refinement and less sterile concepts. The things I enjoyed doing were breaking the game, really.

I really enjoyed yooka-laylee
No wait, it's wrong to put it like this because Holla Forums is full of niggers. The correct way to put it is
I really enjoyed yooka-laylee

which parts did you like?

but how do you know whether or not SMO will be good?

the parts I disliked were: shitty quiz, casino level, and to a lesser extent the swamp level
I really loved how the ice looked, that amazed me for some reason

Are you that autist that reviews water on nintendo world ?

yes.
no. I just enjoyed the graphics/aesthetic/art design or whatever is the most accurate word to describe what I actually mean, they definitely got it right. ukulele wasn't memorable though, so I guess it really was just mediocre game - that just happens to be also very fun.

Super Mario Odyssey is getting publicly demoed at stores during E3.

How would you emulate the wii controllers?

Snake pass is fun

Sonic Lost world is average. It had a great concept. But the execution and level design is shit. Despite that its presentation is nice. Good music, nice graphics, and a colorful varied design helped make it endearing to at least one autist.

Unfortunately the boost formula has been refined for far longer and has a larger fanbase who's used to it. [And unlike Lost World started off on a much better foot. Werehog shit doesn't count]

Its biggest problem is having ANOTHER group of fucking faggots who will endlessly whine that they aren't being loved enough by big daddy sega.

On a side note is anyone else feeling a bit uneasy about Sonic Forces? Something isn't right but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the OC the hedgehog being included? Player avatars are rarely ever integrated into gameplay well at least not with an overall quality or variety drop to ironically account for every possible combination available.

Sonic Forces doesn't have much risk of that, if I'm remembering right. It seems like Original the Character will just have minor variations between species such as how many rings they drop on hit or whether or not they have a double-jump, so probably OC won't be able to go anywhere Sonic won't providing he's going through the same levels.

The only possible way it could be fucked up is if there was only 4 worlds like the Direct showed, but I feel like that was only done for the sake of the Direct and won't reflect the actual game's length and content

We only found out about that this week

My friend had this. It looked pretty cool from what little I saw of it.

I use a DS4 for it, bound the wiimote's pointer to right stick and a shake gesture to R2. Dolphin lets you emulate the wiimote ezpz.

Damn, I assumed it would be a lot more complex…might go play it now

It only gets a bit weird if you're connecting a genuine Wiimote, since Bluetooth is required, but once it's connected at all it's easy street.

I want Ape Escape 4

The original Ape Escape is in my opinion flawless in almost everything.
>Minigames unlocked based off special collectible and were full games in their own right Specter Boxing is still Top Tier

If I had to name a Platformer that has stuck with me over the years that is a quality game, it'd definitely be Ape Escape, even over my love of the Spyro trilogy.

this looks like Spyro designed by Sonic team.

what i dislike about ape escape is that you cant replay the levels. neither the monkeys or bosses respawn after defeating them.

Rocket: Robot on Wheels. It's a cool little collect-a-thon platformer from the same people who would go on to make the Sly games.

...

At least you admit you're a graphics whore

I'm glad I purchased this game and its sequel while the developers Blue Tongue were still active, it's such a great series. I mentioned it in a thread on 4chan quite a few years back, perhaps in 2013 or so, and someone offered to send me a stitched plushie they made of Blob. I sorely regret not taking their offer.

Came in here to mention this. This game is honestly comparable to Rare excluding the camera and a few of the tokens.

s

That's what the other save files are for.
And Time attack mode

...

Why?

I liked Crash 1 the best of the original trilogy.

I just checked today. Playtonic still follows JonTron on Twitter.

...

Anyone have a decent rom for it? I got one from Emuparadise but it keeps crashing after the first GobbleGut fight.

Shoo Shoo jew.

There was one on KAT before it went under, dunno about now, either way I just made an Iso out of my own game. Before you ask me, no, I won't upload it. Retarded laws here makes it legal to download but not upload copyrighted material.

It's okay buddy I'll try and find one, it's getting harder and harder to get decent ROMs nowadays.

emuparadise does well with most games up to PS2 but anything beyond is a nightmare unless you're a member of a private group.
