Does character fit along side said character in both tone and compliment Shadow's attitude?

Does Shadow fit in the game?
Does shadow compliment the tone of the game?
If the answer is yes then you have an edgy game.

Shadow the Hedgehog can fit right along Notim Portant shooting down civilians. Thus Hatred is edgy,

Look just because there is blood and gore does not make edge. if that was the case then Freddy Kruger would be an edgelord, but he's not.

Edgy shit is the stuff like Harvester, Hatred and DmC. The former may have moments that are kind of dumb, but they generally keep a coherent tone throughout them, while the latter have people swearing or doing horrific things for the sake of having horrific things in the game. In Harvester's case it's even the whole point the devs were trying to make.

Edgy is when things are unrealistically dark, typically for shock value. It's when a story is filled to the brim with antisocial behavior when you really only get about 1% of the population that are actual psychopaths. Most people don't see themselves as evil, but their actions may be perceived as such by others. An edgy character (or setting for that matter) either has no moral compass, or they are nihilistic to the point that other human beings don't matter at all. You are not going to have people going around murdering and raping other without some form of consequence. Law and order are going to be established somehow, because people will refuse to tolerate being in a state of anarchy for a long period of time.

Edginess is when your perception of the person and said person's concept of fucked-upness are vastly different.
