Pretty lonley, no one talks to me on steam and I have no one I know on Discord.

Nothing at the moment. Just finished a somewhat lengthy series (two full games over seven actual entries; fuck that release format) a short while back and am taking a break from vidya for a bit. Shame that there's little point to make threads on what I've been playing for a while now, given how everything's at least a decade old and usually from now-dead series, but what can you do. Probably the one drawback (aside from fucking scalpers infesting the market) to having a huge backlog of enjoyable older games.

I'm a good 17 hours in, just made it to Aquios and fucking forgot to pick up Roger from Duggus Forest before saving Ameena.

I really wish they'd have given this a proper HD coat of paint for the textures and character/enemy models instead of just making it a clear picture runs at more than 30fps. Or better yet, I would've been giddy if they remade the game using Star Ocean 5's engine.

IQDB is a good friend for finding sources if you need them. But I'd seen an animated gif of the scene that was from posted a long time back, so I already knew what it was from, at least.

To my knowledge, all the PS4 PS2 "HD" versions are just upscalings of the prior versions graphically, as opposed to rerendering from the original models/textures, or whatever (IE: Go from raw to 1080 or whatever, instead of raw to 480i), though that would probably require that the devs still keep the original assets around. Beyond that, to my knowledge it's just trophies that were added.

Would be nice if some of the harder to find PS2 games at least got cleared for the rerelease treatment to give them another day in the limelight, but it seems like it's the common, cheap, really easy to find ones that are prone to that treatment (much how it's been with the PS3's PS2 Classic selection). I do hope that, for the sake of those without an IDE'd PS2, or access to a good enough machine for PCSX2, that the likes of .hack (IMOQ and G.U.), Shadow Hearts, etc, find their way into the PS4 rerelease platter, but I'm not betting on it. Hell, even with the PS1 Classics library on the PS3 faring better, there were still a lot of worthy games missing from there, and some publishers/rights holders just don't seem to care anymore about making their older stuff better available (and I mean that in regards to games where the company owning them still exists, rather than going bankrupt and their games entering a confusing hell of who owns what).

From what I've heard, it might be better not to. Granted, I haven't played it either since i don't have a PS4 myself.

I could be wrong, but that might be a trait a number of those PS4 PS2 classics suffer. Think I've heard of others suffering it; whether or not they've gotten patched to fix those issues, or just left as is, I have no idea. I'm just glad that I have a working PS2 and my games still work fine on it. Too much stuff that will never see a PSN rerelease.
It's like they don't want to capitalize on the series' increasing popularity out here to let people have another means of playing older games they may/may not be able to find, or have the systems to play them with anymore.

On that note, I'm still surprised that Sony still hasn't gotten around to a PS4 PS1 rerelease library, like the PS3, PSP, and Vita had access to.

It is a pretty fun show, though these days I've seen anons act a bit mixed on it.

I liked it but I can see why it's got mixed reaction now compared to when it's just released.
The entire thing is hype as hell, the art style works well for what it is, and the music compliments the moments greatly, Kamina had his moment and he wasn't ruined by some stupid development, Shimon had his development and maturing process, and throughout the story, other characters develop too, like Roshiu turning from a bland puppet into a dependable ally in the first arc, then into an unlikable cunt in the beginning of the second arc, and then had his final mature development like Shimon when Kamina died, and then there's Virals and Spiral King. But when all is said and done, despite parodying the cliches by going over the top with those cliches, the show itself is still full of cliches. Most of the show is pretty predictable.
It's a show that has its good and bad, and it's recommended a lot probably because everyone who watched it can see its good and bad points.

You guys seen the movies? They're even more over the top, and fucking great.
Of course it helps to have seen the show beforehand.

Admittedly it's been a while since I saw an honest-to-goodness TTGL thread on 8ch (the show did air a decade or so back now), but if I remember correctly the divide seemed to be more about two things: when, if ever, the show went downhill (some people find the post time-skip arc to be ridiculous, other people complain about the show continuing after Kamina's death, etc), and whether or not the show was detrimental to imageboard anime communities (the show's popularity potentially bringing undesirables with it; seen similar said about other particular 2007 anime as well). Personally, I found it great pretty much the whole way through (barring episode 16 just being a recap, and episode 4 being animated so badly that 2ch broke the guest animator's spirit in response to it), but that's just me. I do hope you've considered watching Parallel Works as well; those are rather fun, if mostly non-canon (barring embed related, and maybe PW9, which seems to be an attempt at explaining where he got King Kittan between episodes, but is still rather ambiguous).

Also, as says, Gurren-hen and Lagann-hen are a lot of fun, but more-so the latter. Both are official abridged retellings of a sort with some things changed around or added, with Lagann-hen feeling more worthwhile in my experiences. I do wish though that they'd have still found a way/time to include the fight with Lordgenome in the former though, as that instead happens between the films.

Double K was a fan comic created with, if memory serves, a combined idea from both /a/ and Holla Forums from years back. Basically take the cast and over-the-top vibe of TTGL, set it in a Miami Vice like setting ("Teppelin Beach"), and have Kamina and Kittan as buddy cops (and Simon as a rookie Kamina was trying to take under his wing). It was actually pretty damn good, and well-stylized too (some panels making for prime reaction images, even years back). Unfortunately, just as the plot was ramping up (the series was drawn and uploaded a page at a time), the guy that was drawing it took an extended leave of absence. Supposedly, he got a gig as a professional pianist, or something. He still uploads occasional artwork in his classic style (including one anniversary image for TTGL, that just feels like taunting Double K fans at this point), but he's since taken his masterpiece down, and doesn't acknowledge its existence. The reason for which is still unclear. Anyhow, it was a really good fanwork for TTGL while it lasted. I'm pretty sure I've got the entirety of what he did put out for the comic (additional materials included) saved on my computer.

Makes me wonder if he somehow got hit with a C&D over it, with part of the terms being to not mention why he took everything down.

No they aren't. For both, you suffer pointlessly through about an hour and a half of overly-condensed, re-edited footage footage from the show in order to get to the awesome new fights and bare Yoko breasts inserted at the ends. The story is told much, much better as a TV series and if you really must watch the movies, you may as well just skip to the 1:30 mark and don't look back.

Also left the filenames as is, aside from making the comic pages into simple numbers for easier knowing where one is. He used to have his own site for it as well (hence the banner), but it's long since gone.
