When buying new consoles I like to make sure it has at least 5 exclusives that are must plays. I understand that it's early days for the Switch, but what does it have that I can't really get anywhere else (or what is it getting soon)?
The following don't count:
I genuinely want the Switch to succeed, and I wouldn't mind getting one myself. The promise of a popular (so not a flop like the Wii U) console built on local multiplayer is alluring. I just don't want to make a bad purchase too early.
Parker Nguyen
Splat2n and ARMS, that's all I got. maybe mario x rabbids too :^) why?
Connor Hughes
Bomberman R I guess. It's kinda ass looking. I recommend you wait 2 years.
Christian Reed
Wii U was a flop?
Parker Edwards
very much so.
Chase Anderson
I guess I never noticed when I was using mine
Lucas Torres
I like the idea (dream) Nintendo are pushing. A portable local multiplayer focused console. My best Wii U memories involve Nintendoland, MarioKart and Sm4sh with more friends than the player count allowed. That same experience but portable and well supported sounds amazing
Angel Evans
Bomberman R and PuyoPuyoxTetris both fit the bill of what I'm looking for.
Kayden Gonzalez
What did he mean by this?
Jaxon Cooper
NO MIIVERSE, NO BUY
Lincoln Watson
Here you go, it's just this year.
Henry Phillips
Nintendrones said the same thing about the WiiU, too bad all the other consoles were about as shitty if not shittier.
Joseph Gray
I can't get away from Nintendo. I'm a Nintendrone in rehab, so I'll buy a used Switch when a revision or hacks come out. Fight da powah, get free shit.
Zachary Watson
I know 12 other people
Jacob Myers
Wii U was my first Nintendo console. I'm a sucker for local multiplayer.
William Hernandez
Impressive, but what about them?
Connor Carter
They also have Wii Us
Nathaniel Anderson
And that's very anecdotal evidence, and not representative of the actual success of the product. I mean I know several people including myself who have wiius, doesn't mean it sold well in general.
Blake Clark
I also have a Wii U
Benjamin Allen
Short answer: No. It only has Zelda and ports and indie shit at the moment. But the long answer is: There are due out by the end of the year. And these are also coming:
Jackson Turner
Here's every Switch exclusive that fits your criteria: Arms (Nintendo) Fire Emblem Untitled Project (Nintendo) No More Heroes Untitled Project (Grasshopper Manufacture) Project Octopath Traveler (Square Enix) Shin Megami Tensei Untitled Project (Atlus) Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo) Splatoon 2 (Nintendo) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Nintendo) Super Bomberman R (Konami)
There will definitely be new game announcements around E3, so wait till then.
I already saw a $30/40% off used copy of Bomberman at a local shop so keep that in mind for overpriced games.
Matthew Morgan
The information that I the other user am attempting to portray to you that in my personal situation that I can observe and relay to you a third party to this information that at the time in question which can be inferred to be around the years 2012 to 2017 on a personal level I did not experience the issues of a "flopped" system in the age of multiplayer heavy games in which that the obvious and notable effects of a commercial failure being the lack of an active community and player base, the fact that my acquaintanceship is equal to or exceeding the total queue limitation for the software capable of online multiplayer that I am in possession of a license to access to a limited client version, therefore limiting my ability to observe any sort of commercial failure of the system
Anthony Gutierrez
Is that fucking Todd Howard?
Thomas Gonzalez
Doesn't really matter if it affects you personally though does it? If it flops OP's chances of finding others with switchs decreases, and nintendo will act according to sales numbers.
Ryan Young
like anyone owns a Wii U.
Lucas Garcia
I'm in the same boat OP. There are a few games on the system that I want to try, but none that would tip me over the edge into a purchase.
If the new Mario game is good, I'll probably be convinced. If they announce a new metroid game that isn't like Other M I'll definitely be convinced.
Funnily enough I have the same problem with the Xbone. There are a few games that I really want to play, but after that horrible launch, I'm going to need a lot more convincing.
Juan Torres
Being what? Honestly what exclusives did the boner even have?
Julian Carter
Raiden V but that's on PS4/PC soon so I might just sell this paperweight.
Aaron Cruz
Rare Replay, Forza, Dead Rising and the Halo collection.
I'm mostly betting that Microsoft will throw in the towel soon and just release them on PC. Because I really, really doubt they are going to come out with anything that's going to convince me to buy an xbone.
Julian Allen
MCC PC was already leaked I thought
Isaiah Jones
...
Cooper Garcia
The switch isn't even close for me to warrent a purchase And even the PS4 still has a ways to go
Hunter Baker
Source?
Lincoln Reyes
user I'm too poor to have a good PC, I only buy a console when it has good games and I can pirate them
Liam Murphy
400 dollars and you'll get one that can play pretty much anything
Adam Martinez
I'm not American try doubling that number
Jace Thompson
I'm European as well
Ian Bell
I'm a shitposter
Anthony Green
You're a Pajeet?
Julian Morgan
Arms is going to get really boring really fast. I'm enjoying it but I can never be bothered to play for the entire hour when it's on. Also most the game modes are jump and grab to win. I'm still going to buy any edition they release with a Min Min amiibo though because she's a qt.
Splatoon 2 is shaping up to be more Splatoon 1.5 than 2. I feel a bit cheated over that they're rushing this game in so quickly. Though it's not like MK8 Deluxe where they just package all the DLC and add a few new things, it's got its own new content…
Those third party games they've promised are still nowhere to be seen, and no announcements have been made for anything worthwhile.
If you aren't interested in Arms or Splatoon 2 then there's no reason to get one at all. Anything else is either ported or a small indie title that's not really a console seller.
Hudson Hernandez
because its cute
Adam Butler
But if it fails you can bully her even harder like ouya, wouldn't that be great?
Jack Morgan
Likely in-development or being ported, there's a FIFA game by EA that's Switch exclusive that I recall.
The dog is for bully, shortstack porn, and complaining about other Switch-tans not having taken root like the dog did.
Isaac Allen
I want to bully her with my dick
Jose Price
Costs about triple that in Downunder Dingo-Dollars to get anything worthwhile.
Carson Brooks
That's just the same FIFA as the others just downgraded a little and rebranded. I don't give a rat's ass about garbage EA shits out, I want something from Spike, Level 5, Marvelous or Cri that isn't a port/remaster
Luis Torres
how much is your duty on electronics? it shouldn't be quite that bad as long as you import.
Elijah Martin
How much depth is there to ARMs anyway? Or is it just hyped up Wii boxing?
I'm pretty interested in Splatoon 2, I loved the first one but circumstances prevented me from playing it at all this year
Jack Nguyen
There is depth to Arms. However the effort behind utilising that depth is wasted. You can win most, if not all fights in the game by getting close, and grabbing the hell out of your opponent. Grabbing is successful even if a single glove hits the enemy, and pulls them into an animation they can't escape unless you get hit during it. It does very respectable damage and you can charge your fist while they're recovering.
This will probably change in ranked matches, but the meta right now is spamming grab.
Charles Bailey
So you would rather buy every game for 100 dollars?
Gavin Cruz
...
Evan Rogers
I bet Level 5 half asses what they release Platinum already confirmed that they had something in the works for Switch, I wonder what it is and I actually want either a sequel to Madworld, a sequel to W101, or a Platinum game based on a Nintend IP I hope Story of Seasons Switch is good, I hope Marvelous put out a Rune Factory for Switch, but we haven't heard anything about that series in years.
Nothing like Wii boxing, there's a lot of depth, positioning is very important and the hit boxes appear to be very tight, I've seen some crazy dodges from Helix players, but you really should wait to see how the Fighting game community reacts if you want to see if it's anything really complex, it's definitely fun if not hard.
Grabbing is cheap, I saw one guy who would aim the grabs so that they would hit just as the other player got up, but a player could just roll to the side before getting up, I don't think the other player had yet realized this, I think it's just because it's easy you see it a lot but once players start actually playing you will see it balance. hopefully that's the case.
Owen Barnes
...
Christopher Gray
That's the thing, most people don't know what to do. In target practice mode you want to grab and throw a few punches at your opponent inbetween rounds for extra points/more freedom to break targets, but people ignore them.
In team battles you want to break your allies out of juggles/grabs by quickly switching targets and hitting the aggressor, but they don't bother. Even worse is when fighting against Hemlok when they'll allow a combo to go through instead of helping you out.
The cooperation in the game would be better with voice chat, something that's not going to come until 2018 now.
Brayden Baker
I don't understand this argument because so many people skipped the WiiU that getting games like MK8D or BoTW seems like the natural move to make. It's like saying that the Dreamcast games ported to Xbox don't count. So few people bought the thing that for a lot of people that could be their first run-in with it.
Cooper Stewart
I honestly dont know what Nintendo is doing. Why bring out another portable to compete with your current portable? Why remove all the features you had on your 3ds and Wii U? Why are you making people voice chat through a smartphone? So many stupid decisions. I can only wonder how the business meetings are going.
Carson Rivera
I'll make my argument for getting a switch precisely because of its ports : So I got one, with zelda and fast rmx. Looking forward to some releases this year. If I end up not liking anything else on the console I ight sell it in the future. But I'm definitely not getting a WiiU now
Oliver Williams
You don't want to finally feel a woman's breasts? :^)
Jack Foster
the idea is probably that they'll add a much more robust OS that includes shit like VC and Street Pass. Notice how minimal the OS is now when compared to say the 3DS and WiiU. I'm expecting a complete overhaul either this holiday or holiday 2018.
Christopher Lewis
What would a Switch V2 be like, anyway? Changing the size or shape would fuck up the central gimmick because the controllers slot into the sides.
Nathan Howard
If they change the size, I guarantee they'll sell new joycons for people to buy. And those people will buy it cause they're cucks
Brandon Gomez
basically the Switch you have now is running a half baked OS that was made in 2 weeks and was originally a dev kit UI. Then when holiday hits they'll announce the actual OS and get good PR and hype points.
Jose Butler
New joycons and hardware probably
Carson Price
You can also buy PC games at full price. Don't say piracy.
Pretty low duty on small stuff, but the shipping cost out to the middle of fucking Woop Woop and the dogshit Australian dollar kills it.
David Sanchez
Piracy
Mason Kelly
The Switch is portable but not to the extent that a 3DS is (it likely doesn't fit in your pocket). Maybe it's wishful thinking, but there is probably a true successor to the 3DS coming soonish that will have StreetPass, etc. If this is the case then I could see features being left out of the Switch so that there's more reasons to buy the new portable.
Josiah Bailey
Except the Wii U had the same features as the 3ds, minus the street pass. If they're waiting to release something later, it's very horrible timing and wishful thinking for that to be the business strategy.
Justin Ross
i'd say half the electronic components in my house are shipped from china to myself in canada. our dollar is bad and the duty is pretty high but the shipping costs have never been an issue, i think per small package it's only like $5-10.
the successor is the switch mini, which still probably won't fit in your pocket.
Cameron Cruz
V2 will be if it ever releases a die shrink with an improved battery life, a better stand and increased internal storage, other than that you will only see a Switch successor with support for all Switch accessories but possbly more advanced Joycons.
I doubt it, Nintendo said they are comitting to one development platform, and any 3ds games on the horizon are ones ending development not ones entering development.
I hope we only see more Switch in the future, I really like the idea of one platform being able to play all of Nintendo's games.
Dylan Ross
Also it has PuyoPuyoTetris
Xavier Gutierrez
Technically it doesn't. It's not an exclusive.
Brayden Mitchell
Wait, was FE Warirors confirmed to release in 2017?
Lincoln Ward
This stupid fucking company chart looks exactly like the WiiU's.
Jack Miller
There isn't a XenoX port for Switch though (and probably won't be).
I do think they should bring over at least Star Fox Zero (came out very late and probably no one played it as a result, also a chance to fix the controls) and Mario Maker (I mean there is potential for infinite updates with this game, they'll probably do this one). Some kind of Bayo1/2 collection would be great, too (esp. if Bayo3 comes to Switch). They probably won't port anything else, though.
Carson Kelly
I am Aussie

I bought an Xbone at launch and sold it in 2015. Zero worthwhile exclusives Forza 5 sucks ass compared to 4, and everything I was buying were multiplats and on PC and I felt retarded not just getting a new graphics card instead. I still feel exactly the same when looking at the bone's library today.
Christopher Price
Dead Rising 3 and 4 are on PC btw
Wyatt Cook
be reddit somewhere else, cuckchanner.
Angel Bell
restore from 404
Nathan Gutierrez
How times have changed.
Levi Evans
Plus the things they'll eventually bring, like Pokemon (mainline and spin offs), Kirby, Donkey Kong etc.
Wait another 12 months and it should be worth getting second hand.
Alexander Nguyen
thats on the 3ds too
Asher Baker
I'd love to buy a switch but, I'd only buy one when it's hacked.
Back when I first got a 3ds i wanted to buy mariokart 7 from the eShop but, the game was fucking $70 (aud)
All that shit said once this gets hacked, it'd be the perfect emulation machine.
In theory it could emulate games up to the gamecube.
