I wouldn't be against disc-based DRM. It's moderately effective and good for consumers (physical copy is better than a digital one).
They'll never do it, as publishers want low overheads by selling only digital copies and retards want things installed to their drives without changing their disc drive because they've been spoiled for decades.

The people making Denuvo make a new version of Denuvo for every request so they can keep up with being the "uncrackable" drm. Most versions cause performance issues, most recent example being Rime. Other versions require a call home to run. It's varying degrees of shit and a huge gamble whenever it's implemented.

DRM is always an anti-feature. Extra complexity layered on to reduce what you can do with a game.
