Also, Fire Emblem probably doesn't cost very much to make compared to most other franchises. And even something like Fire Emblem Warriors which will be more on the higher end as far as FE games go is being outsourced.
They know that it's more worth their time from a business perspective to focus on a franchise that is relatively cheap to produce and yet sells in higher volumes. There are very good reasons why FE is getting more attention that Star Fox or Metroid atm.

Look at a game like Tomodachi Life though, the game somehow manages to break into the 5 million mark despite being a meme game. I'm not disagreeing, but the failure of Star Fox is more of an issue with the lack of attention to the series. Fire Emblem is small potatoes anyway.

Well Star Fox is dead and Metroid is likely being worked on for Switch/3DS at the moment. FE is a distraction if anything, until the big games are ready to go.
