Because they've been trying to capitalize the otaku market.
Why does Nintendo want to keep this weebo pandering shit tier franchise alive? When franchises like Donkey Kong...
So how many "culture adaptations" are they going to make in this one?
Nothing that assumes natural gender roles or puts "stronk women" in vulnerable positions I'm guessing.
They're not doing a very good job.
I'm not talking about Treehouse.
NoJ seems to be trying to capitalize that market and try to get some of those otaku bucks.
Echoes was pretty straight for the most part.
Oh. Yeah, NoJ is completely going for the otaku buck. I imagine this sort of things makes a shit load more dosh then it does in the US.
Cause making a matchmaker game in cover of a shitty copy/paste TRPG is easy money.
Put simply, they're getting shit load of money out of little to no effort.
Because:
A) Nintendo is retarded.
B) IIRC fire emblem sold like hotcakes and they want to ride the wave.
C) Making a strategy game is infinity easier than making a 3d platformer.
E) They are afraid that whatever they put out will get the same reaction as duke nukem forever, Starfox adventures, and most sonic games got. Which is to say, the fans screaming "THE OLD ONES WERE BETTER! YOU FUCKED IT ALL UP!" Admittedly they deserved most of it.
F) They are scared that the switch is going to fail as hard as the WiiU so they want to go with a "sure bet" like a new fire emblem, because they already KN OW that the audience is there, unlike DK, SF, Kirby and Metroid.
The thing is, there is a market for this stuff in the USA, but NoA let Treehouse ruin things with Mirage Sessions by censoring stuff that only alienated the one niche demographic who probably would have bought the game.
And I honestly don't think it's really a matter of politics with Treehouse, I think it's about money. If they can't find more stuff that needs "localizing" or censoring, then there's really not much point in Nintendo continuing to hire them. Also, Nintendo of America seems at odds with itself at times when it comes to its image. I think they just didn't really have a clue how to handle something like Mirage Sessions.
None of those sell shit so I don't know what you thing the word marketable means.
