Rime

Anyone play this? I want to know if it's worth $30 or if I should wait for the crack. I enjoyed Abzul which this is being compared to a lot.

Why am I not surprised ?

My thoughts as well, but I'm being impatient. Wasn't Prey cracked in under a week?

Abzu is underwater swimming exploration. How can this be similar to swimming among colorful schools of fish while a shark pops up occasionally ?

It did, I guess we're going to see if Baldman has the cracking down to a consistent rate.

It probably has Denuvo because once word spreads it's another 4 hour game with banal as fuck puzzles people will be lining up in droves to pirate that shit.

it's a minimalist walking sim with puzzles and no words

Not praising OP's game or anything, because I also don't know much about it.

But goddamn denuvo has become the fox's grapes at this point.
I get it, denuvo sucks, but posts like this were absent when it was revealed that Nier would have it too. Denuvo shitposting has to stop.

Well what do you know, they have made a sticky about denuvo on the steam forums.

Sure it fucking didn't.

gets removed if cracked

That's a lie, and you know it

It has the stench of leftism to it.

I didn't buy doom till they took out the denvo so fuck you. Same with any current game.

I honestly don't care about Denuvo at all, especially considering that it's been cracked and is only used to prevent piracy during the first week of sale. Which I guess is effective in that regard. As a walking sim enthusiast, I just want to know if it's even worth my time.

How so?

It's not like pirates are going to magically buy the game if it's not cracked on day one.

The character and artstyle scream "pretentious hipsters made me".

I'm getting more of a shota vibe.

Heh

It's almost like they're just using this fagged up shit just for publicity at this point.

Nobody's going to give enough of a shit about this game to bother cracking it.

Come to think of it, wasn't this a PS3 game that got cancelled or did I get it confused with something else?

If you're gonna jew, you might as well go full jew.

Yes, I posted the thread where they say it
They still say it's necessary to prevent themselves from starving, that it has no impact on the customer and shit like that though.

No it isn't. Maybe I wasn't clear at first. What I said was: As soon as it's announced that a games has denuvo, people complain about the game's quality, and that's a problem in itself.
A game being good or not doesn't correlate with it's anti-piracy policy.
And I haven't seen A SINGLE COMMENT saying that Nier was objectivelly a bad game because it had denuvo. Pirates were upset that it took them some time to play it. But noone dissed it's quality.
And THAT is what bothers me. If I create a thread to discuss some game, comments like
don't help a single bit

My point exactly. Fuck you too kind sir.

it was being hyped on NeoGAF as the Zelda killer back in like 2014 or so yeah.

I just want more r34 made.

Alright so you haven't been around since it has been cracked and someone other than starry-eyed fans could play it. At release people at least gave it the benefit of the doubt in the face of fans going "10/10 MUST SUPPORT". After the crack the picture wasn't nearly as rosy.

I don't know about other anons, but when I say I wont buy a game because of Denuvo, it's just that. I don't want to support Denuvo.
Not because I think slapping Denuvo on a game makes it a bad one.
then of course there's the fact that most games with Denuvo are actually shit, but that's another matter

I have a legitimate question, what's wrong with denuvo? I mean why would anyone expect a developer not to use an anti-piracy software to stop people pirating their game?

Piracy is a service problem.

That is still a lie and you still know it. It might have taken the form of "well, then I won't buy it, nice move square", but it still very much meant that its quality wasn't so good it warranted supporting denuvo. And that was such a widespread sentiment droves of anons started to go straight "shut up and buy it". Or don't you remember the thread that started with "lol CPY isn't cracking nier because it's a good game and you should support emilface"? Seems to me you're just butthurt the crack didn't instantly absolve the game of all sins and that in fact many aren't ready to go full goy for a middle finger of a PC port.

Watched a bit of gameplay and it was just walking around and touching things to make them glow and I stopped watching.

...

...

here it is.

What is going on? This isn't the first time this has happened recently.

Yeah, and then they immediately turned on the devs once they announced the game was gonna be multiplat. Nearly bullied the team into complete depression.

what a bunch of weak willed faggots.

This is true.

That's not actually true. Making sure that pirates can't offer a superior version of the game probably eliminates all net sales lost to piracy (since piracy causes some sales) but a bunch of people are still going to pirate your game if it's worth playing at all. There are plenty of people who just aren't interested in paying for video games, and nothing you can do will get them to buy your game. Saying "piracy is a service problem" makes people think you can stop that kind of piracy by offering a better service. You can't. The correct thing to say is that piracy is not a problem naturally, and you can prevent it from becoming a problem by ensuring pirated copies are not superior to purchased copies.

Not worth it.

You know what I'd wanna do if I had a game to sell? I'd put the game up on crack sites myself, but add a little blurb at the start like "if you like the game, think about sending some money my way" or something.

No game that has denuvo is worth 30$

...

it has a caucasoid skull, clearly a spic

which makes sense, as the developer is a spic

Yuuup. s'only a matter of time before we go full zoo.

Soon brother. Soon.

That's what most game crackers do. They give u a small message before or after installation to purchase it if you like the game.

It's probably worth more you'll ever make in your petty little life. That's a fact.

No.
It's already been cracked.

Yes. If you like walking sims/puzzles and pretty stuff and young boys.
No, if you hate overly feminine infantile bullshit.

So are we getting some porn of this kid, or what?

I played through it, it's about a 6/10. Gameplay is "walking simulator" but it's done extremely well, in particular the music is great and the game is worth it just to listen to the musical cues.

My main compliant is with the plot, it's not told very well. Specifically, spoilerthe entire game happens because the player character went overboard a boat and died, the "game" itself is either the father playing mindgames with himself or the player waking up 1000+ years into the future and coping with his father's absence.

This isn't spelled out good, because the original cutscene that establishes the kid going overboard isn't revealed until the fourth act, and there are three different versions of the scene. Also, there is ZERO closure other than a bland "accept it, he's dead" message which I think could have been improved upon. A bit more backstory, and a slightly longer ending would have gone a long way here.spoiler

I think this would have worked better as a movie than a game (if it was a movie, I'd probably like it more). A solid pirate, if only because the game can be beaten in about 4-6 hours and is a good waste of a hungover morning.

I originally posted this before the crack came out, check the date.

I was kind of looking forward to this as well, fuck me.

Yeah, that's a pretty obvious flaw in the game. It tries too hard and screws itself up.

As I see it, if all the three useless "overboard" scenes were deleted and the correct one shown at the start, the game would be a LOT better because it'd be a lot easier to keep track of things. The space saved could have gone to backstory/character building (more scenes with the father), and the ending more conclusive (either a dead body washing up on a beach, or the player waking up alive in reality).

These plot issues aren't too major though, a Rime: Directors Cut DLC could fix this even if it'd piss off buyfags. It's really just a matter of ordering the plot scenes right and making a better ending cutscene. The actual game part of the game itself can remain intact.

Also, I still think Rime is worth playing despite all of this. The best way of describing it is a blemished gem, the game looks great (at least when Denuvo isn't killing the framerate) and sounds amazing, but the plot just isn't there. Most importantly, it doesn't overstay it's welcome and isn't repetitive.
