Who here played Liberty City Stories? I played the absolute fuck out of it as a kid. You have no idea how good it felt to be able to put on headphones and not have to worry about keeping the TV volume low and making sure I don't trigger a sexual cutscene while mom's looking.

Pretty sure it's always been considered 'good' but not 'great' or 'excellent'. Much like VC it really sells itself on its atmosphere and there's nothing wrong with that; you'll get a lot more out of the game if you buy into the setting and story.

So why do people shit on GTA V? It was a lot of fun all through the story mode, exploring mountains for alien shit, skydiving, cheat mode rampages, cool missions, awesome heists, fun as fuck driving, pretty good radio, and the most incredible graphics I'd ever seen at the time (PC at ultra still looks amazing). Now, I would never go back to it. It's got some real shitty missions, I've seen all there is to see, the story kind of gets really retarded, and it doesn't allow for the absolute unbridled absurdity of the older 3d ones. But that doesn't make it a bad game. It's a solid 7.9/10 that seriously impressed on a first playthrough, which is not that bad.

The charaters are boring and one-dimensional, your actions are petty and incosequential, the missions are not that good and full of filler. Besides, there's barely anything to do apart from the missions.

There is no other game in the GTA series that really captured such a great atmosphere. I can't really pin-point how it feels, but it isn't really comfy but more engaging.

This is what bothers me. None of the characters in V are relatable at ALL. With one protag, he needs to have at least some relatable traits, while with three they just created characters with zero consideration as to how the player related with them because "lel there's three and they'll relate with one of them" which is not the case.
