To answer the question, though, I'd argue that both SA and plebbit have created great works- the issue is they can never fucking maintain them. A goon made Marble Hornets, probably one of the spookiest things made in just the right time. Then the quality started to degrade with later seasons, and they ended up selling out and writing for those shitty "Slender" games which were blatant ripoffs of their own work anyway.

The issue with reddit and SA (as they can usually be lumped together at this point) is that they still revolve around identities. This, in turn, inevitably leads to small groups of people who rise above the rest that the rest worship. And inevitably, this worship and hype gets to the content creators, and they fall. In fact, there's usually people actively seeking other people to worship at those places (and many others)- it's ridiculous. It's why the "/ourguy/" thing is the most reddit-tier thing to come about, and utter fucking cancer. Stop looking for people to worship.

Furthermore, it's not like every dev exclusively browses one board. Your "identity" shouldn't come from which board you browse- a sense of pride for not being a cock gargling faggot, sure, but don't expect or demand "sides" to be important to content creators. Especially when, by their nature, they've left the "user" identity to become a content creator and forge their own identity.

Not giving you the name, but I will say it's a shooter that takes inspiration from Devil Daggers and expands on it a great deal. It has a killer feature that I haven't seen done in pretty much any other FPS and we're hoping it generates interest. I honestly don't understand why RoR is as popular as it is.

The enemies take so many hits to kill that I feel like I'm grinding in an MMO with every single enemy. The bosses take like a minute of nonstop gunning to kill even when you can cheese them from another platform or something. The movement is so limited that you can barely avoid the flying squids at all unless you have a dodge saved up or RNG gave you some movement items. The movement also prevents the long winded fighting from being actually exciting, instead it's this monotonous back and forth thing for minutes until their HP is out.

The enemy spam it does also makes me wonder if there really is supposed to be a "tactic" that doesn't involve running away and shooting backwards until you have to turn around and hope your dodge avoids most of the 7 different enemies' attacks.
