This worked incredibly well for me, and i had tried all kinds of snake oil to reduce crashes.
After starting the game, open the task manager, go to the details tab, left click on the game exe and select "set affinity" then set NieR to run on only 2 physical cores.

The game sort of works in Wine according to appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=35238 , but parts of the game are apparently way too bright and enemy bullets are invisible.
Invisible bullets still didn't stop the reviewer from reaching ending A.

I recently play Nier. It's pretty short and the only thing that really takes up time is grinding to upgrade weapons, which is completely unnecessary and fucking retarded. Autotmata is as least twice as long if not more. There's much less repetition when going down the alternate routes.

I would buy it as soon as humanly possible if they got rid off Denuvo.
