VR

Why do people hype this shit so much?

It's a new gimmick that's open endless realms according to the same people giggling over the internet of things. The market wants a new internet just like the federal government wants a new pearl harbor, if you get my drift.

Lots of idiots on both sides think it's suited for everything, the truth is that it's great for cockpit based simulators and shit for everything else.
If you own a steering wheel or flight stick you are going to want one eventually when the res improves, if you aren't into sims it's a waste of time.

If you ever tried you'd know

VR does have the potential to open the door to a ton of new gameplay possibilities by removing the necessity of the mouse being used to manipulate the camera, but nobody's going to bother doing anything interesting anyways so I don't know. I haven't tried it myself but somehow I get the feeling that those faggots who complain about getting motion sickness are the same niggers who say 60 FPS gives them headaches.

The motion sickness is real in games where you move around, be it walking or teleportation you will hit a wall eventually. That said it's something you can train and be able to last longer and longer with practice.

Because of this, you don't want this?

(((People)))

A few years ago it was wagglan. Then it was motion control. Now it's VR. Any bets on what shit gimmick they'll come up with next?

Because people have been told for years that VR is the future, even back when it was purely sci-fi. It's the same deal as flying cars, once something resembling that comes around, people are going to force it as hard as possible regardless of how impractical it is just because "it's the future".

Not being able to move around severely limits what current VR is capable of doing. The only way to make it work would be some sort of omni-directional treadmill which would cost a fucking ton, or if they were to focus on games that actually involve sitting in one place, like some sort of mech based game.

Standard KBM or controller movement is perfectly suitable. See the VR version of Serious Sam 2nd encounter. The problem is weak stomached casuals who don't want to spend even a few hours getting acclimated, because they don't care about gaming as a legitimate hobby, they just want another 30 minute time waster that's as quick to pick up as a phone game.

do you have more ?

Why do people have iPhones? It's shiny and new and the latest and greatest tech thing even when it's pretty useless and not that novel.

Because people fell for marketing, and they wanted to be cool since everyone else was apparently getting into vr.

Only SFM loops, have one.

Normalfags may be slaves to their social media shit apps but giving almost everyone decent quality cameras in their pocket is a very good thing. Let people report on current events without (((news corporations))) filtering it.

The gimmicky value and also because it's brand new so it's easier for certain people to worm in and try to be top dogs and gatekeepers. Game journos find too much resistance in regular games these days that's why they are going full force on shilling VR

Reminder that the vocal minority who hates VR here only started to do it after the price reveal.

I tried out a VR headset with dual motion controllers (HTC Vive specifically) and despite there being nothing to fucking play on them I can attest it's some impressive technology. I played some crappy VR Arena Dodgeball game and it was incredible how much it being in VR changed things. Crouching in real life equated to your character ducking, you could shoot 180° where you were looking or over/around walls. You could hold a ball and actually smack another ball out of the air with it so it didn't kill you. The game was utter shit (mostly because it did that fucking retarded grenade teleport movement), but the immersion of being able to bodily move around and manipulate things with the motion controllers was phenomenal. Plain VR with K+M is one thing but having motion controllers and movement tracking on the headset is a huge step up that really makes it feel like you're actually in the game world to an extent.

Yeah, it pretty much is a given fact that the loud vocal minority against VR are just (probably NEET) poorfags.

VR porn

who are you trying to convince all that money wasn't wasted?

VR absolutely has its problems make no mistake. Anons have said that it's not worth it for the average consumer and they're right. There's no "killer app" for VR. No big or even medium-end studio has made a dedicated VR title (PSVR crap doesn't count). Valve could (and SHOULD if they want VR to succeed) with all their billions but they don't make games anymore. VR is also held back by a minority of weak stomached faggots that make developers lobotomize their games with teleport movement, instead of allowing ratcheting down the FOV and similar ways to reduce motion sickness.

PORN

The raging VR hate boner started when the facebook buyout was announced.

Unfortunately, room scale is destined to forever be a gimmick. It's impossible to build a game of any real substance with a decent budged around room scale movement, because there's no standard for room size.

Different settings for different room sizes and shapes.

Roomscale is a self-limiting meme. The only reasonable solutions are that slippery-floor circle thing you stand in or just movement via a joystick on the motion controller.

Are you two subhuman, asian or female? Because I don't know a single person that can't handles VR do to motion sickness, I mean, sure, some get motion sickness the first couple of times (I never experienced it myself, kind of wonder how it feels), but ALL of them got over it after a few tries.
Some people had motion sickness with the first fully 3D FPS, people get used to it.

This. Games like Onward and SS have proven that you can have traditional games on VR, it doesn't need to be a gimmick. Onward for example started off with no teleportation while the Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand grenades dev wouldn't dare to offer regular movement because it would induce motion sickness on people.

Or you could just stay inside of a giant trackball.

Yeah, but that is gonna cost a fuckload more. Also raises the problem of how you get the cords in, or if you're going to try running everything on battery power.

Point proven.

It has the potential to be good, but combine this with retarded developers, consumers that gets motion sickness from walking, walled garden enthusiasts and being overpriced for what it actually does. It's not looking very promising. I wanted some cool ass 360-degree light-gun shooters that make full use of the technology, but as of right now, I only see $60 half-assed shooting galleries made in a weekend.
Maybe it'll be worth it in a couple of years down the line, but I'm not hopeful.

I want to smack you in the face right now. FOV is easily one of the best aspects of VR, you can finally have high FOV without deformation and you want to turn it down? Grow a fucking pair of balls and, if you're a woman, go back to your fucking kitchen.

Leaving my anger aside: NO COMPANY IN THEIR SANE MIND will invest money on an actual game for such a small market. Adoption for VR was never going to be that high, right from the get go the number of rigs capable of running VR properly is rather low as it is. The price tag of the headsets was fixed with that in mind, this wasn't a console release, Valve probably got back their investment just with this headset line.
What VR needs before it can get proper games is:
After all of that, you get games.

Okay, there's lolicon and then there's this shit.
This is borderline pedophilia.

It's definitely romanticized by people who "don't want to live in reality". They welcome VR because it's a very immersive form of escapism. Dreams are built upon delusion, so they think that we're on our way to Sword Art Online tier VRMMORPG games, when in reality we'll be seeing a $40/mo version of No Man's Sky.

That being said, a few anons have pointed out that VR is impressive and indeed it is. I bought the Samsung VR headset since I have an S7 and I love it for reading manga; I don't have to turn pages and the pages are nice and big in front of me with little quality loss. There are some useful applications for VR and I think video games are rather low on the list, VR is much more suited for walking simulators and other immersive, atmospheric "games". I would rather pay for a VR camera set up at live events so you could "feel" being there at speeches or music concerts, than try to kickstart some developers into making a "VR RPG".

...

Anyone attracted to that is a guaranteed pedophile.

I never said I got motion sickness you dumb fuck. For prissy little faggots that do, you have to agree that it's better to limit FOV than to have fucking grenade teleport movement.
go back to reddit

Most people don't even use smartphones for any smart shit, but most importantly iPhones are just overpriced smartphones. The only thing impressive behind it is the marketing.

...

The difference is that lolis don't look like little girls. Little girls are fucking gross.

That's not how it works dumbass. If you get sexual pleasure from a cartoon representation of a child you could make an argument it's not the same. If you get sexual pleasure from a realistic approximation of a human child you are absolutely a pedophile.

STOP
I don't want to buy a VR headset just yet
Also, be careful, I recently got permaban (that's right, permanent "ban will not be lifted") for posting 4 pics of Natalia on thread about vidya characters you fapped the most to. It was a single post, others were posting lewds and only I was banned, the thread kept going just fine. One of the janitors is either a redditor or a cuckchanner

No fucking compromise, you fucking faggot.

Cry me a river.

You need to kill yourself.

I don't give a shit dude.

I'm not saying I particularly have an issue with it, just stating the facts. You are a pedophile.

Pedophile defense force always on the ready I see.

It's always amusing to see the mental gymnastics they pull.

OP
Oh that was you? That sucks, so much for the loli is allowed thing that Mark was bragging about back when this board was created.

I bet you get motion sickness while playing VR.

If you don't get remorse from murdering a realistic approximation of a innocent human being you are absolutely a psychopath.

Now stop derailing a perfectly viable thread about vidya.

Related to this, Acer and Windows are working on VR with yet another approach to tracking with self contained system, no external tracking device (like Oculus, PSVR or Vive). Acer was behind STARVR, that 210° FOV and 5K headset meant for rent/arcade like business scheme rather than regular consumers. This new headset won't have 5K resolution, but it still is higher than what we currently have going up to 2,880x1,440 (and 90hz). Not sure about price tags, but looks a bit promising if the tracking is good.

They think it will somehow redefine video games when all video games really needs is non-franchise trash and less kikes snuffing promising projects.

...

keep crying

ITT: Poorfags that have never tried VR.
Playing shooters in VR is way more fun, actually aiming and shooting people is better than moving a mouse around. Plus when the gun controllers come out it will be even better.
Racing games are awesome when you have a racing seat and wheel.
Flying & space games are awesome. Elite is cool as fuck in VR.
Then there's games like Sports Bar VR where you can play 8 ball, air hockey and other shit. Eleven Table Tennis is good too. Don't need to buy an 8 ball table or table tennis table I can just play them in VR.
3D porn is pretty good too.
It could do with a being a bit higher res but atm it's just passable. In a year or two it will be amazing.

tldr; you're all a bunch of faggots

>>>/cia/

No I was the guy complaining about those guys but my ID changed. I forgot what this fucking thread was about thanks for reminding me.

Are you serious?

I don't think it was Mark since my ban was lifted after a while (like 6 or 7 days later though).
I'm guessing he took in a "collaborator" who happens to be a moralfag.

My PC is filled with CP, it has been for years, I have stated this both here and on twitter. The CIA has never showed up. I guess they are not in charge

It was meant to be a pity insult, m8. I was implying you're some sort of low-T sub-human excuse of a male.
Anyway, going back to the topic and for those who have never seen what eye tracking could do for VR, here is a video of the Fove headset. Do know, this is a CNET video, I won't mirror it or make a webm out of it.
I know, eye-tracking could open up a door to an assortment of jewish shit for marketing as they could measure the attention people pay to adds and whatnot, but -if done correctly- we could have proper DOF for the first time ever and improve hardware use and efficiency.

It's supposed to be the final frontier of gaming. We've waited so long for this many in the industry have already passed away before they could even experience it despite all their efforts. This is Where the lines between reality and game become near indistinguishable and the ultimate in immersion is finally achieved.

Because people are fucking simple and easily impressed by shallow bullshit.

I have zero desire to yank my head all over the place to look at shit in a game, or wearing a fucking headset, never mind aiming and flailing blindly at the air around me like a 5 year old with a toy gun or worse walking in place to simulate walking in the world.

Fuck all of that shit, I want to lay back, unfettered and use my hands while being aware of reality around me thanks.

The people who want this crap really just want some exercise machine with shitty sim games they can act like a spaz in.

Bullshit holograms

Because Sony couldn't sell 3D TVs.

VR has a lot of benefits to it. Mainly depth perception, I can't stress enough how important this could be for many games. Offering an additional input is just the cherry on top.
3D TVs were always shit.

VR wouldn't be so bad if they put more effort into making it more interactive and affordable, and give it actually good games. Full-body VR arcades is probably the way to go. Right now, the way they're trying to get VR cheaper and mainstream is to just make you use your phone. That lets you see 3d scenes with depth perception, but thats a fraction of what makes proper VR good.

Phone VR doesn't have positional tracking (it only uses the gyroscope in your phone to get its rotation) and doesn't give you any way to touch the environment with your hands. Most phone VR is just watching 3D movies, anyway. The best gaming you can get with phone VR is to tether it to your PC with TrinusVR and Vireio to play games. Then you at least have a keyboard and mouse to use.

The proper headsets like the Rift and Vive give you controllers, positional tracking, and a full room space to walk around in. This is still not enough in my opinion. It's also retardedly expensive. You need to be able to use your feet as well. You should have the ability to physically run around in the game. this teleport shit is old already.

Then you have the software. Most VR games are made just to cash in on the trend. Most of them aren't trying to make something new that can only be fully enjoyed with VR. They're all just either "fuck around and throw shit" simulators or shooters where you're standing in one place the whole time.

Cost and hardware requirements are the last and arguably biggest problem. You need a beefy rig to run the rift or the vive, which is real VR. Phone VR shouldn't be considered the true modern VR experience, as it doesn't have everything current VR has to offer. Ideally, someone should just make a virtual reality console that's a big full-body rig like pic related that you strap into and the computer that powers everything is in the back. You could hook up a monitor with HDMI if you need to, but while playing everything is seen with the headset. This setup would likely be at around the ~$1200 mark, but monthly payment plans would probably make it more affordable for most people. Alternatively, VR arcades could become a thing and you could just put a few quarters into a similar machine to play a system-link game with some friends.

It's ancient as shit, it's just that technology has improved enough to make it look better while being much cheaper to produce than it used to be.

The Early 90's wants their gimmick back.

This shit has to be a raid

I'd still say it was new as nobody touched it after that first game that you shoot eachother and the pterodactyl comes and grabs you. You'll claim that electric cars aren't a new trend either because they had them in the early 00s.

Yes also this. The market didn't adopt it after manufacturers tried for at least 3 years. It's as dead as 3D.

I just asked why people even hype this shit up.

"Are we being raided?" is the hottest new shitpost for people that want to pretend innocent questions are never asked here for any reason unless it's an obvious outsider. In the same stroke they out themselves as obvious outsiders because 8/v/ being needlessly aggressive, obnoxious about it, and saging literally everything it doesn't like is a very recent trend, speaking towards a new wave of monkey-see-monkey-do posters, or just general newfags.

Hell, there's an alarming amount of posts lately that are rather blatant about being in the midst of growing pains for this board. The constant influx of "shit thread sage" type posts, Holla Forums-tier requests for OP to kill themselves, starting up political shitfests in threads where it's not warranted. Know the difference between shitposts and stupid people, it could save your life. Either way the response is the same- report, hide, carry on with the thread as normal. Maybe have a giggle at the people who see fit to cry about Reddit and its downvote/upvote dichotomy, irony sailing over their heads because they're too busy using sage to express displeasure

Retardedly expensive compared to what? A gaming rig? A car?

Physically running around in VR games has been standard for about a year now. That teleporting shit is usually offered as an alternative that no one uses. You don't need to use your feet (and that wouldn't be as good as you think it is anyway) except to move around your immediate area.

But whatever, you've tried a phoneVR or PSVR headset once a year ago so you're the expert I guess.

Absolutely this, tons of likely newfags/cuckhanners coming here with this shitpost mentality while providing no meaningful discussion

This post is cuckchan incarnate
From the buzzwords to the misinfo

3D was such a fail.

i've tried the PSVR about 6-7 times now and i love it. I was skeptical about the VR gimmick, but there is definietly a place for VR. seeing in-game particles fly around you feels like they're about to touch you, many times i have seriously felt like i could reach out and want to touch things in the VR world. VR is definitiely immersive, even on a console like the PS4. i was genuinely surprised, because Holla Forums told me all VR is shit and yet i got lost in a cheap console VR system. why would Holla Forums lie to me?

(checked)

I'm getting real sick of this type of discussionless shitpost.

Still mad about that one retard who spammed "You haven't played DF, kys" for an entire thread despite being asked to give reasoning multiple times by OP.

"Am i i a giant dick goblin?" is the hottest new shitpost for faggots like you that want to pretend this place has never been raided or shilled before because it's too smallor not important enough . In the same stroke you out yourself as a raging faggot that spends his spare time as a dildo sampler and treating sage as if it was a downvote despite that being a very tired meme before it even started speaking towards a new wave of cancer, or just general newfags trying to get a footing in the place and terraform it into something resembling their native homeland.
Hell, there's an alarming amount of posts lately which is either signs of a raid or an influx of posters rather blatant about being in the midst of just arriving here and trying to fit in because they were probably stupid enough to not have any standards and invite and give /freech/ it's own board over at cuckchan. The constant influx of ["template/greetext/muh favorite e-celeb/goback2/b/-Holla Forums"] type posts, constant appeal to moderation and cuck/v/-tier requests to stop being meanies and starting up meta faggotry in threads where it's not warranted are indicative of this. Knowing the difference between shitposters and faggots like this one could save your wife's sons' life. Either way the response is the same- sage&tell him to fuck off back wherever they came from. Maybe have a giggle at the faggots like you who see fit to cry about others saging their posts whilst at the same time treating it similarly to the one place they with the one system they are familiar with the most ,Reddit and its downvote/upvote dichotomy ; with the irony sailing over your head because you are too busy enganging in your dildo sampling

You fit in seamlessly, user, I almost couldn't tell the difference.

I don't think that Vr is as amazing as they say, I tried some shitty games on it and I wasn't amused. It felt like a step back from what games became to the early 80s.

What is the sauce on webm?

My bros have hyped me up for the Vive, but I'm not "spend $2000 upgrading my computer and buying a Vive" hyped. Call me when it's cheap.

Holy shit, you fucking faggot. It’s not 1995 anymore. Your shitposting didn’t work then and it doesn’t work now. Fuck off and shut up about things you don’t understand.

Because we want the VR shit that appears in scifi. Most of which(besides feeling) is becoming possible, but game devs are too retarded to make decent games for VR.

2D Loli, also our bans shouldn't be perma. so it may have been an accident. Do you know which one of us did it?

You better start deleting Clementine posts then you fucking cuck, and I mean that with all due respect.

I literally said it's something that can go away with experience, if you are going to reply to a post at least read it first.

Thanks America, keep ruining everything

He is a jew, jews ruin everything like killing Jesus and Adam Sandler.

It looks really neat, and I'd like to try one. I'll buy one in 5 years or so when the specs improve and prices drop.

Well clementine posts only show how shit your taste is for obsessing over le racemixed asian dindu

No, I'm saying we don't give a fuck about 2D loli. and that the ban shouldn't have been perma.

Never implied that I like that ugly nigress, just saying that if you are going to delete 3D loli you might as well delete all of it, like this crop.

what crop? :^)

i got the HTC vive on release. tried to play warthunder simulator mode with it.
resolution; approximately twice 700x1200 pixels
i was not able to spot enemy planes nor ground targets
sold it on ebay for 700$ 6 months later

VR is crap unless they manage to release it with two 4K screens or better,
second problem is you need to invest a lot of money in your PC to be able to play… oh wait there are actually no good games for VR unless you play simulator cockpit games.
downturn with VR is you need to get used to it and its damn exhausting because its like real 3d instead of two dimensional 3d. motion sickness disappeared within 3 days for me, first time was quite nasty though, when i tried to play tanks in war thunder i nearly vomited. once the brain adapts youll get used to it and it will be fine. anyway most people ive seen selling their sets on ebay did it because of motion sickness. positive thing is you can sell it on ebay for nearly the same price you acquired it.
i cant recommend it for simulator unless they release 4k screens or better.

VR has a lot of potential, you just can't see it

I completely understand why you wouldn't spend 1500$ for the headset and a new gpu.
You can miss this generation, Oculus 1 and Vive 1, it's expensive and still a bit rough on the hedge but you won't want to miss gen two.
Still a great purchase (Vive) if you can afford it, used or not.

Hello my dear cake eating jew, I'm the guy who got banned for posting Natalia lewds on a thread about vidya faps (now posting from my cellphone… At work… Using the office wi-fi).
I'm not sure who banned me, I don't think it was stated on the ban (I don't get banned very often, I think this was my second one, last time it was a 1 hour ban or so). Anyway, what really matters to me now is knowing wheather or not loli posting (2D or non-PD 3D CGI) can get me banned on a regular lewd posting situation (lewds are being discuss or If it is a eroge thread). Of course, leaving aside a porn dump, that's not what I did and I do concur that dumping should be a bannable offence.

For $800 can buy PC parts to make another gaming rig with decent specs. Your PC needs to keep the framerate high enough so you don't get nauseous, you're looking at ~$1800 to play on a platform that has almost no games. Even if you had the money, is it worth it?

It really hasn't. Just because things like omni-treadmills have been made the past year doesn't mean it's the standard or even viable for most games. Unless you're talking about moving with the joystick/trackpad, which still has its problems. It only works for people who don't get sick from the abrupt starting and stopping when your irl body is motionless. It's basically for a niche of a niche.

You don't need to use motion controllers either. Feet can be used for gameplay just like hands can. You can't curb stomp people in current VR games.

Another thing is that current VR games that let you move around usually need a wide space to play in. A rig that keeps you stationary gives you the same amount of freedom to move around without taking up as much space. The maximum amount of space you would need would equal the length of your arms spread out from your shoulders. It would also fix the cord problem.

I think you're underestimating the amount of people who do use teleportation and how many games still use it by default. The only games that use proper locomotion are games like Onward, horror games, and Adrift. The first two still make a ton of people nauseous, and in games like Adrift you're getting around by physically grabbing things to pull yourself forward. It's far from standard.

remember:

When you're in hell, only the devil can help you out

Warthunder and almost all cockpit games suck massive fucking cock in VR.

I own a vive and the hardware works wonderfully, its the content that hasn't caught up.

You have good showcases of how good VR games can be like Onward, Budget Cuts, Arizona Sunshine and especially Robo Recall.

Being able to rip a robots head or arm off and beat another robot with the dismembered part or juggle enemies Devil May Cry style is fun as shit.
And so are the military type games that require you to move physically, hit the ground when needed and require teamwork/communication.

What doesn't work well all are VR games you play with keyboard/mouse or a console controller, that stuff feels usually okay at best and really boring at worst, as its just a neat way to look at games you can already play on your PC.

The motion controls paired with the headset funnily enough are what makes VR worthwhile and makes the whole thing work.
Unlike the retarded wagglan sticks of the wii/playstation the (at least the vive ones) vr motion controls are extremely accurate, pretty much never lose tracking, just like the headset.

We moved from "stand still and just shoot shit" shovelware like Brookhaven Experiment, to full on locomotion with jumping, wallrunning and sliding like in Sairento VR in a mere year, the progress is fast as people get used to VR, get immune to VR motion sickness through use and devs figure out what works.

The only problem I see currently is not enough good games being in production for VR, as people are unsure where the market is headed.
If they release one or two system sellers on the technical quality of Robo Recall, an updated headset with better ergonomics and slightly updated resolution I am certain VR would get adopted within the next 5 years by most PC gaming people.

maybe they are nice for racing games, I dunno.

Nigger, what the actual fuck are you even talking about?

Dangerous Elite is an alright space truck simulator. Quite enjoyable with VR too. The main downside is resolution, non of the currently available headsets has good enough resolution, I'd wait to try out the Acer one.

Because it's fucking dumb.

sage

It's pretty cool. I'm old. I remember when the best VR headsets were very heavy and felt like you were looking through a toilet paper tube.

I got Oculus dev kit 1 and 2. They sent me a production kit free. The FoV even with DK1 was impressive.

I wrote some basic demos in C++. Then sense of scale is what struck me first. A stereoscopic "camera" at proper head height with proper eye separation next to an immense model feels right. You really get the sense of scale unlike looking at a monitor.

Anyway, a good space exploration game with massive ships landing on planet surfaces and a couple cool all-terrain vehicles to drive around is what I'd like to see.

...

Thanks, Hitler. It definitely seems like the hardware works but the games aren't there yet.

The only way I would ever buy a VR headset would be if they got a porn game where I am a bear, a realistic fat ass fucking forest bear, and go around literally raping people with my spiked bear dong.

I agree. I don't think there are many new good games, VR or not. The number of headsets sold pretty much dictates that there will be nothing but cash grabs and unfinished tech demos for the foreseeable future.

Have you tried Outerra? That shit has a weird way of rendering shit, even with a regular display you get a felling of scale and vastness no other
has. Using VR is even more impressive.

The number of PCs with hardware capable of running stuff on a stereoscopic display is the root cause to the size of the market, the limited library and the price tag of the headsets.

Let's see if the console developers can make something mass-marketable out of this stuff. As of right now, it's still being work shopped. If you buy any of this stuff you're basically in a giant beta test. Little odd things are being discovered, like adding a nose in between your eyes to your in-game avatar actually cuts down on nausea. Your brain developed the ability to block out your nose.

Because Half Life 2 VR is coming out soon, faggot.

Both government and corporations wish people would fall into VR because they can fuck everyone over while dumb idiots prefer to live in their virtual reality instead of being aware of what is planned to enslave them down the road.

...

The waterfall of "vr is a flop" articles soon follows

O-ok… user senpai

Yeah, maybe you're more of a staircase kind of guy.

What pisses me off is that it doesn't have to be that way. We can easily make dirt-cheap touch-sensitive foot pads for seated VR that could read all sorts of input like steps, drags, stomps, etc, but there are a whole bunch of overbroad bullshit dotcom-era patents still hanging around that are preventing anyone from manufacturing and selling them.

You faggots are the reason VR games continue to be meme shit

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it's because VR hardware is something that you can sell PC users that they couldn't get before. It's expensive, forces trendy faggots to buy whole new machines, gets normalfags to buy PCs in the first place, and thanks to Steam, gets them to buy nothing but shovelware and tech demos, like the Wii era of shit games all over again.

>>>/vir/

another thing is, people now literally have a camera watching them at all times. i'm not entirely sure about the Vive or the Oculus Rift, but PSVR requires you to have a camera watching you at all times to track your movements and since most would have their PSNs accounts connected at the same time with a internet connection, its easy pickings for goverments or hackers to get a good view of the persons face and what they have inside their homes

VR is fun but i'm williing to bet it's just another trick they're using to make you have a camera inside your homes watching you. think about it

Not quite a camera, but the vive has those motion tracker things you have to install for the roomscale
The oculus doesn't have anything of the sort, but it's also literally a facebook machine

It'd be no surprise that PSVR is a plot to trick the console goys though, that thing's already clearly the biggest scam on the market as it is

thats why i bough it on release and spent $2K all together in pc and VR….

slightly is not enough. its a fact many people who use VR are playing air plane sim battles. if the resolution sucks it makes no sense play with VR because its impossible to spot targets.

the games are truly a problem.
for example in games like battlefield, it would be hard to spot enemies form far distance. mouse players also would have the advantage to turn and move.
VR players would likely prefer real aim and holding their guns. non vr players dont need to hold their guns and can aim just by clicking the right mouse button.
VR only servers will likely be depopulated especially at night and morning hours.
there are so many factors i can keep listing not just for FPS games but others too.
i think VR can only be a success if some mainstream games implement a VR mode. otherwise people will be disencouraged to buy and play with VR

right now VR has a huge potential for adventure, puzzle and break out games.

the jews are already thinking on how to use VR against dumb goyim. everything the jew touches turns into shit. VR is a potential super brainwash machine worse than cinema, tv, and pc.
jews also plan to make everyone addict to it (like they do with everything) so people become dependent of the kike. thats why zuckertit instantly bought oculus rift even through its a quite risky business. while HTC is a taiwanese company, VIVE legally is in jew hands too.
jews dont want the goyim to get involved in VR production and secure a monopoly as the did with oculus and vive.
you can also see they already spammed the advisory for VR headsets with niggers and shit skins while they know exactly most people who will buy their crap are white faggots

VR is useless for anything that isn't FPS garbage.

is shit.

Andrew Dobson, is time for you to get out.

Even if we completely disregard 3D and VR, the ability to have the same experience as a 100" screen using something that only takes up half a square foot on your desk is really appealing to me. Granted, we need at least 4K headsets before that really becomes feasible, but just because we're not there right now doesn't mean we should just scrap everything and give up.

Because its the future OP

is it normal to come out of a VR experience and feel like images and certain text on your computer are 3D/jumping out at you for a while? i've been having this experience recently

no just stop drinking cola and taking drugs

Finally tried it last weekend, and for a gimmick it's definitely fun for a while. Some of the "Lab" things were fun, like being on the mountains and throwing the stick at the dog, and the magical workshop which was full of detail. I also tried some wave shooter which was ridiculously easy, but the use of the 3d space was great.

All in all I'd say if you want it, go to any of the VR experience places that are popping up around the world, at this point it's more about the momentary wow factor. You'll save 600 bucks. The porn was interesting though, probably the main selling point as I would see it, too bad it's mostly just POV shit.

Think of all those backpack cucks, their dreams become reality.

Because for most people, it is fairly new stuff and looks novel. However, just because it looks neat, doesn't mean it's necessarily practical for most application.
The motion control stuff I see eventually becoming relegated to niche titles, largely due to in order to utilize the more ambitious games you'll need a to dump a good chunk of money into one of those multi-directional treadmills or have a ton of floor space.
I can see VR headsets as a good alternative to things like TrackIR once, and if, the price comes down and the screen resolutions become better. Since in simulators like say, ARMA and IL-2, head movement being a thing does increase immersion and make it easier to look around. Even that considered, VR will likely just become an optional peripheral rather than a must have thing due to some will like it more then others.

Do you seriously think the iPhone was the start of the smartphone you stupid fuck? iPhones were nothing more than overhyped overpriced smartphones with shit battery lives.

I played an occulus DK1 a few years ago and found it mind blowing despite the resolution being so low and the game being shit.

Had a go on a couple of PS VR games and was really impressed at how well a console could do VR, with very little screen door effect though it's a shame you have to have the pro model thats useless for everything but VR to do it and the headset itself is more expensive than the console or games will run in blurry, jaggy sub-1080p

Played the arcade version of raw data and pulled muscles everywhere from dropping into crouches

There's people who cultishly hype it, saying that normal games are finished and use OMG HOLODECK buzzwords, but I think it's genuinely good for the few shooters and things that I've played in it, there seems to be a lot of people say its shit without ever playing it, but obviously there's going to be people who it just doesn't appeal to
