Uncharted Waters 1's presentation was unappealing, the controls were terrible, and the game's systems were typically broken (ranging from the silver trick in Iceland to the inability to actually wait out a storm). All in all a rather unapproachable game. Good thing the sequels are fucking great

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 12 and 13. They really fucked it up.

The Fame and Strategy Expansion Pack fixed a lot of the problems 13 had, even with out it 13 isn't nowhere near as bad as 12 or some the archaic earlier games.

Apparently it's because the guy who wrote the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms had a hardon for Liu Bei since he had royal blood. Because of that, he tried making Shu out to be the tragic heroes. To make it more retarded, the 'benevolence' shit the writer tried to push was never actually a thing. Liu Bei himself was far more authoritarian than benevolent.

Also, Lu Bu was a traitor among traitors. He's great as a military prodigy but for a country like China that demands obedience from its people, no way in hell would they be willing to idolize Lu Bu in the way they've done for Guan Yu. Dian Wei as you said is a much better example, or Zhang Liao.

That was true until DW8. Every game they've shat out since (including DW8) has been hot garbage, both in gameplay and in performance.
