Did try it. The time gating and bullshit made me want to fucking kill myself. Gold completely devalued and is worthless to grind. 839 raid difficulties dilutes the achievement pool. Meme forging dilutes the reward mechanism of the game.

That said Path of Exile, it takes a little bit to get a build running but once you do you can go ham on maps and just grind away currency. Honorable mentions are Warframe, Vindictus, GW2. Pretty much any F2P mmo including Trion shit (If Trion doesn't make you want to kill yourself first)

Get a low rate server and you're not only going to grind for levels, but also for resources like potions and proper gear. And after you get max level you're back to level one if you wan't to advance to the next class. Just don't play Renewal, that shit be broken.
I recommend OriginsRO server, it has no premium shit at all, no "easy way" NPCs or commands that freely heal, buff or teleport you and 5/5/5 are relatively low rates. It's also on an early game chapter, so if you've never played it it will be a fine server to do so.

I'm down for any games but I figured giving a example would lead to better suggestions. The kinds of games I typically enjoy are grindy in nature. Older versions of WoW, Diablo, MMO's in general, any sort of online RPG.

They redid how leveling works, put in a bunch of difference currencies and you get loot boxes constantly with shiny shit in them. It's still an awful game but if you just want to click on shit, watch a number go up and get meaningless rewards its alright.

Last one I played was Mapleroyals a year or so ago which was aright. I checked it out again recently but it seems they fucked things by trying to update the server to a "new source", so currently a lot of things aren't working as they should and registration is disabled as well. GMs weren't likable either.

Other than that, everyone I used to play with switched to Ellinia, can't comment on the quality of that myself though since I never tried it.

I love grinding but I hate how these fucking mmo devs keep throwing bullshit in their games nowadays to keep me moving around the world, never able to settle into a good grind and constantly fucking around with items and interactive bits of the environment. I just want to stand in an open meadow killing hundreds of thousands of quickly respawning enemies and getting really pissed when some jerk (read:mmo player looking for camaraderie) comes along to compete for kills.

I've been using PoE and Grim Dawn for this, but neither of those games really scratches the itch for the kind of classes I like to play.

Xenoverse 1 and 2 are both RNG heavy where unless you fulfill certain requirements, you are not going to get that new skill/equipment, and even then there is only a chance you will get it if you do fulfill the requirements.

Royals had the most players and inflation is over the roof. You can buy anything or everything, end-game content has already been reached, but registration is currently disabled because it's going through an update.

Legends has less players, but it's more tight-knit. Levelling is slow, just like how it really was back then. The economy and everything is in its infancy.

Saga is hosted in Asia I believe (but the game is in English of course). It has a custom boss raiding feature. It's the most customized private server and has quite a lot of people.

I'll try Ellinia in the meantime and hop on Royals when they allow registration again to check it out.

Thanks for showing me MapleSaga by the way. Just from reading the admin's forum posts on how they handle certain in-game mechanics and applied changes with actual thought behind them I'm pretty optimistic. They even found a sensible way to avoid admin abuse.

I just looked up OSRS and apparently memberships give you more content in the form of quests, places to go and skills, so that does make it pay to win even if you can just grind for it. 'However'' simply having to pay for a membership to actually play the game itself is not what pay to win means. I'd say especially so when the game allows players to play the game for free with a certain amount of in-game money/special item acquired/whatever. That just means you don't necessarily have to fork over real cash and members don't receive any benefit from paying.
I guess you could say that the people that pay don't have to worry about farming/whatever method the game uses to keep the subscription going, but if the alternative to doing that is simply not being allowed to play at all then you can't categorize it as pay to win This does depend on how harsh the game is on free players when it comes to acquiring membership, but this is all theoretical anyway.

It can be. Engineers ruined PvP, so I don't play very much anymore. While there are carebears, if you stay off reddit and the forums, you don't have to deal with them. They all play in solo or mobius anyway.

Drakengard on the PS2 is one of the most grindy RPGs for the early part of that console. You're also required to in order to get best ending because you need fully leveled everything to unlock it.

I know you said you don't want to play weebshit but there's not really anything out there like PSO2 which has the true hitbox-based action combat (games like B&S, neverwinter, BDO are fun but they aren't hitbox-based) combined with multi-player battles and extensive customization

I don't blame anyone who doesn't like the game it has its quirks (heavy grind, somewhat locked down if you aren't premium/sub player, not open world, 12 player max per quest, anime art style) but there's nothing that comes even close for me I been playing since launch 5 years ago and I strongly recommend giving it a try since it is free after all and there is english translation patch that I don't use but I hear it is pretty good these days
